Why, is AMD bad? Do you think overclocking could help make the game less laggy in WvW? during PvE/Dungeons i’m fine on high, and during Meta events a tad laggy.
LMFAO! No, not all dude, AMD is great and not overpriced. Dont you worry.
But for your FPS, I myself have a fantastic Computer, but when it comes to zerging in WvW and world bosses, it still pummels my machine. try lowering the character model detail to the lowest, not like you’re going to stand their and look at them anyway ;P and playing on medium/ low settings isn’t all that bad right?
But if you must play on high, an SSD will only add a few FPS, its really only good for lowering loading times. I would recommend looking into the latest AMD 8 Core, GW2 is more CPU intensive that ive found.
Idk what you’re system is looking like, but also try looking for GFX cards with higher memory and processing speed. GW2 isn’t the most optimized game, so you’ll need alot of power :P
I’m tired of seeing ppl getting rich from playing the TP like this is Wall Street Wars 2.
In reality I’m just jealous I don’t know how to invest. But still it’s ridiculous.
I feel you dude, Ive tried looking into guides and tips on Flipping items, and it just becomes insanely confusing. even with all the websites and tools, i still fail to make a profit with the market rapidly changing every minute. You’re not the only one that feels that way
I feel ya RP’ers, As a previous RP’er, i can only imagine your frustration :/
If it helps, try blocking general chat in the options for the time being, while RP’ing. Also, the Megaserver isn’t 100% implemented yet, so if the crowed of jerks gets too much, try moving to a new area in the world, the’re are alot of very nice villages and forts throughout Tyria.
I wish you all luck :-/
I can confirm that Rata Sum and the human city are now part of the megaserver. Rata Sum may look like a ghost town from the top, but take a trip to the bank area
That’s a good question. Do we even still get more from doing map completions now? The whole 3 for 1 charge thing is still a huge rip off.
Yeah 3 for 1 does sting pretty bad :/
yea wth!?!?!? It’s the only reason i started going for 100% map completion! I stock piled 40 of them! and now im down to like 13! 17 after the 5 free charges.
Kalaster,
Joining a guild cross server will not effect you much unless you are looking for a healthy level of guild wvw. You can still join your guild, regardless of server by guesting for events, missions, dungeons, and pvp. The cross server guilds become even less of an issue with the new roll out of megaservers. I do however respect your desire to join a guild specifically on NS.
I hope you are able to find what you are looking for.
Wogger
AW MAN! I totally forgot about the megaserver! you’re right, once the megaserver is 100% implemented, there’s no need for guesting or having to find the guild on your server. Thank you for pointing that out to me and I will edit my post accordingly.
Hello! Im coming back to guild wars after a long break, and im looking to make some new friends. I can only solo so much content XD But regardless, this server can feel a bit barren at times haha! So yes im looking for a guild obviously, this is what im looking for…
- a guild filled with awesome people!
- Nothing Hardcore, i don’t like being pressured into spending more time and money to “gear” up, This isn’t my job.
- A legendary weapon program? Where we can all help each other reach our legendary weapons? not required however.
- A guild that focuses on having fun!
- A guild that likes doing a little bit of everything, PVE, PVP, WVW
What i don’t want, is to be told how often i need to login. I also work mostly nights and weekends, so if you hold guild events during the day too, that’s a +1. However i do have day offs during the weekday, but that changes per week.
Also Note, as someone pointed out to me, with the coming of the megaserver, Cross server guilds are fine by me, and if i like the guild enough in the future, perhaps i’ll transfer for some WvW action!
Looking forward to hearing from some of you

Greetings!
Im Kalaster.9014, playing on Tarnished Coast
I am currently in search of a new guild after my last one got a bit large and tedious (I.E. a 2 hour meeting about respecting other player’s feelings…)
This game isn’t my job, i dont spend HOURS grinding dungeons and pvp (though i do want to work towards my legendary) I play to have fun while socializing, i like helping players, doing the occasional world bosses, whatever floats my boat in that point in time.
The reason Im looking towards smaller guilds is because i hate the feeling like im talking over a crowd and also i can never remember who is in the guild. So when joining a new large guild, asides from the first “Welcome kalaster!!”, you’re just another ant in the colony.
I look forward to playing with you all
If the game is so great why are you bored and trying other games OP?
Dont get me wrong, its great! But you know, you can only play a single game straight for so long, no matter how amazing and perfect it may be. I mean, I’ve tried a few other MMO’s since the launch but always keep coming back here :P and with the f2p model, I feel less locked to the game, and i am able to try other MMO’s without feeling the “im not getting my subscription’s worth”.
I would say, stick with the class you like the most. and if you cant decide, lvl your Gaurdian first to 80, that way your at lvl 80 sooner, so when your bored and got nothing to do, have some fun and lvl your elementalist
I honnestly dont wish for their return, if your going to fight for something, there will be consequences and sacrafices along the way. And that people, is what really hit me hard and is the only time i ever felt that way in a MMO.
Pretty sure PlanetSide2 is doing fabulously.
The best part of GW2 is the dodge mechanic. I can’t play any other MMO that doesn’t let me dodge or evade attacks coming at me — and I’m not talking about using LoS like in WoW. I wish every game got rid of “hit chance”, and just let you either dodge it or not.
If you like it that much, you should give TERA a try. They just went Free2Play.
It’s actually an action MMO (unlike GW2 which just added Dodge), where you can dodge everything once you’re good enough at it. All attacks are skill-shots and hitboxes are more relevant in combat.
I Tried TERA as well, combat was cool. But again going back to how you have to read quest logs, i lost my patients XD
You lost them ALL??…you, sir, are a TERRIBLE doctor >:(
Im sorry! I failed Med school, but i wasn’t going to let grade numbers judge my ability to be a doctor!
Im also a terrible speller if you didnt notice already :P
Very interesting! Im glad im not the only one feel all this, but also glad some of you find ways to enjoy the older more standard MMO’s.
Guild wars 2, to me, is pure fun. I have the most fun when i have no objectives for the day, i dont have to worry about not reaching lvl 80 faster. It’s fun to go explore and find caves that serve no purpose other than to immerse yourself. It’s fun to go chop some trees down and explore your main city. Its just, i dont know, fun!
Back when mist of pandaria for WoW came out, my friend told me how much WoW was going to change for the better and all that stuff. So i forked over $70 for the expansion and 2 month card. After logging in and doing a few quests in pandaria, i was like ugggghhhh, i had basically clocked into my second job. after a few lvls, logged out and into GW2. AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH, =D i was on vacation!
why is it that almost all p2p games skip out on free trials? It seems silly to have to wait until your player base dies or not have any trial at all! I wana get my friend playing too, but he seems skeptic about it. And forget about loaning your password out, you’ll either get locked out or banned =/
Agree with the OP strongly. I can’t log in to FFXI anymore after 8 years of play, because all I can see is the old fashioned gameplay. After GW2 I just can’t stand it – the gameplay is much too restrictive.
wow! that game is still online? and how did you get yourself to play that long? i bought it 5 years back, but could never get into it because i had no idea what i was suppose to be doing XD
I Tried TERA as well, combat was cool. But again going back to how you have to read quest logs, i lost my patients XD
Well, it’s F2P, so you don’t really need patience to like it.
I plan to play it every now and then by hunting down a BAM (Big A— Monster) to pummel. It’s good stress-relief, like kiting around a punching bag.
fair enough! I will admit i didn’t it much of a shot. I never completed the tutorial. Maybe i’ll try it again now that you mentioned BAM :P

I’ve been playing since August 25, 2012, and to this day I am still amazed every time I log in. I’m posting this thread because I’m tired of seeing all the threads complaining about this or that. Sure, the game isn’t perfect, but what game is?
I’ll never understand those complaining about lack of “end-game” content. You can do whatever you want! And there seems to be practically an unlimited amount of things to do. Also, if you don’t like the gear grind, then don’t do it! I’ve hardly even set foot in fractals, yet I still find ways to enjoy this game. You don’t need the best gear to have fun. If you play the game with this mindset, you may find that your experience completely transforms. Just play the game for fun.
I love the way you think! And im glad you are having fun! =) I think the reason i dont hop on my lvl 80 ranger too often, is because i cant decide what to do, too many choices! But mostly it’s because i dont have any IRL friends playing this, they’re either too busy with jobs/ GF’s, or too addicted to Halo 4. I do have one friend who is semi interested, but he said he would rather wait for TESO And so im stuck trying to find a guildy who isnt obsessed with gear grinding.

Let me start by stating, I am by no means bashing GW2, haha, faaaaaaar from it! In fact, GW2 has given me almost everything i look for in MMO’s. Fun leveling, awesome armor sets, skinning your armor, voice acting, beautiful graphics, no more repetitive quests, epic WvWvW, crafting exp, and the nostalgic feeling of exploring.
But what my title states, is that i can no longer play any MMO that follows the gruesome quest log, collecting quests, and so on! I’ve been raised to believe all of that is standard and the only way to enjoy MMO’s. But Guild Wars has changed my outlook on online gaming. I know some of you may not fully agree with what i am going say, but Guild Wars 2 has revolutionized MMO gaming, for me at least.
Like today, i was bored, and decided to revisit Aion seeing as it went f2p. Not even 30 seconds in, i gave up because i could not stand reading through the quest logs, knowing i had to kill 6 wolves, and find like 10 chicken eggs. >.<
anyone else experiencing this as well? Anyone else try Visiting/ revisting other MMO’s and just couldn’t stand it?
Crafting, I think we can all agree that it’s very time consuming if you wish to farm the mats and not have to pay money for gold for mats. But however, let me play devil’s advocate for a second. This is a f2p game, so how does Anet make money without subscription? Cash shop, Gems, and converting gems into gold. So, for instance, if crafting required less mats, then there would be no motive to go buy gems for gold. instead, not a single person (atleast not as many as there are now) would buy gems for the mats needed, thus Anet would not be making the money needed to keep this game running, to bring out new content, and pay their staff. However, i do think some tweaking needs to be made, either lessen the amount of mats needed to craft by a little, or up the drop/ salvage rate by maybe 20%.
I disagree with this, when crafting to make basic exotic armor and weapons, we should not have to resort to buying gold or grinding to get the mats needed for them, and indeed this is what anet originally promised. If we want special items sure.
well, i never said i agreed with how they’re doing it, that’s more of what Anet is probably thinking and i understand why, but its unbalanced to us players, Mat farming in this game is too much (for me atleast) i dont have enough time in the day to even come close to farm and craft my exotics. so i spent a few bucks, and got them. Im having too much fun in this game, i cant afford to ruin it by mining veins and salvaging equipment and chopping trees. That’s what killed WoW for me.
I agree in some points, and others i disagree.
In roles, meh, easy to argue that its unexplained. But, it’s easy to decide what you want to do as with any MMO. Once you decide, google a build of your preference, and you have your defined role.
Dynamic events, I whole heartily agree. the last 2 zones 70-75 and 75-80, were down right dreadful, considering they booted out the heart events in favor of dynamic events. When i first arrived there, i thought it was a cool concept. Treating the entire zone as it’s one big battle field against the risen and advancing in land. But the concept falls flat on it’s face when the zone is barren and you have no RL friends to play it with you and not enough people in your guild to help out. You will find yourself constantly dying and running miles back because all the waypoints are contested with no one to free them up. They need to rethink those zones, or find a method to bring people back to them. I gave up, spent $10 for gold, bought mats and crafted my way from 72 to 80.
area flow, sort of. i mean, if you want to complete all the starter zones to get to 30, thats up to the player, i tend to move on to a more challenging zone. However, your next destination is problematic. the story does take you around alot for one or two story quests and then moves on to a completely new zone and having to travel through to find it, making leveling inconsistent with the story missions.

The story… yea, i feel a bit underwhelmed when it comes to immersing myself into the story, i don’t feel like i did much of anything most of the time. i feel the NPCs are given credit that i deserved. Some characters are lacking yes, cough cough Trahearne cough cough. But some are very likable, such as a certain character who i actually got attached to and when that character died, i felt sad and alone (wont say any names due to spoilers) as far as acting goes, I felt it was good in most places, but as with all games, you will come across some poorly acted dialogue cough cough Trahearne cough cough
still one hell of a game! and Hope Anet will improve on these flaws in future updates.
Honestly dude, this is an MMO, idk what other games you’ve played, but playing a MMO is not all about being the best player on the server or the entire game. You also can never beat a MMO, it is meant to be played for as long as the devolpers can hold your attention with new content.
OR! dive into the sPVP! everyone is the same gear set and lvl! No way you can “buy power” if everyone is bumped to max stats. That’s when the pure skill comes into play. Get up to the max rank, or put together a team to do tournaments.
My guess is, you don’t play alot of MMO’s, so if you don’t mind me saying, you would probably be better off in single player RPG’s or Halo/CoD, those games allow you to “be the best player” as far as ranking’s and scoreboards.
And as far as returning the game, you’re out of luck im afraid. sure you may be willing to forfeit the account, but the store will assume you will change everything in the account information.
