There is indeed a reason. That reason being… it’s a bug. I’ll get that fixed.

Hey Sold Out, I’ve identified most of the issues except for your Grenade Barrage sound, which is sounding fine for me. Could you confirm that what you’re hearing is going away when you aren’t using your Predator?

Edit: Scratch that Sold Out, I think I see the problem.

TwoPiArrrr, it sounds like you’re having an issue with speaker configuration. There’s a helpful post here on the Logitech forums that should resolve your issue with the panning.

Thanks for the reports, everyone. We’ll get this sorted out ASAP. Until then, if you need a workaround, updating your Playback Devices at the OS level will update the Audio Device options. Enabling/Disabling a device or swapping Default Devices, etc.

And for your issue with the G35, TwoPiArrrr, I’ll look into that today as well. I think we have one of those around here somewhere.

Hmm, curious. Without knowing what you have tried in troubleshooting thus far, can you try unplugging/replugging the headset when the game is closed? If that does nothing, can you try while it is open?

Hey Prodiax, can you check your Speaker Setup on the operating system level and make sure it is setup correctly to reflect your physical output device? For instance, if you are using stereo speakers or headphones, make sure the Speaker Setup is not set to surround sound. Otherwise the game will try to output center-channel audio on a speaker that does not exist.

If your using any command lines like -clientport 80 or -nosound etc it will cause the crash i had it myself but someone on reddit adviced to start the game without those lines and it helped.

We are seeing a crash with the -nosound command line argument, so anyone wishing to mute the game should remove it and use the Master Volume slider or your operating system mixer for now. However, this tierDenominator > 0 crash does not appear related.

Marcus, what are your system sound options like? If your Windows speaker configuration (located in the playback devices menu) is setup to support 7.1 or 5.1 surround, but you’re using a stereo output, you may miss sounds that would normally come out of the center channel.

Just a thought

Hello everyone. Just dropping by to relay a message that Maclaine wrote after reading the suggestions in this thread.

“Thanks for your suggestions, and most of all thanks for your concern. We do actually know what music is playing where. I was the one that set up every play list for every map, both in the original release and in all content released since then. I mentioned this in a livestream a couple of months ago, but I’ll reiterate it here. I’m not happy with how the music is used across the game, and I know from reading feedback that neither are players. One thing or another has kept me from overhauling it until this point, but music is my #1 priority for 2014, and what you’re talking about it something I am literally working on right this very moment. I’m going through every single map, from 1-80 for all races, and working on a plan to both redistribute the music in an intelligent manner, as well as figure out where there needs to be more new music. It will take a while for this to roll out, so I ask that folks are patient, but it will be coming at some point in the future.

Thanks again."

Hey Electro, thanks for bringing both of these up. The missing weapon stow is indeed a bug that will be fixed in an upcoming release. The karka issue is a bug due to a change we made to a large number of creatures that reduces their chance to play guttural sounds when they are not the actively selected target. This was mainly to reduce the spamming of attack sounds by Ranger pets and aggressive wildlife. That being said, the Veteran and Champion Karka attack sounds are something that should play 100% of the time, as they serve as a crucial warning for some of their more devastating skills. This will be fixed and back to normal soon!

Things such as your character’s race, profession, the map you were in and any events that you were participating in at the time (or if you were just killing creatures in the open world). Listing your audio settings would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you for the reports!

Thanks for the follow-up, Bish. This is a rare occurrence issue that we made efforts to eliminate in the last patch through a series of engine optimizations. Bobby,

Hold the line audio is bugged for human male and female. I think it might be bugged for all races. One question though……is guardian shouts not being heard by other players a bug too? Or is it intentional?

Don’t hear it on my Charr either, I think it’s same for all races. I am wondering about the second question you presented as well, though.

To reiterate what Bobby was saying, both the female and male sylvari lines were recorded incorrectly, so the decision was made to not include that line for any race until they can be fixed. The second issue concerning Guardian shouts not being audible to other players is something that we’re investigating.

One of our designers has been tweaking the combat mix recently. The sounds you’re referring to are indeed a bit louder and carrying farther than they were previously, making them seem more frequent (they have always been there, but were not as audible unless you were very close to the source). I’ll pass along your feedback!

Saucermote, in the application level of the Windows volume mixer, is Guild Wars 2 set to 100%? I want to make sure all external variables are accounted for. In addition to that, does adjusting the VOIP Ducking slider (in the Sound Options panel) when the volume drop is occurring affect the levels in any way?

Reset to default and readjusting volume levels didnt help
voice from npc´s or players is very silent even maxed out
realtek onboard sound card

I’m still looking into this issue, but so far it is not reproducing on any of our setups. Are you using headphones or speakers?

Edit:
Speaker configuration could also be the source of the problem. Please check your Speaker Setup settings in the Windows sound device panel and ensure that it accurately reflects your speaker arrangement (Stereo is generally the standard for headphones or two speakers). For Guild Wars 2, being set to 5.1 or 7.1 can cause significant problems with playback volume when the playback device is only capable of left and right channels. When running 3.1, also ensure that Center is the only “Optional Speaker” enabled. If you are still experiencing problems after this, please reply and let me know. Thanks!

I have a Soundblaster X-Fi fatality with an optical link to A/V receiver, setup as DTS encoding, and then to a 3.1 full range speaker setup. I’ve had to turn the volume up quite a bit, which can be a bit unnerving when an email or something arrives.

Have you set your Audio Device in the Sound Options panel to reflect this? The “Default Device” setting will not always choose the optimal device.

Hello, all. During the patch on Friday we made some changes to fix stability issues with the audio engine, which in turn may affect your mix. We test the levels on various different setups here to ensure the audio mix is balanced whenever there are changes, but different hardware can be affected with varying severity. I would advise anyone having these problems to use the “Restore Defaults” option in your Sound Options panel then adjust the volume sliders accordingly.

Hey everyone, I looked into this issue and it appears to be a problem with the way playlists point to their music files. The repro I was managing consistently involved saving a playlist outside of its ultimate destination then moving it to the Music folder. For anyone experiencing this bug, please attempt saving all of your custom playlists directly to the music folder where Guild Wars documents are stored (for example, C:\Users\[Your name]\Documents\Guild Wars 2\Music), as opposed to copying them to this folder. If the bug is still occurring after this, please let me know. Thanks!
