The points exist specifically as a way to offer so-called horizontal progression. Extra points exist so that no one feels pressured to do every unlock, that people have the freedom to choose to do certain points or not.
If you can explain how ANet can indulge your preference to have a zero balance of mastery points and maintain the goals above, I’m sure they’d love to hear about it. So far, I haven’t seen anything in this thread that does.
People keep repeating the same argumeny:

Again, we’re not arguing this, and the last thing I want is for a lack of freedom.
The entire discussion is about, what to do with the extra points after everything’s been unlocked.
I, individually, am just a bit annoyed at seeing all these points in my wallet without anything to use them on, hence, a secondary purpose that is in no way a considerable obligation isnt asking for much.
Im thinking of.. a bag of rare gear, or a VI crafting bag, something like that.
Casuals will have their excess points, and therefore, their freedom, while adventurers have a little extra reward.
As for your point, “don’t look at them”, well, I’d have no objection to anet zero’ing the counter and removing the visibility of mastery points on achievements once everything’s been maxed. Its kind of like.. what if Mordrem Blooms still dropped but there was no vendor, you see them pile up in your wallet never able to do anything with them.. wouldnt that raise your eyebrows?They’re not actually in your wallet though, are they? They’re not a currency so they aren’t shown in your wallet. They’re only shown on the Mastery tab. The same way that Hero Points aren’t in your wallet either. They’re shown on the Training tab.
But hero points ARE / HAVE been used for future content. aka, hot comes out use your HPs. I’m assuming that won’t change for PoF. But mastery points? A big slap in the face. Grats for doing them, but you don’t need them/can’t use them . They won’t have any purpose.
Or PERHAPS, extend the masteries to sub masteries … Little faster gliding, little longer stealth. LOL. But that’s a bit too ‘essential’ in some minds probably. And I think would be bad, but to do something with them would be nice.
If it helps, think of it like a bank account. You have extra money in there in case you need it for future needs (i.e. masteries). Just cause it’s there don’t mean you have to spend it.
Yeah, but that extra in the bank you can NEVER touch again… Imagine that money in the bank extra for emergency, and boom. Can’t touch it when it comes. They just rotting away having no purpose. I agree they should have a little use and think good idea. Just nothing like you say too essential.
So I think pugmander (dog tags – even this has its own fun twist) would have been more appropriate. Because lots of pugs, they command and you get the dog on top so they’re all dog tags under the 1 true pugmander. GG anet. I think it comes down to them being cat lovers.

LMAO – Legendary Armorer isn’t a freaking “raid achievement”. It’s an Explorer achievement. That fact would have be obvious to everyone if you hadn’t carefully cropped your image to avoid showing the left side of the achievement panel. Raids just happened to be the first way to acquire legendary armor. You’re not special in any way and doing raids won’t change that.
It is an explorer achievement but with a title related to the envoy armor set. Also it was probably added because people requested a way to show that they have 750 LI without posting all 3 armor sets in chat when joining raid groups. Letting the grind based WvW and pvp armors add to it would make it useless as a proof of raid experience.

I’m thankful it won’t progress achievement but can’t you guys make highest tier wvw and pvp legendary and keep ascended ascended ? Keep stat switch for those who want to be versatile in builds if they want to upgrade that. Legendaries are going to be just too common. Or is this another ploy to increase wvw and pvp considering it takes three gifts to do so?
This is a really amazing change but I think the raiders gonna be so mad at it.

It takes more effort to get this armor than the raid legendary armor so they haven’t got a leg to stand on.
Yes I am a bit upset. Not a hardcore raider but someone took 40 games of pvp to match year and some of hard work.

Yeah I re read and completely agree . Wvw SHOULD have their armorbe legendary (the new and latest that looks amazing. I believe pvp should as well . So each game play has a “legendary title” or prestige. THIS ONLY should be changed. Not every piece of ascended in game. This is where I think they flawed. Make highest tier wvw and pvp armor legendary stat swap that is your niche and game play you excel and can show it off.
That I think would make a high majority of all game play and players happy. Each gameplay has legendary armor and their show off purps.
I truly hope that there is a time gated barrier to this, as the people that have been raiding (and time gated by only having the ability to earn “x” amount of LI per week as well as the Provisioners Tokens) have been stuck behind that wall. All well and good for the other gametypes to get Legendary armor – just hope it is balanced in the way it has to be EARNED.
PvP and WvW players should have to play the whole game in the same way that the PvE’rs do in having to play PvP and WvW for portions of the requirement…enough with the reward track cheesing your way through everything
I much agree much with the cheesing through everything they complain , we complain, everyone has complaints and get that. But they can do one reward track boom skin unlocked for sixth episode… I have to do 36 achievements ! Which require coordination with others and world map timings if I want that skin… lot more investment but same item . Makes me sad . Being wvwers out of wvw to earn those items. Just like we have to go out of pve to earn our items (looking at you gift of battle)
As far as their time gate it is 3 reward tracks of gift of battle. And any wvwers knows that stays in there that is nothing. Them enjoying their “game” and no investment elsewhere boom . We have legendaries yaaaaay!
Anet this is a snub remark but… when will pvers get the chance at wvw legendary back piece without stepping into wvw ? Won’t happen . Meanwhile every new skin in episodes and active event (adventure box , Halloween, etc) can be found doing … wvw .. again a big cater . Don’t step into our event… keep doing those wvw reward tracks

To be fair, a lower skilled player could pretty easily buy a carry through raids too.
Yes but.. they need to do crystalline heart stuff that CANNOT just be bought and carried. They need weeks and weeks of LI to be bought. And if they are hindering their group too much they won’t last long in the group.
Wvw only again consumes… time. Very little money. Time wise to get – legendary. Effort and skill as far as doing things right – newbie level. (Join tag —> follow).
Though be lucky that the armor actually looks good and decent .

Anet i think it’s time to do another solid sweep of the broken stuff before sending out anything new. Please do this. Make sure your content is solid before making more sketchy content. Your game is awesome and love it, but it needs to be of great quality and fixed quickly. Or you will lose people like above.

Yeah. They need to start stabalizing the events. Bugging them all out. It’s easy to level sitting on 250 Tomes. But, I want to still do them at least. Not to mention legendary requirements are attached to them -_-
Depends on what map completion you did. If it is a home city then probably yes only a transmutation. But if it is a bigger map than you will probably get materials and other things. Depends on the maps
This is what I don’t get about anet. And yes I’m going to say it here too and apologize for off topic. Kodan’s Claw, same story different legendary.
Anet, if you keep this up your reliability is going to get even crappier than it already is. You are working on new zones, new legendary armor, and the fancies, yet you can’t even keep simple events working. Make it your yearly goal to make sure the previous events/game material is working before going into more or pretty soon you’re going to just have one glytchy, unplayable mmo. Like it was in the beginning.
I think you have been doing great to improve on glytches and the like and have loved your game since launch of Guild Wars 1. I was there and loved it, but it’s the little things that matter. Keep the game solid
The meta event is still stuck at they are preparing a tournament etc etc. Just remaking a topic because it shouldn’t be too hard to restart the event chain, etc.
Any very important meta chain (which are probably all) should have close watch. And be ready to be fixed at any time. Please anet. I know you guys are good at doing service help. But would really like to continue my legendary quest line… Thanks.
Pretty sure the armor says when you are about to click the stats that it is permanent. I didn’t catch the rest of it, but I too am hoping that it can be reversed. I mean why wouldn’t it be able to? It is ascended like all other pieces. Please change it <3
Thanks anet… Put a legendary requirement on a non-spawn event line. Almost makes me have the 5% hope go away. Been playing since GW1 and this kind of shenanigans gets me every time… Can you please shape it up a little bit :/

Basically it will take 8,971,500 total glory to reach a dragon. I have been able to ‘farm’ or get around 6-7k (because I do work and other things but for people who have all the time in the world can farm easily 15-20k) each day.
7 days a week x 7k a day = 42,000 a week
8,971,500 / 42k = 213.6 — So it would take about 214 weeks to get a dragon
You do the math on years….
People will eventually get it if that is their goal.
The reason why not many got it in GW1 was it took SOOO much more to get fame. Having to find an 8v8 group, go in and do a pre-round and then fight someone, if you lose, people rage and you have to find a new group, and you only get 1 fame and grows up to 40 upon consecutive win. So getting 100,000 points in HA was difficult. They were not short maps either.
*Sorry going off topic for a second:
The pvp was lot better in gw1, the variety of maps in HA were amazing. Different objectives (OTHER than 3 capping and zerg mid fight. HINT TO GW2 might want to implement some of that). made it a lot more fun. Having three teams was another thing they put in which was a lot of fun, because, not only were you fighting one team and oh this team is better than this one so it’s going to be faceroll we hold halls all day. But you would get 3 different teams in there and people were working to take down the top team for their own benefit and made for a great match.
So considering all of that it took years as well to get their dragon. It would take a lot longer to get 100,000 of having to find a group and all that, then farming all day long in which you KNOW you will get points. So this isn’t going to take as long, if you’re dedicated. If you do pve/pvp casually then yes it will take VERY long time.
I am currently 51 and I’m losing excitement in running around because tournaments are just a joke. Not fun because of the new spectator thing, something about that made it less fun (I think just finding a good server, because I only play the non-spectator ones).

Tournaments are just as bad in pvp in my opinion.
- - Anet you have a leaderboards that don’t mean much because you have so many variables out there. Maybe it was in the last patch notes didn’t get through everything, but is there even a formula?
- - You go in solo q and you get matched up a group of 5…. gg, barely worth playing, good luck getting stomped all day long.
—Note how to fix #2…. Ummm solo q vs solo q ; team q vs team q… not hard. If you have a group of 2-3 then that is your risk of going up against a group of 5. Just have your group of 2, be matched with another group of 3, and there you go. That will take a lot longer yes, BUT for these leaderboards to mean anything it would be worth me playing tournaments. - Solo q leaderboards, Team q leaderboards: You can’t mix apples and oranges, so make 2 leaderboards, yes formulas included.
This will either make tournaments more competitive in that a group of 5 is going up a group of 5… whereas now, it’s just crap in my opinion. A group of 5 against a group of 2 and 3 really low ranks, it’s just a mess. Clean it up, right now your leaderboards are a bad idea for determining anything.
As far as the custom arenas: They need more normal servers because right now, too many spectator modes around, I would rather not have spectators in my matches. I see maybe…. 2-3 servers without spectator.
Anet has a lot to do yet, I would hope sooner or later, forget all this new wvw and pve stuff, all these updates for that, whereas the spvp sector other than this last patch has just been kitten on.

PVP Knights amulet / Beserker Gem
The build isn’t meant for DPS, it allows you to do a bit of dmg while taking a lot of dmg. I will try to write more about the pros and cons of the build later. ^^
