Even World of Warcraft introduced a talent for hunters to be allowed to run without pets.

Honestly dude, I loved playing longbow ranger in zergs, but I got wholesome tired of dealing with the pet. A pet I never wanted in the first place and that I dislike. That is in no way helping me but certainly has caused my death plenty of times. Even in the defensive position.

And what baffles me is the refusal to AT LEAST let me keep it stowed.

I’d still be waiting for the day I can enjoy the story of whatever happened in Lion’s Arch..

…. but I doubt it’ll ever happen.

Get rid of the pet altogether. Although that will obviously never happen. But at least make it not terrible. ON THE VERY LEAST LET US KEEP OUR PETS STOWED IF WE SO CHOOSE. Also the post above mine has some very good points. And I’ll make his pets and swords points mine. The very reason I don’t use swords (Hell, I’d get rid of the animation locking altogether).

And something that at this rate will never happen, which is have the LOS problems fixed. It’s absolutely ludicrous that I can’t hit someone that’s on top of some stairs or some dude hiding behind a short wall even though the only part of them that I can’t see are his legs.

But clicking on your image I see a greatsword. Should that be a LB? since you said your 2nd weapon is staff

Just ignore it. I use it when going around PvE events instead of the staff (it is also what I used before I got Druid spec and used staff) but I had only gone into EB there to screenshot the build so I didn’t even change weapons.

Goes to show how many craps they give about the pet being a terrible mechanic. I seriously wish we didn’t have a pet at all. But if I’m forced to have it, at least let it be any good.

The movement speed alone is already good in its due situations, add the slow reduction and yes (or the other way around). I love it.

Not quite the pants I wanted, but I’ll have to wait until the item comes up on the TP again.

What I used to get when I was playing Ranger instead of Druid and used GS instead of Staff for mobility, was the kitten bird animation permanently on top of me sometimes when I died in the middle of the dash (and it was annoying as hell). This one never happened to me.

Metabattle is pretty thin on the matter… i hope that’s not the reality of it
Most of the things that would seem to make sense have limited range to be effective it seems, IDK, just haven’t found anything that really seemed to work and was looking for advice/tips?

Well, I for one play LB Druid… but I literally only enjoy and do mass pvp.

I run full Zerk, Ranger Runes and Fire/Accuracy Sigils.

As a 2nd weapon, I use a Staff for “bailing out” purposes. With Sigils of Energy and Agility. You can use ‘3’ to dash and ‘4’ to cleanse.

If you play it well, you can carry blobs by yourself. Specially in choke points and tight spaces.

Play it bad and… well… you’re on full zerker, you can guess.

Might not be everyone’s thing, but it’s mine. And I love pew-pewing like this.

Edit: I dont get people saying that LB might be good for soloing… I’d say LB is the last thing you should use solo. Hell, I’d probably not even use it in small scale. But I can see it working there.

Edit2: There are probably tweaks I could do to this… but I’m neither rich or often have the patience to.

I will agree, it’s kittened that we’re themed after healers. That was in no way what people rolled Ranger for to begin with.

i’d like Aney to overhaul the ranger, as long as they keep the pet (but not the actual pet system) and the healing theme in the druid, i wouldnt mind to have to relearn to play it.

I wish they’d just get rid of the pet entirely and switch its power to the rest of its kit.

I love my Ranger/Druid for every single thing it has/does… except the pet. Both because I’m not into the pet crap at all. I just want to play my kitten Archer (and sometimes stir the pot around with other builds).

I hate that every game has had the stupid idea of giving the ranger class a pet just because WoW did it.

Anyway, I obviously know that would be asking way too much. But they could at least rework the whole pet system and have it not be so terrible.

But right now, all I really REALLY asked was that, since the pet is quite literally useless in wvw blob fights, at least PLEASE LET US KEEP IT STOWED.
Every time I go into WvW I have to set it to passive mode because all the pet does is get in the way, aggroing stuff or giving the enemy another target to get me in combat.
I don’t get the kitten logic behind forcing us to have our pet out just because we get in combat. So ridiculous.

Yeah, I specced Druid, but I’m still there to deal damage. Don’t feel yourself forced to be a support.

Hey there, I am relatively new and I seem to have missed the chance to buy the Viper skin set from the TP, which is something I only found out even existed recently.

My question is, does Anet usually bring back those kind of items on the TP after a while or are my chances of ever getting it gone or is there any other info you can provide?

This game is confusing to any new player already unless someone’s holding your hand, so I don’t think it should matter.

I’m not criticizing the fact, by the way. The fact that it is so different is what made me like this game to begin with.

I don’t discriminate, I hate every one of my pets and I wish I could keep them stowed permanently in equal measure.

I play Longbow WvW Ranger.

I like my range, damage output and CC paired with my mobility.
Also, despite being easy to control, it takes a certain finesse to be a good ranger. A good Ranger can carry a blob fight on his own if he knows what he’s doing, specially in chokes. On the downside, it is also an ungrateful job, people don’t notice the work you do.

Unfortunately, to this day I still have no kittening clue why aren’t we allowed to hide our pets permanently. That’s pretty much the one complaint I have.

if running backwards is what you’re doing when the whole enemy melee train is coming at you, they thank you. either way, it’s irrelevant.

Well it wouldn’t involve programming, it’d involve animating. It’d be relatively small changes to a handful of existing animations, really just rotating the pelvis, making sure it doesn’t cause any conflicts, and hitting save. I don’t know if there’s any specific stuff internally that would make it more difficult than that, but it should be pretty easy.

It MIGHT involve a little bit of programming, depending on how it is animated. But even then it should be (relatively) quick.

I haven’t looked at it, but if there’s a problem, I give it as much credit. Should be something taking attention, because like I said, the character is gonna be in the face of the costumer through their play time. They should feel comfortable playing it. Whatever it is.

When you run forward while shooting, her spine literally looks broken and dislocated to the right. Same if you try blocking with GS while running (it’s actually even worse, her waist looks ridiculously twisted, like a piece of rubber). I suppose some armors hide it better than the others.

This isn’t a new complaint, I’ve found a post from an year ago about the exact same issue.

Some armors make the bow animation somewhat not as bad… somewhat. And what the hell is that with the GS?

Why not… but the question is still why cant they be bothered to fix something that, quite honestly, should have a degree of importance. It’s something that will be straight up in the face of their consumers through their online time.

Seriously. Pick up a female human ranger with a bow and try attacking while running forward. Or a the blocking animation of a GS. And those are probably not the only ones.

It’s like she’s made of 2 asura inside a suit. And even then they’d be defying the laws of gravity, most likely.

It’s honestly ridiculous that it has been ignored for this long.

And I know for a fact this has been brought up before.

So, it’s been 3 years now, and this kitten’s still going on. That’s one way to lose all respect. If you can’t fix it, redo it entirely. Zott won’t even start blowing up the third siege engine after I prompted him to. What a joke.

I main Power LB(+GS) Ranger in WvW and I can tell you it’s ungrateful, people don’t really notice the work you do, but (and this is not just my opinion) I can tell you a good ranger can carry a blob if he knows what he’s doing. Specially in choke areas. Plus, your mobility and survival is sick.

Edit: for reference, your pet’s straight up useless in blobs. idk why the hell can’t we keep them stowed, because I honestly don’t give a crap about pets.
