Dailies HURT Casuals, Not Help

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Let me explain.

Taking a “casual” as in, is generally busy IRL and doesn’t have as much time to play as other players, if everything was time gated DAILY, meaning to keep up progress you have to log in literally every single day, then this actually hurts the casual player more than a “hardcore” player that has more time to play.

This is because someone who is actually busy IRL may not be able to log in to play literally every day, they may have to skip a day or 2 quite regularly, especially if you’re working like 60+ hours a week on top of other responsibilities, logging on every day to do your daily activities becomes a huge PITA.

Even I, as someone with plenty of time to play find Dailies to be a huge PITA, that constant nagging of “you have to log on now if you don’t want to lose progress” is a bad feeling.

Here’s a very simple suggestion Anet, I hope you can make it work too. Let “daily credit” stack up to x7. So each day you get a “daily credit” which gets spent on your daily activities. If you skip a day or two, those credits stack up so on the third day you could log in and get 3 dailies done in that day instead.

This lets you make up for lost time, this is a very simple system even Rift has and it’s fantastic, one of my favorite features. Anet could implement this for everything, Daily achievement, dungeons/meta events, etc. You would just need to have a UI element somewhere to keep track of this like :

Tequatl : x3 dailies remaining

Ascalon Catacombs P1 : x2 dailies remaining.

Ascalon Catacombs P2 : x1 dailies remaining.

Ascalon Catacombs P3 : x1 dailies remaining.

Etc.

If you imagine, you have a very, very busy week and only get to log on maybe on a Tuesday evening to play, you get a daily done and you’re off. Skip ahead to Saturday, you finally have some free time to play hard, you’ve managed to acquire x5 daily credits for everything and plow through them on your weekend off, no stressing.

A Game Isn't Built in a Day

It ain’t built in a year either by the looks of it.

And that’s cute, whipping out the high horse to berate people for being cynical and bitter, despite the fact that people have given tons of feedback, but when the game has stagnated for so long you can only be so hopeful…. so..

Let Ascended Weapon Replace Precursors

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Slightly crazy idea, but since Ascended weapons are supposed to “bridge the gap” between legendaries and exotics AND since people want craftable precursors and all that jazz, how about making precursors ascended weapons that can be crafted.

Or rather let ascended weapons replace precursors in the Legendary “recipe”.

Something like that. 2 birds 1 stone.

Precursors would still be that “luck” factor to let you finish the legendary faster.

Edit : Here’s an updated idea.

Recipe : Ascended Weapon + 3 other mats = Account Bound/Ascended version of a precursor.

The 3 other mats could either just be more expensive mats that in total make this craftable precursor worth about 500g or so.

Or the 3 other mats could be account bound items that you have to earn through a bunch of difficulty content so it’s like an actual “quest” and isn’t just as simple as tossing gold at it.

Then you would have a nice flow :

1.) Hit 80
2.) Buy Exotic (and use it til you get mats for your Ascended Weapon)
3.) Craft Ascended Weapon (and use it til you get the 3 other mats for precursor)
4.) Craft Asc. Precursor (and use it til you get mats for legendary)
5.) Craft Legendary

Now you have a nice flow from exotic to ascended to precursor to legendary…. It’s not about making it cheaper or easier to get, but it’s much less infuriating and is more rewarding this way and has a nice flow.

Upper Half of UI should be scalable

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

It drives me nuts having a massive HP bar for my target and a giant UI window for like 5 events on the upper right of my screen that I have no way of shrinking (no I don’t mean minimizing).

I just wish there were better UI scaling in the settings, I have it set to lowest but that only really helped for my action bars. Really not sure why we can’t just 0-100% scale them like most games, not even asking for really in depth UI customization where you can drag UI elements, just scaling.

It becomes a really big problem (well annoyance) when fighting bigger mobs like bosses and you can’t even see them or my dmg numbers because of the UI, and since Anet insists on having these claustrophobic cameras in place on our characters I can’t really work around it.

Not to mention when you need to pay attention to telegraphs (the good few that even exist in the game =p)

Could this be made into a +20 levels instead incase you don’t have any alts below 20?

I’d be super grateful.
