Do Warriors feel different vs Guardians?

in Warrior

In simplest terms:

- Party utility

Guardian: defensive support (Regeneration, Protection, Aegis, Reflects, Stability, Retaliation)
Warrior: offensive support (Might, Fury, Banners)

- Self utility

Guardian: more Aegis, usually easier to handle conditions with
Warrior: more Stability access, poorer condition cleanse unless heavily specced for it

They’re about equal at Stunbreaker access.

- vs. Enemies

Guardian promotes a somewhat more active playstyle in terms of handling pressure with well times Blinds, Aegis, Protection.

Warrior has more of a soak-it-up type playstyle that promotes either pure damage pressure with certain weapons or hard CC with others.
————————————————————————————————————-
Warriors have access to a decent condition build, Guardians dont. Warrior offers a slight edge in damage for PvE content. For WvW, Guardians are support frontliners, Warriors are CC frontliners (in general).

There is definitely some overlap between the classes depending on which weapons are used, which builds are used and which game mode we’re talking about.

But for the most part, they’re different. So much so, that you’re probably missing out if you don’t level both seeing as you’re into heavy melee classes.

I’ve been using Invigorating Precision on my PvE Thief for the past few weeks (S/P set) and i’d like to share my experience with it.

Full Berserker set, 25/30/0/15/0 signet build that revolves around might stacking with runes of Strength.

The trait is absolutely invaluable in Silverwastes or for other hard hitting solo content. You can literally stand in front of every boss in SW and sustain yourself during the whole fight. A single Pistol Whip can heal upwards of 2000 and with bosses that spam attacks a lot all you see is EvadeEvadeEvade and green numbers flying everywhere.

Remember the boss where everyone drops reflects right at the end of the assault? You can “facetank” the whole thing! same goes for every other boss. Not even my guardian or warrior come even remotely close to this level of sustain for such prolonged periods, especially in full Berserker gear.

That being said, for organized dungeons, Executioner reigns supreme obviously. Same probably goes for WvW or sPvP, Exe. or HK. For solo/open world/lazymode content though, this trait is absolutely amazing, particularly with the Sword/Pistol set.

Do rangers need their pets?

You might have some issues dying in the earlier levels, but everyone does. The no.1 thing that will keep you alive in this game, regardless of class or build, is knowledge.
Learn monster attack behaviour, attack patterns, when to dodge or evade, and using your interrupts when needed.

And yes, you need your pets, because they’re like 20-30% of your total damage output and provide excellent utility when needed.

Full zerk ranger, 2 cats, sword/warhorn & GS (because lol bowbear DPS) tearing it up in Tyria for 500h+.

HGH Grenadier - Runes or Ruby orbs?

in Engineer

Hi,

i’m finishing up gear and not sure what to put into armor. I’m an HGH Grenadier with a Rifle (30/0/0/30/10) in Berserker gear and a crapton of Elixirs (2 Utility, 1 Heal, 3 Toolbelt). Base crit chance is 37 or 38% + Fury from Elixir B.

This build allows me to keep around 8-10 Might stacks almost whenever without +Might duration runes (keep in mind that 30 Alchemy = +30% Boon duration by itself).

Now i’m contemplating whether it’s better to get +60% Might duration in runes (i assume that’ll bring me to 15-20 stacks by self buffing on average) or 50 extra power / 6-7 % crit chance and +12% Crit dmg from Ruby Orbs. I’ve also been looking at 6 Runes of Strength for the +5% damage while under might and an extra 90 power.

Which of the options listed do you think is better overall?

Thanks in advance!

P.S.: My engie only plays open world PvE.

Looking for some advice - weapons

Hello,

so i’m leveling up a ranger and need some advice on which weapon combination to use on switch. I’ve decided to use Greatsword as the main weapon.

The build i’m going for:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMAQFARjEVB2JWSWsWCgmCNtkV4w/hW9MQ1TA

Gear will probably be Berserker with a couple of Knight pieces.
No dungeons, no WvW.
No bows. I already have a LB/SB ranger, i want a different leveling experience this time.

What do you think would work best:
- Axe/Axe?
- Axe/Warhorn?
- Sword/Axe?
- Sword/Warhorn?

Main concern i have is tagging mobs in larger events. Also, i really like the sword, but sometimes it gets a bit out of hand when i have a running mob targeted and i start jumping all over the place. I guess you get used to it though.

Thanks in advance, and Go Rangers! ^.^

PvE Staff Ele

Hello everyone,

so i’m contemplating whether to make a staff only ele for PvE and i’m looking for some insight on its playability, strengths and weaknesses.

Here is what i want to do with my ele.

To do:
- Solo PvE content,
- Group world events (Dragons etc.),
- Orr events,
- Map exploration.

Wont see me in:
- WvW,
- Dungeons.

The build:
A – http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEAQFAWhImmbxR4gjEAkHn4CLhCKIKYRRxM7A
or
B – http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEAQFAWhImmbxR4gjDAkHn4CLiCWUeMzO2A

I do not wish to build 30 Fire or anything similar because the Fire tree imo is pretty horrible.

Gear:
- Power/Precision leveling up, Berserker at end
- Magic find on trinkets, runes, sigils.

Basically i want to create an ele that’s strictly for open world content and finding lots of stuff via aoe spam.

So, how would this character fair? Anyone tried something similar, what are your experiences? Thanks in advance!

Hello,

my friend just bought the game via Paypal and recieved a “Transaction Completed” message from Paypal, but has yet to recieve a confirmation email with the serial code from ArenaNet. He purchased the game about an hour ago.

How long does it usually take? Can he create an account without the serial code and start downloading the game client somehow? Does he have to contact support?

Thanks in advance,

Cheers

Advice needed - Healing power

in Guardian

Posted by: Khas.6859

Khas.6859

Hello,

so i’m leveling a Guardian and i’m in doubt regarding Healing power. I’m wondering how much is enough and whether its worth building around it. It’s my first character that is looking into this specific stat.

Some background for my Guardian:

- Strictly solo PvE (no dungeons, no WvW)
- Main weapon: Greatsword, 2nd hand Staff, Scepter + Focus in inventory
- Build i’m going to use – link (http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUAQFARlYgiC33RLEfIFRuA7DEETBGh/1DK6QGC)
- Playstyle: Rampaging maniac AKA “You can never aggro enough mobs”

Given the above, i’m obviously looking for sustainability in prolonged fights, but also something to lean back on in shorter, “burstier” fights with several monsters.

Anyways, i got my eyes set on Knight’s armor, but i’m unsure whether to use Sapphire shards for the extra Healing power or just roll with some Runes/Ruby orbs, maybe go with Cleric’s armor…or whether i even want extra Healing power? x.x

Any advice much appreciated, thanks in advance.
