You need the exotics to unlock the ascended versions. You could have unlocked them through the reward tracks as well.

Not the T1 exotics, the T2 ones. You can buy T2 in either exotic or ascended form for the same ticket cost.

I already had some ascended wvw armour so I bought the T2 exotics for the skins. Had I known about this I would have bought the ascended instead.

Hey Grant and McKenna, that’s great news.

Just one quick question: If you bought the Exotic version of the WvW Triumphant Hero’s Armor and transmuted another piece of regular Ascended armor with the skins, are you able to convert it to legendary armor?

Because the cost of tickets to get the Exotic version is the same of the Ascended and a lot of people (myself included) already bought the Exotic version just to unlock the skins and transmuted other Ascended pieces to it.

I really hope there will be a way to upgrade or trade the exotic T2 armour for the ascended version. I’m in this situation too.

I’ve mostly been playing the Blackwater style build too (20/20/30/0/0). All the stealths and conditions and trolling potential is just what I wanted from my mesmer right from the very beginning. Plus, it’s easy to swap to Staff/GS for things like camps.

I used to run 20/20/10/0/20 GS/Staff.

There’s also some rabid armour and trinkets available from the temple karma vendors. Not a full set alas.

I had that happen with the western Queensdale chest, it was already open.

I loved my mesmer but I’ve just stopped playing GW2 entirely because of how ANet simply don’t seem to know what they’re doing and I don’t trust them to be competent any more.

Have to wonder if you have read the patch notes? The Ele had one of their builds completely nerfed full stop (see Evasive Arcana). The only item the Ele had “buffed/fixed” were tooltip typos.

Indeed. It’s particularly annoying since my two main characters were a GS/Staff mesmer and a Staff ele. I don’t have any motivation to play either of them right now.

The other major problem is the potential it has for MASS character movement, and the corresponding huge culling problems with that. This is also easily fixed, simply by adding a limiter on the number of people able to use the portal. Set it to go away after 10 uses, or something like that, and the problem is fixed.

Wouldn’t a better solution be to fix the culling bug?

Ran in to this alot last night. loss of line of sight target breaking should be thought of as a solution for this. For an eli or necro, our direct to target burns or chills ect… respond back with “obstructed”. so why is this not the case for Mesmer?

The Berserker is an aoe phantasm, not a direct to target one.
Besides, on my ele I have no trouble hitting targets I can’t see with my aoes. Why should my mesmer be any different?

Let me get this straight. You’re demanding a nerf to a skill because it tickles a bug in the engine code even though anet have already said they’re working on a fix for the engine code?

My own guild has one and I sometimes drop in on IRONs. Now I’m supposed to join three?

I believe that all sigils with a cooldown share the same cooldown, including interal cooldowns. That means on-crit and on-weapon-swap sigils don’t work together.

So Battle, Hydromancy and Fire all conflict. Once one procs, none of the others will until the cooldown is up.

Armor/Trinket Set: This is the last part, that I personally haven’t completely figured out yet. I agree Power/Vitality/Toughness should be the main stats..followed by Condition Damage and Healing Power….but exactly how to break it down / distribute these points…I have no idea. Getting the most out of your points is key and avoiding any serious diminishing returns is also important…if anyone runs some tests/theory crafts the Armor/Trinket stats for PvE/WvW – let me know what you find out.

This is the bit that I’m wondering about too. Especially since I also play staff and can’t afford two sets of gear yet. Though admittedly both weapon sets do both kinds of damage. Hmm.

The problem was that no matter how often people typed not to, every so often someone would come along and repair our wall. This meant if we were pushing out to take down some enemy siege or just a little overextended, then some random could put up the wall, split our force and cause us to get wiped as well as force the enemy to group up until the wall falls back down, making it much easier for them to take the garrison. We managed to hold on in the end, though the enemy got close a couple of times.

Heh, I was standing on that wall and some of my guildies got caught in exactly that way.

But yeah, I know what you mean. I just got annoyed after seeing people from big guilds describe randoms and pugs as worthless in map chat a couple day ago.

You don’t have to be in a big hardcore guild to be taken seriously, but you can’t deny the value of a well coordinated team, and that having people listen in teamspeak is always going to be far better coordinated than trying to type in commands and hoping people actually notice them.

I’m aware of that, I’m in a guild that likes to do small hit and run stuff and sneak attacks wherever the main force isn’t

Nobody is a second class citizen, but it is just a simple fact that the more you coordinate with the main force on a map, the more you are contributing.

I’ve seen a few discussions where people talk about “randoms” in the same way they’d talk about something they’d had to scrape off the sole of their shoe.

I don’t like being treated as a second class citizen for not being in a big, hardcore guild, especially given that I’m in WvW almost every day (night).

As for why I’m not in a big, hardcore guild; been there, done that, not going to put up with that again.

I was intending to go knight armour, valkyrie accessories and a berserker staff. Given the above information, would it be worth switching to carrion accessories & rampager staff? This will be mostly for WvW & solo pve.

Curiously this is the third time in a couple of days I’ve seen elementalists be described as doing best with a mixed set of stats. I have to wonder if that’s true in general.

So people are asking for a nerf on an ability because it can be used in conjunction with an exploit?

Why not, you know, ask for the exploit to be fixed instead? Or does that make too much sense?

I’ve noticed that mesmers are a really strong counter to glass cannon builds.
