Please don’t water down the SAB just because an extremely vocal group of people don’t like it. I love the grueling difficulty of it and have been having more fun in GW2 than I have in a long time. One of my favorite things about the Living Story events is that they don’t have to cater to every player since they come and go so fast. Not every living story event is for every player. I personally play every single one that involves a jumping puzzle, but I don’t really do much with the dungeons. It doesn’t bother me that the dungeons don’t cater to my specific tastes because 1, I enjoy the base game a lot, and 2, I know that there’s always more content right around the corner.
If you don’t like the SAB, just don’t play it. If you feel World 2 is too hard for you, just play World 1. Games are supposed to get harder as you go along, and the SAB should be no exception. I had a ton of trouble with World 2, but by the time I got through it, I had gotten really good at it. That feeling of mastery is so much more rewarding for gamers like me than any item or title – although those are nice too. (Please make a title for Tribulation Mode.)
The main thing I’m trying to say here though is please don’t make the SAB any less difficult. I honestly hope that World 3 is more challenging than World 2 too.
Well DB has new interesting Meta – kill their afkers and protect yours by your own bodies:-D
But it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I help an afker bag a win…
I’m not sure if this would wholly circumvent the issues you are having, but it may help: Try guesting on a low population world. I play on a lower population world and have never seen this farming to the extent you describe. Sure, we have our farming zergs, but they are small and infrequent enough that you can avoid them and all the hassle they bring with them.
I will agree with you on the point that the Guild Wars 2 community can be fairly horrendous at times. I think the anti-griefing incorporated in the game design lets people think they can play like poop-flinging goblins without any consideration to the newcomers. I’ve also seen players who single out one character, follow them around, and kill everything around them before they can even tag.
So, answering your question of where to get the best weapons, you’re most likely to find the best weapons on the Trading Post. You can filter the type of weapon you’re looking for and the level range as well, and then pick whichever one has the stats you like the best. Honestly, having the perfect weapon isn’t that important at lower levels since you’re just going to outgrow it in an hour.
As for the weapon combinations that are best, I’m sure you’ve gathered so far that there is a plethora of viable options for the warrior and that it mostly comes down to what you want to accomplish and personal preference.
One weapon that I feel is being neglected here is the shield, which gives a nice defense boost and some handy defensive skills by itself; but there are a couple traits that make the shield even better. One reflects projectiles you block, so a well timed skill 5 can tear ranged enemies apart with minimal effort. Another simply decreases cool downs (which are relatively high for the shield skills) and gives a nice defense boost. I favor using an axe in my main hand, and the shield’s inherent defense boost lets me focus my gear stats on offense.
The main thing you need to do as a warrior is play with different weapon combos at any chance you get since we have access to so many. You don’t need to have top notch weapons at lower levels; just play with each weapon you loot for a bit until you find something that works for you.
tl;dr Use the Trading Post to get the best gear for your level. (Low level weapons aren’t terribly expensive.) Shield is awesome. Play with different weapon combinations until you find something that you find fun. (Any weapon combination can be viable with the right gear and traits.)
