I believe you got confused by the registration and upgrading process (which is a mistake I almost made as well).

If you’re upgrading a current account, you shouldn’t need to enter an email address at all. If I recall correctly the process was to go to My Account on the top of the website, then to Game Content, then scroll down to Add Code and plug in the code you got with your HoT purchase.

It sounds like what happened was you mistook the Registration process as the upgrading process (which normally would make sense, but ANet rolled Core into HoT to “simplify” the purchasing process, because people are apparently intimidated by seeing more than one item in a store) and accidentally created a brand new HoT account using your old email address (which isn’t actually linked to your main account anymore, customer service would have unlinked it to prevent further compromises after you asked them to switch to the new email).

Crazy.. No, that makes complete sense. I’ll just go through the “upgrade” process and request a refund on the other.

You will have to wait for support respond. Sound like you use HoT code and make a new account with it. Way to register HoT to current account is log in to GW2 website go to “my account” link (this link you can also see under you display name here on forum) and in there is place to add code to account to upgrade to HoT. But you can not do this now because look like you use code and make different account. Support probably fix this all for you when they respond.

Yeah, I saw there was 2 different ways to go about getting HoT. I figured they would both be upgrades if I already had an account.. /sigh

My issue is difficult to explain, so I hope you all can follow..

Actions Taken:
- Purchased HoT..

- Attempted to register HoT with the email linked to my MAIN account.. FAILURE
(Doing this populated the incorrect account name for my MAIN account)

- Attempted to register HoT with alt email also linked to my MAIN account.. SUCCESS
(However, this email is no longer used to access my MAIN account due to assistance from Anet, involving a compromised account)

- Knowing these 2 email address tie to the same account name, I proceed to log into my MAIN account.. HoT content is NOT present!

- Logged into GW2 via the OLD email, which is no longer used (but tied to my MAIN account still).. HoT content IS present – on a naked account!!!

- Opened a ticket…

LOGIC:
So, it appears that my account has 2 heads.. My MAIN account did not upgrade, even though I used the correct information in my initial attempt to apply HoT (which failed). Instead I had to use the old email and now have 2 accounts. Each accessed via a different email address, which are tied to the SAME account!!!

I’d ask for a refund, but at this point I dunno WHICH account will be deactivated!

Has anyone else had this issue? Can anyone shine any light on this?

More or less the same issue.. Called ISP also, Firewall also, Router settings also, Security Settings also.. I’ve created a ticket on the issue so.. /shrug

In further attempts to rectify said issue.. I’ve attempted to launch the game on my laptop.

I have been able to log in via my laptop (accepted my login creds.. Guild mates have stated they see my account online as well). However, I believe this has only worked, because the client on my laptop is not current (up to date).

In hopes to mimic this process, I will uninstall/reinstall GW2 on my main PC. I’m hoping that I will be able to log in since the client won’t be “up to date”.

UPDATE: I was able to fully log in and into the game. I also checked my Firewall Allowed Programs. There are at least 4-5 items labeled GW2 in the Allowed Programs list. There is none located in the Allowed Programs via my main PC. I’m still leaning toward a corrupted patch/update/whatever..

*UPDATE: I had successfully uninstalled GW2 from my main PC. However, since I had forgotten to get a disk drive for this PC.. I have now attempted to install GW2 via digital d/l. Upon doing so.. The d/l shifts from “Not Responding” to responding, a lot. I don’t view this as normal by any means.. I’ve performed a restore as well. Restoring my PC to 4 days ago, in hopes to further move the issue from my end. This has not helped the initial issue at all.. I now do not have GW2 installed on my PC and am unable to d/l GW2 via digital d/l..

I will update this post accordingly with my findings.

Any suggestions?

Upon further sifting.. I find something called Premier Opinion in my system tray. I believe I may have obtained this from a bunked java update site. I’ve removed this program/virus and I am now able to install GW2 via digital d/l and have successfully logged in.

I hope the crammed together post of mine, help those having a similar issues.

I agree but we still need to re-explore the zones we had b4 do we not? I really ment we just need to push into the rest of Tyria unlocking all those named zones and what a better way to do that than have the Living World take us there and revamp the old zones and bring back what was once playable areas of GW.

Now that I’ve achieved 4 lvl 80’s, nearing the end on a legendary, ran all the dungeons, and explored every possible area available… I’ve been doing exactly what every other person would do that loves this game and wants it to continue forward. What, oh, you wanna know what that is? Alright, I’ll tell you..

YouTubed the _ out of every decent/crap piece of GW lore available.. Not to mention, reading the GW2 Wiki. Well, attempting rather.. I can’t get through a paragraph without clicking on EVERY link I come across. It’s not like the links stop there either.. I know some of you feel my pain.

Anyway, this obviously has had an impact on me.

What are these places we cannot go to?
Why are they on the map if we can’t go there?
Will we ever be able to go there?
What is this living story business about?
Will the living story let ME (not having played GW) be able to explore the past since we’re obviously “living” through new content?

These are just some of the questions that I have as well as others..

Yes.. this is GW2. But seriously.. If you’ve done the research I’ve done, i’m sure it’s easy to see that there is a ton of loose-ends EVERYWHERE. There is literally hundreds of ways we could link the future with the past and visa/versa. The Bazaar for example was NEW content, but we could easily revisit the origin of the Zyphyrites which (per wiki) are of Canthan and Elonian descent. I won’t get started on the Crystal Desert..

So yeah.. It’s doable A-Net

March Into Perdition [BURN]: OPEN RECRUITMENT

What to expect when expecting Perdition:

• VOIP Server (Mic communication)
• Experienced and knowledgeable players w/various gaming backgrounds
• Valuable insight on Class Builds, Crafting Guides, and other useful “tips and tricks”
• A friendly player-base (I know.. I never thought perdition would be this awesome either!)
• WvW Strategy Discussion and Training
• Dungeon Strategy Discussion and Training
• XPT (Assisting in leveling characters)

Just some ways we like to show appreciation:

• Promotions (This is obvious. However, a rank is something that is earned. We respect that.)
• Assistance in suiting up (ie: Gear, Weapons, Jewelry, etc.)

Who is [BURN] exactly?
We are a relatively small guild at the moment. This being the case, we are currently casual. At this time, we are currently assisting member in leveling to be able to run dungeons for the obvious benefits. We do, however, plan to turn our focus to a more WvW oriented one. It is our goal to be able to assist JQ and all of it’s residence efficiently and effectively in our constant fight to be the best server out there. We have a vision in mind that we hope will bring the challenge back to WvW before it is too late. So, if you were looking for your basic zerging guild (in hopes to ride it effortlessly) with a little “havoc” mixed in.. you should probably kick rocks, as there are more than enough of that type of guild out there..

/agreed OP. Why take away credibility?? Why would you NOT want people to know it was you spiking them in the ground? Why would you not want that kind of rivalry, community, and excitement? If you answered anything other than “exactly!”, then maybe this isn’t the easymode you were looking for. PvP in this game is already made easy enough. Does it really need to be made worse? So if you can’t grow a backbone then maybe you should think about going back to facebook games.
