P/P is not top by any means but it’s a lot of fun. Do what you enjoy unless you’re trying to win a tourney or something.

S/D or D/P for sPvP?

P/P with a “gunslinger” build. My win % may go down 1 or 2 points but idc it’s the build I have tons of fun playing.

What do you think of this rant?

Serious question, is it okay to refer to someone from China as a “Chinaman”? Same as you would say a Frenchman or Welshman? I’ve seen this and wasn’t sure. In the big lebowski Walter said it’s not the preferred nomenclature.

Funny someone mentioned team comps. I’ve only been playing PvP for two days. I’ve only had an 80 in this game for two days. Needless to say, I suck pretty bad. I’m a Thief that gets absolutely slaughtered by Mesmers which from what I’ve read shouldn’t happen. Though I am running D/D just because I like it. Anyway, yesterday I got put on a team of ALL thieves. I sat on a point while the rest of them just annihilated the other team. We won 500-5. Though I don’t know if I should say we since I didn’t do kitten

I have 1v1’d a few ppl, Warrior(s), Ele, Necro but they were probably just as bad as I am lol. I’m slowly getting better though. Should probably go S/D or P/D but I just enjoy D/D.

An Idea to make stealth more fun.

Sounds like the Rogue in the game I used to play. Been playing GW2 (Never played 1) for a few months and I’m just now learning to love the GW2 COMPLETELY stealth mechanic. It was hard to get used to and I still don’t have an 80 of any Profession due to me swapping back to my Warrior (first toon) every time I die since it’s so easy. But I have a 64 Thief and I don’t think I’ve died in PvE since like 40 or so basically since I learned to evade which I never would’ve learned on my Warrior b/c it’s not needed while leveling. I have died a lot still but it was during the big Wurm world boss (still haven’t been with a group that even took one wurm down lol) and the queens gauntlet, boss blitz (actually didn’t die much during this while doing my job).

Anyway, I’m rambling. I do like permastealth and if you asked me a few months ago I’d take the WoW style stealth in a second but now I like the GW2 style better.

Again, I have NO 80’s so no endgame exp so excuse me if I’m talking out of my @$$ this is just my opinion in what I’ve experienced thus far.

P.S. Off topic, but as a whole, this game kicks the s#lt out of WoW and SWtoR imo but again, haven’t done endgame yet but storywise and leveling…thumbs up

Meh, so it’s really not too much faster and MUCH more expensive than I thought. Thanks I’ll go the old fashioned route. Now to decide what first…Thief, War, or Ele.. but that’s for another forum another time. Appreciate the info.

Hello all,

I was wondering if it’s possible to level a toon from about level 20-80 solely through crafting? If so what are the best profs to do it for the cheapest and on that thought about how much will it cost assuming I purchase all mats off the TP?

I enjoy leveling normally and learning the in’s and out’s of my class (well profession I guess, forgive me I’m from that other game) but I’d like to get one character to 80 as quickly as possible just to check out endgame content and really just to have an 80 on my account.

Thanks.

Well it’s definitely between my Thief and Warrior now. Both 15. Both fun. Little more fun w/ Thief, little easier w/ Warrior. Still torn but going with Thief now because I enjoy it more even though from what I gather Thieves are pretty much kicked from every dungeon which sucks but is okay with me so long as they’re good at PvP. And thanks again all.

I really appreciate all of your responses. Right now I’m playing:

1)Warrior (15) I stomp out most everything and love the huge weapon selection
2)Thief (14) and just got full map completion for the human starting zone, having a ton of fun with Thief but it’s hard and I die. A lot.
3)Guardian (10) is fun but it seems like it could get stale after awhile and (for now at least) doesn’t have much mobility
4)Engineer (3) too early to tell but seems like it could be fun
5)Mesmer (2) really strange mechanics, too early to tell if I like that or not

Feel free to keep your opinions of your favorite classes coming as I enjoy reading every response

Still not positive on what I should main that’s why I’m switching a lot.

Thank you both for your quick and informative responses

I have more motivation to keep at it now and learn the class instead of playing something easier.

Hey all. New to Guild Wars. I played WoW for a few years and SWtoR for a few months more recently. I like GW2 better than both of them so far. I’ve leveled up a Warrior, Thief, and Guardian to 15, 14, and 10 respectively, and other classes just to 3 or 4. Thief is fun but now I’m dying in nearly every fight unless I kill the mob in like 2 seconds. I’m used to the Rogue stealth mechanic so this is strange to me but I asked about that on the Thief forum. Warrior seems to steamroll everything I face unless I get overwhelmed by a large group. Guardian seems to be able to kill anything I face so far without getting a scratch on me. Rangers and Engineers seem like they could be fun from the little bit I’ve played so far. Just looking for some opinions on what my first class to level all the way up should be. I’m leaning towards Warrior, maybe Thief if I get better at it. I want something that deals a ton of damage and can solo and level decently. I’d prefer physical damage but if Mesmer or Ele are good and fun I wouldn’t rule them out. Not sure what I’ll spend more time on end game, PvP or PvE, probably both leaning slightly more towards PvP though I haven’t done any yet. I know I need to make my own decision I’m just looking for some other peoples opinions on what a first good main would be, what you enjoy and why. Thanks all!

Stealth question - New to game

in Thief

Hey all I’m very new to GW. I used to play WoW for years then stopped and played SWtoR then stopped playing MMO’s altogether for the past year or so. I’m really enjoying the game so far but I have a lot of questions but I’ll keep it to Thief for now.

1) Is there a stealth mode that you can stay in as long as you want out of combat (like Rogues in WoW) or just certain abilities that give you stealth for a few seconds in combat?

2) Only level 14 and do pretty good damage with D/D and P/P weapon sets but I die SO fast against anything that I don’t kill right away. Any suggestions or just l2p?

3) Are Thieves basically similar to Rogues in WoW in that they do extremely quick and high damage and have a lot of CC utility or is every class in GW2 basically whatever you make it out to be?

These questions may not make a lot of sense just trying to learn as much as the game and each class as I can right now so I can decide what to main. Have a Warrior the same level that steamrolls everything and a level 10 Guardian that doesn’t die. I guess Thief just requires more skill?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks and btw I already like this game better than WoW and SWtoR put together. Good day to you all!
