I do have to admit, this is one of the things that have really drawn me to the Norn. Originally, I was iffy on them, but more and more I’m finding I favor them over the other races. One of my favorite phrases is “By the Power of Me! heh heh”.
My wife loves them due to her having an affinity for both the Valkyrie and Norse culture, and the Amazons.

So my wife really loved playing healers and support characters back when we used to play WoW, and in fact her favorite toon was a holy paladin. Well, she’s wanting to play something similar in GW2, but recognizes that there are no dedicated healers. But she still enjoys healing when she can and loves buffing and support, and still wearing heavy armor if possible, but isn’t a fan of the Guardian class.
Thus my question is, can the Warrior be built as a heavy support/healer type character and still be viable? What sort of build would be required to achieve this and what weapons would be best to use?

I don’t get why people claim mounts will make the world seem smaller. Only if they add in flying mounts that can travel at incredible speeds would this work. But adding in land mounts that travel at normal or slightly faster speed than unmounted speed, wouldn’t make the world smaller.
In fact, mounts could be added as a sort of “offhand” weapon. Like heavy mounts could have a shield and charge option, while light mounts could have a trample and speed burst option or something. Introduce a new “one-handed” lance that can only be used while mounted and let bows be used while mounted as well, but only on light mounts, or special “archery” mounts, otherwise, only single-handed weapons could be used.

This website has what I consider a classic ranger look that I would love for my character:

This game really needs quivers and cloaks, more hoods (for all armor types, but mainly medium), scarf headslots and eyepatches, and quiver/cloak combos like you see on so many ranger types in media.
Maybe even a hip quiver option for those that use two-handed weapons? A quiver and backpack combo item would be great too, and the ultimate, a quiver/backpack/cloak option for the archer on the go.
Big thing is, quivers, I need it, I want it, I would spend money on it. You could make them backslot items, maybe custom skins you can buy on the gem store to apply to your backslot item.

That would be a nice option…

I agree with this. The hair accessory item, like the headband one of the Norn men can wear too, should be an option to change after creation with dye.

Maybe the Norn changed it to Jotun when they went with the ‘new’ language that everyone speaks… Ya know, how many words in other languages are mispronounced in English, like Caesar (pronounced Kaiser). Oh and if you really want to get picky, its Jötunn.

I kinda wish they would allow at least head slot town clothing to be transmuted for combat gear. Look at the sunglasses after all, wouldn’t it be awesome to have them as a head slot for your combat gear?

Ya know, when I first started playing I thought dyes WERE account bound. So on like my second day of playing, I get the coveted Black dye on my Guardian. Well, I was still tweaking with my toon, not happy with him. So I deleted said Guardian not long after learning the Black dye. To my horror, I find out the dyes aren’t account bound after all and I lost out.
I have tried putting in a ticket but apparently Anet “remain unable to replace or reimburse them for this incident. We simply do not have the tools or system to do so.” or so they say.
Well that’s my tale of woe and supreme noobiness. Really put a damper on my mood, even after buying the CE version. Ah well…
So to sum up, yes, dyes should be account bound, at least the rarer ones.

I approve of all of this. I’d love to have a black wolf, a lion or a griffon for my Ranger… I know my wife would salivate at a phoenix pet.

I was just thinking this… it’d be a great idea.

As I said in another quiver wanting post, they should do it, and let it be a backslot item that gives buffs like any other piece of armor, like the backpacks and backbraces. And to help with the classic ranger look, have a quiver over a ‘cape’ like design would be awesome as well.

Hopefully they’ll add it in for hair/beard recustomization soon, and without any gem price, just a small cash fee ala WoW, or at least, a very minor gem charge. I know a lot of people that would change their hair style at the drop of a hat in WoW, due to boredom or for RP reasons.

Yeah I found out about this when I was talking about a hand-and-a-half sword, aka a kitten sword… quite amusing.
- Friedrich Nietzsche -
Though I do have to say, wielding a kitten sword would be pretty awesome.

I would love a griffon, or, the more possible, a warg. A big black warg like what Eir has, or at least, a normal solid black wolf.

Aragorn uses a hand and a half sword (it wouldn’t let me use the normal b-word term for it… replaced it with kitten? kitten sword, really?), which is a sword that can be used one or two handed, something this game lacks. However, he normally used it in two hands.
What I want is a ranger that can use two swords like one of the most iconic rangers about, Drizzt (and no, I’m not a Drizzt fanboy, I just love the idea of dual wielding).

I would love a quiver as a back slot item. That way you could get the visual appeal of it (and admit it, they are smexy), and it would be useful as an item.
You could even do a quiver/cloak combo, with the quiver on the outside, which is a fairly classic look for many rangers.
