If France and England, who have been fighting on and off for some thousand years, can ally against a more powerful, common enemy (Germany in WWI and WWII), then so can the Charr and Humans. (used those two races, since they are the one who actually WERE fighting for a long time)

Thank you, Olithia.

btw, my main character is a white skin (as in actually white, not “of European descent” white) and white hair, tough-as-nails, heavy-drinking giant of a Norn woman.

Now that I’ve stated my opinion on the matter, I will step aside and let the debate continue.

“’e’s not dead, ’e’s resting!”

Sorry, couldn’t resist the reference.

No apologies needed. It is a well-played and applicable reference indeed.

So, wait . . . “To me, it seems silly” (the only part of my post that I could see as even close to a personal attack . . . if by “close,” I mean just within ICBM range) is now a personal attack, equated to accusations of “being damaged as a child”? Well, actually the closest to being a personal attack was the reference to my own stubbornness, but that would be one against myself.

By the way, I am descended from Oneida Indians, the closest representation in gaming of them is the Iroquois of Civ games (which is more generic North American Indian than Iroquois specifically, anyway). At least, I can’t think of another (a lot for tribes of the Great Plains and Southwest Desert, but none of the Iroquois Confederacy). So, you may want to stop the broad generalizations of your detractors. (oh, and in Civ games, I typically played Spain and Russia, neither of which I have ancestry from, due to their bonuses)

It may just be my stubbornness, but I grew up different but didn’t care. If others have a problem with it, that’s THEIR problem, not mine.

I also play characters that look ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like me and do not seek out characters who are “like me,” especially in looks.

To me, it seems silly.

This seems to happen EVERY SINGLE TIME the PC(s) in an MMO kill a “Big Bad.” I think it stems from some idea that the PCs in an MMO are only a little more powerful than the vendors and non-combatants and a LOT weaker than pretty much any NPC/monster that is in any way important in the lore.

The main thing about the Norn is that they are big and strong. Having another PC race being big (Charr) and the myriad of big NPCs and monsters is bad enough. Newer races should be human-sized or smaller. (Either that, or allow Norn to become bigger, to reclaim that main thing for PC races!)

From my perspective, Rytlock, Logan, and Zojja all act like immature brats.

Are Charr Atheist like me?

The problem with matching real-world faiths with fantasy worlds where the divine is as self-evident as the existence of mountains is that real-world faiths are based on belief (belief in a god, belief in many gods, belief there is no god, etc.), which by its very nature, relies on not knowing. This includes atheism.

It feels like one of those satirical comic books/cartoons/etc. where the “Hero” is worthless but is heaped with praise, while the “Sidekick” does all the work and gets sidelined. The only two differences are that it is played straight (instead of as comedy) and, instead of giving out well-deserved snark and sarcasm, my character is forced to also dish out praise to the guy that was taking a dirt nap while I was killing the bad guys.
