I just finished my placement matches and it’s official… I suck at this game! =D And I’ve also stopped caring about wins/losses. I can’t control what teammates/opponents I get, or what they do, so no use getting upset about it. As long as I try my best and the score is better than 3:5 then I think it was a good match.

So here’s my game history, only 3 “unacceptable” matches (where the score is worse than 3:5) I’ve marked them in the screen. Also the 295 score match had a leaver, which is always stupid, but whatever.

Enable a search bar/function for browsing traits. Every kitten time I attempt to switch to the trait that ‘reduces fall damage’, it takes like 5 minutes before I find it or I give up and jump off a cliff to my death before respawning and simply walking around an easier way. For reference this is in WvW, I mainly do WvW, so that’s where I enjoy spending my time, so not being able to glide, there are some jumps that are landable ONLY if you use the profession-specific trait to reduce the fall damage.

Relevant wiki page: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Damage#Falling_damage

I kind of don’t understand why this trait is locked into a particular spec either. Gliding makes the trait completely useless in pve. It can’t be used in pvp because of balance issues. It would be useless in fractals/dungeons. So WvW is the ONLY mode where this trait might be relatively still useless, because boohoo anet didn’t want to stir up the ‘competitive’ nature of wvw by adding gliding.

It would even be simpler just to have an On/Off box to enable to trait. I would gladly temporarily give up one of my other traits just to enable the reduced fall damage trait for the one jump I would need to make once every blue moon.

In short either: 1. Enable gliding in wvw
OR
2. Make it easier to find and enable ‘reduce fall damage’ trait.

Please and thankyou, sincerely,
the adventurous one who keeps jumping off cliffs in wvw

Suggestion: Guild WvW hours > XP bonus

No it’s not the same. The Guild boosts act like consumables, like a guild banner actually. And guild missions are specific. Adding a blanket bonus for set periods of time could enhance participation, separate from guild missions. But sure guilds might choose to knock out missions during that time.

Suggestion: Guild WvW hours > XP bonus

in WvW

Jitson.6051

Make it so that guilds can set “WvW hours” maybe twice a week for 3hour stretches of time. And during those hours, guild members who are representing and participating in WvW get bonus WXP and reward track XP.

This would give added incentive and tangible reason for people to WvW together. It would also encourage guilds to recruit members more efficiently and the completion of WvW guild missions.

Two of the issues I’ve seen come up, and seen as reasons why BG is so successful are “organization” and “coverage”. Coverage really meaning consistent participation in WvW. So with this feature, I think it would put more power in the hands of guilds to organize player participation. Instead of having rough weekly “rally times”, guilds will be able to set objective hours each week, with real in-game rewards.

Currently the guild I am in has roughly 3 “rallies” each week, all in the evening. But I am also a roamer/scout type player, who enjoys taking smaller objectives, scouting and gathering nodes. So I feel lax when it comes to participating in rallies. Also I am not in any other wvw guilds. But with this feature, I can see myself reasonably joining multiple wvw guilds, each with different “WvW hours”, to receive more bonus XP! Also in the hopes of playing with others more consistently.

I don’t know how many hours a guild would be able to set, or how much bonus xp would be reasonable or other system mechanics (like how often can a guild change wvw hours), but I think this is a great concept. Any thoughts appreciated.

Looking for a friendly, active guild that focuses on doing dungeons and fractals.
I’m a casual player. I play around EST 8pm and onward. Nowadays I usually do 1pvp game, a bit of wvw and some daily fractals. But I really want to get back to doing dungeons (along w/ fractals), since I enjoy the variety. And it would be even nicer if I had nice people to do them with.

I’m not that comfortable speaking on voicechat, but I’ll come on and listen in if the conversation is friendly and/or if we’re doing stuff together.
Not interested in raids at all. Not interested in organized wvw/pvp.

I guess I would be comfortable with a medium sized guild. Maybe 15+ active members? I’m not sure.. But if I can type into guild chat something like.. “any1 want to do SE p1,3” (or some other dungeons) on a random evening and get some sort of response, I would be super happy.

I’m a genius. Make it so that you get rank points for kills, objective captures/defends in a match etc. E.g. when you get a kill in a match currently you see the +10 +5 when you kill the player. Why not turn those +10/5 into rank points? And better yet why not double or QUADRUPLE those points, so that you’re getting 40 rank points per kill? You mentioned players have nothing to fight for, there they have something to fight for instead of afk or quitting. Increase the things that already give rank points across the reward then BAM, you get 3 or more reward track items just for readyup and losing a full match in 10minutes.

In GW1 you got faction for kills in pvp, so why not in GW2? Points on the scoreboard literally don’t mean kittens in GW2 like Madman mentioned. You can win a game and still be bottom scorer and still get same rewards as top player. So why not actually turn them into rank points, so they actually mean something!

PvP isn’t beyond fixing, it’s still a joke, but there are obvious ways ANET could improve it.

Jitson.6051

That still doesn’t make sense to leave the game. Even if you think you’re going to lose, why don’t you just stay until the end of the round to get the free reward? This is a problem in BOTH Ranked and Unranked Mode, it makes NO sense to me why people quit. You would actually be helping your team lose faster if you just gave up and ran into the enemy, if you REALLY want to give up, atleast then people won’t know you’re a punk kitten quitter.

The pip/league system is kittened, the matchmaking system is kittened. But you can actually do something about people who come into PvP and cannot handle a single loss, by increasing the timeout so they can’t come back so easily, it’s ridiculous. I’ve had roughly 4 games in a row ranked/unranked where there was a quitter on either team, and it was no fun either way. I’ll say it again GW2 PvP is a joke.

But if you try to PvP and you can’t handle losses, even when you get an A for effort, then you should be banned from PvP for AT LEAST 12hours, simple.

For the love of kittens, please increase the penalty for ragequitters from 16minutes to 12hours. I’m okay with a kittened matchmaking system, but atleast don’t let quitters get off so easy. I personally DO NOT understand ragequitters in this game because even when you lose you still kitten get something! What a concept! Not like in the GW1 days when you lost, you got nothing.

Like if you’re going to give up, then feed the other team kills to make it atleast seem like you’re not a little fragile scared kitten, and make it seem like you’re still in the game even if you’re losing 2:1 in points. Because at the end of the round YOU STILL KITTEN GET SOMETHING! Jeez it’s not that kitten hard man. For the love of kittens if you can’t even stay in a 10minute match I don’t know what to say to you, just please don’t ruin the match for your team like a little kitten.

ANET, PVP is a joke. “Ranked/League Mode” is a joke. Revenge of the Capricorn Mode is a joke. Quitters are a big fat joke, when you kittens gonna do something about it?

Finally someone links something actually useful instead of blaming “you can’t read. you don’t know what insights is? You must have done no research. You have an attitude, go back to your ez mode dungeons” etc. I guess I’ll wait until thursday or something and look for training groups.

For those who already suggested joining learning runs and I promptly ignored, I was under the impression that learning runs were the dungeon equivalent of level 55s doing AC, CM or TA, which is no fun.

The thread linked actually gives a clear argument that learning groups are often run by experienced players and often have experienced players, who have already done their 1week run for the ‘max rewards’ (iduno even know how the rewards cap each week, but I guess I’ll find out). So I shouldn’t worry about getting nowhere in such groups. I still think keeping insights is a silly requirement, but I guess is understandable for groups who want to get their clear out of the way quickly.

For those saying I was running dps, and they probably wanted a healer.
This is the build I run for dungeons.
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Druid_-_Power_Glyph_Buffer

This is the build on metabattle suggested for raids.
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Druid_-_Offensive_Healer

I see no significant differences. You can play the “Raids are on a whole diff. level than Dungeons” card, I understand, if there’s such a high entry point for Raids, I would rather not learn them anyways. The group ad was not asking for exp, they asked for Druid, 2DPS, 50+insight. I guess it wasn’t clear whether I was sarcastic or not in my OP, but I genuinely did NOT know what was meant by insights, and only assumed it meant mastery insights, and was legit surprised there was such an arbitrary requirement for keeping Legendary Insights, which I care 0% about.

My earlier post was infracted because apparently I was being rude to people who do raids in general. In case my post doesn’t get appealed, basically I’ve learned from this thread that I will NOT be learning raids, and I’ll stick to casual dungeons and fractals. I want to thank Satenia and Assic for their more thoughtful replies and feedback on ascended gear.

This kind of reminded me of the old days of GW1 HA, where people required r6+, 9+, 10+ etc groups. Waiting 30+mins for pugs only to never get past underworld. OR not being able to spare 3hours a night to pvp with my guild, so they always had other players lined up, or my schedule never matched. I thought those days were over, but I guess not, it still persists in pug raids, and I want no part of it. Thanks and bye.

I made a snappy comment in infracted post basically saying “soo long kittens! I’m gonna check whether warr is still on top in pvp, if power shatter is still viable, and if anyone has made a Herald-Ventari healing build yet”. So to follow up, power shatter is back babies! Warr is still great and I’ll look into a healing Herald later today I guess.

Lol I just got kicked from a raid group because I haven’t done it before. Some background: I recently started getting into doing dungeons, CoE has become my favorite. Yeah I know, late to the party, but they’re fun, and with the new Dungeon Frequenter achievement, I think the rewards are balanced and reasonable, and encourages variety, which I love =). However there are few people doing dungeons anymore because supposedly people are doing Fractals, Raids, or the easy-broken Octovine meta.

Fractals are pretty fun, but I find the scale level system obtuse, and I have too many characters, and not enough time to farmgold/craft, to care about about getting enough Ascended gear and Agony Resis to do the higher tier fractals where the rewards are actually worth it.

But then I learned that with Raids, you can save up the raid currency to buy Ascended armor, which I’m starting to care about, after I realized that you can change the stats relatively cheaply. I was like awwright! I can slowly get the ascended gear I want, without all the ridiculous crafting/farming.

So LFG, I try to join a group looking for Druid. Ranger is my first char, I’m pretty proficient in dungeons. First thing the comm asks for is insights
Me, “You mean my mastery points? How do I ping that?”
The comm pings “143 Legendary Insights”.

I reply, “sorry I don’t have those, and I wouldn’t keep them anyways since I don’t care about legendaries, am I gonna get kicked? lol”
The comm “Yeah, well you should keep them anyways, lots of raids ask for them. And sorry we’re an exp group, not looking to carry anyone”

I’m literally lmfao right now. I understand asking for 80s in dungeons, because it simply makes things faster, you’ve unlocked all your skills, probably have full exotic and a decent build. But holding on to a currency that I don’t care about, just so I can get into a pug? Go kitten yourself. Good luck waiting for another Druid.

Well honestly, as long as it is a consumable and it is only in the testing phase, I don’t think it will make siege wars any longer or worse than they already are. That’s because, think of it this way: How many people actually carry around Siege Disablers or similar consumables? I personally do not, either I roam/scout or I’m with a zerg, in the latter case I rely on comm/lieutenants for siege/consumables.

WvW Poll 27 June: Simultaneous Borderlands

Jitson.6051

Have they said anything about which color will get the DBL? Or will that rotate/be random? If the color getting DBL is going to rotate, then I would like to know how often they plan on rotating it…

Judging by the rotation option they are suggesting rotating each QUARTER. Which is a ridiculously long time. It should rotate every 2-4 weeks or something, I think this is partly why much more people are voting for simultaneous BLs in this poll. Because the alternative option is having to play/wait a whole 3 months (of alpine or desert) before getting a chance to play the other BL, which is ridiculous.

I enjoy variety, but I also enjoy balance. Coming from a server that almost consistently plays Red, I can’t imagine having my home BL consistently being DBL.

my charr ele, D Argot Briar. She prefers to be called “Argot” (pronounced “argo”, silent T) after her mother. Her past, including her name, is a unique story. Argot, an only child, actually lost her Charr parents at a young age (first her father, then her mother). As written in her mother’s will, Argot was adopted into a welcoming and progressive Norn family her mother knew. So Argot grew up in the Shiverpeaks in a friendly household warmed by her family’s loving embraces and the fire of the hearth.

She decided on studying Elementalism after reconciling the dual nature of fire magic, which has since become her favored element to work with. On the one hand fire can be a tool of destruction, like how it was wielded by the Flame Legion hundreds of years ago to destroy Ascalon, or in the Charr wars she vaguely witnessed as an infant. On the other hand it can be a symbol of warmth, a beacon of hope or the center of a hearty barbecue feast!

Argot is forever grateful to her Norn family, who gave her the inspiration and opportunity to become an outstanding Elementalist. Argot now wields the elements with a decisive rationality and has grown into a respected leader and teacher, representing both the Norn and Charr in the fight against the Elder Dragons. Briar is the name of her Norn family. =)

my norn ranger, Susie! also my first toon. Susie is trying to find a new cool armor/dye combo to wear, but hasn’t found anything she really likes. Not really in a hurry though, so this is what she is currently wearing and most comfortable with =3

Susie, although Norn, was actually born in Elona, but grew up in Kryta (around Lion’s Arch) for reasons she is “too tired” to tell. Nevertheless, growing up in Kryta led her to have a more tanned complexion than most of her Norn peers. Growing up she loved exploring the forests and lands around Kryta, thus fostering a love of nature and partly influenced her to become a ranger. As an adult she made an effort to travel across Tyria to enhance her studies and abilities as a ranger. This of course included visiting the Shiverpeaks, where she learned about her ancestors and Norn culture.

Susie has a peaceful nature, but will never shy away from fighting for her friends and what she believes in, with her trusty animal companions and longbow at her side! Susie says she feels most “at home” in Kryta, where she enjoys relaxing in the sun’s warmth. When asked if she visits Elona, she says “No, the sun is much too hot there,” but again says nothing about her early childhood there, which she remembers little of.

LOL this thread reminds me of…

Haha! That sounds totally like FA to me! <3 xD

add resource nodes across BLs?

in WvW

Posted by: Jitson.6051

Jitson.6051

Hello! I am a Fort Aspenwood PvX player!

Note: I am also in the “DBL and ABL should be rotated in and out” camp. I’m a roamer type of player. I enjoyed how DBL had both shrines, lands and camps to capture relatively easily, and still feel like I’m ‘contributing’ to my world. It also gives more incentive to scout.

What would give even more incentive to scout? Resource nodes! I love resource nodes in Edge <3, so why not add them to the Borderlands? It would break up some of the tedium of running from A to B. Since the middle of DBL the ’Oasis" is basically a dead space iirc, and some of the navigation from point to point is rather obtuse, having vast stretches of land of just running.

I used to be a bigger fan of WvW and EoM, got excited when I got my comm tag a few months ago, did some casually commanding in EoM. Then started roaming around the Borderlands and getting into wvw proper.

But lately I’ve spent almost NO time in WvW because I finally understand how to play all my classes properly in PvE and it is way more consistent and arguably better in terms of rewards and what to expect.

Resource nodes across the map might get me back into the Borderlands I think. In EoM I have that Rich Copper Node under Wurm memorized, simply because I’ve been there so many times, and its FREE. And then when going from A to B, returning to zerg, or scouting, I’m always on the lookout for wood and ore (although I could do without the silver/gold ore =P).

Sure there are those tacky random synthesizers, but you have to own the objective to use it (with the exception of camps)… Also there is something great about having free mats lying around the map, waiting to be discovered and picked up which makes roaming more fun, and incentivizes me to stick around the map more. Like in EoM, if there was no comm atm, and I couldn’t commit to commanding, I could just roam/scout and pick up resources here and there.

I guess that’s partly why I now almost exclusively play Pve (I pvp too for the easy daily), especially the HoT maps. Everything is on a schedule, rewards are consistent, material locations are consistent! I have almost no reason anymore to stick around on EBG or BL.

“Oh I could take this camp/land… oh wait enemies wipe” “can’t take a tower with one person, i guess i’ll just go to the next camp… oh wait more enemies wipes

But at the same time, I’m skeptical of my own suggestion of adding resource nodes. This is because they did already increase the rewards for WvW, by adding the reward track, revising ppt, making the beta wxp increase permanent. So I really don’t know. Just thought I would throw this suggestion out there.

Until then, I shall roam Tangled Depths with my thief spamming Staff 2+1 and unlocking FREE chests!! (I just discovered the usefulness of Weakness… o3o pssst it’s basically perma-protection! 8D) whispers ressouurrrce nodes o.O Think about it!

OMG If you only knew this - tips for new players

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Jitson.6051

Jitson.6051

1.) For all armor/weapons that is NOT Exotic/Rare (so Basic, Fine, Masterwork gear) you receive and cannot use or do not plan to use for another character, SALVAGE them. This is a key way of managing inventory space, and minimizing time selling stuff to the Trading Post (Since you will have salvaged them into cloth, leather and wood! Of which it is up to you whether you would like to save for crafting or sell for money)

The Salvage kit doesn’t really matter, except in the case of Exotics/Rares:

It is up to you whether you want to salvage Exotics/Rares for Ectos (and globs of DarkMatter from Exotics), but personally I like to sell my Rares and salvage my Exotics (that I don’t need) with the highest grade salvage kit (Black Lion SK).

2.) In higher level areas it will become more important to “kite” enemies (making enemies come to you, as you run circles around them) while fighting, especially larger groups of enemies, as opposed to just standing there using your skills.

Get used to moving around, using your abilities and being aware of your defensive options, if you find yourself being overwhelmed by enemies. Running away/past enemies IS a valid option, even if the inconveniences of dying in GW2 are minimal, haha.

As such it can be easier to survive in higher level areas, or unfamiliar areas, if you use your class’s best ranged weapon, instead of your primary DPS weapon set. This will allow you to keep a safer distance from enemies while still doing damage to them.

3.) Karma merchants in Cursed Shore sell level 80 Exotic armor sets, so if you’re short on gold but have an abundance of Karma, they are great options for new armor sets.

4.) There are tonics that turn you into cute little Blue, Pink or Black Quaggans, AND a tonic that turns you into an adorable Christmas Dolyak! They can all be bought relatively cheaply from the TP, so stock up and enjoy the fun!

Jitson.6051

Hello, I am trying to get my Ele into doing HoT maps+metas more regularly, but am struggling to survive, specifically when soloing small events or mobs.

So my current build is:
Dagger/Focus
Berserker armor
Sup Runes of Flame Legion
Some Power/Vit/Tough accessories, 1 celestial, 1 heal/tough/condi iirc

Heal+Utilites:
Water shout
Fire shout
Sig of Fire
Sig of Earth*
Glyph of Elementals

Any quick feedback/tips on how to survive better is appreciated. But specifically is there any way to increase survivability through using SigofEarth/ ArmorofEarth/ MistForm etc.? And which do you think is better for my roamy style of play? I’m planning of experimenting some more later today, but early feedback is appreciated.

I have no problem contributing dps when meta events/bosses come around and I’m in a group, it’s just the in between like roaming VB during night, I just get hung up on small groups or unable to retake camps solo etc. that put me in a bummer. Thanks in advance!

Useless Down3 skills?

in PvP

Posted by: Jitson.6051

Jitson.6051

For a while I have been super frustrated with Warrior’s Down3 skill “Vengeance”. It’s just a useless skill, why even go for it when if pretty much gives your opponents a free rally? And why is it RNG that you fully rally even after killing a foe? It should be 100% rally if you kill a foe, just like a normal rally. Ofcourse there is a trait that does that, Discipline’s “Vengeful Return” But why would I waste a trait slot to make a useless situational skill less situational?

It got to the point where I thought Warr Down3 was the most useless skill in the game, like why even include it? What was the thinking behind it?

But I took a step back and looked at other Down3 skills, and it turns out most professions have useless Down3 skills.

5 Professions have useless Down3 skills (Rev, Warr, Mes, Ele, Necro)
3 have average Down3 skills (Thief, Engi, Guard)
1 has a useful Down3 skill (Ranger)

My definition and judgment of whether a down skill is ‘useful’, is how significantly it increases the possibility of being revived. For that reason, any down skills that do damage are effectively useless. Ofcourse I’m not even considering down2 skills here, which are MUCH more useful than down3 skills across the board. This is b/c down2 skills often reposition yourself, interrupt/kd/pull enemies, thus delaying being stomped, and thus giving your party more time/room to possibly revive you.

So any opinions on the proper usage of Down3 skills? And Is it EVER worth using down3 for the ‘useless’ category of professions (Warr, Rev, Mes, Ele, Necro)? Specifically Warr I would love to hear some good arguments for its usage, if that’s even possible.

If you read my post properly, you will understand that I do not not want to play Stronghold, I enjoy some variety. To repeat, if Anet thinks Stronghold deserves a place in ranked, then it should be treated the same as other ranked maps, such that players should be able to vote on it.

I suppose an ad hoc solution would be to uncheck Stronghold after I play one round of it, then check it back after I feel like playing it again. But I want to be matched up in the largest pool of players possible, because that is supposed to lead to the more competitive matches and better guage of skill, right? That’s why I want to have both boxes checked, even though like I said, Stronghold is not really a separate game mode, just another map.

But no comments on balancing Spirit Watch?

I will try this out! I went ~6 straight losses with a typical rifle warrior build recently, and started to really lose hope. This is definitely interesting build, thankyou for sharing. But I guess I shouldn’t thank you yet until I start getting some wins with it ;P

Here is how I would balance Spirit Watch:
- make the Orb a carried object, so it disables weapon skills
- increase the respawn time of Orb
- semi-randomize the respawn time of Orb (e.g. 5, 10, 20 seconds after turn in?), so people don’t automatically know when to leave points to get the Orb (like in ToSS with Stillness/Tranquility). That way it is more of a decision whether to defend points or to go for Orb.

Stronghold:
Please stop forcing players into matches with Stronghold. If you think it deserves to be played in ranked, then give it the same treatment as other ranked maps, allow it to appear in votes and let players vote for what they want to play.

Just from my last 10 pvp games I played stronghold 6 times. I know Anet probably doesn’t care about adding more pvp maps, but I DO like at least SOME variety when playing pvp. I don’t like playing the same map twice in a row, maybe that’s just me. And there are always people who will vote for ‘unpopular’ maps, for just that reason, to change things up, even if there are only 5 maps.

Maybe if there was some way to guarantee you wouldn’t play the same map back to back. But whatever, minor concern. Just don’t try to make stronghold more than what it actually is, another map. It’s not another game mode.

Please see attached image. The icon resizes to its correct size after respawning from dying though. It is just a little annoying when entering pvp match that I cannot see the energy bar. Only happens when entering pvp maps.

Cannot Join Squad

I think it was since the update yesterday I can’t join squads. I do EoM mostly, and I always try to join commander’s squad by opening the map, clicking the commander tag and “Join Squad”.

But now whenever I click on the comm tag, nothing happens.

Also I think while I was doing EoM last evening (after the update), when I clicked on the comm tag the “Join Squad” option was grayed out and I couldn’t join. But now nothing happens when I click the comm tag.

I tried looking through the settings or asking others in the chat if they were having same problem, and they said no. So I’m at a loss. =S

NA. I have 5 characters, but none that I really “main” since I play them all pretty much equally. Joining mostly because I finally want to get into some of the dungeon fun, hoping to group with like-minded, friendly, supportive peeps.

I believe Susie has said what she wanted to say. And I do not want this to turn into an RP thread. As such I will NOT be answering why Susie worships the Six, or other personal questions, she enjoys her privacy. Yes, there is a backstory for her, no I am not sharing it here.

Reviewing the comments again to make sure I didn’t miss anything… nope just people using ad hominem on Susie because she worships the Six. Well, a few Ranger sympathizers. A person enthused about Druid. A Ranger who plays traps to troll in unranked when allies are downed..

Well I’m happy there are some Ranger sympathizers out there. Also everyone who read the whole letter, thank you so much for your time.

Oh, maybe just to be clear. Susie respects Guardians, just not the Dragonhunter variant. And finds Druids to be unoriginal and uninspiring. Otherwise I think Susie’s letter speaks for itself.

Letter from a Ranger: On the rise of the DH

Dear the Goddess’ Melandru and Dwayna,

I write to you as a humble Norn Ranger. My name is Susie Gormenghast. Since birth I have had a respect and wonder for the power of nature and beasts of all kind. I enjoy the companionship and symbiotic power of all my animal companions, even the ones I seldom take to battle. Together we have traversed Tyria and overcome many challenges!

However the recent rise of the so called Dragonhunter has filled me with feelings of spite, jealousy or even hatred. Gods, why have you blessed the Guardians with such powerful traps, while my own condition-based traps rarely see any current play?
The DH is even blessed with the ability to take up a Longbow, a weapon that gives me much pride as a Ranger.

And now I am left to wonder… why bother pursuing my profession as a Ranger further, when I feel so clearly outclassed by these new Dragonhunters. I have always been a humble ranger with respect to my hunts. But the Dragonhunters? Tell me of the dragons you have slain with only your senses, longbow, knowledge of the wild and your most trusted companion by your side. How many?

I have slain none under such conditions because hunting a dragon is no small feat for a single mortal to take on alone. It took the combined forces of Tyria, all races included in the Vigil, the Order of Whispers and the Durmand Priory to take down a SINGLE dragon. Yet Dwayna, you saw it fit to give the Guardians such a title and the power to claim such a lofty, undeserving name.

Goddess Dwayna, if you have truly given Guardians the power to hunt dragons, I ask you: What has Goddess Melandru given me as a Ranger?

The ability to heal via nature! Alas WHY would there be a need for a dedicated healer when every class can basically already heal self-sufficiently, and there already exists enough group support to negate the need for a dedicated healer entirely!?

Apparently one of my ancestors, who sends his blessings through the Hall of Monuments, was a Monk, devotee of Dwayna, a man of faith and good health. His name was Jitson O. I respect the profession of Monk and its way of life.

But times have changed. Our professions, abilities and the rules of battle have changed completely. What we are capable of with these god-given abilities has changed.
Why thought you, Melandru, to copy the teachings of the Monk and imbue them into us Rangers, when there is no need for it. No originality.

Gods, I do not know what changes you have in store for the future, but please heed my words. The dragonhunters do not deserve the power they have been given. Guardians, already strong heavy supportive tanks, but are now given powerful traps, complimented my a long-range weapon to pester enemies who try to avoid those traps. Dare I say, they have corrupted the meaning and spirit of trapping and hunting.

And the patience and precision that comes with trap and bow mastery. Too too often have I seen DHs barge into an enemy, lay their traps with no fear and win. By the six, dragonhunter is currently the only class that has none of my respect.

Finally with respect to the Druids new powers of healing: Perhaps you take all Rangers to be treehugging hippies. But that is a wrongful stereotype of our profession. An understanding of the wilderness comes with an understanding of the power and ferocity behind it, not just the symbiotic relationship between nature and life. This power and ferocity I find completely absent from the Druid profession, which gives Rangers a needless dedicated healer role in this day and age.

Ultimately I respect the power of the Gods and the decisions that you all have made and will continue to make together. Perhaps I am currently blinded by emotions, inexperience or lack of knowledge or perspective. I thank the Gods for watching over Tyria, I thank the Gods for such a beautiful world to explore and do battle in. But as it stands I am thankless for the Druid and Dragonhunter professions.

Sincerely, your humble servant,
Susie Gormenghast
