Its NOT normal that this is happening. You should ask around if someone you know has a working laptop charger and try that one. If it charges normally than you should simply buy a new charger. If that is not the case you should send your laptop for repair or you can fix it yourself.

Lol. Its definitely not lag. I’ve had this issue too. Only with my integrated touchpad of my laptop. Since I almost always use an external mouse which just works fine I never submitted a ticket.

My keyboard works fine though.

That last update (believe it or not) actually fixed it for me.

I think this is just because all instances was reset on the update. But when a new map instance is created you could get the problem again. I cannot confirm this, not tested enough after update.

Just in case, I am playing WvW only until I see no one is reporting this anymore. I don’t want my main stuck, so I fear to travel to the next living story step.

I have tested all maps and all dungeons and some fractals. Also wvw and spvp. So far havent gotten the error even once. =]

Something like this is a better bang for your buck. I have this laptop with an I5 and dual graphics cards and it whoops up on GW2 with no problem.

And he wants to use it for school, so a SLI is not an option as it will drain his battery very fast. Unless they have the optimus tech in them. Also, SLI is not optimized in a lot of games.

Can you answer these questions for me?

*did you upgrade a single item in your PC or did you buy it as a whole?
*What is the power supply of your psu?
*What is the idle temperature of your PC? ( Also what do you mean by computer is xxC? your GPU or CPU?)
*What temp. monitor do you use?
*What fan do you use? Stock or third party. IF third party, could you link it to me? name is also sufficient

You probably have a 60Hz monitor so your monitor can not even display more than 60 fps.

Eventually I ended up buying Acer Aspire V3-772G as all the hardware were superior and the price was “only” 999€. I’m still concerned about the heat and as previous owner of a laptop which started to produce burnt plastic smell, I do know the precautions. :P

Oh, no. The Acer V3 772g has a GT ( NO X) 750 card. and a weaker processor. That other laptop was better by a longshot.

Dont forget to get a cooler pad for your laptop too, laptops do work on higher temperatures than desktops and when you play in zergs for example you can easily overheat your computer. Also i think its better to remove the battery while you play, because if the battery is fully charged and the power is still plugged it generates more heat on the laptop.

Also, do you keep it plugged in a power connector? I play this game on ultra mostly 40-50 fps in crowded areas like lions arch but 70-80 fps in dungeons. But when I unplug my laptop it caps the framerate to 30.

If you have the AMD switching graphics API installed correctly, when you right click on your desktop you should see ‘AMD Catalyst Control Center’ and ‘AMD Switching Graphics’ under that (or whatever its called ATM)
You need to choose the open below CCC, on that sub menu.

Form there you can tell the system what GPU to use for what application, or if you are running a generic driver setup (or modded) you simply get to choose High performance GPU or Power Saving GPU.

High Performance is the AMD GPU
Power Saving is the Intel HD GPU.

I dont know if you can get more. Because gw2 is more of a cpu user than a gpu user. And your processor is a dual core one. The reason why it says it has quad core processors is because of hyperthreading. Im not gonna go deep into what hyperthreading is but in short it sort of makes your PC think you have more cores. For example my system thinks I have an 8 core processor even though I have a 4 core.

Im not sure if this is the problem, someone that knows more about PC’s should confirm this or tell me its complete bullkitten.

Edit: do you keep your laptop plugged in a power connector? When you play.

Can you do this for me:

right click on your gw2 shortcut. Note: the shortcut has to be on your desktop, not the new windows 8 metro ui. Blame microsoft for that.

Then hover over “run with graphics processor” If it says “integrated processor (default)” change the default to the AMD r9 m275.

Edit: If you dont have it on your desktop you can also go to your application drawer, right click GW2 and click on “open file location” then youll have your gw2 shortcut.

Oh btw. I dont know if this helps, but I seem to have this error only on a couple maps. Fireheart rise, and caledon forest.

None of my characters that are located in fire heart rise can log in. But I logged in on my guardian located in heart of the mists, traveled to LA and then fireheart rise. But fireheart rise gave the exact same error as my other characters. Tried it again with my engineer, loaded up queensdale, went to fireheart rise, same error.

Bonobo, dont listen to these people. Theyre laptop haters. I have a gtx 860m and I get 30-40 fps on ultra in wvw battles. That asus youre going to buy shouldnt much worse than mine.

Oh and my laptop was 1050 euro’s.

The selfless and the toughtless potions now are only usable in open world type of maps. So, the only place where you can “show” them off is in open world, not in dungeons, fractals or PvP. This is a huge problem imo, because now I mindlessly farmed (what also is too much “grinding”) for an item I almost never can use. I was really psyched for that potion.

But, my personal story aside, will this potion ever be made available for instances, by maybe using a different code? The watchwork tonic code for example.

If there is an official response already, then I apologize. I have tried finding one but couldnt.

I have an i5 2300 2.8ghz cpu and an ati radeon HD 5450 and running on 20 fps with low/medium settings. Oh and I have 4gigs of RAM

Now I want to upgrade my graphics card, probably to gtx geforce 650. Will it be able to handle gw2 on medium/high with a decent fps or am I expecting too much since my cpu is not all that.

Confusion is the most broken thing in WvW now that culling and stealth have been addressed. Damage on skill use is a just a bad mechanic in general, but it make no sense for it to do as much damage as it does.

The best solution imo, is to change it so that it stacks duration instead of intensity and boost the damage a bit to compensate. The reason this is the best solution is because otherwise mass confusion stacking using mesmer spam and epidemic becomes absurdly powerful in big fights. Losing 5-10k hp on 1 skill use simply should not be possible.

The easiest and most likely solution is simply to make WvW confusion damage match sPvP damage.

To get that much damage per skill you will need like 13 to 25 stacks of confusion. A glamour mesmer can not, I will repeat a mesmer can not give you that much confusion stacks.

Elementalist is not OP, and hopefully will not be nerfed. I dont mind fighting Eles, I like it. I like to fight classes that make me work for a kill. I like it that some classes are harder to kill than others. I like a challenge. Without any challenge this game would be boring. Fighting an ele would be teh same as fighting every other class. So that means that there will be a single build to rule them all.

I wouldnt mind if they buffed warriors, engi builds, other ele builds, rangers shortbow and longbow, necros and thieves. That will make it more fun to fight them, since all I see is the same old build I see everyday and I learned how to counter it.

Yes, everyone knows about attunements, except you apparently. When traited properly, Water becomes the supreme heal/condition removal (With some extra cleanse off of skills), Earth becomes protection/Condition/CC, Air becomes Crit damage/CC, and Fire becomes power/might/condition.

Exactly. When you trait for it and use the right sigils, armor etc. That way you will lose your damage and be almost unkillable. That sounds kinda familiar… oh wait, every single bunker/healer build is like this!
Have you ever seen a mesmer using his mantras to heal? I have. He heals his team faster than an ele can BUT the mesmer loses all of his damage.
A shout warrior can heal even more than that, but loses all of his damage.
An ele can heal alot in bursts, but loses alot of his damage.

Leap immobilizes in an aoe around the clone, and you dont have to use immediately after you spawn it. Since the clone has a sword main hand it will keep trying to stay close to the ele and then you have to immobilize him.

Ehm no… 1vs1 with ele as mesmer, if he’s equally skilled, ends with a dead mesmer 90% of the times, once you shattered you have pretty much no dmg to send out (And it’s really easy to evade a shatter if you know just a little how shatter combo works, so pretty much everyone who plays at a decent level) and when it comes to healing and cond removal ele is just 10 times better than mesmers, if you’re a mesmer and you see an ele coming at side for 1vs1 all you have to do is call for backup while hoping that he’s worse than you..not mentioning that if you manage to fight him somehow (And problay your point would be already neutral cause you can’t keep it with someone spamming aoes all over the point) he can just rtl away and come back full hp while you have your healing still on cd and your point still neutral, and when backup finally arrives he can just rtl away going outnumber your team somewhere else in seconds…pretty lame uh?

Who says that every mesmer plays a shatter spec? I can blink an equal range as the ele uses RTL, ill be at his destination before the ele even arrives there. And all I have to do ( if im playing a shatter spec) is leap at him and immobilize him, and no I dont use it on the most predictable times, I send out my clone to cripple him wait for him to dodge maybe even spawn an iDuelist in the meantime and then leap at him and immobilize him, blurry and shatter while he is immobilized. If the ele uses mist form then ill just wait with the shatters a couple seconds and then shatter them, and since the clones are really close to the ele they will shatter immediately so you really cant see them coming. A good mesmer keeps his clones close to the enemy, not far away. Mesmer is a close combat fighter.

Oh, and I play a retaliation/confusion/tank mesmer. Imagine using your AOE on 3 clones and the mesmer with full time retaliation and chaos armor giving you confusion with almost every hit on EACH clone and mesmer. So your water dagger#2 will be a waste since it will do more damage than heal, #5 means nothing since you will just get the conditions once more if you use an AOE attack, cleansing flames same story. Even an ele has limited healing and condition removal.

Oh, and your armor and protection wont reduce condition damage. =]

I will still write down what it does: Chaos armor only gives you protection on trigger and not when hit, and confusion has the highest chance to trigger when hit.

Eles have lots of AOE so imagine hitting 3 clones and 1 player with chaos armor and retaliation, just imagine what that will do to an ele thats spamming his skills.

Sadly your build is not viable in a competitive environement like tournaments. Though you specced everthing for a 1v1, which this game is not based around. I doubt you even duel with portal and illusion of life.

I main a mesmer and I dont find Eles OP. Mist form? I can press on F4 and have 4 seconds of invulnerability AND I can still attack and use skills and such. After that, blurred frenzy, an extra 2 seconds of invuln while dealing damage.

Ride the lightning? I can use my blink at 1200 range.. Just as far as ride the lightning.. thieves shortbow #5, rangers GS#3, warriors GS#3 and 5 and so on.

Healing power, you specced for it so you should heal alot. Complaining about that is like saying GC builds shouldnt be able to do alot of burst damage. They specced for it, so deal with the eles healing power.

Too much DPS? lol nah. I hit way much more than the ele you describe. If people dont know how to dodge certain attacks ofcourse they will shout that you do too much damage…

I have fought many Eles 1v1, and I have lost and won from them. Some were just better players than me and some were worse and lost to me.

All in all, Eles are NOT OP. If something is OP then its the QQpower of all the noobs that dont know how to counter other classes.

First of all, thieves are not overpowered. They can be easily countered and since youre new to sPVP you cant know every possible way to counter them.

I guess that youre using a phantasm build? If so, when you see them coming just spawn your phantasms and keep dodging like a madman, when he stealths and you know where he is just blast him away with #5GS. Your phantasms will do all the damaga for you so you dont need to worry about that hence why you can just dodge and run the whole time.
If a thief stuns you with basilisk venom for example, use a stun break like decoy, or mirror images and F4. It will ruin his whole combo and just spawn your phantasms again.

I play a shatter build mostly and since alot of thieves are very squishy I can kill them rather easy.

Mesmer portals caps at 20 I think? Havent used portal in a while so I forgot =[

That is because of ethereal fields are not only comboed by mesmers you know?
(rethorical question most of you knows perfectly how to use that field in www, not to mention what necro can do….).

So basically you either have a daze lasting 10 seconds (or a moa morph?) or a huge dmg condition…..

WWW is not 1VS1……in 1VS1 i could maybe deal with it….
in zergs people cannot……unless they stop to cleanse and get roflstomped by opposing zerg….maybe with chaos armor and stuff.

Will confusion be nerfed? i think when they will look at damage logs they will for sure change something….

Did you read they are splitting PvE and WWW so it will possibly left untouched in PvE!

Did you ever play a mesmer? confusion mesmers are useless in like 90% of PVE. Also, when you see a condition above your utility bar and it is confusion, what do you do? Attack some more, or wait a couple seconds and retreat? You probably want to mindlessly attack some more just by mashing your buttons and then you die.

first of all. I really love to play GW2 and I also love my Ubuntu desktop. I know that I can dual boot windows and play it on there, I am doing that atm but.. I want to play it on my ubuntu desktop so that I wont have to dual boot everytime I want to play.

I know about wine and playonlinux. I found tutorials of how to install gw2 in a windows environment. Those tutorials all were more then a half year old and it was so laggy back then.. like 10 fps at max.

Now I am curious. Has anyone found a way to play it on Ubuntu with a higher fps? 20/30 is fine. If I could use everything of my system then that would be even better.

I never said I evaded backwards. There is your mistake. You think that you know every possible tactic ever in the game. So I guess that you also never lost a 1v1 fight. It sounds like youre stating that you can hit every single attack on whoever is playing.

I was never talking about CC, and I dont count them in, neither do I count null field or well of corruption in since you have to try your best to misplace those skills. My only problem with you is that youre stating that you can hit every single auto attack on a stealthed thief. With no immobilized no cripples etc..

Note that every hit in the chain needs half a second to hit. So the third hit that removes the boon hits after 1.5 seconds youre telling me now that you cant get away in 1.5 seconds with a thief?

This isn’t about how long it takes for me to get away as a thief (Especially since I don’t use stealth to get away, since it’s atrocious for actually escaping decent players, whom are the only people I need to get away from)

It’s about how easy it is for people to continue hitting onto stealthed targets that have stealthed for whatever reasons (Either to do damage, escape or to wait for healing just outside of range)

I can consistently hit with Dagger auto-attacks on thieves with my Necro and Thief (Takes 2 seconds to complete a full chain)

I can consistently hit with GS and Axe auto-attacks on my Warrior, Sword auto-attacks on my Mesmer and Guardian.

I can consistently hit with Dagger auto-attacks on my Elementalist (Some attunements are easier than others)

Edit: I also play a thief sometimes in spvp. For the reasons that I know what their mechanics are. You however didnt play mesmer or maybe you did but you dont know anything about them.

Perhaps you haven’t played Thief enough to know the most predictable routes that are used by thieves when they stealth.

• If they stealth to do damage, they’ll make a bee-line to your back
• If they stealth to run away, they’ll run directly away from you
• If they stealth to wait for healing, they’ll dodge back and wait a few feet away from you.

These are the most predictable ways a Thief moves in stealth, why do they do this? Because stealth has a very short duration making less predictable movements riskier since if stealth wears off before you’ve had chance to do what you wanted then you’ve lost out on a big advantage.

Lol, you really think that Im a bad player? I know how to deal with thieves. Its easy. I can hit them too with my chain, all 3 of them. But what about good thieves? Ive seen many thieves that were harder to kill than most of them due to them knowing when to dodge etc. Now look at this, Im a thief and youre a mesmer. I stealth and I know that you will auto attack me to remove my stealth boon, what will I do? Let you remove it, or just press V and dodge it? When I play a thief and I fight a warrior or a close combat class, I always dodge right after CnD when that person is on rage auto attack mode. Like I said, its more or less the thieves choice to get hit by melee.
