Future Diversity Class Changes ?

Oh definitely. One of the main issues right now is a lack of diversity between classes. Their skills may look a lot different but they all do the same things. It’s even worse that we have some professions who excel at pretty much everything to the point that others are almost redundant or unnecessary. It doesn’t help that we have so many runes and sigils to blur the lines even more.

Every profession needs to be able to bring something to the table that is unique to itself. Gw1 was great about that.

And I dont even think it needs much, just a simple diversity so two warriors who wield a two hand sword can play differently. Maybe even add more role into it. Humans have the gods, norn spirits and so on for all races. Divine entities that favor the characters, why not have some divinity exclusive mission, where you learn a diffents set of skills depending on the gos you follow. Like the paragon and mystics were in gw 1 for kormir and the assasin and ritualist for grenth and gwenya ( i dont remember that gods name)

I would like to so have a two handed sword with my warrior and have really cool skills like the ranger has with on sword, cornering the enemy, jumping back while slicing and then jumping back in with a stab. Perhaps give us a choice on weapon skills so a two hand sword could parry and counter attack etc.

I just saw the season 2 coming up, I really do hope something does happen with this. I want to be able to be a unique guardian, not just on the background with my traits or looks, but my playstyle, my strategy, my attacks etc. Make 2 same guardians with same weapons and same armor do different things.

Hi, I just wanted to make a remark on the previous GW 1 and how one preffession could be very diverce becasue of the variation of skills and builds. Do you think we need or we will see some additions of skills perhaps new weapons or enchanted/blessed weapons which give new skills? Simply to make everyone stand out for themselves and give some change of flavor to the game . I just feel like I dont really matter being the class I am which ever it can be, because theres 10 people doing the same thing, I feel like one more soldier who does the same thing many people would in the same situations.

One idea which I think could be cool is too costumize the skills visual effects of diferent characters. Perhaps by doing some mission, you get to be blessed by a spirit or a god and your attacks look different or the animation changes so you can stand out from the rest. You guys think something like this could be added or would at least be great to see??

Excuse my English for its not my first language.

Why does it have to be for the necromancer that most of his staff skills are AoE, causing bleeding, poison etc.? Why can I use it to call upon mini death minions who are not OP or call forth a portal that send dark creatures from another real or perhaps use the life essence of my enemies to get another medium level minion and have my minion master? Or perhaps call dead spirits who can be from sword fighters to bow users and have some sort of ritualist? this are classes or Tyria and Ascalon, why not have them back within the necro and just make it a different build, and just call it a necro who prays to a different god?Perhaps this is too much for one character, so why not give the player the choice to choose how unique he/she wants to be.
Maybe it is too much to get a Dervish class, but how about to give the warrior or guardian the opportunity to follow Grenth and gain different skills, or follow Kormir and gain the lancer of the sun skills aka Paragon, and this can be applicable for all races, because being a norn or and asura doesn’t nullify the existence of Grenth and Kormir, or instead of dead soldiers call forth ancestors or spirits of the wild and so having a different necro feel.
Wouldn’t it be cool for the Mesmer to customize the color of your powers? Instead of pink make it dark blue, red, yellow, orange, lime green, to get that extra customization?
How about crafting certain magic weapons that unlock two to three skills, like a flaming sword, giving us the possibility to burn or to create fire waves in front of us, or create fire pits by stabbing the earth, and this having a different effect on different sword users ? and the same with bow users, this might take away some skills form the warrior that already have fire, and instead power up that fire, making a trail of fire starting from the point the arrow was shot to where it landed, or something like that, with just a bit of creativity we can find fun, cool things that won’t unbalanced the game but add more joy to any player to adventure and discover new things in the world, and trully making every race a unique one within the different professions, not necessarily more powerful but just different, with a different taste to the game.
How cool would it be to create a rock trail that blocks a certain passage for WvW saving teammates from a sure kills while running under a thigh bridge with narrow walls, or elevate pieces of the earth to reach certain locations adding more tactics to the game.
And with all this race norn, asura subject, how about giving different animations and names to the skills so we feel a norn is being played here.
Many times I get headaches creating a new character with a new race/profession conbination, because the only difference is the appearance and the story, but feels the same, I feel that I dont want to play five warriors just so I can realise which one I feel more comfortable with, and so throwing hours of my life wasted on just grinding instead of enjoying my unique warrior through the whole story and showing off my moves and tactics on PvP and WvW, having from normal humans to Norns checking out my build and singularity to inspire other to break the same chain of a sword wielding warrior into a really cool kitten sword master with cool moves.
Again some of my ideas might be too crazy, but this are just the ones that come to mind right now, I will be checking this post as much as I can and posting new ideas to see what you guys think. I truly believe in GW 2 to be a huge game change for the mmorpg genre, with a little more tweaks this can be the best mmorpg of the century.
P.S: Please forgive any grammar error I might have given English is not my first language, and also the long post, but I believe It is worth reading so we can all contribute to create a game MADE FOR THE PLAYER.

Hi, I’m creating this post for the sake of posting your ideas for GW 2, directly dedicated to skills and racial skills. If you disagree with anything I write please comment so, I would like this thread to be a friendly one, and perhaps draw the attention from GW 2 designers etc. And also discuss possible future changes given they posted news on future updates that will contain new skills among other things.
I’ll start by saying the reason of this topic. Lately I’ve been feeling very nostalgic of the first GW, the ritualist and that wall of spirits, the necro with a minion master build, my warrior/ele build stunning with the hammer or hitting everyone with the hundred swords elite skill and fire damage on my sword. Fast fire with the ranger, and focusing on interrupting, the beautiful dervish and the cool paragon.
I stopped playing GW 2 for a while because I’ve been getting bored really fast, really easily, I reach level 10 and I already unlocked all the skills for all my weapons, I reach level 30 and I am bored of using one kind of weapon just because the skills I like is with that weapon, why can’t I use my sword to do some AoE damage instead of my axe? Why does my sword has to be bleeding and condition effects and not fast hits with critical damage or pure power burst damage like Final Thrust on GW 1.
Now I am just being too picky, but I would love to see GW 2 with a much bigger selectivity of skills for all professions, and racial skills for all races, I feel that it doesn’t matter what race you are, if you are a warrior you will do just as much damage if you are a hulking norn or if you are an adorable Asura. For example when you see another warrior with a sword in the battlefield you lose confidence because your character is not so unique anymore, and you start feeling more like another figure in a chess game, I understand the logic behind it, so players can be free to be whatever they want to be regardless of race, but wouldn’t be cool to be able to choose the skills I want to take into the battle, making asura and norn warriors different form one another just with those racial skills and so creating that unique personal experience that GW 2 is so about, if this is not possible or at least without breaking the balance of the game, can we at least get more skills for every profession? And so still keep that uniqueness so we can choose our fighting style regardless of our weapon? I honestly love playing my ranger, but when I switch to one handed sword I hate seeing him doing that weird air kick with the normal auto attack over, and over, and over, and over, or double wield a sword and attacking with a bear spirit or an eagle flying, is it just me or that feels norn-ishh only for the looks of it?
Please forgive my grammar, English isn’t my first lenguage.

Combat gameplay suggestion for a more unique character.

Hi, I’ve been playing quite a while the game and I SIMPLY LOVE IT, but recently a question popped to my head, are we going to get new updates with new skills in them, like we had in GW 1?Or would we get new skills in general in upcoming simpler updates for the professions?

I really feel that all the professions are incredible but compared to GW 1 it is really easy to discover all the skills available at the beginning of the game, where I agree getting the first basic five skills is a must to feel full combat experience, but I’m worry it could make it a little repetitive before reaching higher levels, or at least passed lvl30 where you start getting the elite skills. A good example is for the warrior to get new skills so if you double wield swords you can unlock a new group of skills that allows you to do several cuts at an incredible speed, I know that the special skill of the one handed sword warrior is that multiple cut with bleeding, but I feel that GW 2 could use more skills to have more unique characters even if using the same weapon as others, so we can find a greater uniqueness between players, or at least for example a change on the number 1,2,3 and 4 skills so we can pick what conditions to make or what sort of attacks to do without changing that last skill of the off-hand (5) that tends to be the most unique of the off-hand weapon. I would love something like this just so we can feel a bit more of "this is my character, there are many like it, but this IS mine ". So in a number of 6 out of 10, only 6 might have the same build, but still different traits points, which makes not just your character but your gameplay stand out.

Please do not misunderstand me, I love how it is already, but I’m curious if some sort of skill update would come later on, which would make my blood boiled literally.

Thanks for your attention.
