As a BL defender, I didn’t like sneak attack. Our scouting resources are always thin and lack of white swords just made it harder.
Sneak attack is great for the attackers, but I fear it just turns the game into more of a big karma-train.
On SBI we call them Bay, Hills and Garri.
For the towers and camps the people who play on the BLs often use cardinal directions (NE, NW, SE, SW, NN, South). The people who play mostly on EB often the actual names of the towers and camps which are map-specific and confuse the BL players.
There is always discussion about how “NN” is redundant, but we still keep calling it that.
In the keeps, we use cardinal directions for gates and walls (s.hills, ne garri, etc.) with some special names like “wg” (water gate) in garri and bay and worm gate in bay.
Like seriously, having 200g+ worth of runes and sigils being stuck in armor sets/weapons I dont use anymore really sucks.
Agreed. Let us get our runes and sigils back somehow!
Thanks for the advice and tips on how to report effectively, Michael.
Seconded!
I routinely report gold sellers because there is a clear option for that in the reporting tool.
Last week a DB player was arrow carting well inside the lords room of the SBI borderlands garrison from outside the northern gate. I assumed he was using some sort of zoom hack. After I died, I just rage quitted, because I didn’t know “botting” was the correct reporting option to use (for the time being).
Thanks to all the GMs for the work you do. You need to figure out how to get the word out about what you are doing, because there is the perception out there that reporting stuff is a waste of time, and action is not taken.
On your home borderland: North Camp
On an enemy borderland: Southwest Camp
Problem: World Population Imbalance
Solution: Balance the WvW Populations of the worlds (servers)
Ah, but the devil is in the details – how to do it. I favor solutions that preserve player choice about worlds.
Here are the ideas I like, most of which have been mentioned in the thread already.
The Basic Idea: Give players incentives to move to the low population servers.
To ENABLE such movement, Anet would need to:
- Calculate WvW population levels very frequently (ideally, every 15-minute ‘tick’)
- Make the population information available to the players (so they know which servers are high, medium and low population).
- Have the information available over time so guilds and servers can see when their coverage gaps are.
- Allow guilds to move between servers without losing all their influence, bank, unlocks, etc.), so a guild doesn’t need to grind on it’s new server to get set up.
To ENCOURAGE such movement, Anet could:
- Adjust Transfer costs based on population (cheaper or free to move to low pop)
- Dymanically scale (strengthen and weaken) servers based on population
– have guards man siege until players kick them off
– outmanned
– bloodlust
- Dynamically adjust rewards (drops, wxp, etc.) based on population
– Special Achievements (“Outmanned, but not outplayed”)
- Strengthen/scale the “comeback” mechanics (e.g., siegrazer)
Population (#) of active WvW players should be factored into the matchmaking system.
In the recent story about living world, mention was made of rewards. I think that in WvW, the rewards given to players helping defend borderlands need to be increased. I’m talking about things like escorting yaks, repairing walls/gates/siege, defending camps/tower/keeps.
It’s very demoralizing to spend hours in WvW doing all that, getting waypoints in all your keeps, then log out for an hour to eat dinner (or all night to sleep) and come back to find the entire map has been flipped by the enemy because nobody was defending it.
Nobody was defending it because currently there are many more rewards to be gained by running with the zerg, capping things and moving on.
It’s a balancing act. If defenders rewards are buffed too much, the game will get static and turn into trench warfare, which I don’t think anybody wants either.
1. Address the zoom hack
2. Address the hack that lets invaders get through the gate on the NW tower on the green bl map
3. (Much larger issue) Up the rewards for defending (escorting yaks, fixing walls & gates, defending camps/towers/keeps).
4. Allow a vote on the map to “unclaim” a camp/tower/keep that is claimed with no buffs running.
I got on the ark, placed the ghostfire charges in the hold, escaped from the ark, got to the are’s highest point, but no custscene triggers and I’m blocked from proceeding. All the NPCs are alive and with me by the way.
I wish it had more range. Still, it is fun as all get-out.
I feel the same way. It’s way under powered for an Elite Skill. Artillery is a long-range. If it needs to be balanced, make it a bit weaker on the damage or AOE, but it should have the range of, well, an artillery piece (a Charr mortar maybe?).
