Oh I forgot about roots, think that’s the nail in the coffin for overworld pvp usage imo. Incidentally I love this skill underwater, especially with the about face keybind.

RFI has a clunky animation, is only 1 stun break and doesn’t clear conditions. If something is behind you or enemy players are behind you…its over unless you’re mad quick with about face keybind. If OP’s trouble is always seeing the red out of range while he’s getting smoked i suggest porting off to the side because assuming equal mouse distance from your character there are less in game distance units to the sides than above(moving forward).

I bound my shadowstep to my middle mouse button and fast cast ground targeting is a must imo, once i got used to stun breaking with that button I use it on all my characters for stun break as I will reflexively hit it when CC’d and taking dmg.
Edit; if you don’t already you need to be keeping track of where your mouse is at all times even when using it to change camera angle etc.

Tactical Strike - Possible to extend daze?

IIRC before the nerf the sigils etc. were used to extend the duration of daze from 2 seconds to 3. To extend 1.5 seconds to 2.5 seconds would require +66% duration, you need to be a full second or you get nothing.

Guild Wars 2 tends to round down for things, if you don’t have condition duration enough to add a full second you get nothing, if you don’t have enough precision to add 1% crit chance its dead stats. I would guess it prolly does a whole lot of nothing.

Simple:
-Replace “Unload” with “Double Tap”, firing 2 quick successive shots- the first shot applying 5s Weakness and the second applying a 1/2s Daze. Deals Unloads’ cumulative damage split between both rounds. 1s “cast”. 5 initiative.
-Black Powder causes AoE blind in a 240 radius, but Stealths the Thief and allies in the radius instead of creating a smoke field. (Giving P/P initiative-based Stealthing, also giving more Stealth utility to off-hand Pistol builds.) 1s “cast” 6 initiative.

IMHO, with those two changes, P/P would be lightyears ahead of it’s current state and would drastically improve the viability of other off-hand pistol builds to boot, giving the Thief more options with such a limited selection of weapon sets.

As a sword/pistol user changing the black powder to stealth would force a drastic playstyle change that i’m not sure is necessary for a working weaponset, plus then i’m sure the daze chain issue would pop up again, i’m all for a change to PP but leave offhand pistol alone.

Necro stability needs a buff imo but every class has access to more or less a ‘safe stomp’, in the case of my thief I usually don’t waste a stealth ability for finishers since I don’t use daggers and use blinds instead, since a blinded opponent WILL miss and anyone can guess where a stealthed thief will be with a little experience. In the case of ele’s mistform in the downed state its possible but difficult to teleport stomp them. Cancel and recast your stomp immediately when you think they will pop mistform and port to them as soon as they drop. This takes practice but once you get it down you can put those pesky DD ele’s that think they are invincible in their place

Its as simple as moving out of the range of the attack, if you’re standing in his attack range attacking air and expecting results you need to revise your strategy

This is all well and good but the people who are inclined to read up on spvp already know this sort of thing and are most likely frustrated with the people who are not so inclined. The others most likely have only wvw experiance pvping in gw2 and simply do the same thing that works there, and since the point system reinforces it they see no reason to change tactics or read their chatbar or do anything except wait around to q about x glass cannon build bursting them down.
On a more constructive note, I like the core idea posited by the OP, but the randoms won’t ever learn a code like that and it simply takes too much away mid battle to type something even as short as ‘2 inc mine’. What could be cool is typing ‘1f’ and it displaying ‘henge is fine’, but as I understand it there are no macros or custom UI’s in GW2 so I’m not sure how we’d get that to work.

As far as I can tell the only mechanic for the ranks other than new cosmetic gear is the ‘play now’ button in hotjoin and I’m not even sure how well that works. So….why not just use those qualifying points you only get from paid tourny to measure your kitten?

As a fairly new player to spvp, I would love to see an in-between option for free tourny and paid tourny. Its incredibly obvious who is farming tickets and who is actually playing the free tourny because it is an (supposed to be?) appropriate level of competition after the messy quick join option.

So, for what its worth, I second OP’s suggestion.
