The trait probably won’t get even used that much. Not because it’s weak, but because the existence of such trait alone is somewhat enough to marginalize condition builds. If condition specs get played, diamond skin bunker eles get played. If such eles are common spec then conditions don’t get played. That’s a relationship of a very specialized predator and it’s prey, which means mutual extinction because no competitive player will risk the chance of absolute dead draw.
It has major implications when it comes to sPvP balance.
I do recognize that this trait is not anywhere near as strong as Automated Response System on Engineers. The issue is that outright immunity with no duration is just saying “no, that strategy doesn’t work. Period.” Rather than “That strategy isn’t your best move.”
Automated response is by far the weaker trait. You can frontload lethal numbers on the board against it. When the AR kicks in and you played your cards right, you got enough damage to ensure the kill. If you didn’t then the engi can’t heal up if he wants to maintain the immunity which means that the similar direct damage that would allow you to start applying conditions on the elmentalist, kills the engineer.
Diamond skin on the other hand shuts you down cold right from the start. It doesn’t kick in. It’s there from the start and you need to work around it, which you lack the tools for if you went with the condition build.

They should start by scrapping the minion master specific minor traits. The other one is pretty obvious. Toughness while in DS. Very generic, yet universally useful no matter the utilities. Surprised we don’t have more DS minor traits even tho this thing is suposed to be our class mechanic, whatever that is. For any other build than 30 in SR, it’s a glorified damage soak.
With the other minor they could get more creative. Regen health while in DS, like engineers kit regeneration. Would be right in line with the alleged design philosophy where necro is supposed to face tank everything and somehow sustain that way.
The minion crap just doesn’t cut it. It’s a dead tree for anything that doesn’t have the utility bar filled with minion skills. To make the line actually worthwhile it needs extensive remake, or alternatively give it the spite treatment aka give something ludicrous on the grand master tier so you are forced to wade trough all the crap to get to the goods.
Case in point.
All the answers you listed are something you would typically only see in a direct damage build, apart from the flesh golem, which you don’t typically see at all plague being the mandatory elite skill even for the power builds.
Immunity is in League of Legends, I think we can consider league of a legends a somewhat successful game, and many immunities in that game are perfectly healthy.
Even this game has immunities, but not like this. The new diamond skin duration isn’t limited in anyway as long you stay above the threshold. As it happens cond necros and mesmers, which don’t get played that much tho, don’t have any real options to break that threshold. When you account consumable sustain like omnomberry ghosts, that trait will annihilate any condition based spec, not just the necros and the mesmers, whom have non existent direct damage.
It’s equally ridiculous to the polar opposite of the trait. Immune to direct damage when above the threshold. It’s really not hard to stay above the threshold when you kill more than 9/10ths of the enemy’s damage output.
Introducing such a trait at 90%, let alone at 80%, is about same as letting few stray cats loose in the New Zealand. The trait isn’t even complex. It’s quit obvious how you would want to play trait like that.

Pure immunity is never a healthy design. You would think that any self respecting game developer has played Diablo 2 given it’s probably the benchmark for a successful game.
Perfect immunities are never healthy design.
Condition necro strolls around the map with plague equiped and meets up knight wearing elementalist, with diamond skin and signet of restoration. To win, the elementalist would have to press #1 once and stay in range, which isn’t hard considering he is immune to cripple and chill. That’s not just a heavily favored match up. That’s a zero % chance for an outplay.
It’s not that powerful considering that if you went condition damage the staff effectively has no auto attack. Without condition damage the mark is not worth casting and with condition damage the auto attack really isn’t worth casting.
Calling it powerful is a stretch beyond absurd. Last thing that pops into mind when someone uses the word powerful is necromancer weapon skills, luckily the profession can somewhat make up to that elsewhere. Now the change is a fairly nonfactor. Scepter is the condition weapon and staff is used with full mark rotation for it’s utility. The MoB dps really doesn’t matter since staff is abysmal for sustained dps to begin with. Power couldn’t care less about the bleeds.
The reasoning is still just ridiculous. One of the most powerful abilities in the game… That’s pure comedy gold.
I can’t really quite understand where they are coming from.
As far as i’m concerned there are two different necro builds.
You got the DS and power wellmancer, whom is the kittened little cousin of the staff elementalist. Compared to elementalist it has less damage, less range, infinitely less utility, multitudes lower survivability. That’s mostly because power necros have this time old dilemma where all their weapon skills are turret crap outside of dagger auto chain.
Then there is the pure breed dueling spec that is terror doomfire. Admittedly it can occasionally be pretty frustrating to play against, but by all means it’s not the only offender on that front. Put it in any other scenario outside of it’s comfort zone of 1v1 and the build pretty much falls apart. It can’t take focus and it lacks the cleave.
Those are the non eccentric necro builds that are actually played. The wellmancer is sup bar and terror is one trick pony in same sense as the D/D glass cannon thief is. Increasing gear item level is not helping the case of either one of them. Both became relatively weaker with the introduction of ascended weapons and both will become more weaker when the rest of the ascended gear hits live.
Reflecting these changes against those realities and the reaction is: What?

“Death 5 – Reanimator. Decreased cooldown from 30s to 15s.”
Frankly the trait will always be negligible if the cooldown is anything above zero. It has never any impact on the outcome of any fight whatsoever and reality is that it’s more annoying than a perk. If you want to keep them as they are, the reality is that i would rather take 800 year cooldown than 15 second one.
I really like dislike the first two death minor traits. I think the concept is flawed as in they got nothing universal about them. If you don’t play minion master, they do not advance your cause in any fashion. You occasionally just spot a rat that does nothing, dies instantly and the worse part is that you need to listen your character to cry after it.
Minor traits shouldn’t be build defined. Based on other traits the trait line is definitely not solely minion focused, so why the minor traits are? These two scream: “Filler.” The correct move would be to scrap them all together and just go for something more universal.
I’m assuming that they increased the material costs in an effort to reduce the amount of 2012 Halloween items that are still floating around. But requiring such a high amount would need to equate to literally millions of unclaimed ’12 items on the TP.
Still absurd. Because you can’t go sub vendor price, even assuming you could purchase the pieces for absolute minium, you would still need to dump precursor money just get the nougats and that still leaves the matter of 10000 candy corns. Besides there weren’t even 10000 units listed on TP earlier today.
Only reasonable explanation is that this is that this is a elegant trolling attempt, which in all honesty very much did sink in. Otherwise Anet probably should take a very good look at the credentials of the so called economists they apparently employ.
Can’t be too high. Done all the achis apart from 2 dailies needed for completion and haven’t seen one yet.
For the time being it’s 1380g for the nougats alone if you buy everything with current buy order price. 1900g with sale orders.
The rich get richers. People who got the gift recipe from last year are quite well off. Your last chance to get the the crossing for anything close to 200g is closing fast before the market is cornered.
I have very faint hope that this is some kind of “trick” before the treat, but if it is i hope they reveal it quick, because i’m seriously pondering calling quits right here and now. I have played fair share of games in my years and this has to be most absurd thing ever to be seen.
Let’s put this in context. You need 100k nougats and you got 30 days to collect them. 3333 per day, 139 per hour, 2.3 per minute.
There aren’t even 10000 units available in the TP. Not one of these recipes will be made this year if this doesn’t turn out to be some kind of sick joke.

Today I was hit for 17K by one thief cluster bomb (short bow no. 2 skill slot). My hp is only 13K and that is it. One hit instant death. By the way, I was naked at that time to save on repair bill in WvW so the damage was unmitigated. But still 17K per hit is a big number especially when it come from a AOE spell.
People may feel thief is op. I would thought so. However, when I log in to play my thief char. OMFG. I can’t do more than 1K dmg on enemy before he kills me. The only explanation I can offer is because of my connection lag. I am playing from oceanic region and hence what I see on my screen is 2 second late. This would also mean I would have been dead 2 seconds earlier while I still think I am fighting at the moment.
Just qq-ing about my experience and frustration of GW2 pvp and thief class.
30/30 thief with berserkers gear and scholar runes, maybe a orb buff, food buff and assassins signet with might stacks definitely doable. Tho that takes pretty special conditions.
I would say the projected damage for a cluster arrow with 30/30 build in berserkers gear is something between 2 to 7k being tough heavy armor wearers to scaled up light armor wearers.
6 auto attacks and 2 dancing dagger casts. More than 2 seconds even with quickness.
Then again that was a glass cannon thief practically just auto attacking you till dead. Could probably do it faster than 2 seconds with perfect rotation signet backstab build.
GW2 is starting to look like authentic Diablo 3 experience. With large trading post along comes atrocious drop chances. As always there are bugs to be exploited early on that expand the gold supply and push prices to the levels that are plain out absurd for legit players. Damage is done and it will take long time, if ever, to mend it.
Just like the real world. Play by the rules, obey laws and pay taxes just to realize that nothing good will ever come from that. GG! Might as well go play the stock market and get shafted there.

It’s more profitable just to sell the stuff needed. Tried it out and with 1:1 salvage ecto ratio it would be close to break even, but it turned out that the salvage rate ended up actually being lower. Could be due small sample size, but at best you can expect break even with a risk + the time invested and you could actually spend the time better just by farming dynamic events somewhere.
This is a carbon copy of the previous problem that somehow seemed to disappear. Not sure if Anet made some changes that fixed it or if it was a Windows update. Either way it’s back now.
What ever the reason GW2 is causing kernel crashes. It shouldn’t be able to do that, yet it’s doing just that. Haven’t bothered to run memory and stress tests thi time around so there is a slim change that hardware has started malfunctioning since then, but last time this problem was occurring hardware was mint and problem only occurred with GW2.
Log always points to kernel crash, so that’s no help. It’s driver related. Might be the sound, might be the video. Somehow GW2 is apple to trigger whatever is causing this. Last time the attention was focused on video drivers, but perhaps audio was to blame all along? Need to test some solutions.
PS. Now that i think about it i swapped to table mic from a headset. Guess i’ll try with the driver disabled for now, but this is the longest of all the long shots ever. Timeline wise only 2 significant things has happened, new device and new patch.

BSOD's and Crashing caused by Hardware or Engine?

I have watched what happens as well and problem might not even be a video driver. It’s a kernel crash so naturally video drivers crash as well, but it’s might not be what originated it.
Once the game crashed right after running launcher before i was even in game. Also this seems to plague both Nvidia and AMD card users. Crashes also happen totally randomly in a sense that it can be heavy duty action or just idling still in stress free environment like crafting in black citadel.
During the last crash sound stopped working before game minimized, windows stopped responding and BSOD followed.
How many of the people who are suffering from random crashes are using Avast?

To add to that crash is originated from ntoskrnl.exe, but since crashes are only occurring after running GW2.exe it’s not the root of the cause.
Out of curiosity: What Antivirus are you people running?

Adding 4th type of crash to the list. Hard reset during when installer was downloading the patch files. This was first time this happens and possibly not related to the others mentioned earlier, but i keep an eye out for it. Tho if we go with the assumption that chance of critical system failure closes to chance of 1 overtime when running GW, then these should be extremely rare.

Random is random. I did re apply the drivers and it seemed like it fixed it. 8 hours of uninterrupted play time, then back to back crashes, then 6 hours next play sessions no crashes, then crash, then no crashes, then streak of crashes, then long session again and now two more crashes.
So did the driver wipe help? In hindsight i really can’t tell. Probably not if i would have to guess.

It is a driver issue and there is no fix as of yet. BSOD, hard resets, sound loop and perfect freeze where you can’t even get the capslock light to light up. All can happen on same computer.
Windows, GPU drivers and GW2 is a deadly mix for some reason. GW2 crashes kernel and rest is history. Right now i would have to put blame on GW2, since this problem cannot be reproduced outside this specific game.
I’ll summarize a bit.
Quite a lot of people are experiencing game crashes and BSOD’s. Setups that are experiencing these crashes range from very high end rigs, to decent, to rigs that meet the systems reqs. Affects both AMD and Nvidia cards alike. Some people claim the crashes happen when dying gear, some when fast traveling, some haven’t noticed any recognizable pattern at all. Crashing is fairly random in a sense that sometimes you can play the whole day with no crashes where other times you get streak of nearly instant ones and this makes it extremely hard to say if the treatment is working or not. Some people claim that they have been able to “treat” the symptoms by undercloking their GPU, but as time has passed it has turned out that the problem is still there.
So all we are wiser is that the game crashes randomly and while some people have found patterns of what causes it and possible fix solutions, the sheer randomness makes any of that impossible to verify.
What caused or at least made this epidemic common was either game or Windows patch. Sadly i’m afraid there is not much that the end user can do to fix this issue. We need to wait for a fix, but first step to getting that would be to get someone who can actually to fix this issue to recognize that there is a problem that has to be fixed.
Don’t hold your breath in the meanwhile.
AMD card, 8 documented crashes. 7 unidentified and one pointing to GPU driver.
After full driver sweep i was able to play the whole day until very recently when the game finally crashed and now it’s doing it again every 10 minutes. I guess something got corrupted.
I get that these issues only affect fairly small minority % wise, but in absolute terms the number of people affected has to be still fairly substantial. It can’t be too much to ask to consult the big card manufacturers, reproduce the error and fix it.
I’m playing on PC, but probably doesn’t make any difference since i’m fairly certain that the issues is that GW2 doesn’t play nice with some driver.
Tested my hardware and ran whocrashed which put the blame on some driver, which sadly it cannot identify.
What’s weird is that this seems to plague both AMD and Nvidia setups. It might not be GPU related, but then again some people have found the cure by underclocking their cards.
PS. It’s not overheating either. Too many people have ruled that one out by now.
Tried multiple fixes as well, but it’s hard to get anything concrete on the matter. Impossible to say if something is aiding or not due the nature of crashing which is very inconsistent. Sometime game runs for hours without problems and then you get streak of crashes every 10 minutes.
Very, very very annoying. Can’t really do anything in game, since i’m just constantly waiting the game to crash.
Same exact issue here. i’ll explain everything i’ve tried so far. starting with system specs.
i7-920 c0
12gb kingston hyper-x memory
multiple hard drives AND ssd’s to try.
evga gtx 580 3gb
evga x58 e579 classified moboThis is what i’ve tried, only the last option worked.
*ran memtest – no errors
*swapped memory with 3 different sets from 1-6 sticks of memory. had issues with 1 stick,2,3,4,5, and 6.
*ran memtest on 2nd/3rd pairs of memory – no errors
*loosened memory timings on all 3 sets of memory
*installed on 2 SSD’s and 3 HDD’s
*underclocked my 920 and video card to defaults
*reinstalled the game/ran repair on all ssd’s and hdd’s
*swapped my gtx 580 with a gtx 560 ti 448
*swapped the 560 ti 448 with a gtx 295
*swapped gtx 295 for old gtx 275
*updated drivers for video cards
*downgraded drivers for video cards
*reinstalled windows for kicks at which i updated drivers and only installed gw2 to see if i got issues. And last but not least the way i fixed this was by swapping my computer with my wifes computer when she was at school.
Solid fix. Though getting married just to fix GW2 problems feels bit excessive to me.
It sure sounds and even looks like overheating, but seeing the amount of people who have ruled that one out, myself included, it’s probably not.
I’m coming into conclusion that the problem is either with GPU or audio drivers, memory or just hard drive related. The way the crash happens, shutting down the game, hanging the explorer and shutting it down would point to HD issues. I get a feeling that the game “kills” the disk and crash will follow.
It could be driver issue since i can’t reproduce the crash outside GW2, but the way crash happens practically shouts faulty HD, except it’s not faulty…
Crashing really picked up speed for me now and what has happened since it worked fairly smoothly was windows downloaded an update + GW2 was patched.
Sadly i’m running SSD. With HDD you could possibly even say if it’s the disk just by listening mechanical sounds. I’m open for suggestions. Don’t know what has happened, but suddently GW2 just doesn’t seem to blend with my rig.
I’ll join the club.
Got few occasional crashed first time maybe few days ago, anyways not a big problem back then. For some reason they have now picked up the pace and are becoming more and more frequent to the point where it’s struggle to get even one piece of personal story line quest completed. There is something wrong and that something keeps piling, or something was changed since the frequency of this happening went up very dramatically.
Memtest clean. Card HD 6950 2gb, i5 2500k, Game on SSD system disk running 64bit W7.
I’m not sure if i read this correctly, but it seems like that for some people the game crashes the whole system and for some people only the game crashes? For me the whole system crashes and i have both: GW2 and operating system on the same hard drive. If there are those for whom only the game crashes… Do you have OS and GW2 on separate hard drives?
People are not reading the original post.
We are talking about one piece that’s needed to craft one legendary weapon and there are others that are needed. If what the op wrote is true that would be all time grindfest. 480 hours to pure grind, or $4000 in minium wage job.
Sounds so absurd that i don’t think that can be correct. Then again it’s possible that they are meant to be crafted as guild efforts, but i find it unlikely that even single one will ever be made then.
