A tidbit of info – With Scholar runes and Blood to Power minor trait, you will deal 15% more damage. With 32k hp, as long as you stay above 29k, you will get this extra damage…. and since we are mostly ranged, staying above 90% isn’t too terribly hard.

Staff is the primary weapon choice of this build. Axe and Focus are just personal choice… feel free to change them up. Sigils can be changed up as well. I liked Perception cause of the extra little crit but you could easily use Force for constant extra damge (+20% damage with scholar runes and Blood to Power trait).

Important thing is to have fun and find what works best for you.. Feel free to take what you want from this build and make it your own. PM here or in game if you have questions or just wanna chat ^^>

This build uses Sentinel Armor, which right now can run you over 486G for a suit, not counting the accessories. Do you actually have this armor, and do you play with this build?

(this was on 11th October 2013, prices do fluctuate)
Wow.

Any alternatives?

Im running Helm, Chest, Shoulders and Boots of Sentinels and Amulet and Rings are Sentinel as well…. Still needing legs, hands, earrings. Weapons are are Sent except Focus….
So for now I’m using Soldiers till I get Sentinel for those missing pieces.

Yes I’m using this build currently. I find it lots of fun and have very little problems with it.

What You Get
32000 HP …. 41000 in Lich Form
3200 Attack …. 4700 in Lich Form
2800 Armor
9% Crit …. 21% with 25 stack Perception …. 52% in Lich Form
Ground Targeted Wells so you can stay at a distance
4 Wells …. 3 seconds of Protection when a Well is cast …. Wells Siphon Health

This build was made with the condition meta in mind. HP was my first concern followed by the amount of damage I could apply (non-condition of course). With the amount of HP this build has, I didn’t find condition removal as necessary but yet we still have Well of Power to help team mates and, just in case, ourselves. I also feel comfortable with the 2800 armor, making power burst builds not so threatening. Though this build has sustained damage, I thought it could do with a little “burst”. So I added Sigil of Perception, which bumps our 9% up to 21% with full stacks. Well were chosen for utility actually for the fact that they were the most helpful when going 30 points in the Blood Magic trait line. Focused rituals was easily attainable giving this build some viability in wvwvw (or so I think).

[Build] 100% Buff

in Guardian

Here is the build:

http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fUQQNAW5elUgqCHFyvDm4ES2jVCBXQMFYUGdpwheIA-jkCBoLCyEEQkIwUBAZPFRjtuNsVXRr8KI6UER1OFER1iAYGD-w

What does this build do? Well, when it applies buffs, it applies them with 100% duration. Now any class can get 100% buff duration but I find it fits the guardian better… especially with the staff.

Damage is a little low… but with 25 stacks bloodlust and the constant 12 mights from Empower, we can keep our attack power up to 3000 and keep the pressure on.

We provide with this setup:
Perma Swiftness for allies.
Perma 12 stacks might for allies
Perma Regen for allies (if they stay in the symbol)
On demand Protection
10 secs of Stability and Retaliation on a 24 sec cooldown
20secs of every buff on a 48 sec cooldown ( gotta love “Save Yourselves”)
And since we stacked a little healing power, our heals are at a nice number

Not to mention that while our elite is active:
We apply 20 sec Protection and Regen on a 15sec cooldown

This however is all theorycrafted and barely tested. Would love to hear what you all think about it or what changes or class you would put 100% buff duration on.

Putting this build out there. I know there are many like this one so I thought I’d post mine and see what the community thinks. How would you guys improve? What would you change… or not change?

Runes of Perplexity and Distracting Strike trait
3 Interrupts with dual Mace
3 Interrupts with Hammer
2 Interrupts with Utilities
4 Interrupts with Rampage
If % stacks like I think it does… 100% additional confusion duration

3200 Attack
1350 Condition Damage
25k Hp
Signet of Might taken to overcome blocking

If there is another build that uses same traits and utilities, I apologize in advance. Scouring through the pages of the forums got tedious -_-.

here is something that might help ya,,, been using this build for about 9 months now. have had a lot of success with it. This is with exotics and consumables up mind you. I never wvw without them ^^.

pros:
3300 power
66% crit with trait
3150 armor
lots of crit damage
Meditations heal and are instant (meaning they can be used while using other skills)
With Flashing Blade, Judge Inter, Bane and Chains,, we can stay on top of enemy
Scepter skills hit quite hard so we don’t always need to be in melee

cons:
low hp – 11400
No condition removal except Smite Condition

small rotation i use to burst is: chains of light, smite, flashing blade, zealot’s defense
works well on moderate health and lower classes.
feel free to tweak and make your own.

wow guys, thanks for the replies… I love some of the ideas. It’s true that this build would not make for a good roamer. Usually I don’t have a problem with people not using skills when confusion is on them. With this build, the confusion last 5 secs and with confusing images 8 secs. Since I’m 90% of the time running with a group, if they don’t use a single skill within that time frame, they are as good as dead. Even traits that activate a skill on dodge will set off confusion damage.
@Keenlam I’m not sure how I didn’t find your build before, it’s awesome… I guess my build is going to need some more revamping.

When it comes to aoe, I leave it to classes that I feel do it better. It’s why I strive to have 4 ethereal fields that I can lay down combo with. The mesmer is the only class that has that much access to ethereal fields… I do believe the necromancer has one, but it’s a wall. You are right about 1v1… I have little trouble in that manner. I try to avoid running solo whenever possible with this build. Also, I forgot to mention that we now have Torment on the scepter… which I feel compliments confusion quite a bit.

Even though confusion was nerfed, I believe that people gave up on it to easily. Sure it doesn’t do the damage it used to, it just made stacking it more necessary. I like a challenge.

Poltergeist: The Confusion Mesmer Click Here for the build.

Here is a build I’ve reworked and revamped many times since release and I would like to present it to the community for feedback. In fact, it’s my first build being presented this way to the community, so play nice…..

It’s true that confusion has been nerfed on more than one occasion but I still find it viable if stacked 6+… which this build can do 13+ stack on confusion in 3 button presses.

You will mainly be using scepter/pistol with this build. Staff, as always, is a great defensive weapon and has one of our many Ethereal Fields.

How this works:
This build takes advantage of Ethereal Fields and Phantasmal Duelist. We have 4 Ethereal Fields: Null Field, Feedback, Time Warp, and Chaos Storm. Projectiles and Whirl Finishers will have a chance to add confusion to enemies when in/passing thru field, which is awesome in large group. Blast finishers and Leaps will apply Chaos Armor to the individuals in or going thru the field respectively (and who doesn’t like getting boons for being hit).
Anyhow… lay down an Ethereal Field and immediately cast Phantasmal Duelist, follow this up with Confusing Images. If slow to react, the enemy with have 10-13 stacks of confusion on them. With this build, that is roughly 1800 damage on skill use. Now you could always pop Mirror Images as well and when Phantasmal Duelist does its first barrage, shatter them using Cry of Frustration inflicting another 6 stacks of confusion. So you see, this build has no problem stacking many intensities on confusion on one enemy and at least 4-6 stacks on groups.

Don’t worry though, we are not a one trick pony with this build. We bring ethereal fields (as stated above), Blind, Daze, Stun, AoE Cond Removal, AoE enemy Boon Removal, Projectile Reflection, AoE Quickness, Boons with Chaos Storm/Winds of Chaos.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message or post a reply. I would love to hear from you guys.

Is it time for fast hands to become base?

I agree that fast hands should be base but maybe not 5 seconds,,, maybe 7 secs. I think by making it base but leaving it at 5 seconds is asking a bit much.

Here is my auras build. I use it in all forms without much trouble (wvw, pve, and spvp)
This has not been tourny tested yet.

The idea is using auras for your own personal gain. Makes for an awesome bunker/roamer build. 3200 power, 3200 armor, 19k hp.

I prefer to use dagger/focus for the extra survivability but this can be done with dual daggers as well. However, with the focus you receive invulnerability and condition removal in earth, projectile blocking and a knock down in air, chill and daze in water,,, what’s not to love. Using an aura gives 5 seconds of Swiftness, Fury, and 3 seconds of Protection. Dagger/focus gives two auras, our traits allow our signets to give us an aura (so there is another 4 auras), and the passives stay active, our rune choice gives us an aura for those times when things get tough.

Consumables play and important part if you are doing WvW. -40% cond duration can save your life and the stone helps synergies with our high tougness/vitalty.

Here is the build I use for pve, wvw, and spvp. Has not been tested in tournys.
This build provides me with almost everything I need for any situation and has served me well for well over the better part of 6 months. It has been tweaked, played, tweaked some more, and played even further. I hope you guys and gals find this build to your likings as well. This build remains unnamed, so any suggestions would be cool.

Superior Rune of the Dolyak

30 HP/sec at 80 is junk. That’s 1800hp/minute, or just less than the damage done by a single bleed stack applied by a player with 0 condition damage. Or you can get soldier runes and remove 25 stacks of bleed with each shout. No contest.

Not everyone has or even uses shouts though…. stop comparing it to shouts. I agree that in pvp/wvw it seems underwhelming but people play pve as well. It’s not terrible nor is it game changing.
