After 2 lost – 1win, I was matched again against their full premade (More Guns Than Roses – Pro league) and gained 2 pips while losing 424-500.
Isn’t there something wrong ?
(total including fights against GnR 4 lost – 1 win)
Hi,
After a few days, I’m starting to be wondering : Is my MMR broken ?
I get way more defeats than victories but I keep being matched up against ESL pro league teams, or top player premades, sometimes several times in a row. (I had to add some of them as friends to check if they are queueing or not before getting myself in queue, in order to avoid them).
e.g. yesterday was something like 1 victory – 2 Defeat – 2 victories – 5 defeats – 1 victory – 2 defeats – 1 victory – 4 defeats…. Total : around 8 win for 20 defeats.
I was thinking, it’s ok, with so much defeats things will become easier.
And today : first match was against More Guns Than Roses (full premade) Vs 2+1+1+me (teamates were good players though).
My ranked winrate was 62% (pre-league) stayed the same for the first week and suddenly dropped to 53% this week whereas my gameplay gets better.
-The weirdest thing- is that I’m still going up in leagues (almost diamond now). I even lost a match but won 2 pips ! (460-500) vs a full premade
FYI : I play mostly solo or sometimes duo.
Is there someone that could tell me if it’s normal ? Am I the only one ?
I enjoy playing against competent opponents but maybe I shouldn’t be matched up against them?

My main is Engineer
Ahh, makes sense. You play the class that …
When someone asks OP “what class do you play?” I always feels like whatever the answer is, the person asking will come up with an explanation like “you play an easy class”
I wonder what could have been the other answers :
Ahh, makes sense. You play the class that …
[insert answer according to class]
"
-Elementalist : omg, so much sustain, defensive skills, kiting… etc
-Mesmer : omg, you can stealth, burst , TP and have instant CC + moa… etc
-Thief : same as mesmer (except moa)… etc
-Engi : omg, so much defensive skills, invul … etc
-Warrior : omg, you can be immune to damage/condi/CC + rampage… etc
-Necro : omg, you have so much instant CC + a second life bar + plague/lich … etc
-Guard : so much defensive skills while being zerk + burn + blocks… etc
-Ranger : omg, you can pew pew, invul, stealth and kite… etc
"
Conclusion : After so much time reading the forum it seems that most players are The best player of [insert class 1] and that [insert class 2] isn’t concerned by [insert specific issue] because [insert class 2] is easy to play/OP.
N.B. : I’m not saying that there is no issue. I’m not saying that X or Y class is OP/UP. The point of this post is only about players’ reaction. Yes, the game still needs balance but I’m definitely not talking about that.

Thief needs quick reactions and playing fast so if I were you (taking into account what you said) I’d go for the guardian because the pace is a bit slower.
Also playing thief requires more knowledge about the map : where you can TP, etc. so if you are casual, it’s better to focus on positionning and rotations instead of learning the map.
Notice that these classes both need skill.

Do not forget to mention that we need a proper spectator mode
What would you suggest to put into spectator mode, Kapranos?
In my opinion, an effective spectator mode is the first step to get the community more involved into PvP.
People could see how others are playing, and/or watch certain interesting teams/players just for pleasure. The community may get better at PvP and it could draw more people/teams into competitive gameplay because spectating is a way of discovering things that someone’s not necessarily used to, or it may give ambitions.
Also, more people watching might draw more attention toward gw2’s PvP and this is essential for an E-Sport wannabe-game. More attention equals more sponsors/visibility in the gamer community/more will to create PvP teams/play PvP.
Now getting to the point :
Currently if you want to watch games; players recording their game is the closest to a proper spectator mode because there is no way to watch a match in-game (except private arena). Of course there is a spectator mode but a few vital points are missing :
-You should be able to spectate random ranked games going on at that moment (with players of high MMR)
-You should be able to spectate a friend playing ranked/unranked (other than private arena)
-You should be able to watch (in game) a tournament that is going on at that time
[Of course, with a slight delay to prevent cheating.]
These points would make the spectator mode good enough to be used.
N.B. : Things like free camera, etc. are just cherries on the cake and even if it would be nice, these aren’t vital things for a “proper” spectator mode.
P.S. I’m not perfect I may forget points, also excuse me for my english.

Use poison to reduce the lord’s healing
Do not forget to mention that we need a proper spectator mode
Just want to show my support.
It would be the 1st large-scale (10-20 vs 10-20) E-Sport.
Difficult to set up ? Probably.
New market/Unprecedented gamemode ? Certainly.
Just like sPvP, it would need a better spectator mode though.

[not speaking about any profession in particular]
Might stacking is a combo that need to press more than 3 buttons.
Something that needs to think shouldn’t be more rewarding than pressing a single button !
Next step should be to buff the “1” for all professions and then remove all the other abilities. Wouldn’t it be great if we only had to press one button to get exciting fights ? And think about your opponent, you’d only have people that never do mistakes !
PvP and WvW will be so interesting in the future !
I guess gw2 is really on it’s way to be the best Esport…
BTW : Concerning WvW, if a zerg “forgets” to stack might, It’ll be 14,3% more forgiving.

@OP: This is a great idea !
It would be even better if we could have also GvG streamed. It includes less people but way more tactical moves and these are fair fights.
Such streaming would quickly get popular and as you said, It would be the first large-scale E-Sport.
P.S. Sorry for my English, I hope everyone understands what I mean.
