The thing that bugs me about this game...

…is that it has such great ideas and amazing foundations with the combat mechanics, yet there is so little to do that everyone has quit.

I’ve not logged onto guild wars in over 2 weeks, mainly because the class I chosen, Elementalist, is completely broken unless you spec tank which isn’t fun, and also because there simply wasn’t any pvp content to keep you satisfyied.

I told my guild I was taking a break until the they bring out the first major balance patch and new content, so was eagerly waiting this pvp blog. I have to say I’ve never really been so disappointed by something, so anti-climactic. Nearly 3 weeks and all we’ve learnt from this epic blog is that we’re getting paid tournaments and custom games (something the community have known for many months now). There isn’t even a time frame on these releases and given the time it took to release this blog, I don’t hold out much hope for it soon.

The game NEEDS rating, skill level, rankings, whatever you want to call it, it NEEDS it. This cannot be a hard thing to implement. I could create an algorithm in 10minutes to provide a good rating system.

Ah well, all my friends have returned to wow and so far I have managed to restrain myself from re-subscribing. Its such a shame though cause Guild wars had got so much right, they just lacked a few simple things to really catapult it fowards…

When people refer to PvE, or at least myself, they often mean end game content.

Then considering the entirety of the game is meant to be the endgame content, I’ll repeat my questions. How many dynamic events did you finish? How many renown hearts did you fill? How about skill challenges? How many dungeons have you run recently?

If you don’t have your 100% map completion and at least one set of epic dungeon armor, you’re in no position to say anything about the amount of PvE content in this game.

Your either trolling or completely mis-interpting what i’m saying. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt.

I am commenting on the Player vs Player lack of content for a Player vs Player focused game. I never bought this game for the leveling or dungeons, if I wanted PvE I would re-subscribe to WoW.

And for the record I do have 48% map completion

They don’t really have any PvE content so there won’t be many players who bought this for that.

What is this I don’t even

Tell me, how many dynamic events did you finish in your 4 small PvP maps and two WvW maps? How many renown hearts did you fill? How about skill challenges? Was in more than I did in the game’s 30 or so massive PvE maps? How many PvP dungeons have you run recently?

“They don’t really have any PvE content”. Most hilarious thing I’ve seen posted here all week.

When people refer to PvE, or at least myself, they often mean end game content. Most MMo’s survive and thrive on their end game PvE content and thats why many users buy the game. I was attracted to Guild wars 2 because the ethos was around PvP focus with a little bit of PvE on the side.

My statement is merely saying that I don’t belive many people would buy this game for the dungeons at end game. If its the leveling process they like then its more like an RPG.

Anyway we are going offtrack. I will rephrase my initial statement;

For anyone that bought this game for the PvP (Not WvW) content, will already be getting pretty bored with the lack options available in the Hearts of the mist.

I’m not exactly asking for them to redesign the entire game, implementing such a rating system or different tournaments has to be one of the easier things to do and wouldn’t require a major content patch.

If I didn’t make it clear in my original post, I got this game purely for the PvP side. They don’t really have any PvE content so there won’t be many players who bought this for that. Also I am only level 59 but bored of leveling and don’t see much incentive because I only intend to play PvP.

Its the PvP i’m focusing on, it gets really mundane really quickly. They have spent so much time developing a flawless fun combat system with unique classes but have offered so little in terms of actual arena’s and formats in which to compete in.

The foundations of this game are great, but once you’ve level’d your charachter and played some PvP, there isn’t alot to do playing alone. My friends are simply logging on, and logging off when they don’t see anyone online, then when I come on I do the same. Its currently only fun in groups. Also even in groups you are rather limited to only free tournaments.

Now I know they are intending to bring out new PvP content but I fear the longer they wait the more it will hurt the game. Most of the players I know are already playing about 10% of what they where at the start.

We need an individual Rating system similar to that of HoN. Something to quantify personal ability to keep the PvP’ers happy and with a goal to work towards.

I’m a firm believer that any game that wants to be both competetive and maintain a high player base HAS to have this implemented. Look at all the good RTS, MOBA’s etc.

Guild wars 2 is a fantastic game with all the foundations in place, but when it comes to things to keep you playing there isn’t alot right now. Free tournaments get dull after you win a few and sPvP is too chaotic to play en mass.

ANet need to implement a system where you join up to a 5v5 game and your rating goes up or down depending on how the game goes. Similar to that of HoN for example.

I know from personal experience that my friends love this game but don’t have alot to do when they’re online alone. WvW is only fun in groups of friends and same with Tournaments. So they don’t stay online long. Then when I log on they are not on so I log off. And its a vicious cycle. You don’t have these problems with games like LoL, HoN, SC2 etc, because there is huge incentive to improve ones play when you can see your rating going up. Something to be proud about. Then when its prime time and we’re all on together we can team up for WvW or tournaments.

On a lesser note, something needs to be done about the WvW idles. I don’t think the conventional AFK check is enough. Maybe something along the lines of, if they are inactive for more than 50% of the time during a 10minute period, they get a warning message to get involved or at least move around. After a further 10minutes if the situation doesn’t change they are kicked. People are just afking in there and moving odd keys every few minutes to avoid the afk checker and its really hurting our servers chances.

In the last week I keep having to authorization my login via email before I can load up Guild Wars 2. Even when I dc and connect 5minutes later. Whereas I do really like this service and would never want to disable it, there must be a slight bug because I have never ever logged onto Guild Wars 2 through ANY other computer so my location has always been exactly the same.

For the first week this was not a problem, its only the last 4-5 days that it has started asking me to prove its me.

Any advice or fix on this would be nice as it is slightly irritating

The problem of the elementalist:

I’ve just completely given up with the Elementalist. I love the playstyle but the only way I can compete is playing full healer/support in tournaments which gets really boring really quickly. Taking a break from guild wars 2 until they patch us
