Yeah because engineers need another turret for their already impressive collection of useless turrets with more bugs than other classes have in total.
If all we do is take the worst traits and buff them, then every patch everything gets stronger and eventually the game is broken. The word balance literally means reaching an equilibrium which is in between two end points. This means that in order to reach it things must assuredly go up and down.
Yes and i would agree with this if it were not for the fact that the alternative Options are weak.
If things must move up and down to achieve balance then you must improve the other Options when you move IP.
I’ve made a little graphic to show where i believe the disconnect here occurs.
It shows what i believe to be the current State of Things and what i believe would happen if you were to improve the alternative Options before touching IP.
And if i haven’t made it exceedingly clear: This is simply my view of the Situation.

Wow. Just wow.
“Oh most engineers take this trait. This limits build variety. Let’s make it harder to get”
How do you arrive at this instead of :
“Oh most engineers take this trait. Maybe the other traits are just really bad compared to it – we should balance things”
This is hopeless.
They’ve said that they want to add more weapons to classes that are missing them right now.
Considering we already have a bunch of melee weapons i reckon the chances of getting a bow at some point aren’t too bad.
I just hope it happens soon.
This should not come as “part of the new map”.
You started a flipping WvW season and these fixes are needed now and not at some distant point in the future.
Honestly, how can this be low priority.
How can you even think about starting a WvW season without fixing all this stuff first?
As per usual they didn’t plan anything properly and the players have to pay for it.
Again i feel like pointing out. This 5% dmg on kits, which makes sense, got hotfixed within 24hours. But, eurh… how long have Turrets been broken now? 2 months? 2.5months?
Strictly speaking they have been broken in one way or another since beta.
Oh hey more BS from Anet. Getting used to it.
Oh look. They lied. Again.
I’d be surprised if it wasn’t such a common thing.
It’s not exactly like kits were topping the damage charts – they could’ve used a boost.
We (engineers) have to give up raw weapon damage because of kits and kit damage because of … ???
(edited by Keelin.5781)
What.
15chars
Yeah the boxes are a scam. As expected.
Learn from it and never spend money on them again – maybe then they will stop this nonsense.
Well a little while ago these were datamined:
http://imgur.com/0Q1ZKhH – medium
http://imgur.com/2fMEJfU – light
http://imgur.com/ZUkOjqK – heavy
I was really hoping they would come out with this update.
I would absolutely love the medium one on my engineer.
Engies are fun but as i see it , there’s nothing we can do that some other class can’t do better.
With that being said: You might encounter people that don’t want you in their dungeon groups.
I’d recommend you put those people on your ignore list asap and move on – they are the kind of people that will leave on the very first wipe and call everyone noobs.
I would love to see some answer to these but I’m pretty sure we won’t get any.
On the topic of question #1:
It’s also worth mentioning that a decent number of kits actually require you to trait for them , for them to be effective imo.
In that sense i don’t think we’re as versatile as the devs make us out to be.
Keep in mind that this versatility is why they made our actual weapons worse than real weapons (this was said by a dev in ye olde times).
I’d just like them to separate rifles from shotguns again.
Apparently they were two different weapon types to begin with.
Engineers use Rifles because that is the name of the Weapon Type.
That being said, yeah Engies totally use shotguns.
I hear that they were two different weapon types early on but were then rolled into one.
I understand that you think there’s a good chance that they’ll further limit it because they already did so in the past.
Personally i think that’s exactly why they won’t remove more.
If they had wanted to make them even less random then they would’ve done so back then, in my opinion.
Of course, i would be more than happy to be proven wrong
With all of that said , i would like to join the hatetrain on Elixir X.
It’s the most sloppy, cheap and boring thing they could come up with.
That alone wouldn’t be so bad if they forms it provided were actually worth something – but they are not.
I keep hearing about some sort of upcoming AOE nerf but i can’t find anything specific on it.
Could anyone please tell me what this is all about?
I’d really appreciate any help
This has been brought up many times before.
Now i know this is not what you (and i) want to hear but they have said that RNG is part of our class mechanics.
And they stubbornly cling to that silly idea.
They think it makes the class more “dynamic” and that forcing you to react to the random results of your own skills is “fun”.
They simply don’t seem to understand that ‘fighting’ your own skills isn’t fun and that randomness can not be influenced by skill.
So no, i don’t think we’re gonna see less RNG any time soon if ever and it’s making me sad.

I don’t really follow announcements or the forums much, so i have no idea what people are talking about here.
Could anyone explain what this is about? AOEs changing? How? What? Why?
This is too much fun – so you can definitely expect to see this removed.
Can’t have fun things like that on the engineer!
So have we heard anything new about the aetherblade weapons?
My engineer would absolutely love some of those.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about see this link:
http://imgur.com/a/cONc3
Well, the question is in the title.
What builds are people using for fractals these days?
Optimally i’d actually contribute something to the group other than just damage.
I’ve tried a bunch of stuff, from healing bomber to elixir support but it all seemed a bit pointless.
That being said i’m also really just curious what other people like to use , so let’s hear it
Well thanks for all the answers.
I can’t say i agree with their reasoning but there also seems to be precious little that can be done about it.
I don’t think the engineer is a bad class by any means but things like this are really quite discouraging – to me at least.
I keep hearing that the damage of the engineer weapons is intentionally designed to be lower.
I understand this is supposedly some sort of versatility tax.
What i don’t understand why the engineer is the only class to have such a thing.
My elementalist is easily as versatile if not more.
On top of that, to be truly effective with kits you need to spec and gear for these kits, making you less effective at using others – so surely that’s not the versatility this is about.
Not to mention that using kits will use up your utility slots.
So please, can someone explain to me what this is about? because i can’t wrap my head around it.
For all i know this might be a big lie or there might be another reason – so I’m hoping someone can clarify this.

Lol at the people who still think it’s too early to complain about these things.
How long are you gonna keep that “Hey guys it’s too early to complain” up? I see now it’s been moved up to a few years.
They have as much of a right to an opinion as anyone else. Even the people who say that they shouldn’t be complaining.

Look at them sweep this 11k posts thread under the rug like nothing ever happened.
Amazing.
The expensive items people got from it was just rubbing salt in the wound for the players who couldn’t make it. Not nice.
While this is not really something that we want to encourage, players do have the choice to play the game in the way they want.
Then stop encouraging it please.
Nothing will change. Like it or not.
Only thing you can do right now is decide whether you want to keep playing or not but don’t expect them to talk about this whole thing or change it – It’s just not gonna happen that much is clear at this point.
I’m guessing they’ll try to sweep this under the carpet.
Me too! I have an entire collection!
This threads gonna get deleted real soon.
(And we’re all gonna get infractions)
(edited by Keelin.5781)
They explicitly refused to say that this will be the end of it because they might end up lying again on the German forums.
Personally, what i see, is Star Wars Galaxies after the NGE.
The “vertical grind” they added, is optional at best as the stat difference is barely worth mentioning. No where will you see that one person was owned by another, because he had 3 more points in power. or 4 more points in vitality. Lol what a joker
Not entirely correct. It’s an 12-14% improvement over exotics with the current blue infusions.
This will increase with higher tiers of infusions.
The stat increase is consistent with the increases between the old tiers.
It’s fair to say that someone in exotics vs. someone in ascended is the same difference in power, relatively, as someone in rares vs. someone in exotics.
With that being said – currently you can not get a complete set of ascended items so right now the difference is not massive – this will change however.
11k posts, but many from the same people. Once again, not indicative of a majority or a minority. As of now, I doubt anyone can even say whether there is a majority.
Yeah but it’s definitely controversial no matter who’s the minority or majority here.
A thread doesn’t get that many posts with only 5 people posting about it.
Who knows. But there definitely is a thread with 10k posts in it about this patch.
So no matter what you want to believe – you can’t deny that this patch is controversial.

Quite frankly … The more i look at this the more i believe this was not because of player feedback.
I think it might really be that the upper ranks of the company forced their hands because they wanted more money.
How about you stop acting high and mighty.
A great many people don’t like what they did and they have every right to show it.
And rarely does a concept or a vision ever remain the same at its completion. Things DO change you know. Ideas get scrapped, new ideas are put in place. Nothing can remain the same. All you’re doing is clinging on to a few words from the past.
What you don’t understand is that these “few words from the past” as you call it – were the main reason many people were interested in this game in the first place.
Ascended items can’t use runes or sigils either. They only have the gem stats built into it. It’s nice for some things, but for others it’s actually worse.
Infusions also come with stats.
All in all the additional stats gained between exotic and ascended are consistent with the stat gains between the old armor tiers. As of now they are around 12% better.
This is not considering that we haven’t even seen more than the first tier of infusions yet – you can expect this gap to increase.
The addition of a few new items that aren’t even as good as other items that already exist in the game. I mean are you joking?
You either have no clue about any of this or you are literally playing a different game.
They were closer. As you can see they are now moving away from that.
Personally i’ve run out of positive thoughts after months of lacking updates – and now this.
Who thinks ascended items are ‘Exciting’ ?
ArenaNet PR managers and community managers!
The last time i witnessed a kitten-up of this magnitude was in Star Wars Galaxies /w the NGE.
Congratulations on messing up the one game that had a chance to change the MMO genre for the better – please enjoy the slow end of GW2 from this point on; You deserve it for your constant lies.

Please read this before anyone continues their rampant speculation
http://www.guildwars2hub.com/guides/basics/complete-guide-fractals-mists#.UKT2QkeP4Po.reddit
This will explain the dungeon in full. You get 5 relics per Fractal, 3 fractals before an increase in difficulty. Relics are used to purchase your gear, so it things look alot less random than people thought.
So assuming that a fractal takes, in the best case, 15 minutes to complete as they wrote:
Those items cost 1.350 relics.
15 min = 5 relics
1.350 / 5 = 270 (Fractals)
270 * 15 (minutes) = 4050 minutes = 67.5 hours
So 67.5 hours of nonstop fractals for one item.
We have 12 equipment slots NOT including weapons.
810 hours to get items for all 12 slots.
Let’s assume that one day is defined as 12 hours.
And we’re back to 67.5. That is 67.5 days of non-stop dungeons to get all of your equipment this way.
Truly, there’s no grinding in GW2.
If you think they’re gonna introduce this new mechanic and only use it in one dungeon then think again.
This will be treated like any other negative feedback before it:
They will ignore it until people stop caring or quit in frustration.
In any case, it won’t change anymore – that much is for certain. They are far too stubborn to go back on an idea like this (Or they are unable to because they are being pressured in some way).
Most certainly not.
