Experience: Thief was my first class. Mostly use to gank in wvw. looking for ways to fine tune my skills. maybe max out gear for wvw. loyal to the old school d/d but wouldn’t mind learning how to play the meta.
Link doesn’t work. At least in my iphone
d / d and staff are great in WvW! Just need a clever build.
keep telling yourself that, all i see when i see a D/D Ele now is easy badges.
I’ve noticed very few kills in his videos as of late. Impressive but most of the time he’s trolling zergs. Dd ele doesn’t have the respect it once had, partially due to necro and warrior and ranger buffs. Wish it did. It was the reason I leveled ele
Oh you must mean the necro warrior buff discussion like the last one. I really do hope the devs and the hosts do take some kittening initiative to give the player population a fair representation rather than having a kitten for a couple of them.
Whoops. Put me down as tester.

Yo. Name: janina noire
Wvw and pvp mostly
kitten dude. I run the black water build with minor tweaks. I use arcane thievery for utils. I find between my torch skills and my invis I have tons of cleanse and regen that make conditions bearable. In fact. I have yet to have trouble w those classes. Could be I haven’t met the good ones yet. Try thievery and disenchanter. Or try torch cleanse trait. Osicat has a great vid on how to deal w neceos
Love the build but I need help w conditions. I do fine against direct damage but other condition heavy classes do well against me. Any suggestions?
Nice build. A few questions though.
Why all the initiative regen traits? You’re using one move most of the time and yes 5 initiative cost but I doubt you need so much unless your constantly missing it.
This is a build that is constantly in and out of stealth and I see noooooo shadow arts traits. That makes no sense. You’re missing out on condition removal. Stealth duration. Regen. Initiative regen. Movement speed. Might stacks.
You’re also missing an aspect of the building. Weakness. Lotus poison gives weakness when you poison. Right now the only poison you have is steal. Meaning your opponents will be hurting you more.
Energy sigils? I understand the benefits of consistent dodging but you’re losing significant bleed duration and damage. Anyone running lemongrass in wvw will severely cut your damage output.
I think you should rework the build and understand the main mechanics of your build. Stealth and bleeds. If you find it works more power to you.
@Ozii
Thanks man. Thank link already helped me out a lot. I use valks as I haven’t gotten cav trinkets. May get those tonight.
Hey guys.
Having a dilemma playing my ele. I run 0 10 0 30 30. My gear is all ppt with boon duration runes. Half my accs are celestial ascended and half are valkys. Weapons are also ppt.
My issue is 1v1 in pvp. And even small skirmishes. My damage isn’t up to par unless I have full bloodlust and sig of battle stacks up. My surviving ability also seems less than what this build is known for. I’m thinking either I suck or this build doesn’t suit my gameplay. I mainly play a burst thief and shatter mesmer.
I beleive its that im too impatient and suck at cooldown management. love the class and would love it even more to be better at it.
If anyone’s available for duels or comments feel free to reach out. I’m on isle of janthir btw. Ele mentor ftw
Go gc shatter and 7 clone shatter them when they appear.
But seriously. With a phant build u have so many options. Drop 15 points to get protection and regen from phantasm. Stand in your chaos storm. It gives u a guaranteed block. Look into sword and scepter. 2 blocks right there that can deal a lot of damage. Decoy to throw them off. You have more tools than a thief abuse them. Heck drop phant defender w sig if illusion if you need the extra def.
Hope this helps. They’re not really that bad as long as you know your class and how they work.
Sweet vid. I find it interesting how some people play a phantasm build that is either offensive or defensive. Currently I play a more defensive one focused on blocks. But your vid def outlines some solid strengths I may want to incorporate into my build
I run a scepter/sword and staff build. After my phantasms give me the upper hand, people tend to flee. My only cc using this set is staff 5. I could use the sig that gives 2 sec daze or mantra of distraction but I find them hardly efficient and take a utility slot that I would rather use for something else.
What can I do to get the finish in these fights without them running away?
