I have the problem too, especially when turning / changing direction. I like the animations, but I feel sick after a short while.

OR you could just wait and see if it’s fun and not rant before you have even played it. You know about mounts.. they could also make maps smaller so you don’t need waypoints, and I’ve always hated GTA maps being too big so I had to drive around in a car.

Me, I’m super excited from the trailer and the anncouncement. I was critical of HoT but I got more than my money’s worth and they have learned their lessons (see pricing, content). Take my money, Anet.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what the season 3 story was really about. For me – someone who is not overly familiar with the lore – it was just random encounters and shreds of stories that were picked up episode by episode. There was no real thread (or threat!) running through the season and I don’t really know where we are going now or why (well, obviously the Crystal Desert, but.. you know..). It’s not the end of the world since I care about the gameplay experience more, but I had a better idea of what was happening in season 2. That being said – overall the concept (length, new maps) of season 3 was better.

Thank you to the team who was responsible for episodes 1, 2, 4 and 5 and their respective maps. The other team.. well you tried but it was not fun.

The new map is fine. As with Bitterfrost there’s the achievement problem (too many necessary to complete the episode). The map is okay, but unlike Silverwastes I don’t really see a reason to go back here. I don’t think maps need to be just centered around a big event like Silverwastes and Dragon Stand, but some world event with a boss and some nice loot would create an incentive to visit from time to time.

Buying waypoints: Please. Stop. Right. Now.

The jumping puzzle: Easily one of the best in the game. It’s possible to do it, and the checkpoint system is fair. Having completed it felt like an achievement. I was close to giving up in the section right after the second checkpoint but I’m glad I didn’t.

New legendary weapons look great. New items in the bank are great too.

My friend who does fractals says to please not make them like a raid. Everyone is LFG at the last boss, which shouldn’t really be the case.

So by not fixing the issues with Bitter Cold with today’s patch you are telling us this is how you intended it to work and you don’t really listen to pages and pages of complaints. That’s.. not unexpected. But once again a lack of communication and weird decisions leave a bad taste in my mouth. How could this kitten elixir system possibly benefit you or any of your players? Just.. why?

To quote someone from above:

- Not enough WP’s, or useful Ley Lines and Tubes.
- Daily reset of Cold resistance is irritating.

Both of these are terrible. Add to that the fact that you don’t have spare achievements, and all things considered this is by far the weakest episode of LS3 yet.

Got stuck in the ice waterfall today and because of missing WPs I had to walk the whole way back. Just terrible.

Things like the elixir kitten void all the good work you do with these maps because instead of having fun people get frustrated and instead of playing more you risk alienating them. I thought GW2 was all about not artificially trying to make life complicated for the players..

Edit: I really don’t get how you could release two of your very best maps with the previous releases and then drop something like this that feels like it was created by someone who thought the first versions of the HoT maps were not quite annoying enough and who learned absolutely nothing from the feedback in those days.

Chuka III & IV

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

JakeMagnus.4035

It’s not technically a bug, but maybe some oversight in putting the collections together that should be corrected.

Both Chuka III and IV need a Lesser Vision Crystal, and Chuka IV needs a Heat Stone. Both of those things are not craftable with a Huntsman, while everything else in the collection (even the food and the milk!) is.

Could you please correct this? Lesser Vision Crystal is the more annoying of the two as you can’t buy it on the trading post.

Spent all day trying to get the Tormentor achievement today. First two times I wasn’t sure if I’d dealt enough damage, but third time I did, so pretty sure this is bugged. Got neither achievement nor mastery point.

January 26 Patch Notes - Thoughts?

I thought they were so proud of HoT, so why don’t they fix the stuff that is wrong there? (map closings, megaserver problems, losing map contribution when disconnecting, not being able to get back when disconnecting) I’d think these would be issues of high priority, but apparently they are not. I’m very surprised to say the least..

Next expans. & fixes that need to happen now

I was very sceptical of the expansion at first and I have to say the first few weeks in the jungle were very frustrating. I didn’t know where to go, didn’t find enough people to play with and when exploring (the thing I like the most) always ended up dead somewhere in the middle of nowhere.

But then I started to find things that I liked and avoided things that I don’t, and while I’m still baffled by some choices (the grind for experience and map currencies is insane), I think overall it wasn’t all bad. I realize that it’s very little content and that it’s gated like hell, but if you take a little time it’s okay I guess. (If I hadn’t spent the time in game that I did in the past few weeks I would have walked away dissatisfied though – if you don’t have a lot of time it’s very frustrating and you don’t get to play half the content.)

My favorite map is Auric Basin. It’s vertical but not too much, it’s big but not confusing, it’s got lots of events and a great story (Skritt!), and the meta event is doable and rewarding.

Least favorite is Tangled Depths of course. It’s just a mess and I have a hard time getting to events and finding enough people still. Too bad because it’s like they had a good idea and then completely went overboard with the map design and complexity and verticality.

Verdant Brink is okay but annoying to navigate mainly because of missing and contested waypoints. I would play it much more if it had two or three more waypoints and most of them weren’t contested all the time.

Dragon’s Stand is also okay, but first of all it’s not really a map and second the event is too long while awarding too little time for exploration at the end. And even with the 64bit client I have had a few sad disconnects in all the wrong moments.

I like where they go with the quarterly updates and hope that they manage to balance content and moneygrabbing a bit better moving forward. Sometimes lately it’s gotten a bit too obvious..

All in all I’m okay with where the game is now but they need to work on the right stuff now and learn some lessons from HoT. I think a lot of players would profit from some critical QoL fixes (see below) and that would go a long way towards keeping people happy.

Things to do better next time:
- Make smaller maps as well, maybe a new mid level map
- Consider putting other events than just meta events in them as well
- A 2 hour event like DS is probably a bit too long
- Put in some more waypoints, and place them where they aren’t contested all the time
- Gating story progress or map progress is not fun, at least not to the extent it was done here

The things that need to be fixed first (now!):
- Adjust the LFG tools by giving all HoT maps and SW a different tab each
- Adjust megaserver to make it more likely for people to land in a populated map
- Save map progress and hold a place in the map for 1-2 minutes in case of disconnects
- Put the keys from each map (machetes etc.) in the wallet where they belong – or make a separate tab for them. I know they are probably not yet in there to make more bank and inventory space necessary, but really it’s all being a bit too much and it’s probably annoying people more than it’s bringing in money (and no the new account wide inventory slots are not a practical solution for this).

Dry Top concept art

I agree, it’s horrible and easily the ugliest art in the game. Though new Lion’s Arch and Kessex Hills aren’t far behind. They do absolutely nothing for me.

Apparently this has been bugged forever, so I’m not getting my hopes up. Here’s the two bugs I encountered though:

- In Stormy Station you sometimes fall down to Tyria to a different section of Metrica Province.
- The way I understood how the teleportation device worked was that you could start from the last Asura portal you reached once you got attuned there. However, everytime I fell down in Stormy Station I could only teleport to Windy Station (the times when I didn’t fall all the way down).

Feedback/Questions: The Megaserver System: World Bosses and Events

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

JakeMagnus.4035

I have been very critical of the game as of late, especially because of Living Story and the lack of new permanent and good content. But I can not for the life of me understand what is happening in this forum now… Complaint after complaint after complaint, mixed with some whining about trivial kitten.

Why don’t you wait for the patch and get accustomed to it, and then maybe bring you concerns here? Maybe you will have to change certain ways in which you play the game… So what. You will adapt, and if a constant World Boss farm train is all that keeps you in the game, then maybe you should move on.

I for one like the fact that more people will be in most of the maps, and that maybe I’ll get to do some minor events that were not possible with the lack of people around sometimes. And it gets rid of random overflows, one of the most annoying things in the game.

You know what? I’ve been playing ESO for a few days now and man does it suck to not be able to play with my friend half the time since we’re in different instances.* And boy is that world lifeless. I am much much more motivated to return to GW soon (as soon as we get expansion content) than I was before, and I appreciate what we have and whatever things are done to make the game better.

  • Edit: If you think this is or will be a problem with GW after the Megaservers, really you have not seen how bad it is when it really doesn’t work like in ESO.

Massive graphics issue

in Account & Technical Support

JakeMagnus.4035

I reinstalled Windows 7 on my laptop yesterday and afterwards played GW2 for quite a while with no problems at all. Today when I tried to play again, I had massive issues with graphics – seeing blue lines and weird textures all over the place (see image).

I already updated the Nvidia GeForce driver and emptied the GW2 cache. Both didn’t help.

I have a packard bell laptop with Intel I7-2670QM with GeForce GT 540M, 2 GB VRAM. Never had a problem so far and been playing for almost a year.

Does anyone have another idea what I could do, or is this an issue someone else has had?

Waypoint statistics

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

JakeMagnus.4035

I wonder if there is any statistic about what waypoint makes the most money. Obviously ’Trader’s Forum’ in Lion’s Arch would be number one, but what others are the most visited ones?

(Not saying Anet should spend time and money to find out. Keep working on the expansion instead.)

Thanks for the Overflow fest!

I agree, this is total kitten. I just spent half an hour in overflow while my friends were on the main server with the puppet event on. I couldn’t join them, even though we were in a party, because the server was full. And the overflow was on a different timer so who knows when it would have started.

At least start the event at the same time on all the servers and on all the overflows.

This is horrible and by far the worst Living ‘Story’ update so far. The worst of a lot of bad ones. It’s making me so angry I just want to quit this kitten.

Minis always vanishing

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: JakeMagnus.4035

JakeMagnus.4035

I don’t know if this is actually a bug or not, but it has already been asked once on the forum and there hasn’t been an official answer as far as I have seen. So…

The minis vanish all the time. If you use a waypoint (sometimes), change the map, go down in battle, deposit things in the bank (unless you have an invisible bag) – it’s gone. And you have to actively look for them to activate them (which I often forget since the invisible bag is way down in the inventory).

Since there are more and more minis that can be bought and received from achievements, I suspect that you WANT us to use and collect them. So why are you making it so hard?

Why do they have to vanish all the time? And why not have a separate mini slot in the inventory that automatically activates them? (Or any other improvement that makes them more useable.) I’d even pay a few gems for that.
