Guild Wars 2

I’ve been playing for 3 years now and ele is my main character. I’ve never seen the class this weak in pvp before. I’ve tried my old favorite builds, recommended builds, and experimental builds, and in all cases I end up being a liability for my team. I just don’t see the point in playing spvp at all anymore because I’m causing people to lose just by showing up. I’m not interested in learning a new class so I can just be another cancer reaper, scrapper, or dragonhunter. I’m not that mad, just sad that I’m losing 1/3 of the game, maybe more if you count the similar problem with WvW though not quite as bad. So I won’t be playing spvp anymore. This isn’t a rage quit or “boycott”, just not wanting to waste other players’ time. It’s a shame because I really enjoyed spvp and wvw. I think I will do mostly dungeons and HoT content for now.

I found there is an outage in my area but it doesn’t look like it’s Anet related. A service/company called bluekai is experiencing trouble. Also, I found that NCSoft has had outages before affecting GW2 so maybe that’s happening again.

Same problem with me. Was fine until a couple of days ago then my ping shot up to 1000+ making the game nearly unplayable. This is only happening with GW2. Everything else I do with my connection works just fine and speedtest shows constant 23 mbps download and 1.8 up. That’s more than enough to run GW2 and watch Netflix at the same time because I’ve done it before. I’ve troubleshooted with my ISP and they see no outages near me, the closest being Florida and I’m in Los Angeles. Traceroute is attached. I don’t know what this gr2.la2ca.ip.att.net. It sounds like an AT&T server if that’s what you call them but it’s not causing me any trouble with anything other then GW2. Then I lose packets again at this ncsoft-ic-307708-dls-b21.c.telia.net.10.115.62.in-addr.arpa. And again at 64.25.32-26.ncsoft.com. There’s nothing else I can do but wait and see if it gets fixed before I get tired of waiting and start trying different MMORPGS. That would be a while though. I love GW2.

I’m unable to create a personal waypoint. I ctrl-click the spot I want on my map and it just turns into a hand for moving the map, no waypoint. Same result on either mini map or big map. I used personal waypoints frequently before this started happening and hope to do so again.

I’m unable to buy anything from the TP because whatever I want to look at just gets stuck in loading. I’m hoping this is temporary but no one else seems to be having this problem. I have no clue what to do about other than complain. If it’s still not working in a week I guess I will just uninstall and re-download but that’s such a pain.

Any feedback or suggestions could help.

I just finished this. You have to be really patient and run around alot. Mobility is super important here. My lightning flash helped tons.

I’ve obtained most of my silk from WvW, mostly Eternal Battlegrounds. When you steamroll a large enemy force you can get literally dozens of bags, most of which contain an item that salvages to silk, or those “discarded garments” that salvage to silk and gossamer. But I’m on Sea of Sorrows which I believe is tier 2 so our battles are big. If you are on a very low tier then try Edge of the Mists and see if you can get into a huge zerg and run around objective smashing. The only downside to this is you do need some skill to survive and if you constantly die you don’t get a darn thing. No guarantees.

I prefer celestial myself because I like the well-rounded resilience and every ability does what it’s supposed to. e.g. conditions aren’t neglected. And you’re tough enough to not be a free kill to glass cannon thieves and warriors.

When I join these “Zerker” parties, often they get one-shotted by bosses and I’m the only one left standing, then I sometimes solo the boss and they STILL blame me for not being in full zerker gear! It’s like an irony sandwich.

I like EOTM and sometimes spend all Friday night in it because all maps are queued the entire evening. I like the feel of it and you’re still indirectly helping your server even though you’re not in the main maps.

I really like lightning flash but trying to spam click where I want to go and always being just out of range is a bit counter-intuitive. It would be great if my character just jumped max distance in the direction of my mouse pointer, or up to the pointer if it’s within range. I think that would be a bit more intuitive and you wouldn’t have to spam through “out of range” until you inch the mouse pointer close enough as you madly spam the spell.

If there’s already a way to do this please let me know.

The probes remind me of thumpers in the movie Dune which summoned the giant worms.

I actually have 2 elementalists. A staff and D/D ele. They are about equally geared and I think I prefer playing my staff ele only because it suits my play style. I like the range and utility in groups and it’s good in WvW. I don’t do well in 1v1 but my D/D does pretty well in that area.

The biggest problem I have with D/D is not really knowing when to charge in to enemy players because I seem to either get downed in 2 seconds, or barely get back out without hardly doing any damage to anyone. But with my staff ele I lay down AOE that forces them to either move back or take damage and that seems much more effective.

But I think my D/D ends up doing markedly more dps in PvE content and still has good survivability as long as you use lots of toughness. I have all Superior runes of the Earth on my d/d and that helps a lot.
