Just a bit of feedback if you are still reading these. Stop listening to people and get playing and see for yourself, seems most just have a personal agenda and its not a fit all fix.
I read these posts and instantly think of Charlie Browns mom ’’wha wa wa wa wha wa wa".
I believe all the adult characters in Peanuts made that sound in leu of a real voice but Charlie Brown’s teacher was featured the most making that sound.

In a short time, yes, in a long time, is different by the situation.
Anyway, the point over the guardian burn is that he can inflict only burn.
Ranger, engi, mesmer eles(but no one use bleed on ele) can inflict also other conditions than burn. (mesmer don’t inflict burn).A lot of conditions is always better than only one.

The way it is on Yak’s Bend right now is that we had to call of nightly WvW because Fort Aspenwood and Sea of Sorrows are no shows, and no fights are to be found. This is probably because a bunch of T1 guilds transferred to our server a few weeks ago to try to boost it up to T1 and shake things up, and ever since Yak’s Bend has been absolutely crushing the other two T2 servers, so they don’t bother showing up after Monday or Tuesday night.
The Glicko system sucks balls, as does the whole current state of affairs concerning Worlds, overpopulation/underpopulation and servers facing each other for months on end.
I feel like WvW needs to be redesigned in some way. Why not, Lion’s Arch went through 2 or 3 redesigns, they could put some time into WvW, right??? haha

Worried about the future of WvW? worry about the future of the game. People aren’t playing wvw because anet destroyed it. Server transfers, lag, utility skill changes, there is no future here.
You forgot to mention cmdrs tagging up drunk screwing up maps, Any organized WvW goes though TS which has kitten berating you for any mistake or blaming you for all of them.
Like I play GW2 to listen to some pimply faced elitist kitten on me for playing a video game, I think there enough crow to eat in real life never mind some wanbe videogame hero.
Lastly I started playing and have tried to play this game for WvW only but it full of hacks, bots. afkers, elite punks, drama to the lama its actually not fun to play anymore.
Flame on don’t care, Iv’e heard enough crap from my server to know its full of lousy people, not play skill, just ignorant, self entitled ……. you get the rest.
FA server sucks stay away.
I have played this game from launch and only gotten one ascended chest from that new mist zone everyone says is not wvw.
I’ve only recently returned to playing several hours a day, about 3 -4 months now and from what I see linked from other players getting from drops daily and some got 3 beta portals or more you can’t say this luck system for loot is not somehow messed up.
I know the debate, read tons of arguments, counter arguments, plain fact is even with the best guild buffs, food anything that adds to magic find I still get crap all the time.
One ascended drop for all the hours I log a day I don’t think so.
From a game that toted the gear treadmill would never be like other RPGs I think it’s all a bunch of crap.
I have little gold to spend on runes of the traveler and other high end runes that as of last night were 5 gold a pop, torment 13 gold etc
I read wvw build posts and look up the suggested gear to go along with the builds.
There is a significant difference in overall stats, whatever they may be ie condition duration for example between the pink highlighted gear vs exotic.
I check to see what gear it is and I see pink color with dire, or some affix to the gear.
Regardless of if the gear is ascended or celestial or whatever pink represents it’s all better than exotic stats and other stat benefits. just saying its a 5 %. difference or whatever the actual number is not a complete picture.
Waiting or hoping for ascended gear to drop without being able to craft it while tons of other people have bis gear is crapola system.
The only character I don’t have at 80 is a warrior. I have tried all current suggested specs on all of my 80s for wvw and get smoke checked 90% of the time.
Why? Because when I see legendary weapons glowing some the size of a building I know not only does this person have the best weapon stats in the game they all but sure have the gear to go along with it.
I know here it comes, you can’t play your class, you suck at wvw etc.
Truth is before ascended I never had issues hardly at all, part of reason I stopped playing.
ante and other won’t admit how borked things are just with gear treadmill alone never mind class issues, necro example or broken abiliteies.
4 months back same old exotic gear Now I know why I left in the first place.
Gear treadmill needs an overhaul, screw the ring drop formula its crap

They could drop for you in a fractal, Teq/Tri Wurm chest. You can also obtain them from WvW Rank Up chests and some Champ Bags/Boxes.
You can also obtain a couple of ascended armour chests from achievements such as Ambrite Weapon Collector and the Luminescent Armour collection absolutely guaranteed with a full choice of stats/pieces/weights.
That’s 6/7 ways of getting it other than crafting, which is pretty reasonable considering ascended gear is only required for a tiny portion of the game.
I have almost 4000 hours played and I’ve never seen a ascended piece drop for myself. I’ve seen one drop for a friend of mine.
I gotta LOL at those examples you gave.
BTW I hate hate hate crafting. I just finished a set of light ascended and I’d guess it cost 600g when all was said and done.
you sir are the most unlucky person in tyria. I get an asc chest drop at least once a week.

Not sure if this is the proper forum but I’d like to see some of the items expired from the Gem Store returned so returning founders/vets whatever you classify us at has a chance to grab things no longer in the game/store.
example (correct me if I’m wrong) the brown feathery wings you see some players with, some of the permanent harvesting tools that have the same theme, lava axe/logging /lava mining pick etc.
I’m sure there are lots more but I feel like the Gem Store rotation of items lately has been bleh, what do you all think?

Hey NeXed, I wanted to personally say thanks to that informative post and your links to your builds.
I changed my build which I definitely kitten and I’m surviving and putting out a lot more hurt from your first build.
I noly have WVW exotic gear mostly meh but your build helped strengthen what I was trying to do with the wrong build/traits, thanks again.
Have you actually won a game in ranked against decent opponents? I can’t find you on the current or old leaderboards….. not that it matters that much…
Look your trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, and I think after playing enough ranked games you’ll figure it out.

If you are having trouble with surviving against certain classes, builds, situations maybe I can help. When I was fist breaking into pvp I too attempted to go the tankier route and I too thought I was “right” eventually you figure out why the meta builds are what they are. It’s because they fill roles…. yours is attempting to fill a role better suited by eles and engis….. also you keep saying theives… as a power necro you should be like 2 shotting them…. if one comes near me when I have daggers out and he doesn’t have a stunbreak I’m going to kill him in 2 seconds. That being said I’m of the opinion that a good theives, mesmers, and medi guards give power necros some trouble…. but the theif has to play perfectly…. if he screws up I get to melt him.
I just wanted to say thanks for posting that video and taking the time to explain/show how exactly it all translates out. I’m currently lv 54 on my Necro (loving your build so far) 80 Mesmer, Engineer. I put both other 80’s on the shelf and have been wvw on my Necro since lv 4. At level 40 I read/watched your post and video and I’ve never had so much fun in wvw before, thanks again.
