Holy Trinity Contradiction

For example… What if I wanted to tank as an elementalist? The low health pool coupled with the stats of light armor would not even compare to that of a warrior.
This suggests that the devs still want professions to play out in a particular way.

Simply put, I believe bolded just isn’t true. Amor and health are from a lore + balance perspective. Not a role perspective. This is quite obvious really, considering Anet actively promoted the “no trinity!”-part. And as said, quite frankly ele’s can “tank”.
Now when Anet has no role perspective yet players perceive the roles to be there, how come?
Option 1: the roles are just factually there. Guardians are tanking, mesmers are dps’ing, or whatever roles you can come up with. Is this the case? No…..
Option 2: Indoctrination of the players. Looks like this is the case to me.

tl;dr trinity is only there if you believe it is.

I think what OP means is that while all classes do all three roles, still some classes can do it better. A warrior has a easier time tanking mobs then a elementalist, just like how a guardian is a better support class then a thief.

According to the NO trinity system, this should mean that my support thief is just as good as a guardian (aside from player-skill that is). Yet if you see the stats, armor and skills, its pretty obvious that Guardian was intended as a Tankish/Healer class while the Thief has more dps focused skills. I think this is what OP was trying to point out.

I am a female Norn Guardian. The reason why I love being a Norn Guardian is because of the animation. The way the female Norn holds her Greatsword or Staff while in combat is so much better then a Human female Guardian.

You should see a Human female Guardian with a Greatsword, its pretty weird how they swing it (Sylvari has the same animation as human female).

I’m surprised nobody has linked this yet https://www.gw2lfg.com/ although predominantly used for fractal groups at the moment there are people on there looking for story and explorable modes of other dungeons. Means you can draw a party from beyond your own server.

That is because OP has already said that he/she has already used it, but could not find a group.

Why so many Guardians/Warriors? :O

One of the things that I love about the Warrior and Guardian is that they have a buff via a skill that gives them X amount of HP per Y seconds, this in combination with heavy armour and high damage, makes those classes a great leveling professsions.

Why do most of you prefer to play alone?

I play alone only when I am online for few hours. As a student with a part-time job, I can not be online for alot of hours and I can not be online alot during schooldays.

It wouldnt be fair to others if I had to leave during a event or a dungeon and that is the reason why I often play solo. In the weekends or holidays, I will group alot, but for the rest of the year, its solo only.

I remember in another mmorpg, alot of times players would just leave during a dungeon, I know how it feels on the receiving end and this is why I do not group, unless I am sure that I will finish the dungeon/event etc with the group.

Just started playing and leveling...

Hello Langley,

I just started playing aswell and I have to agree with few of your comments about certain classes. I have to agree that Warrior and Guardians are very easy to play with, they did not require alot of input on my part and it was one of the reasons, why I deleted those classes.

I did find it strange that classes like Mesmer, Elementalist and Necromancer had to use alot of skills to get the same results as a Warrior or Guardian. If you are a Warrior in PvE content, there is hardly any use of switching a weapon, since signet spec with number 2* skill of the greatsword kills everything in its path.

I just made a thief and while the thief is not a underpowered class, I do like that I am required to use stealth skills and dodge to survive. So far I am almost level 25 and its fun. The only downside is the shortbow is intended as our main AOE weapon, but it feels so bad.

I was told by a guildmate that using the 1hsword+gun/staff is a nice leveling weapon for mesmers.

I think the rotation was something along of: Chaos Field —-—> Chaos Armor —-→ Phase Rethreat then switch to sword/gun —→ Frenzy somthing.

A experienced Mesmer will probaly help you more. Hang in there and have a fun time in Guild Wars 2

New necromancer looking for some answers.

Hello everyone,

I just joined this game and made a Necromancer, because it felt like the right class for me.

I just became level 21 and I have a full con dmg gear from tailoring. My weapons are a scepter/dagger+staff for making lots of dots. I have noticed that my healing pet (the first one that you get) dies alot and dies pretty fast.

I dodge and try to heal myself, but it feels like everything that I do is just wrong. So my guildmates adviced me to come here and ask some questions.

1) What is the ideal setup (build, skills, weapons) to have a leveling build where I can survive? Because I tried soloing a veterens and I get killed, but my warrior and guardian guildmates can kill the veteren without losing much hp.

2) How is the necromancer at endgame? I have known from reading other class forums on other mmorpgs, that almost everyone thinks that their class is underpowered. Is the necromancer underpowered, or is everyone whining?

3) Can I be a support necromancer? If the answer is yes, how?

4) How is WvWvW as a Necromancer, will I have a fair chance in a 1vs1?

5) Is it true that bleeds and other dots have a limit on them? If the answer is yes, why would the developers put such a restriction on a class that does alot of dots.

Thank you for helping me.

We dont need gear as reward, the raid could give us new type of skins or titels.

If they add few my suggestions, then I think alot of players would do the raid, just for fun. There is no reason to make this raid into a lootfest.

“Survival” is getting experience without dying.

Thanks for explaining that part. I guess it depends how much experience would should get without dying. Since in WvWvW most players die alot, so I am curious how much experience we should accumulate before we compleet that part.

I hope OP responds, because the dailies are a little bit stale.

I think the whole go back to World of Warcraft lines is bit too silly. Most of us are playing this game because we…… want to play Guild Wars 2 and not World of Warcraft, so please troll elsewhere.

In my opinion more content is a good thing, but add some Guild Wars 2 flavor to it. Make it so before you can unlock the raid, we have this storyline that concluds with us (the players) at the big castle, cave, kicking some bad guys behind.

The raid could have alot of fun features:

  • Real puzzels, not the jump ones, but puzzels like the ones in dungeon and dragons.
  • Branching story, if you pick option A, you battle boss Y and you get ending X etc, which gives the players a reason to do the raid again and be supprised by the outcome.
  • More teamwork, make players split off in to halls and they need to compleet a objective to get one part of a key etc.
  • Special raid only mounts where you use it to escape a sitation with a timer or use it to battle a boss etc.

I have to agree with Counciler, I rather have a romance storyline then a NPC that flirts with me.

They could put in a option to have kids, like the Fable series, with a homes etc.

As a new Charr, Black Citadel looked big at first, but after walking around I find it easier to navigate then The Grove.

In my opinion the easist cities to navigate from easy to hard is:

1: Rata Sum
2: Divinity reach
3: Black Citadel
4: Hoelbrak Stead
5: The Grove

I agree with Diknak. I would love to have a off-combat weaponswap. This way I dont need to manual equip and I will have space for more stuff in my bags. This is not gamebreaking, since I am not in a combat.

I suggest that the engineer gets the same stuff.

I agree with this suggestion, Panaromic. One thing that should be noted is, remove the requirement to WIN a PvP, since wining a battle means you need to depend on the skill and teamwork of your fellow groupmembers and not yourself.

I do not understand what you mean with, Survival? Survive a dungeon? Survive a event? Could you please explain this part?

Other then those points, your suggestion is a good one.
