Personally I think the pets the necro has (the ones I saw so far anyway) are… well ugly.

I’m wondering if its possible to play a necro more or less without pets, or if I would cripple the class too much doing that?

How long are WvW queues on your server then, Fellthar?

Also, are overflow servers happening in later zones too, or is it limited only to the first few? I know they can happen of course, I just never saw one after the 15-25 zone on my server, so curious if they still happen in the endgame zones on High or Full servers.

me and two friends are currently playing on a medium population server and it’s getting pretty deserted in some parts of the world now, making leveling and playing in general not that fun.

So we consider switching servers. Some are at “High” and others show as “Full”.

What does “Full” in this context mean? Is there a login queue or anything? Can you even transfer to those servers or are they locked for new people?

No on normal server.

The guild might have been created in an overflow server though, now that you mention it (I’m not sure, it was 2 days after release). But guilds are cross-server, so that shouldn’t really be a problem now, should it.

Guildleader (me) only has permission to “Edit Ranks” everything else is greyed out and can’t be selected.

I can create and delete ranks but that’s it.

Here’s what I CAN’T do:
- Edit MOTD (Edit button grey)
- Start upgrades for the guild. (Add button grey)
- Promote, demote or kick people (option doesn’t even appear anywhere)
- actually edit ranks (the other ranks have all options greyed just as mine)

Yes, I am. We all are. As I said using it to talk and that works.

Me and two friends have made a guild so that we can talk easier among each other, but a few things don’t seem to work right.

For example no one of us can promote anyone. I’m the leader of the guild, it doesn’t show anywhere.

I can’t edit ranks either. I can set the “Edit Ranks” check at each rank but thats the only thing I can do. Everything else is grey and doesn’t work. Promote, demote, kick, etc.
Invite seems to work though.

All that never really bothered us, because talking worked and that was the important stuff. But now we got enough Influence that we thought about getting a guild bank, but I can’t build anything.
I go to the Upgrade tab, select Architecture and there’s Research Architecture Level 1 which also has an “Add” button – but again that button is greyed out and can’t be clicked. By any of us.

So, is this a bug or is there somehow a minimum amount of people in a guild before most stuff starts working?

@Rouven: A guildy of me had the same problem, she transmuted her fire gem (from char creation) and then said it vanished and is invisible now. She was pretty sad about it

I don’t know if you can re-transmute gem store outfits. I hope so, because I’m considering getting one of them and would want to make sure I can reuse it.
So if anyone knows for sure, would be nice to get an answer.

Especially in regards to lower level armor and so?

Ok, lets make an example:

I’m level 50 and am in a level 50 zone. My armor and weapons however is level 40 still.

Now I go into a level 45 zone and get downleveled.

Does the game recognize that my armor would still be valid in that area and doesn’t touch it stats, only reducing my natural stats I got from leveling and traits etc?
Or doesn’t it care and just reduces everything by 10% or so?

Can you explain why Beastmastery makes the pets that much tougher as some here seem to imply? Because I don’t see much there that does that.

So before I reach 100% crit damage 1 point of power is better than 1 point precision.

How do I see my crit damage? When I hover over Crit Chance it says Critical Damage 22, but I definitely do more than 22% more damage on a crit.

I’m using shortbow with longbow as backup, skills are in Marksman and Skirmish for now and I’m level 48.

And the role i’m trying to fullfill is sticking pointy sticks in enemies so they go dead.

I assume completely ignoring one or the other is a bad idea, but what’s a good ratio to have?

Yes, I noticed the same thing.

I went and shot at the training dummies in Lion’s Arch for a bit with same level short and longbow (both green, bot having same Power/Precision). I was level 36 or so at that time. (Was a few days ago)

Shortbow autoshot fired ever 0.5 seconds for 40 damage. Longbow Rapidfire shot 10 arrows in 5 seconds for 400 total damage.
So the autoshot does the same damage as the style, but doesn’t go on Cooldown AND usually adds a bleed which puts it ahead.
Longbow autoshot does more damage per hit, but it’s a lot slower, firing only every 1.3 seconds (23 shots in 30 seconds). Only when in the largest range (1000-1200) is its dps comparable to the shortbow autoshot. If you’re closer, you’re doing less. If you’re below 500 then you’re doing only about 50% damage compared to shortbow

Aside from the damage, they both have their advantages:
Longbow on the other hand has the AOE, which is unmatched by shortbow. Shortbow has a snare which is good in pvp I guess, but longbow has the knockback. The vulnerability the longbow can inflict is also nice.
