Devs said they will give us 20~30% damage increase
Thief already deal high enough damage
like i said some traits are useless and dont deserve to be a master trait ex. sundering strike or grand master triat ex Hidden Killer
and when Dev realize giving damage buff to thief is a bad idea instead of putting more work effort how to balance the trait line and buff us by balancing trait line
After 2nd season end they will say sorry to over buff Thief and back to beginning (15% damage nerf right away after season 2 end)
Mostly low skill mesmer using zerker build will complain ALOT
6 k backstabs and 1-2 auto is lower than the damage we already have – just saying (lower than what other classes dish out as well). But yes, more nerfs coming in – I agree on that. but hey, thief traditionally doesn’t go past a nerf in whatever patch and there’s nothing left to nerf, so they had to buff things to carry on the tradition.
4-6k backstab on bunker build and 8-9k backstabs on zerker build
1-2 auto on bunker and maybe 3-4 on zerker build class
base from PvP
in WvW you can reach 12k-15k

more damage means more nerf incoming that is why damage boost patch is the worse option
when people realize bunker is no more and +1 unblockable stun thief roaming around back stab for 6 k follow by 1-2 k on auto attack that is very fast attack will get thief nerf
DEV PLEASE GIVING THIEF DAMAGE BOOST IS NOT GOING TO SOLVE PROBLEMS IN PVE AND PVP YOU ARE GOING TO NERF IT EVERY SINGLE PATCH RELEASE

How about get rid of > Hidden Killer, Sundering Strike, Flawless Strike
and buff something like Hidden Killer > strike enemy from stealth thief now gain 25% for 3 sec attack speed or move Invigorating Precision down to Master trait and reduce it to 10% heal
or moving Sundering Strike down to minor adept trait line and reduce to 33%
FLAWLESS STRIKE > on critical strike 90% health sustain to get bonus ARE YOU kittenING KIDDING ME ! WHO DESIGNED THIS TRAIT
or giving venomous aura combine with leeching venom put it in deadly art
we dont have access to burning
our poison, bleed, torment and confusion must be strong and viable in every game mode
WE ALREADY HAVE VERY GOOD DAMAGE ALREADY
WE NEED IS USEFUL TRAITS

Well if you really know how to play mesmer
well if you play right mesmer can 1 shot burst marauder thief SPvP
On the other hand Thief cant 1 shot mesmer in SPvP
If you says unblock basilisk is OP then look at necro aa3 scepter corrupts 1 boon
and now can corrupt 3 boons under 15 sec its worse than basilisk that stunned 2 sec under 40 if trait 32 sec
Thief has been underpowerd for long time its time for Thief to be viable again
and you guys already cry even patch doesnt even hit yet
Combo Guide:
Steal + Pistol Whip (at the same time)
=Damage from steal + Damage from Pistol Whip + Impact disruption on Interruption
Impacting Strike > Uppercut + Fist of Flurry > Palm Strike > Pistol Whip
Bandit Defense > Fist of Flurry > Palm Strike > Impact Strike > Uppercut > Finish move or Pistol Whip
Just be creative how to use it just beware of stability
This is the build I’ve been using in a while now when they since HOT released.
I only use this build in SPvP and it feels effective for me both ranked and unranked.

Your main damage come from Pistol Whip + Impacting disruption
Or > impact strike > uppercut > do not use 3rd combo instead use fist of flurry > palm strike for full burst combo > pistol whip its almost shut people down if you land it perfectly and its low cds

It is very effective vs reapers and elemental since both classes have high cast time (include tempest very easy to CC)
You can be +1 and hard CC people
Yes, people can stunbreak and stability (pick up your p/p and unload them) except for you fighting a class that have lots of reflect then I suggest you retreat.
I know thia build might not work for everyone but for me I love to see reapers scream cause they get stunned, interrupted on almost every single move except for reapers form#3
I can stack 4 more sec for swiftness and go mining like a baws

I can list the flaw of thief design for day
Self Revealed is okay for me than what i have listed
I will wait until the end of this month if Thief dont get fix and be viable in every game mode

I really like Revenant but I can’t decide which build is good in Raid
Mace/Axe On Glint Legend For Might stack, fury and boon duration support while apply burning to enemies
Sword/Shield On Demon Legend just for Demon stance and auto attack (with 10% can increase up to 300 power and 200 condition and free torment stacks
and other build is the same but without Shiro (Only If the raid boss can group CC players I will swap for Shiro) and it is a zerker build
with this build you can increase power up to 350 and 10% more critical damage and free torment stacks (Demon Stance)
I really like the first build but its cost and don’t really know is it effective or not in raid
I dont really know 10% Demon Stance does count in might stacks

Mallyx is strong because PvP is small scale battle field
If you fight open battlefield Mallyx build going to get kitted pretty bad
If you switch to shiro you lose condi power and vulnerable to all kind of cancers
If you missed on jade wind and #2 mace combo then you pretty much doom anyway
So its not god
If anet figure out taunt 4 sec + protection in 45 sec cd and 2 stability on dodge
And sure they will somehow nerf it and your god will be forever gone

As a Thieves we are a jack of no trade
We don’t do much damage
We can’t survive the burst cause of low health
Necro can do much condition than Thief does
Stealth mechanic should be only for us but now Dragon hunter has it
Mesmer can rip lots of boons by 3rd aa sword while we can do in every 20 sec
We should br fury master on Crits triat line but Rev got 40% crits chance and can be stack up to 40 sec in few second and free access to haste buff in every 10 sec for 6-7 sec
We have thieves guild but ranger pet can tuant in 15 sec while thieves guild cd 180 sec
We suck at supporting group
We have no real range weapons
Obviously we can’t tank we can do is spam evades
We dont have access to invulnerability, protection but other medium armor has it
On the bright side ! We have 3 dodge bar lol
I use mix zerker, valk and maruader

S/P Marauder Fire/Lightning burst sigil

Have 0% problems against PvE
If you use full zerk I can garuntee you will downed most of the time
Which lead to Dps loss especially D/D build since you cant do the perfect dodge anyway

- Signet > Should Increase might to 10 sec or 8
- What ! 90% health to maintain when Mai Trin one hit you lose like 30% of your health already you need to regain health again just to keep up the damage same as keen observer
Unrelenting is okay
Sundering > 1% damages on 50% critical strike necro can apply 25 in 5 sec gosh useless unless you use staff and spam #2 on mob but you won’t get 25 and that will get you killed
Practices Tolerance > its like 8 -13% crits damage : (
Ankle Shot > If its bounce like before it worth using but now no ! short bow all the way
No Quarter > oh this is good one but no ! i have enough damage already
Hidden Killer > Pvp trait and Pvper wont pick this trait line
Invigorating Precision > a must have and worth taking in pve

And please dont jump dodge on the blinding powder it wont give you stealth
First you build will get you killed
You don’t have Condition Cleanse
You don’t have sustainable in a long fight
Why you pick trickery when you dont have trick utilities on the bar
In critical strike trait line you should pick #3 on Grand master trait for sustain
Take away Power signet its useless take signet of agility for condi cleanse
You dont need flanking strike combine with trickster 48 on quickness and 1 condi cleanse you are not playing pvp go for Thrill of crimes its better remember you have 12 initiative not 30 take daze on steal its give you free 50 endurance in 20 sec cooldown and its give 3 initiative
Take bouding dodge combine with blind powder to gain acess to stealth minimize the threat in a group fight
DD gm its up to you btw take spinning dagger on elite its reflect projectile
Hope anet rework this out
Critical Strike > mostly people pick this because of Healing on Crits Damages on Grand Master trait
Acrobatic > What ? does it really exist ?
These two major traits are really underpower if compare with deadly art, trickery, dare devil and shadow art
Thief is not underpower but these two traits need rework
Im not talking about NERF or BUFF just REWORK to be more viable in all game type that include incoming raid
Thief is fine atm just need a little tweak on Health Stat
Cause 1 burst of elite mob can cause instant death for thief
yes, thief can tank elite mob if you build it right
and Spvp you will be focus mostly on capture the point and decap the point
WvW you are a beast in stealth mode and kite master if play right
play it if you like thief just dont brainless dodge you will be fine
BTW #4 shortbow does stack if enemy stand in it
Yesterday I’ve been trying to make codi thief viable and comeout with this troll build
I’ve been testing it in Unranked match
Hope you like it it might not as good as Regular D/P build but it work for me at least
your main damage is from poison
Key > #4 shortbow & steal
Try to #3 pistol whip for interrupt to gain impact strkie and torment on intereupt
Try to dodge in poison field for effective damage (Whirl) poison bolt
On Shortbow #2 detonate it for more effective
Use shadow step and signet for condis cleanse
Use bandit for stun breaking and longe range defense
Elite is your choice
Now you Have condis 8 time dodges if you like to sacrifice everything
Happy #4 Shortbow build
Bring back Adaptive armor !
As a hammer tanky engie spec, 300 toughness and take 5 time to stack up and 300 toughness doesnt worth taking damages to gain 300
Scrapper is a front line initiator & support class
We are also an off-tank which mean we can tank damges but not long enough
Nerf AA hurt us you might say just only an X% that not much
But X% what make you survive and heal back again
lol what squishy build why pick hammer
When you can nuke at range by using rifle and nades lol why even pick scrapper
Toolband gear shield is way better
We need to be tanky to be able to hammer an enemies efficiently.
And now you take away GM tanking trait becus some stupid whinner dont want to l2p whinning engie is hard to kill in melee
People with half of they brain will be able to kite an engies
Adaptive is high risk Gm make it worth something or it will end up there and no one use it
Scrapper ideal is to be tanky

Kits : Nades and Bomb
Utility : Elixir B (The one that Provide lots of Buff)
Healing : Elixir or Gyro(Rocket Charge + F1 Leap heal around 2.7 – 3.5k)
Gear : Celestial Full
Elite : Elixir X or Mortar… Depend on Situation
Trait : Explosive > Nades > Bomb >Mortar if you are using mortar if not go with bleed on explosive
Alchemy : Protection when stunned > Elixir S Auto (retreat if needed you are an off-tank regen on using kits is useless you will be swapping kits a lot) > Empower Elixir for free might stacks
Scrapper > Lightning Shock on Lightning Field(Hammer #5 + Big’O Bomb or Rocket Charge Free Super Speed every 10 sec) >Rapid Regen (this combine with the first trait + Swiftness for Elixir B ) Adaptive Armor 500 Toghness + Condition Damage Reduce for more tanky or you can take Perfectly Weighted for stab and damage
if you go zerker you will drop in 10 sec after initiate the fight

Underwhelming ? No ! Daredevil is awesome both in PvP and PvE
with Trickster + Daredevil Trait you have up time Swiftness and Fury
You have great condition removal and 3 dodge bar help you survive
with Critical Strike Trait line you have healing on Crits
Thief only need reliable range weapon
SB > Deal very little damage compare to other classes but great aoe and mobility
PP > Deal High Damge to Single enemy
Thief is on the line now in PvP doesnt need a buff or nerf
Thief in PvE > MOBS are stupid you can dodge to mitigate the damages and kite them with shortbow also S/P #3 make you evade like a boss while dealing high front cone aoe dmg
Daredevil make thief work like charm agian
Its boring D/P combo shadow shot> back stab steal>basilisk>back stab+ improvisation just doing this all day and realize that sr what keep thief stong not the weapon itself

S main hand = hilt bash
P main hand = the rapid fire with bleed (dun know the name)
SB = immobilized shot
Staff = 2 sec knock down
Why dont just give us entire new set of skill while stealth to play
So we cant stack stealth no more but more thing to play or maybe survive in combat
So we dont complain about reveal no more
Imagine while we stealth we get more 5 new set dat we can choose to burst or cc or retreat isnt it great ?
Like D/D stealth #4 instant reveal us but also enemy receive blind for 2 stack 5 sec aoe 300 range

When HOT release will “Toughness get buff?” since raid bosses will hit so hard imo(last week I got lots of work so I missed the beta test.
Cause i feel toughness is useless for a long long time
I’m running D/P S/D build
Deadly Art 2 2 2
Trickster 3 1 2
Shadow Art 3 2 2
Mostly i use D/P for shadow shot back stab
And S/D for evade if im running out of endu
Unfortunately im running into scrapper with kitteng reveal and this is too much
I’ve lost my burst and survivability

Depends on what build that necro use if it signet you are going to win most of the time
Takes thrill of the crime and improvisation with you for free might take out shortbow and go for D/P S/D if you health drop fast reset the fight why?
Improvisation you will get double fear and poison decap abil reset at least 20% of the time will reset
Key to win CC stealth evade and teleport backstab
On minions necro you are going to be hard figt just watch out the condi bomb from minions dat bomb hit hard
Btw use headshot to interupt the heal
Necro is easy
Guardian is really hard

Is it me or its the nerf sometimes i can’t stack stealth like i used to
I can usually stack 3 d/p combo leap with 5-7 sec
Now I just cant do that long anymore its like 3-5 sec maximum

Here is my question
Nades with velocity seems good but mostly I use nade for ground bombing at the point(PVP) or net shot + freeze nades for more control. But velocity seem to be little buggy sometimes nades fly off a little in 500+ instead of 3 full hit. I doubt is it really necessary to go for explosive while firearm is better than explosive.
Nades without velocity seems to be a little slower than before the patch
Is nades worth use it atm
I feel sad that the profession that i feel happy when playing got lots of bugs

First the weapons
P/P OMG ! No life saving ability 900 range aa is worse and unload is terrible ! SB aa can do more dmg than unload
SB good over all
D/D dual skill terrible CnD is also not okay
1/4 dodge ! Really 4 initiative omg ! Dmg is terrible
CnD against good player NO WAY you can land it perfect
Other weapons is okay
Now the trait !
Deadly Arts not so deadly reveal training WTF!! 200 power for 3-4 sec give us something better than this reveal is a deadly debuff for us make it rewardable
Poison should move to this trait like before Trap is okay but should be circle aoe not in a a line aoe
Critical Strike this trait need serious re work
First the name > Assassination suit better than critical
Make this trait have more element of surprise like ex 70% more dmg while attack from stealth 10 sec cooldown
Shadow Art is beast but move poison trait to deadly and come up with something !
Acrobatic New Acrobatic is f** terrible old Acrobatic is awesome !
Trickery is good make caltrops as a trap its a f** trap

Scepter #3 should give 3 stacks for 7 sec of torment and gain life force
OH dagger swarm should increase projectile speed and OH #5 should also give poison stacks at least 2
Btw necro should be able to turn their conditions to a big chunk of damage to give an alternative damage instead of let it tick and w8 to be cleanse by other players
Last thing why the … Necro need to corrupt himself just to apply more condition on enemy lol
First off all, I use English Language as an secondary language. My grammar could be really terrible but I’ll try make it simple.
I’m main Engineer, I only play thief sometimes. Thief are really underpowered at some point in pvp. Thief could be really bursty glassy at the same time if they lose all initiative and escaping tools they are dead. Imop, thief uses dirty tricks, poison and anything to weakened the opponent before initiation begin. But thief has no real condition damage to weakened the enemy.
Back Stab should at least have 3 stacks of torment.
Throwing Dagger should has 1 bleeding.
Imop, dagger/dagger should focus more on bleeding and torment
While dagger/pistol focus on more CC and torment.
Trap utilities are terrible because of vertical line aoe it should be aoe in circle
Initiative arrow ! This is a joke. It uses 6 of initiatives but only inflict blinding !
give this skill of 2 confusion with 150 damage now its worth 6 initiatives
Pistol/dagger okay i get the concept. Pew pew ss away and pew pew more. No ! This is terrible. Change this mechanic it should be first shot 2 torments while ss to enemy face and 1/2 half sec cast fire another bullet or stab then ss away.
What do you guys think about this ?
