Playing the same build like the OP, but i suggest compounding power & Confusion cry in the Illusions line…
Scepter/Torch is also not the ideal weapon choice for a shatter-burst-build. Strongly sugest sword/pistol or sword/focus for mobility

@Astus: sounds interesting, can you link the build,pls? I’m working towards p/t/cd gear but have not much playtime this days snief

the reason i chose scepter/torch was for the confusion clone (torch 5) + stealth (torch 4).

as well as the scepter 3.

the issue with confusion/toughness is that it is a passive build, i.e if the target is a low-attacking target such as a back-stab thief, then you are not doing that much damage. and chances are, often times will die before you do significant damage

Changes you might want to consider:
10 Point Dueling (Phantasmal Fury) is changeable

10 Point Illusion (Master of Misdirection) can be changed out with (Precise Wrack).

Caveats
Try to Pick good targets between Cry of Frustraion vs Mind Wrack.

Against slow hitting classes like a Rifle Warrior, or a backstab thief, confusion is not that useful due to the fact that those classes have low skill chains .

Cry of frustration is great against builds that require multiple skills to function i.e D/D eles.

Play Style:

For Single Target: Start with SB’s autho attack (this helps judge the distance between target), when you can consistently hit your target (i.e you are in 900m range):

Switch D/D —> Basilisk -->Steal —> CnD --> Backstab. (target should be dead) Auto attack. —> HS.

Though you might not do much damage as your typical backstab build, you have little bit more versatility to work with

Group Play:

Cluster bomb -> Cluster bomb -> Cluster bomb. (each crits for around 3-4k )

Pros:
+ Massive AoE Capabilities.
+ Great Single target DPS
+ Works with both WvW and PvE

Cons:
- Not as high defensive capabilities as Condition spec
- No Group support

Surprised no one responded yet. I watched the video; I’d recommend showing more ‘action’ honestly but I did like the explanations.

I like that going Condition damage means you’re stacking vitality and toughness in terms of traits.

Conditions are pretty good… I’d actually say your build is more for PvE. I know that’s odd, but the raw damage regardless of being in melee range or not is key to sustained DPS.

I thought of trying it out for WvW, but then realized most people have a condition removal. As thief, I’d wipe the bleeds with the stealth heal. Mind you, it’s stacking good damage just before that, but missing out on 8-10k damage with wiping it clean. Count on dodges for a couple of those Death Blossoms, and it’s not -as powerful- as it seems. I also don’t want to do that on the few classes that can give their conditions to their enemies (Necromancer at least).

Everyone has a different style which is awesome.

One utility critique; I see the Scorpion Wire and know you want it to pull targets back into Caltrops and back into range. But for actual fights it is very gimmicky in that you have so many other ways of getting to the enemy instead. If I were you, I’d switch out for poison, as at least then someone has less a chance of negating all your damage with a condition removal. I love the Scorpion Wire, but I usually just switch to it for specific cases; rarely do I ever need it right then and there. Poison would give you a huge DPS increase.

Please note I really like the build. It’s awesome. Groups of players where you’re hitting multiple people… evading attacks left and right… crazy AOE “in-the-mix” damage. You can go into a large WvW group and destroy their lines from within, then Dagger Storm out (I do this already without the conditions – thus not as effective). You have the toughness and vitality to survive that, and the damage to make them all freak out. Nothing like seeing 10 people ticking away damage while you whirl back to your own group. Was really hoping you were going to show multiple targets when you ran to the AOE training area

i didn’t show that much action because this is version 3, and their were good deal of other bleed videos on my channel that i thought it would be Over kill to show more.

as for scorp, its less about getting to your target, than it is about getting your target onto your caltrops. (especially with the 1 sec KD in SW)

as for poison, its not needed. due to the large stack of bleed + regular damage, your target will die in about 15 secs… poison full duration is 30secs, so 15secs of poison is wasted.

Don’t get me wrong, I think heartseeker is a really cool ability. I just think that the “spamming” of it needs to be fixed somehow. It does huge damage and can be used every second 7 times in a row?

I think the easiest fix is to increase its initiative. It will force people to be more conservative with it.

Also, to people saying to get more skill because this game gives the ability to dodge and such.

In seven seconds, I get 2 dodges and that is IF I had full endurance to start the encounter. As I previously stated, the thief spamming heartseeker gets 7 attacks. On top of that, it auto-follows its target due to the sticky nature of the ability.

7-2= 5 heartseekers averaging even 3k damage (I’ve seen these as high as 6k when below 33%) is still 15k damage. That is enough to wipe out a full hp Guardian, elementalist and take every other class in the game down to below 25%.

Just seems like it needs some work. Don’t get upset because someone has realized that your class has one ability that needs tweaking. I didn’t call thief OP, I said one ability is broken.

please do enlighten us to what else a damage thief can use other than HS?

DB? thats for condition thieves

Crippling dagger? yea perhaps you can cripple them to death.

CnD? right, only usefull every 3 secs, and cost almost 1/2 of your ini.

That leaves auto-attack.

so we should auto-attack to death. gotcha.
