I think its a good theme for a healer/soul summoner minion hybrid.
Necromancers with the new blood line would extremely benefit from a healing/support spec. It would also open us to a new role in group content, one which many have asked for since launch.
Na, It still lets you combo amazing with reaper shroud 2 + 4. All that chill and that mini stun.
You should be using it to start a fight not finish it

If they do 170 this entire thing was a waste of development money.
Look at how much effort has gone into developing this. Would it make sense for most of your work to benefit only a few people? I guarantee you there were plenty of people who tested the elites and do not have 170 HPs sitting around. Should we now give up those tracks we fell in love with?
I am working towards 100 on all of my characters. I am placing my money between 85 and 90 but want to give myself a cushion.
I agree, 250 is a joke to unlock everything.
No possible way that’s the final price.

Just checked my mesmer only has 211 hero points with main map completion and wvw map completion. The second highest is my ranger at 100. Requiring 170 is definitely too much.
I agree, I’m worried they will get carried away with the hero point cost. I know its supposed to feel epic to get it, but 170 is a bit high.
100-120 is much more acceptable while still needing 50%~ map completion.

I was thinking 120, since a normal spec line costs 60 to max out. It would be twice that or something.

I wish they would tell us, I want to know how many more points I need to get or if I can finally stop.
I don’t have much time to play and getting hero points is like the only thing I do as of now.
Three things:
Greatsword auto #3 is too slow.
“Chilled to the bone” needs a slight buff for all its disadvantages
Greatsword 5 could use a slight 100 range buff..
Otherwise reaper is really fun and feels really solid.
I think Roy instead wants it to be an added damage to your DPS. This way you are not always auto attacking.
I think increasing the range to 500-600 would be fine though since then we could use it as a combat opener.
Oh S**t, Dragon!
Playing the last beta weekend I had a large amount of fun playing the Rev, despite some things felt weak. With the recent changes, including buffs and tweaks to the auto attack animation, the Revenant profession has quickly become my favorite. ArenaNet, and Roy specifically, have done such a good job making the class feel fun and addressing its concerns.
Now I can’t wait for the Rev to be released or another beta weekend to play again!
You can already have near 24/7 up time with invocation by itself.
You have two heals, and can switch legends back and forth every 10 seconds.
Awesome changes. Thanks Roy you the best
That is one of the changes, you’ll see soon™.
This just confirms that Roy is in fact our boy
You work so kitten fast dulfy
Glint seems like an amazing overall support. I think everyone will be happy when they see a Revenant in Glint stance, and it has a great combo with the other legends.
Roy also made some really good changes overall, anyone else notice the fury buff to 40% more crit chance?, and the fact that we now have an evade on sword #3.
I think Reveannt might be in a really good place right now.
What the heck Shiro?
Why are you such a jerk when your summoned but when killing stuff say stuff like
“Together we have no equal”
Can we have please remove the most unfitting line in Shiro’s dialogue? I know hes supposed to be a super bad kitten and all, but the line just does not work with the other things he says.
And to be honest I’d rather him act like a Bro then a jerk (leave the being a jerk to the demon)
I edited my OP to add a little changes. But overall my feelings stayed consistent throughout the beta weekend.
I still think Revenant is an awesome class though!
I was thinking about this, at first I though giving 3 an evade would make utility 1 a lot less of an important skill. However thinking about it a bit more, I came to the conclusion that’s two different issues. Revenants are already super squishy, having more then one skill to dodge combat is fine. And Utility 1 is overpriced as heck anyway.
I’d like to add that an idea I came up with, playing with the Rev a bit more. I think we could gain a fair amount of sustainability be lowering the cost of utility 1, as right now jumping in and out of battle with utility’s almost costs as much as an ultimate. I think reducing the endurance gained would also help keep it balanced.
I think part of the low damage on rev is because they see overwhelming odds are efficiently X2 your dps.
However thats not dps, that’s burst damage.
Compared to thief’s its even less burst damage, and right now I feel even squishier then a theif when playing revenant.
So we have less DPS, Burst, and sustainability then Theif?

I agree mostly with opening post.
I don’t like the healing skill though. I feel it doesn’t heal enough personally. Or something is off. Sword 1 and 3 are best. Sword 4 Part 1 is amazing but Part 2 needs a buff. Sword 2 needs a buff. Sword 5 is good but you have to know to use 5 first and then 3 to get back to the enemy.
The Utility skills are very much utility. That said, they are all passable.
Yeah playing a bit more, I think a little bit more to healing would help a lot.
If you are close enough to use #2, you can practically auto attack.
I agree with Kidel, I do more damage with an auto attack for free. Sword #2 is in a bad spot right now
“Plus, the full auto attack combo is very clunky feeling and the animations seem to be a mix of animations just thrown messily together in a combo. It doesn’t feel fluid. It feels ugly.”
Wow I couldn’t agree more, I thought maybe I was just being picky. I agree 100% with the auto attack needing an animation revamp.
I never used sword #2 (Prep Strike), I tried to add it into my rotations a bunch of different ways but overall it just feels useless. I think a range buff so we can open combat with it would be a good start.
Sword #3 is overall a great and cool skill. A little buff in damage would be welcome though, but the might building is great.
I thought Sword #4 would be the ability I never use, but I got to say that block is pretty handy, but the Part 2 of the ability I found to be a little too weak, and I’d rather use sword 5 then the second part of the skill since it accomplishes practically the same thing; with better synergy with sword #3.
Sword #5 is great, when it works, but I found for such a high cooldown it does so little damage.
I think a common theme for Sword is trying to justify using skills over just using auto attack for damage.
For Shiro:
Healing skill is fine, it works and I didn’t have any problems with it. I think overall its in a good position. If not needing a 50% reduction on the in skill cool-down.
Utility 1; This skill is great no question, but maybe reducing the energy cost to 25-30 would be more cost effective. I know how strong this skill is but 35 energy is gigantic.
Utility 2: Lets me start combat and chase down anyone. Awesome utility
Utility 3: Despite super speed not making me go faster then sonic, Its an amazing burst skill. (Plus its super fun to use)
Ultimate: Overall my impressions were good but it depended a lot on the situation; which is fine, it’s an amazing stun when you get it off. Just when Roy fixes the might stacking bug he does not make it use energy until the skill is cast. It gets interrupted way to often.

Tomorrow's PoI: What do you want to know about Pact Commander masteries?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: KingFarout.1092
If its not too late
Do you get any titles for completing the mastery ranks?
“Pack Commander” would be a cool title.
Not to diss the thread but what’s it really matter? You can have any weapon at level 2.
But i do agree with the options u choose, or sword would be fine, anything but mace.
Because for a lot of people when they first pick a profession the first experience they have is playing just with the auto attack. So having a unique feeling starting weapon is important.
Plus I really don’t want the mace…
I disagree completly, it feels awful being stuck to just melee or just ranged. Just Tank/heal or just DPS. The ability to adapt to situations is a core part of all specializations. Engis have a variety of support and damaging kits. But they still can use both in the same combat instance, Same with eles, you could go from pure damage to assisting in healing, to crowd control.
Revs just don’t have that with one weapon and two legends.
My vote goes to either Staff or Hammer for the weapon you start with when you make a new character.
Why?
Because no other heavy armor profession is using either of them.
Warriors start with Sword.
Guardians already start with Mace.
…And With Ranger already starting with a two handed weapon its not a huge leap to introduce the same thing for a Revenant.
And if we keep following the Trend it only makes sense: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Starting_equipment
A commander/Boss type
Someone who looks and deserves all the amazement the NPC’s are giving him, and until finishing HOT will look like a Orr Veteran.
Honestly they should just make it do something on Crit
I was thinking “On critical hit add 1 second to all enemys condition times”
Internal cool down of 3 seconds.
Would let you get some extra stacks for a lot of things.
Its gonna be Glint, just because I’m guessing we are going to find her egg and hatch another friendly dragon.
I’m also going to guess Glint is the one who taught Revenants how to talk to the mists, and Rytlock is trying to find her egg in exchange or something.
Edit: Ohh you mean after glint. Well I would say Scarlet and give revs the Rifle. It would kind of be funny getting one of the most hated people in guild wars back so soon.
mine is: “Arch Revenant”
(snip)
That’s a good opinion too actually, its a road, people do walk faster on roads after all
Heres my idea for a “commander” rev
I usually try to imagine characters as heroes, unique, but inspired by the faction they are in.
I’ve yet to have one who trys to fill the “pact commander” role.
I think I tried with the fierce look, the bulky armor, and the dual swords, to really sell the idea that hes someone to fear in combat.
Overall I like the look a lot, but I think the helm makes him look a bit too evil/dark.
I’ve done some math too. Rage is prob the best choice for most people.
As for Sigils I’m looking at Sigil of Air and Sigil of Force as they seem like a pretty decent PvE setup for dual swords.
I feel like the best and simplest fix would be just reduce energy drain outside of combat
Make it a passive called like
“Dragons Mediation” – When out of combat energy costs for all draining skills are reduced by 1 drain per second. Dragon skills cost 30% less energy upfront also when out of combat.
Boom, you have an elite passive that effects all rev skills, and works with Glints skill set being able to cast your dragon skills out of combat to boost your ally’s before you enter a fight.
I got to say I completely agree with this, I feel like adding it to Invocation only makes sense tho since almost all revs will prob spec into it. How about we make is a 4 second swiftness after using a legend skill.
Edit: or we can maybe a passive to traits, if used out of combat, skills that cost energy regen use 1 less energy. Boom we now have 12.5 seconds of speed, That would make it feel a little better.

I’m level 9 right now, but whenever I fight it seems I always have just enough health to survive and feel like I’m just randomly spamming ability’s. Does anyone have advice? I want to know what combos there are and what skills to use. I really like ele and I’d hate to have to reroll.
