Hey guys, I think I found the solution but need testers: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/story/I-ve-found-a-fix-for-Forging-the-Pact-srs/first#post241957
Alright,
My first try on forging the pact was more or less pretty smooth. Once I finished I got my reward and headed out. When I logged back in I saw I had to do the entire quest again. I didn’t know why and I lost my reward, I think I was rolled back or something. So I gave it two days as I really hated doing the quest and reattempted today.
My first try today (second total) the quest got bugged with the glitch where the explorers will not follow you. Okay, annoying. So I gathered up a group of people also having trouble with the quest or wanting to do it. Again, SAME bug with a group of 4 people. We restarted and made sure Trahearn did not die, and we succeeded on our second try.
I got a pop up asking if I wanted to stay here (Forging the Pact) or move onto Tower Down (or something like that). When I read this I thought that if I accepted it I would immediately start the next quest – something which I did not want to do. So I clicked the “stay here” (or something like that) button. Then I found out I got no reward.
So I asked my party members if they got their reward, and they did. Okay, it didn’t give me a reward. No big deal. I exit only to find out it wants me to do it a FIFTH time. No progress, no nothing.
ArenaNet, please let me skip this quest. Why would I purposely want to do this long and difficult quest again? Not only that, I get no reward for it apparently. I have finished TWICE, and have attempted this quest four times in total. Please, just let me skip to the tower defense quest. There is no way I can keep Trahearne alive meaning I’ll have to look for another party, which will take long. Even with a party we had difficulty keep Trahearne alive (and we need to keep him alive otherwise the quest bugs out).
Proof:
http://i.imgur.com/8ra6q.jpg – You can clearly see I targeted Dzhudin Stormbreak the boss and the quest is finished.

Before you blame me, look at it this way:
-I’ve completed this quest twice. Once solo, once with a party.
-The first time I got rolled back. I am sure of this as I don’t remember their being a pop up the first time I completed it. This was not my fault in any way what so ever.
-The UI for the progression stage was very ambiguous in its meaning the second time. I have never seen a screen like it before. This was my first time seeing such a screen as I cannot remember any other prompt in my personal story which forced me to redo a quest.
-If I have to do this quest again, I will likely end up doing it again 2-4 more times because of the major glitch in the quest which causes the explorers to stop following you.
Bump.
Still no solution in sight and not a word from Anet besides automated messages telling me how to deactivate email authentication.
I think you guys can try to change your e-mails and see if you get the instructions there and then return to the main later on once verified. This advise might screw you guys more than it might help so… Sounds sensible though right?
Yeah, I really would rather not do that as I’m using my most secure e-mail currently and would rather not switch.
Really hope I can get an answer today. More and more people are being hacked, and not having this set up seems like a huge risk.
You’re not permanently changing it, just temporarily so you can receive the verification instructions then change the e-mails back. You can even choose not to acknowledge your IP as the permanent/safe one til you switch back to your secure e-mail so you’re really sure if you’ll receive the e-mails later on at the main address. As I said that this can mess your account more than it’ll fix so it’s up to you if you really want to play as soon as possible or wait.
I have already verified my e-mail. Does this mean that my account is already using email authentication? I don’t think that is the case since they have said this in their article on keeping safe “Set up Guild Wars Account E-mail Authentication when it becomes available.”.
I haven’t set anything up yet, nor have I authorized my own computer yet. Guess I’ll have to wait this one out.

So I just received a follow up on the e-mail I sent to support.
Guild Wars Support RobotHello,
Thanks for contacting Guild Wars 2! After a quick review of your ticket we feel that the information below could resolve your issue. If none of this helps, please reply to this email with any additional information you can provide.
If you were previously experiencing an issue with the Guild Wars E-mail Authentication System or resetting your password, please follow the directions below.
1. Go to https://account.guildwars2.com/recovery
2. In the “Email / Account Name” field, enter the email address used for your Guild Wars 2 account.
3. In the “Serial Code” field, enter the serial code you registered to the account.
4. In the “Character Name” field, enter the name of an existing character on your account.
5. Click “Verify.”
Something tells me they really didn’t review what I sent them as I made sure to emphasize the part of me not even be able to get this set up and that it was NOT an email regarding DEactivating the authentication system. Of course its understandable Anet is using automated responses/skimming through emails and picking out keywords due to the large amounts of requests they are getting. Just hope they get on this soon.
Of course I tried to reply back but when I try to create a support account it says that my email is already in use. So I tried logging in using my GW2 login, but nope. Says its not a valid login and the password is wrong.
I’m pretty much a sitting duck at this point just waiting to get hacked.

Glad to know I’m not the only one. Tried contacting them on Twitter but no response yet.
Guild Wars 2 Support PageHere are the steps you should take to protect your account using the Guild Wars Account E-mail Authentication System:
- Log in to Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2.
- Accept the on-screen prompt to Verify your e-mail address.
- You will be e-mailed instructions on how to verify your e-mail address.
- Once your e-mail address is verified, your Guild Wars account will be linked to the Guild Wars e-mail authentication system.
The above are the steps the Guild Wars 2 Support page provides for setting up e-mail authentication.
However, when I logged in I received no prompt what so ever. Neither in the client, nor on the site. I have so far tried clearing my cache/cookies as well as trying different browsers and computer. Yet I still received no prompt.
Any ideas on how I can set it up?
