Went back to 306.97 which was what I was using before I upgraded and the issue is gone.
Diessa Plateau. Tons of dead NPCs everywhere. The heart right north of the entrance to the zone from the Black Citadel (Ruins of Old Gate) has dead NPCs. Nageling when the Giant event is up has tons of bodies. The area around Grendich Ruins also has quite a few bodies.
I started experiencing this problem after updating my NVIDIA drivers to 310.90. Might have something to do with it. Never had a problem with shimmering or flickering graphics before that with a different driver version.
I first noticed this usually on attackable objects like barrels and some parts of the norn small house/lodge structures in Lornar’s Pass. I also have random flickering when objects are being drawn.
When they meant getting people out in the world, they meant making them find the highest cliffs in every area and diving to their deaths for laurels.
I just go to the bloodfields near nebo terrace and revive the dead npcs there. There was barely anyone there the first time I went, but the second time I went there were a ton of people there.
The material loss may be small but in principle it was badly executed. Having a “new” daily that resets in 3 hours when there was already a “daily” for that day is just weird. This was made worse when people had their dailies reset when they were almost done with the combo killer part of it. (Yes it was their fault for not watching the clock, but it was semi-bugged in the first place.)
Once again, the lack of communication ruins everything. There was already an “old” daily for that day, but once the patch went in they activated a new “daily” on the same day with 3 hours before a reset. Not only did they not say that this was going to happen in the patch notes or anywhere else, I feel bad for people with non-awesome internet connections because the download was at least 1gb and having to rush to finish a daily before the reset is not cool.
Same thing happened to my server, on the attempt I was there about 20 of us ran in and barely anyone got close to the priest before the entire floor was covered with red circles and promptly wiped (not downed, but instant 1 shot defeated) in about 10 seconds. Most of us didn’t even get to do anything. Was kind of a “What just happened?” moment.
Might have to do with the scaling for more players they put in.
After wandering around Diessa Plateau for a while and asking about it in map chat, a player pointed out to me that the “world event” icon is there, but the text seems to be blacked out.
I tried the Black Citadel, Lion’s Arch, but the text is still hidden.
Maybe it’s not "activated’ yet?
According to a dev post, the empty star graphic/thing has nothing to do with the world event, it has to do with the week long paid PvP tournament thing.

If something like this is implemented, there would have to be some sort of griefing protection as people could just down rate people on purpose for something unrelated to the use you are mentioning.
I remember in other games when we had server reputations (was a long time ago, it’s so easy to be anonymous nowadays due to the structure of the current games and stuff like dungeon finder, paid name change, paid server transfers) where everyone knew everyone else and if you were uncooperative everyone eventually knew about it and you would be blacklisted from even joining any guilds let alone doing any content.
I wonder what happens to liquid karma bottles. Will there be a possibility to get those still or are they replaced by these new tokens?
Colin said in a post that you will still get the current daily/monthly rewards, (like the karma jug) the laurels will just be something on top of it to make it more “rewarding.”

I have 5 characters at the moment, one of each race. Just going through each of the racial destiny’s edge mentor stories. Every time I play through another race’s story I pick up on little things that tie the story together.
I just recently finished my 3rd character up to the “picking of an order” part and have a character in each order right now.
I did each of the starting zones as the race it was designed in mind for, except for the 2nd charr area which I’m going to do next.
As a GW1 veteran, it’s pretty cool and sometimes not so cool to see former GW1 locations in ruins and the aftermath of some of the things that happened in GW1. Especially some of the hidden stuff or references to things only a GW1 player would understand, like certain NPCs. Just makes the experience that much better.
It would be cool if you got XP bonuses based on your current number of level 80 characters. Even just 5% each would be great.
I just thought of the same thing the other day. Maybe a better bonus once you have at least one character with 100% map completion?
I have a Norn Warrior, Human Guardian, Asura Engineer, Charr Hunter, and Sylvari Thief. Pretty much to experience their areas as the actual race and each race’s personal story.
Shame that Asura/Sylvari end up spilling into other zones after their 1 starter zone and shared secondary zone. (Metrica Province/Caledon Forest -> Brisban Wildlands and then to human zones)
Haven’t done the Charr zones except the starting zone but I think there is a gap in there too where you have to travel to a different race zone or grind DE’s.
I pretty much went back and forth due to renown hearts not giving enough experience and DE’s not spawning enough due to lack of players in the middle zones which led to being unable to clear the level bracket to go to the next area. I would do the zones first on the actual race before doing them again for experience on a different race.

Personally I would take the time to read all the traits bonuses especially the ones that go into slots and find something that suits your play style.
I found Warrior to be the easiest to play out of the 5 classes I’ve played so far.
It’s only 41 but I found a ridiculous solo build (compared to other classes) just spending the time to read all the traits and what they do.
I’m currently 11/20/0/0/0
Strength 10pt: Berserker’s Power [Increased damage based on adrenal bar]
Arms 10pt: Deep Strike [+40 precision for each unused signet equipped]
20pt: Forceful Greatsword [Gain might boon on crit]
I have Healing Signet, Signet of Might, Signet of Fury, Dolyak Signet, Signet of Rage[E]
This build gives me about 78% crit chance (858 precision [320+487]), coupled with the passive healing of healing signet and might boon on crit, great sword 100blades pretty much shreds through normal mobs in seconds, even ones 3 levels higher than me.
Due to the static bonus of +40 precision/unused signet it probably won’t work very well or at all at higher levels but at 41-ish it works pretty well for me.
