Thanks for this thread and build! I just rerolled an engineer (I’ve rolled 3 previous) and started testing this build in SPvP, and for the first time in a MMO, I’m actually enjoying PvP.

So Guild Wars 2 is an ARPG in 3rd person?

There are different variants, such as vindictus/tera (action 3rd person “MMO”) diablo (dungeon crawler) then Guild wars 2 (traditional MMO with light action based movement).

I’ve played (and actually plan on resubbing) Tera, and the one thing that game does right is the combat. I remember Penny-Arcade mentioning that if a developer could combine the combat of tera, the non-quest/grind of GW2, and the personal story-lines/character development of Swtor, that the “perfect” MMO would be out.

And to a degree I agree with them, I really love gw2, specifically how it handles loot, parties, the breaking of the trinity, and the skills based on weapons used. The combat is solid, but, overall still heavily follows on the traditional combat mechanics.

I think GW2 could’ve been a solid contender for a true action/skill based combat system such as Tera’s etc.. but we’ll see in time with other MMO’s coming out.

PvE Areas Abandoned.

I don’t mind a new dungeon, I actually welcome it (generally), I love PvE content, I’m not much of a pvp’er, so I have several alts (2 lv. 80’s etc.etc..)
I went to Orr, and other areas and they’re completely abandoned, very few (if any) people tend to look for a dungeon for tokens anymore. All it is is “LFG FotM”.
As if the event wasn’t enough poor planning, it seems Anet didn’t think ahead on this issue either. It’s really a shame, I <3 Gw2, but at the same time, I see my interest wane every time I log in.

another question regarding the spec listed above from Blood; which rune set would you recommend once I hit 80?

I was swapping between specs while leveling (Which after a long break from thf to level necro and warrior to 80 and other classes) my thf. I used to think that the playstyle was all about pure burst, but after spec’ing differently and def. playing with dodging on my mind, I’ve found the class to be fun again. I use d/d with p/d as secondary set.
Build atm (any suggestions are also welcomed)

Jaer,

For fun throw the 20 points from the Power line into Crit line for Signet Use. Then take Hastened Replenishment from Trickery 30 and use Signet of Malice. This gives ya 6 initiative every 12 seconds and you can roll a ton of bleeds. CnD is very initiative intensive and this gives you a lot You can also trait Vigor on Heal every 12 seconds so you can almost ‘permadodge’.

Not saying its better because you lose 20% duration on bleeds but you can throw more out.

Blood~

Ah yes, I see how it’ll work, nice, I’ll give it a shot tonight
Thanks for the info/advice

Keep in mind I do pve only (for now) and am only 60 on this character, but this is the build I’ve swapped to, I found it pretty solid thus far:

I don’t know how it’d do in pvp (considering the skills, I’d think bad). Right now the build I’m at is what you see but 8 less in Trickery.

I recently changed to this build and found it very solid in PVE zerging and dungeons:
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mcVMMm9cmMhFomMhFoxa0x0MobVzVR
I swap out BiP at times for a different skill depending on the fight.

I generally lay staff 2/3/4 right in the group of mobs as I run right into them, by the time I reach them, I have a good start on life force. I drop both wells down in the group that seems to cap out my LF. I then swap to DS and aoe them. The group is either dead or close to dead.

During boss fights, I lay all marks on it while autoattacking with staff 1. As I reach the boss (assuming melee is possible) I then lay both wells and swap to dagger. LF is nearly capped at this time so I swap to DS and atk 1 until I’m at 70-75% LF left and then drain. auto attack etc the remainder of the LF time. swap to staff, laying marks again, dropping wells again and swapping to lichform, dropping atk 2 for more vuln and minion well then auto attack the rest of the time refreshing vuln or atk 5 for cleanse as needed.
When Lich form ends, I drop marks again, wells, and swap to dagger till DS is ready again (literally fills up extremely fast, sometimes it seems instantly) and repeat the cycle. Not only can I melee, but range fight and aoe with even decent bleeds from marks but it has very solid survivability in PVE.

I personally don’t know what Superior runes to use yet, I run with berserkers gear (pwr/prec/crit dmg) so far as well with pretty good success.

I was a conditionmancer, and loved it, but decided to try out a power dagger/staff spec and I’m very happy with what I’ve seen thus far.
