Hello!

I’m Jaskra and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintaince! I am currently looking for a guild to call home. I’ve been playing the game for a couple years now. I once ran my own very large guild called I Wanna Be A Super Villain [EVIL] before life didn’t allow for it. I’m now a more casual player that enjoys primarily WvW zerging/roaming, but who would love a player base to join in WvW as well as dungeons, and other PvE content. I try to be as helpful to others as I can and enjoy having folks to socialize with in guild chat and on TS/Vent. I’m looking for an active guild. Meaning one that will actually respond when you say hello and doesn’t have 10-20 people not representing. I know that sounds silly…but I’ve have had a hard time finding these basic features after joining even some very large guilds. I’m looking for a friendly, talkative, not afraid to joke around group of people. I have a decent understanding of dungeons, and an excellent understanding of WvW. I’m willing to learn what I don’t know and I’ll follow any instructions so I won’t hinder my group. ^_~

I think I`m just too old to understand the crazy “I deserve being rewarded for what I do for fun!” attitude generation…

You were honestly expecting good rewards? Since when does ANet properly reward hard work? XD I got my title; beyond that I figured I’d be lucky to get blue/greens because that’s what they have shown me I should expect for my efforts.

Is it fair? Eh, not really, but everyone took the carrot on the stick and ran with it just the same.

What would I have liked to see? Exclusive armor/weapon skins would have been nice, the Dolyak finisher being permanent, a keg of liquid WvW xp, fine transmutation stones (since they’re so rare), an exclusive inventory bag (like Karka event one), a non-ranged chest, to name a few. But I didn’t anticipate any of it happening.

I play WvW because I enjoy it. I did the Season 1 for the title.

As it stands, will I strive for Season 2 achievements? Probably not, if I get them through regular play then maybe I’ll get them, but I’m not going to bother really trying for it again. FYI; on a Tier 1 server. BG comes from behind and beats the favored, woot!

Okay so….I haven’t done this with my Mesmer yet…but on my Necro I soloed it and ran a good portion of the tower without a zerg (mostly because the chambers put me in Overflows w/o my 1 party member). Both my Necro & Mesmer are decked out in full Knight’s gear (Tough/Prec/Power). 1 Ascended amulet on each, with MF utility, exotics for the rest. Berzerker gems on the Necro & Condition/Toughness on the Mesmer. I have no problem soloing stuff in general on either character? Keep in mind they’re both built for survivability in their builds/gear and I dodge/evasion run constantly. I keep condition clears up on Mesmer, and Consume Conditions on Necro. Not sure what class you play, but I hope it gives you some ideas all the same.

So yeah… played a female human necro in the tower…didn’t catch that at all. Lmao…XD

Yes, Anet has some very blanant female-female relationships that are sexual in nature, Caith and Faolain obviously. They also have blatantly hetero relationships as well, sylvari couple – you have to help rescue the female from the nightmare court (I remember doing it, dont recall if its a quest or part of the personal story, think its personal story), the newlywed couple out in Gendarren Fields, just to name a couple. There are many more.

Logan is obviously in love with Jennah, and from conversations/scenes, it’s also obvious she returns those feelings but hasn’t had the nads to do anything about it. Yes Jennah and Anise are obviously close, as Rytlock and Logan once were. This does not mean they are sexually interested in each other though.

Some people form strong bonds with their friends, and can get jealous of that friendship if they feel something might threaten it. It’s simply a territorial instinct, if you want to look at it that way.

And no, not always lol. But unlike the average population it’s a, “norm” in my life being around that kind of camaraderie and having it actually stem from a sexual/intimate relationship. So when I see it, it is now the first thing to come to mind. Additionally, as you said ANet has no problem with blatant homosexual or heterosexual relationships, so why not subtle ones? Am I completely set in this notion? Nah, if they’re homosexual or heterosexual I don’t really care, mostly I replied to the thread because I found the discussion interesting. I don’t usually get behind fictional relationships unless they are truly canon…headcanon (look up in urban dictionary if unfamiliar) is beyond me because I tend to be an equal opportunist when it comes to that sort of thing. If I can see it and like it then I pretty much go, “Okay, let’s roll with it!” for basically any a pairing of fictional characters. But yes, as I said it was my first impression.

Would carrion be a viable alternative at all? Toughness sucks pretty hard in PvE, so while you wouldn’t have power as your main stat, having power, cond damage and vit gives you three relevant stats on objects versus PVT’s … 2.5 relevant stats. Then again I have zero experience with applying conditions with my mesmer beyond bleeds from sharper images and vuln on sword and I know bosses hit the cap pretty quickly, so…

You got it right in your last sentence. The main method of bleed application for mesmers is sharper images. Tequatl is a gadget. You can’t crit on gadgets. No crits = no need for precision + no need for crit chance + no ability to apply bleeds + no need or condition damage.

On top of that, bosses do get ….everything capped pretty much instantly, so conditions are mostly useless. Power is the only relevant attack stat against gadgets.

Wow…that was an eye opener…talk about narrow play-style when dealing with bosses then. Thanks…didn’t know that. >_>

My guess is Pyro votes Wardens since they’ll appear at Teq’s head, and be immune to his attack-spam.

I concur. The reflection is the key element to the Warden phantasms, and the Swordsmen do not have that. I’m going to see how they do in my next fight. It seems like a reasonable strategy.

Also was thinking of Feedback, Null Field, and Improved Condition Damage. Think I might re-specialize for increased duration and reduced timer on Glamour as well.

I briefly considered Illusion of Life, since it’s an AoE to get people up in the mass down that occurs, but since there is a slim likelihood that the temporarily raised people would be able to to get back up permanently by killing something it seems like a poor choice indeed. Pity.

Hrmm, thanks for the heads up and advice folks. =) Been in on a few fights, but I haven’t seen a win yet. Was looking for what best I could do to help my fellows out. Still, it’s really cool that my guild was able to participate in the first kill though. Just wish I’d been there for it. XD

We’re a large adult PvE/PvX guild.. The primary objective of the guild is to play and chat with our fellow guildies by exploring the maps, questing, defeating dungeons, conquering challenging jumping puzzles, completing guild missions and participating in WvW.

I Wanna Be A Super Villain [EVIL] is on Blackgate and we’re a PvX guild. This means we dabble in everything! =D We actually just started our first Guild Mission: Guild Bounty tonight! It was a lot of fun and we’re looking for more people to join in! We’re trying to maintain an active roster and as such we ask that our member Represent 100% of the time. What’s the point of being in a guild if there is no one there to talk with, am I right? ;-) Myself and my co-leader both WvW regularly as well as run the PvE aspects of the game. We don’t currently have tPvP going, but if there is enough interest we may do it in the future!

Face it, PvE sucks in ths game. The End.

No, PvE doesn’t suck in this game. Dungeons suck. They were tacked on without any significant polish for dungeon mongers and it’s obvious when you play them.

Here is why:

1) The rewards are crappy. I can’t use it, and I usually can’t sell it. I make more money working the Trading Post in 10-15min than I do spending (x) hours running a so called “profitable” dungeon. The token rewards have hit/miss stats and mediocre to hideous skins. Not to mention you have to GRIND and insane amount to get the tokens for said sets.

2) The experience (assuming you’re leveling) is crappy, you can get 1-2 levels by completing a map in the time it takes to complete 1 dungeon. In comparison you’ll only get a 1/4 (or 1/3 if you’re lucky) in dungeon.

3) They take too long with your average PuG, & most people I run into want nothing to do with them. Which is why you end up having to resort to a PuG. Most of the people I have run with don’t know what they’re doing and even if you try to tell them they don’t listen. These dungeons are really hard if people don’t pay attention. You can’t steam roll them like the ones in WoW. I don’t care how fast people say you can run them in I haven’t seen a dungeon take 30min-1hr yet. Unless you’ve got a group of veterans in your team it isn’t going to happen. I don’t care that they’re hard, that’s fine, but hard + crappy rewards, wtf mate.

These elements of GW2 PvE area awesome:

Reactive gameplay, open questing, open & dynamic events system, jumping puzzles, guild missions (can’t wait to unlock Rush & Puzzles), map level-down system, dailies that aren’t grindy, individual instanced gathering, and experience galore from everything you do to name a handful.

Heya Terse!

I am Jaskra. I’m the leader of I Wanna Be a Super Villain [EVIL] a PvE/PvX guild on the server Blackgate and our guild might just the the style you’re looking for. I am also a former WoW player of 7 years, I played a Resto/Feral Druid primarily named Jaskra, and finally decided to move on to a newer game. Surprisingly, we have many members in our guild that are former WoW players as well. I spent a long time with great people in WoW, but it was time to move on. I have loved my time here in GW2 since the beginning of December.

I began EVIL in the hopes of creating a friendly family-like casual guild that had people that just wanted to play and help one another. Overall we just wanted to enjoy the game with others. I wanted to create a guild like I had had before in WoW. So far I think we’re succeeding and we plan on continuing to do so. We are really focusing on bringing in players such as yourself who are after a fun an helpful environment.

We’re looking for active new members!

About Us

We’re a large adult PvE/PvX guild that provides you a casual gaming community. The primary objective of the guild is to play and chat with our fellow guildies by exploring the maps, questing, defeating dungeons, completing challenging jumping puzzles, and participating in WvW.

Upgrades/Boots

Current upgrades can be found on the front page of the guild website. We try to maintain guild boosts for our guild mates while we develop the guild mission upgrades. These boosts include: +5% EXP, +10% Magic Find, +15% Karma, +10 Gathering Bonus. We’re also looking forward to participating in the new Guild Mission system! We are currently building Art of War V so we can start Guild Missions and it will finished within the week!

Through grouping and playing together we have and will continue to accrue influence to maintain boosts and future guild mission upgrades that benefit all members and help create an active environment. EVIL is trying to take over the world, one innocent bystander at a time. We would look forward to playing with you in the game!

TeamSpeak 3

EVIL has it’s own TeamSpeak 3 server available! =) TeamSpeak is highly beneficial for organized guild events (like the mission system) and for dungeons. In such a fast paced gameplay environment swift communication is crucial! There is no better way to communicate than via a VOIP (voice chat system) like TeamsSpeak. As such we highly encourage its use for dungeon runs and map completion groups! We would love for you to join us there and chat! If you would like to talk to a GM before deciding to join we can give you a temporary password to chat with us. =)

Representation

EVIL requires 100% representation. We have tried to be lax in our requirement of it previously and it has only ended up being detrimental to the social aspect of the guild. The only exception is if you are sharing a small guild between friends for the purposes of using a personal guild bank. It is preferable that you already have one built rather than being in the process of building one.

What exactly is the required amount of players to start a guild mission? Can anyone give me an answer for this? I may just adjust the type of guild that I’m looking for.

To give you an idea, we just queued up Architecture VI for 30,000 influence and it will be building over the next week and 3 days. Unless a guild is large & active enough to accrue the mass amount of influence (I only listed one of several guild missions that cost exorbitant amounts.) they will never see guild missions.

I will say that finding a small or medium sized guild that has guild missions available will be darn near impossible. =( The way guild missions are designed only very large guilds with a surplus of influence will be able to do missions at present, unless they make a very drastic change to his unfair system. That said my own guild is a large guild on Blackgate, you would be welcome to guest/transfer and join us if you find us worthy. I will say that we are currently building Architecture VI (new as of the patch) to open Guild Puzzles.
