Yes but there are plenty of classes and of equilibration to do.
So 2 devs for fixing EVERY disbalances in the game is not so much…
Well this is the first time I post since the beginning of the event.
I had foreseen how ascended could be implemented and was waiting to see how it turns. I am sad about how the only MMO which was FUNNY is changing its policy.
But I think there is nothing to do, the only thing we can do is wait and see how the game will become a failure like SWTOR. The only think I’m pretty sure is the damage has already been done and the community has lost its confidence in Anet.
The game is yours now hardcore players, so enjoy the emptiness of maps without the impressive number of fanboys that had pleasure in this game.
So back in April ArenaNet released their very nice Manifesto. A quote from there states “It all gets back to our basic design philosophy. Our games aren’t about preparing to have fun, or about grinding for a future fun reward. Our games are designed to be fun from moment to moment”.
What happened to that? They made an awesome game that holds so much promise for years of fun. Why change stance now and implement systems that games like WoW and Lotro tried and abandoned?!
Their clarification just makes me more worried! This kind of gear progression will just segregate ppl and if this how it will work in coming dungeons I can’t take a break for a couple of months and run current content with friends since I won’t have full ascended gear… :p
It’s an old stupid system, lazy, and boring game design to have this kind of artificial barrier in group content. I held ArenaNet to higher standards than this and hope they think long and hard regarding the path they take!
Hope the community can in an ordered and constructive fashion enlighten ArenaNet that this is not the game we bought and hoped to be playing years to come!
Cheers, Agaetis
We just see in this an enormous lack of imagination about how to provide new long-term content to players. In response to some lack of pve end game, they added OP stuff to keep players busy. Here it is Anet, your original mmo is just like any mmo on the market.
I recently received this mail from google. (By the way i LOVE google^^)

I guess, people who ask for get rid of pets don’t like their aesthetics in the main, not mechanics. They think like “I am ranger, agile and cunning, so why I forced to carry this clumsy bag of fur, that they name pet? It makes me look bulky!” So, just use birds – they are almost unnoticeable on the game screen. Or maybe Anet should give us small, flying, endure and long-ranged pets, that will be just another fancy accessory for ranger, like minis.
Yeah i like this idea. If i could carry around say an air elemental as a pet that would be amazing.
Of course pets need major fixes. More responsiveness, better control, good AI, resistance to AOE, better tracking, ability to hit moving targets, better f2 skills, etc. I also want them to follow me down cliffs instead of running 5 miles backwards to walk down a path.
I don’t like this idea, I like different categories of pet. Plus it let the choice to the player to choose if he does or does not like have a bird, a canine or a moa for example. I also vary builds available and style of ranger you can encounter.
If some players don’t like any pets but birds, you have the right to take birds, but don’t impose this to the others^^
Even if this class seems to have most of the skills giving fury, I don’t think it is possible to maintain constant fury. But that’s right, a ranger can maintain fury for a long time (with the 2nd minor trait of skirmishing, the 6th major trait of marksmanship, the last skill of the warhorn and its elite skill rampage as one) even if i did not test it.
But specializing the ranger that way transforms it into something really fragile, and, in my opinion, not really playable.

One thing I despised about WoW was the “Now working as intended”. Let’s consider games like Pokemon, Magic the Gather and D&D. All of these games had a very similar structure. They allowed ability synergy. In WoW when synergy was found it was usually removed as it was “not working as intended”.
If someone could use speed boosts and other such abilities to use terrain to their advantage. Including getting over walls. Then I think that’s a viable tactic. Why can’t keeps have some kind of dangerous backdoor. Put a siege to guard it. Protect it. It’s not likely that a massive zerg could effectively use some kind of difficult jumping based entry anyways.
I agree with that but for the balance if using such type of synergy to have synergy gives an advantage, there should be another synergy which would allow the opposite team to counter this advantage or to have another advantage of the same value.
Do not chose classes which are for now OP because when a nerf will come, you will be disapointed by a class in which you did not like the mechanism but the strenght.
The best for you is to try every class in WvW for about 1 or 2 hours and to choose by yourself. Every class are really different, so it is easy to find yours.
This idea is really cool. I like it, it would improve the interface, plus giving another type of strategy in WvsW
While removing Arrow carts, please remove golems, ballista’s, catapults, rams, trebuchets, and such.
Also please remove portals, AOE’s, stuns, and anything else, which proves you can’t just PvDoor.
that what i usually call trolling. But anyway
which…… leaves many many other areas open to be taken. you guys may with to practice this stage for a while until you have it perfected. yu’ll make a boatload of cash from flipping the camps and the individual towers, and the price of a catapult and repairs will be covered easily.
once you’ve gotten that mastered, your next step is to pick a tower to defend. for this, you’ll need more siege (a catapult behind the door, some arrow carts along the inner railing of the walls) and most of the placement is really trial and error. when it gets attacked and taken, and it will quite often at first, don’t get discouraged. watch where they attacked from, and how they attacked. then think about what can be done to counter that particular attack method. then add that to your overall defensive scheme to that particular tower. it will take time to perfect, and there will be many many failures along the way, but you will make a little bit more progress each time. and a little bit more profit each time. consider those profits to be just an investment toward your next attempt. eventually, you’ll figure out your ideal defense, and be able to create death fields of your own, and that’s when the real morale and monetary gains go through the roof. once you have that tower’s defense pretty well figured out, you can start on the camp that sends yaks to it. don’t worry about upgrading the tower at this point. you need to be able you can firmly secure both areas before you can worry about that. once you’ve done that, take a look at the areas that are closest to your tower, and look for second area to claim, preferably with a treb you set up inside the tower you already own. then, when your defenders are keeping the attackers at bay, you can have a single person on your treb counter punching, so to speak. the first few times might also be a bit rough. your treb might not be set in the right place to reach. it could be in an area that’s vulnerable to AoE. the key is to never give up. you will get knocked down a lot, but you have to observe how you were knocked down, and be ready to prevent it the next time. do everything you can to keep morale high, and always be encouraging. “good try everyone. we’ll be ready for that the next time they try it” goes a long way.
also, make sure you don’t just rush back to the same spot immediately after a failed defense. there’s no shame in waiting 15 minutes for the situation to reset itself before starting over. it’s called playing possum. then start the process all over again. remember to keep what works, and eliminate what doesn’t. and even if you don’t end up taking a large portion of the map, you’ll still have a lot of fun holding onto that one area that you do have. my favorite moments are made up from the matches where we’ve only been able to hold 1 tower on any of the maps, and fought for hours at a time to defend it with everything we had.
oh, and you don’t really need a VOIP server to be successful. it’s a nice tool, but you can adapt to where you can work around not having it. personally, i never bother with them, for multiple reasons, and i’m still able to get good results. both while leading and while following. there are tricks you can develop to work around needing any voice chat. though, i’ve talked for long enough, and that’s really a seperate issue for another time.
This is what I call a viable strategy for small servers, you do not need to hold big keeps or every points of the map to have fun. The easiest way to have fun in WvW is to have a sense a accomplishing something nearly impossible like holding a tower with 10 ppl vs 50 organized ppl.
But don’t forget, the most important is to adapt you strategy. try to be as random as possible. You have an advantage compared to ennemies, with less people, your army is more flexible and unpredictable.
Weapon siege are not the problem. What you are proposing is very similar to the structured pvp we already have but in larger scale.
I tried to go to a low ranked server for WvW and it really sucked, I understand your frustration. There is no organization, nobody want to invest in it, and the maps are never enough populated to have any chance against their opponent.
If you want to have fun on WvW you have different solutions:
- You can change of server (don’t blame it is a solution and I have to propose it^^)
- You can create or enter in a guild where people do want to invest in WvW
- You do what i did, you create a little group of 5 people, and then you take supplies camp and make everything possible to cripple ennemies (that is fun)
- Or you can try to organize people on the map and give them enough confidence in you to put siege weapon and to listen your strategies (Encouraging people is part of WvW)
About repairing, you’re right it is a serious issue in WvW. Be patient, I think devs are working on it. What I do about that is some farming even if I don’t like it, I do it awaiting for a solution proposed by devs.
I don’t really agree with you phoebe ascension. Listening to you we could also propose to remove every siege weapon from the game because this will increase the importance of player skills with their hero. Trebs, catas, ballistas are also very strong against players.
But WvW is more about strategy, without siege weapons, there is almost no strategy, and with no strategy, its just a simple sPvP with big teams.
Maybe there are siege weapons which are too strong in some situations, but that is the objective. Players must place siege weapons to have an advantage on the other team. Your server can do the same.
Find a good location for a cata or a treb, or even a ballista, gather people, to defend it, and destroy those arrowcarts.
I think I have heard about their project to implement it soon. If i remember well they said they didn’t implement it for now because it was not ready.
market manipulation is not so bad. Someone makes an offer on an item.
Let’s say this offer is 50% reduction on its selling price., the person who has the item has the choice to sell it or not with 50% reduction or not.
If the person does it, well good for them, they have a direct cash income. The person who bought it cheaper is also happy.
Everyone is happy, and even if some prices increase, the offers for items increase too (because of high demand from speculators) so everyone has more money to buy what they want.
The only thing ANet has to manage is the rate for exchanging gems and gold. They also have to manage the prices from merchants. And to make sure some money disappear from the game with rates in TP and costs for teleporting and repairing.

Tailor took me around 4-5 golds, but i did it in one time without making advantageous offers on craft materials i needed.
Cook took me around 2 gold, it is in my opinion the cheapest one. But do not hope to make any profit with this profession, like the others the stuff are under-evaluated.
For Leatherworker, i don’t really remember, I think it took me around 6-7 golds but I am not sure, and since the market has changed a lot.
For Jeweler, i thought about raising it to 400, but making calc convinced me to don’t do that because the costs seemed really high even compared to weaponsmith or armorsmith. Plus the rentability is minimal or negative at lvl 400.
hi,
all of this message is about the personnal story for the asura. So for people who don’t want any information about it, do not read it.
Gorr is an asuran doctor and he has a theory about dragons consuming magic.
What i do not understand in this story is why is he captured by the Arcane Eye (the secret police of the arcane council and why do we have to trick for revealing it to asuran people?
Is the Arcane council a sort of dictature hiding important information or something like that?
wow. is that really how you view it?
For me it was a journey. I’ve never been a completionist in my life, but I felt compelled to do it in GW2, because I love the world, the mythos, the races(Quaggan!).
The only thing that was not always fun where the Hearts. But getting everything else… many of them where a real challenge. Vistas that were hard to reach, had to scout the map for hours and endless ways. same with PoIs.
I agree with that statement. The only time i felt impatient, was around 80-90% because it seemed repetitive to me.
But the good thing in this game is, you have no obligation of doing anything. If you are bored of this, you can temporarily do another activity. Another idea is to change the type of zones you are exploring.
When i was bored of Kryta, i was going to Ascalon or another zone.
Firstly i would like to thank everyone on this tread for bringing this tool. But even if I was very enjoyed by the config given by Caedmon, I quickly remarked the game was in my opinion too darky or too colourful depending on where I was.
The best way i have found to combine a good rendering without sacrifying the original colours of the game was the following:
#define USE_SMAA_ANTIALIASING 1
#define USE_LUMASHARPEN 1
#define USE_BLOOM 0
#define USE_HDR 1
#define USE_TECHNICOLOR 0
#define USE_DPX 0
#define USE_LIFTGAMMAGAIN 0
#define USE_TONEMAP 0
#define USE_VIBRANCE 1
#define USE_CURVES 0
#define USE_SEPIA 0
#define USE_VIGNETTE 0
#define USE_DITHER 0
#define USE_SPLITSCREEN 0
I just modified :
/—————————————————————————————-.
/ HDR settings /
’—————————————————————————————-/
#define HDRPower 1.30
#define radius2 0.82
/—————————————————————————————-.
/ Vibrance settings /
’—————————————————————————————-/
#define Vibrance 0.00
I kept the other elements by default to keep a rendering as natural as possible
For those like Korrigan or Wolf who just like natural and soft colours, I advice you to test this config. It erase the grey veil on the screen and highlights shadows and details.
Here are some screenshots:
(2 screenshots per panorama : the first is with the added anti-aliasing, the second is from the original game)

I don’t know for the others in this community but i really hate the children just behind the bank in Lion’s arch
Their game of ghosts and monsters gives me the desire of murder!
May I have the right to kill them with an emote or maybe i don’t know just the possibility to shut off their voice? Oo
I think the objective was to make this puzzle something social so doing it alone is not as funny as it is.
But that’s true, there groups are too large, maybe an instance for each race or something like that could be interesting.
Human —-——- Asura
Ranger —-——- Elementalist
No buff
I was disapointed by the reward (soulbound, existing skin and not interested in stats) but its a jumping puzzle, i’m used to it^^
I played Whispers and Priory now and personnally i prefered tybalt
I think another thing players could dislike is the difficulty. I went in these zones with a character lvl 70-80 and even with a full exotic stuff, the ghosts are very hard to kill.
But the charr area is really beautiful, and deserve more people to be interested in.
Personnaly i prefered this zone rather than the human one because of the ennemies which are more charismatic, the panoramas, the dragon brand and the shatterer, and also because i did not think the area of Ascalon could reborn after the searing in GW1.

Ok so it’s not just with me
Hello guys,
I just wanted to know if the fact i just mine 3 times on rich orichalcum nodes is a bug or is normal since any patch?
free transfers are not the problem anymore. Now the only thing canceling free tranfers would do is to freeze the situation.
It’s not as easy as it sounds: developers have to find solutions to give the possibility to people to reverse any situation in order to dispatch guilds and people.
It’s hard to find out without disbalancing again the WvW.
Well i’m happy to see you are working on it. It is important for us to see developers listening to the community.
But during the time you’re working on it; the WvW is going worse and worse, if you are not quick enough to bring even temporary solutions: soon there will be nobody wanting to join it.
30 minutes after the match started between Ereddon Terrace, Henge of Denravi and Blackgate, everything is blackgate on all maps… this situation is almost everywhere and the endgame content is a lot affected.
I really love this game but for a minimum of 1 week I am gonna play another game because I’m bored of this situation.
