Picking on games simply because you don’t like them is not going to help the subject matter. What is at stake here is how poorly developed spvp/tpvp was launched. Having amazing gw1 pvp and none of it was implemented. Also, this game has been in development since 2007 and had plenty of time to lay a more solid foundation is what bothers me.

You brought up D3 as an example, not me. I just stated what happened to that game since launch. It still doesn’t have PvP. And that games been dead.
Fact of the matter is, the same thing would have happened to GW2 if they held all PvP out of the game. An entire player base would cease to exist. There would be a HELL of alot more people complaining about missing half the content out of an entire game as opposed to a proportionately smaller amount of players making generalized comments about how “bad” the system is.
tl;dr D3 failed and it’s better to QQ about broken PvP than no PvP at all.
I would like to point something out in the interview with Jonathan sharp about the state of pvp. Jonathan pretty much said pvp is not were they wanted it to be, but he states that they wont release something until its ready.(Like ladders,Arenas etc…)That seems to be anet favorite phrase this days. Than he states that the reason why pvp is in its current state is because pve was done and the game was released on the account knowing pvp was not fully finished. They thought that they could build upon pvp as time went by.
To me what Jonathan said is just one big contradiction in my eyes. Why even release pvp if its not done? You guys even state you wont release until its ready. Why not just wait like how d3 is doing it? Why did you guys not put enough effort into pvp like how you guys did pve? You bring up gw1 pvp in the interview but don’t acknowledge that it was a good foundation already that you guys could of used. I’m sorry if it seems like a rant. I just have to many questions as to why pvp is so bad currently. You guys could have done a lot better job. I had huge hopes for pvp. You guys should have just stuck to your guns and waited UNTIL ITS READY! I would of been more than happy to wait knowing pvp would be rock solid than what we currently have. I think the community would agree.

1v1 implemented —> On the lower end of the skill spectrum people whine and kitten about mesmers and thieves --> On the higher end of the skill spectrum people whine and kitten about guardians and perma stealth thieves (sittin invis forever if they can’t win which leads to rage) —>Eventually more whining-->nerfs—>wvw/spvp/tpvp suffer.
You don’t have to talk about 1v1 balance; other people will talk about 1v1 balance when it gets implemented, and they will talk a lot.
Literally everything you just said is already in the game, so wtf if your point? They’re unkillable guardians, perma stealth thieves, and mesmers in spvp. If you want to use a perma stealth thief in 1v1 be my kittening guest. If I can’t kill you and you can’t kill me bring on the kittening “Draw”. I don’t want Anet to waste their time with 1v1 balance, and they’ve already made it clear it’s not going to happen. So, why are you still bringing it up?. Let the devs balance the game with the pro’s, so they can get the esport rolling. Just because people will bltch and moan about 1v1 balance doesn’t mean we should limit game modes and options for everyone. I’m not saying, “Don’t start a thread and talk about 1v1 balance.” I’m saying, “Right here, in this kittening thread let’s stop saying the same kittening thing as the rest of the mob.”
In a team setting many of those points are invalid. Guardians aren’t unkillable in a 5v5. Perma stealth thieves aren’t really an issue in formats based around capturing points. 1v1’s are a completely different format based on killing your opponent in single combat. If 1v1’s are introduced, Balance changes for 1v1’s WILL come sooner or later.
Talking about 1v1’s and not talking about 1v1 balance is like talking about the night sky and refusing to talk about the moon. It’s kinda hard to miss, even if you squint real hard.

So if the ability is already worthless/useless/weak, so easily countered, then that must mean that nobody builds around it any more. It’s a non-skill like the Elementalist skill Shatterstone. That must also mean that nobody will then mind if it gets nerfed, right?

Either it’s so bad that nerfs to it are irrelevant and thus not worth arguing over or the people who are saying it’s awful are wrong about its effectiveness.
HB is pretty awesome at PvE.

Imbalances issues vs variety.
Guess ArenaNet decided not to even bother.
So a purely situational skill should be nerfed to the floor because of the 1-2 times a round you get HB’d to death when:
1 – You have no cooldowns to counter CC’s/mitigate damage
2 – You have no energy to dodge
3 – You’re just bad
All the examples given of how “overpowered” HB is purely situational itself. I play a warrior and I don’t even run a GS spec. It sucks for PvP imo. Plus they’re ridiculously easy to take down.

Anyway, since I’m unbanned I’ll stay away from the forums.
So, at about 100+ hours into the ban. No response still besides the initial response for submitting a ticket.
I just recently updated what I remember doing before I got banned. But I’ve been updating the ticket everyday.
My ticket nuumber is in my signature. I didn’t bot.

Funny how ArenaNet released a statement saying how they hired “data analysts” to ban something around 1,600 bot accounts. That same post also states, these “data analysts” do in fact have automated bans.

Good to see Gaile back again – I understand that it’s hard to keep everyone updated and happy so I’m pleased to see her post.
Most of the good news posts have been from this fraud issue and I haven’t read a lot of success stories from these incorrectly banned accounts labeled as bots. I am going from optimism to pessimism and back again as I wait patiently for a response.
I still can’t work out why my account was labeled as this though so I’m very concerned that once I get my account back it will get flagged again unless I change … something?? It would be nice if someone from AN comes out and says it was a problem with their antibotting procedures and they have resolved it so accounts won’t get falsely flagged again, just so I don’t freak out every time something happens in game. (provided I get back on – which I’m hopeful the truth will come out and prove I’m not botting)

I’m sure theyre slammed because..I included all that info already in my ticket, but it IS progress.
Bott banned folks keep an eye on your email they seem to have some type of method in place. GL. I’ll let ya know when/if I get back in

Some people just get lucky I guess. I updated my ticket everyday and provided all necessary info in regards to my account. I’m about 5 days in since my ban.

What “Elite Bot Banning Team”? It’s a broken algorythm that just autobans players that fit ArenaNet’s criteria of being a bot. Why? It’s cost efficient. No need to hire people to form these so-called teams that dedicate their time looking for bots.
ArenaNet hired some Data Analyst to detect botting behavior.

Why in the world would you outsource a different entity? Data analysts? What do these guys know about Guild Wars 2? (From the looks of things absolutely nothing)

Jsx, AN have now serious problems I think. They serial keys system and online sales looks like not working very well, they lost a lot of revenue to fraud accounts and are hit hard by gold sellers. They fighting for life now I think. I will support AN and will help them when in troubles like now. Thats not paid per month game. If they loose a lot of money they will be forced to fire programmers etc. Just help them, submit ticket, wait and do not make troubles. All security measures hit legit players hard. Thats my point of view….
Gold seller problems can be fixed. But running a ban bot script is not the answer. If ArenaNet is really losing players, they only have themselves to blame.
Besides, from what I’ve been reading on the forums, more than half of these “fraudulent accounts” were purchased directly from the main website. Again, not the players problem.
If anything, the lack of support or absolutely zero support for many cases, might even be pushing more players away from the game.

Do they really expect to believe that they have hundreds of people checking for bots when support obviously can’t handle all the mistakes?

So … proper game purchase AND not hacked, since he was actually playing when it happened. No excuses for this, A-Net.

Back to WoW, I guess.
I have to ask some stupid questions, since I have never played WoW.
1. Does WoW have botting/gold seller issues as bad as GW2?
2. If not, what is Blizzard doing that ArenaNet isn’t?
3. Does WoW have issues with mass banning?WoW has bots and gold sellers just like every other MMO, if it’s ~just~ as bad idk because it’s been a long time since I quit WoW but I have never heard of mass banning thats for sure, at least that involved so many innocent.
WoW resolved the huge RMT problem they had by introducing daily quests that gave huge gold rewards. Which ended up dropping the market for real cash to gold sales.
Obviously there’s still a market for accounts and such, but basically Blizzard made changes to the game to fix their issues.
I have no idea what ANet is doing. Besides banning innocent players.

So…my account was banned at approximately 11/10 7:30PM PST. Based on the ban black screen I’ve been reading from other players on this thread. I didn’t think much of it, just logged out since I had somewhere to be that night.
Came back later that night to find out my account was banned. No explainations, just banned. No responses still at 11/13 9:30AM PST.
I’ve updated my ticket twice, but nothing. Even a “we’re working on it” response would be nice.

Please read this thread and try to justify that statement.
Unless either the entire 38 page thread is lying. Which is HIGHLY unlikely.
Or those people in charge of banning so-called bots should all be fired and replaced. Because it’s pretty obvious they’re bad at their jobs.
Banned on 11/10 for being AFK.
It was more than likely 1 person or trainee that saw a bot and thought cool I get to ban a bot, and then not knowing the system well enough banned alot of people.
Or a more cynical look, or conspiracy theory is that GW2 is not making as much money as they would like so they decided to take long time players and ban them thinking they will go out an purchase another copy.
I have talked to Gaile Gray in the past and the Frog and they seem like nice peopel, I even played with a few devs back in the old GW1 days on my monk and everyone seemed like nice down to earth people. So I am pretty sure they are not purposely banning known humans, However it is a bit surprising that NCSoft has shut down the communication.
While I can understand that trying to hide a system / billing issue, At least they could do is let people know that they are trying to fix it.
I think the billing system will be the first fix because it is what brings in NEW money and affect a wider cut of the people (Gems, and new accounts).
And it makes perfect business sense to fix that first.. But hey atleast let people know that is the plan. if there is even a plan.Brian Speck

This definitely isn’t the first time NCSoft dropped the ball in terms of customer support. It’s a shame because the game is alot of fun.
I’m more curious as to how those people behind these wave of bans came to the conclusion that all these people were “botting.”
