@Mato how will it make it worse? Take a look at the thread “I heart elementalists”. It’s flamed to kitten by the community. It doesn’t matter if you have valid points, are positive, negative or silly. I’m trying to make people aware of what the kitten we are doing.

I feel a tad let down by my point being overlooked, discarded as QQ about QQ. I qoute “Until things start to change, why not help each other out with constructive builds and tactics, instead of bickering amongst ourselves about things we know nothing about (assumptions about a persons preferences etc).”

This is my point. A naive one at best, but alas, something to strive for in my humble opinion. Emphasis in this thread would be “why not help each other out”.

I’m very well aware this thread will spiral out of control, ending up in a flame fest, usually with long elaborate replies which in essence slanders me as a person and/or as a player. Some will call me a noob, others a elitist since, well. This part of the forums has completely lost it.

There is a large part of the community that are happy with the elementalist in it’s current state, this includes veterans of GW1, newbies, elitists.

I would love for this forum to shape up. Until things start to change, why not help each other out with constructive builds and tactics, instead of bickering amongst ourselves about things we know nothing about (assumptions about a persons preferences etc). As it stands now every thread attempting to give some sort of tips and tricks gets torn down by people who does not enjoy playing elementalist. It’s a free for all where no one is a winner. Anet gets a harder time to go through it all, and we loose support and care.

My question would be; Why tear down the elementalist forum? Do you understand your own role in the community? And ultimately, do you understand that by attacking people who enjoy the game you ruin the game for said person?

I’m close to quitting my ele, not cause of the class, but because of you people and your eternal bickering, and the lack of support from the community to solve some of the obstacles. Instead every thread offering some advice is hunted down and burned down the ground in an effort to ventilate frustration. “Hey dude, since your doing so well, what specc are you running with?” becomes “you’re elitist, and a noob. The class is broken, gtfo”.

It’s moot, and it won’t help anyone.

frustrating if u've played other classes before.

You might wanna put this in suggestion instead. I agree with the ele downed skills are more or less useless in pvp though, and 2 being a earthquake with knockdown would be amazing.

But yeah, put it in the suggestions instead. Bigger chance of the devs actually looking at it there instead of dismissing it as QQ. :P

I keep seeing more and more posts like this, and frankly I find myself worried that you guys are correct. It looks like the community is beginning to split amongst the people who say “well, why do you hate fun?” and people who say “i don’t think it’s fun not getting rewarded”. I feel nudged inbetween. On the one hand i do like the focused gameplay, but on the other hand, everything costs money, whcih means i have to keep moving. The game actively punishes me for staying in an area to long. I loved the AC dungeon untill i noticed how i actually lost money from it, and also getting an item i couldn’t use. Sure the tokens where nice if i was actually looking for grinding that exotic gear. If you are reading this Anet i would love to hear what’s your plan with all this.

As it stands now it looks like people are just vagabonds walking around in big circles trying to find some sort of purpose in this world. The only real reward in this game is either in PvP, or after farming for hours on end. And before you give me “why rush?” answer this question; Why would I go back to a starter zone if i don’t gain anything from it? The idea with level scaling was that i could go back and get rewarded for doing so, right? Well i don’t get rewarded for doing so.

As it stands now they have gone back on that word. Cosmetics? Well that weighs very thin when i can barely pay for my repair bill trying to help out in AC. I’m taking my sweet time getting myself to 80, but i really don’t wanna find myself in the position i was in when playing wow; Asking guildies for repair money to help out.

But yeah I agree with you. For the time being, i have no idea what Anet is planning. If people try to find ways around a set system there is a problem. It looks like Anet is trying to treat the symptoms, not the problems. I.e punishing players for what seems to be poor design.

TLDR; Everything costs money, and as long as it does (wp repair etc) you have to at least pay for the cost of doing something so you don’t go flat broke when revisiting areas.

A mate of mine told me today that they made a change to the cook crafting which made a lot of its material drop from other sources, one of them being those bags humanoids carry around. This makes cloth drop rates compete with cook mats, as well as other craft mats.

When i started playing my elementalist i had no issues leveling my tailoring, but now I have a hell of a time, even though I’m a leather worker. I had salvaged and saved everything on 3 different alts up to level 8 each, and got another char to level 16 and I still haven’t hit 75. I ran around like a madman, repeated dynamic events over and over, and just farmed for what felt like an eternity, and still i have just barely gotten over 70.

If this was any other game I would be fine with it, but by boasting about “no grinding” they put themselves out there. I am currently bracing myself for a long grind up to level 80 cause if this is what the low level crafting is like, I wonder what it will be like later on.

It’s not wise to make everyone dependable on such a fickle recourse. It bumps up the prices on AH and forces people to find other ways of getting through the grind.

Ill second this.

Letting us pick weaponskills without actually changing the core game.

But that wouldn’t please both parties. I enjoy the logic behind the skills. I remember when i played wow how much I hated how I could rend with a mace, or stun with a sword. The game in it’s current state is all about what weapon at what time. It’s based around the simple logic “bashing things bash, magic things pew pew”.

Should they remove this simple outline it would revamp the entirety of the game. Suddenly you get something that is really hard to balance. If I understood you correctly you mean that all staff skills are usable for someone with a staff, right? Then you’re proposal can be boiled down to the removal off classes. You aren’t proposing a difference in mechanics, your suggesting a new game.

Every game needs a box to work within, anything else would be ludicrous, especially if you want a shot at the competitive scene.

My point is, the solution wouldn’t suit both parties, it would only suit you. The weapon swapping in itself makes for very different game play, all within the frames of one class. Removing the need to weapon swap would ultimately change the core mechanics of the game. Elementalists can’t swap since they have elements, so what weapon do you bring to the fray? “Oh why, I can just choose from this plethora of skills”.

+1

I was thinking this when I was running around AC with broken gear. “Blue pants? A man of my stature demands red!”

Preferably combined with a achievement if you go through all the instances naked.

1. Camera for sure. I really wish i could scale it back further, and first person view. So many jumping puzzle where you have to jump blindly cause the camera is stuck somewhere else. Or boss fights where you cant see the top of the boss rendering it near impossible to see that hammer drop.

2. Much clearer visual queues for when bosses are about to do a one shot skill. I fought this Champion ghost with a hammer and i had a queue of 0.5 second to dodge away. Thing is, i wasn’t alone and all the skill effects made it impossible to actually know when he was about to strike plus the animation was similar to his regular strikes.
