1. I run fractals, and I wanted Thaumanova. It sounds more unpredictable – I think the dev team has room to be extra creative.
2. I wanted Ellen Kiel because it’s potentially more entertaining to watch a non-politician be a politician – I think Gnashblade would’ve just fit right in with the rest of them.

Yeah, I give up for now. Going to do the kites instead.
His “Water” seems to heal for about 2.5 "Drink"s worth…while my “Water” heals for about 0.8 "Drink"s worth. This is pretty key. He can just straight outlast me.
Got lucky and cancelled two of his "Water"s…still only got him down to about 10%. Dang.

I was pretty upset yesterday when I spent an hour or so trying to finish this JP only to die over and over again to griefers.
But then I took a step back from my computer and remembered where I was.
If you’re not allergic to dungeons, you can actually get the mini without doing this JP, as long as you can kill the first boss in the dungeon (if my math is correct).

There are a few classes that could be added at some point, but none of them feel jarringly absent at this point:
Arcane Knight (Soldier)
Bard (Adventurer)
Priest (Scholar)Otherwise, more weapons and perhaps new races are where it’s at.
Bard? I’ve played a bard (in another game). Had to turn my sound off to prevent insanity.
Hmmm…new classes. Would have to be:
Monk
Lancer

or does the swap from a kit (flamethrower for instance) to pistol/shield count as weapon swap as well, regarding this animation? Haven’t tested.
Yes, I have the shield skin on my engineer as well, and the swap from the kit triggers the full animation.

Amazing. So very entertaining. A great change of pace.

Yes, this new content is fantastic. Please please keep it alive and keep adding to it.
Main: Crossandra (Mesmer)
It’s fantastic. So great.

The new WvW titles should be viewable by allies. I could care less
what my enemy sees.
You don’t like the idea of equipping a low-experience title like “WvW Newb” and humiliating the enemy?

The dragons.
Lol, but seriously I’d like to see more White Mantle.
Main: Crossandra (Mesmer)
It’s simple – ANET just needs to decide if the extra money from the sale of the keys (vs selling the skins for gems outright) is worth the cost of irritating a large % of their player base. So far it seems like it is.
Main: Crossandra (Mesmer)
Another example: Necromancer elites. Almost everyone I’ve seen uses the Flesh Golem (even non-minion builds) because, once again, the other elites (transforms) are way to weak to use. They look like they should be fun, but they’re not, because they don’t drastically affect the fight (which they should, given their 3-minute cooldowns).

Ah, skins, true. Forgot about those. I believe the primeval/profane/krytan armor skins can be applied to PVP.

Not that I know of. You can look through the list of items here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gem_Store
It stays pretty well-updated, but it seems to be missing yesterdays additions.

Leave the 10-second duration, cut the cooldown to 160 seconds (about 75%). That’s my opinion, anyway. Still cuts the effectiveness of the ability by 25% (in a long fight). For quick encounters the effectiveness would still be cut by 50%.
Main: Crossandra (Mesmer)
I’d just like to remind ArenaNet of one thing. Keep the game fun. You have been doing well so far, but you seem to be heading in a direction that’s less fun. Big abilities with long cooldowns should have a big effect on the fight. That’s what makes them fun.
If you are mainly seeing complaints about a skill in sPVP, you can address it in sPVP. You’ve already demonstrated that you can buff/nerf abilities exclusively in the sPVP gametype (see engineer’s grenades).
Now, Quickness was a very powerful buff, and I understand the nerf. It’s OK – it does help balance (I still feel it needs to last longer or have less of a cooldown to make up for it, but that’s just me). But every class with a Quickness-granting ability now has that ability in a form that much less fun.
The elites in this game, I feel, are mostly too weak to be fun to use. For example, my norn warrior can shapeshift or grow larger, but at a severe loss to both utility and damage. Her best “elite” skill is an extra boost of fury, might, and swiftness – which while useful isn’t fun to use.
In summary, please watch your nerfs – make sure they keep the spirit of fun alive. I don’t mind having an ability on a 10-minute cooldown as long as it does something awesome. The key isn’t getting rid of powerful abilities, it’s giving more powerful abilities to opposing enemies and professions.

Just read the post by Linsey Murdock. I was having so much fun running dungeons too. Now I’m going to be stuck behind “Must need x level of agony resistance to join party for dungeon run.” sigh

(I’m against implementing a new tier of gear. Especially this early. Maybe ONE new tier of gear a YEAR would be OK.)

My main alts are an Engineer and a Warrior. They are a good change of pace from the mesmer. I do have a melee Elementalist build that I’m working on though…
Main: Crossandra (Mesmer)
Lol, that was great. You should start spouting “LFG Arah EM” in the map channel.

This is how it’s set up in my brain:
Tier 2: Doable with normal play.
Tier 3: Pray that RNG becomes your friend someday.

I suspect we’re going to see a LOT more of the Largos.

Took me about 90 mins to get it right. So awesome…loved it.

I’m just glad I was warned before I went out and bought keys.
Main: Crossandra (Mesmer)
Interesting. I’m glad to hear that melee isn’t necessarily SOL for this fight. Was he not sending the AOE projectiles into melee for you guys (they leave a fire ‘well’ on the ground)?

I’m trying to 100% the Straits of Devastation before moving onto the other zones in Orr (lvl 76 Mesmer), and I find the respawn timers to be prohibitive to soloing the content. These timers seem to be much faster than other zones I’ve worked in – not sure if the other zones in Orr have similarly aggressive respawn timers or not.
For example: I tried to solo the Balthazar skill point. I killed off the 2-3 “Risen” enemies in the area and then activated the skill point (it spawns a veteran and 2 lesser enemies). Before I could kill off one of the lesser enemies, one of the “Risen” enemies respawned and wiped me out from behind. Subsequent attempts allowed me to kill everything but the veteran – attempting to kill the veteran would put me in a fight long enough for all the “Risen” enemies in the area to respawn (the fight drags on because I have to keep switching targets to the new adds). Eventually the veteran and respawning “Risen” overwhelm and kill me.
I had issues elsewhere as well – I just thought that was the best example. Is this by design? Is it supposed to require a group to get 100% map completion?
Note: Not sure if this is the correct forum for this post, please move if appropriate.

If you’re asking for more locations, I have one (happened yesterday):
In Sector Zuhl I teleported into a rock in the final cave (the circular one with the boss). Hard to explain which rock, but I’ll try: If you run from the chest toward the center of the room and keep running straight past the center, it’s the big rock you run into.
I eventually got out with Blink, but the chest was non-interact-able by then (you may want to look into that chest also – a few people in the area were complaining about it).
Main: Crossandra (Mesmer)
my suggestion is :
If you stand next to a way point you get 50% off to all waypoints out of your zone and 75% off to all waypoints in your current zone.
That’s an interesting idea. I’d still prefer a big nerf to the way the prices scale with level, but I could live with your suggestion.

This dungeon is fairly straight-forward, but there are a few tricky spots. I’ll highlight these with instructions:
- Locked Door, Pounding Pistons(mini-puzzle/traps)
- There will be a locked door that needs to be repaired, and nearby there will be some pistons that smash down from the ceiling. Have someone run through the pistons right after they smash down, aggro the mobs on the other side, and run back out. Fight them in the open area. Afterwards, send everyone through to clear out any mobs that weren’t pulled. A mesmer with Blink and Portal Entre can make it trivial to avoid the pistons. Grab the gears, drop off the ledge, and fix the door.
- Kudu and His 3 Golems
- Kudu will run around and attack people and will send out golems at 75%, 50%, and 25% health. While a golem is out Kudu will be invulnerable, and will only attack occasionally.
- Same for all golems: Reflect skills (like Feedback) can reflect the golems’ most dangerous attacks. Also, keep condition-cleansing skills at the ready.
- Electric Golem: This golem will zap you with electricity when you attack while he has his electric shield up. This shield can perhaps be removed with a boon removal skill. People will want to disable their auto-attack for this round though. Also, lightning will damage you if you stand too near other players.
- Fire Golem: The hardest golem. He uses dangerous burning AOE projectile attacks and will cleanse conditions from himself (and heal for each condition he cleansed). You should do ranged direct damage and stuns/daze (he has a spinning flamethrower attack to punish melee attackers). His self-cleanse is a 1-second channel which seems to be removable with a boon-removing skill (hard to completely verify). When he raises his arms he will shoot two AOE fire attacks at each person. Stay away from each other, or the combined AOEs will be nigh-undodgable and everyone will die. Instead, dodge his attacks on your own. They target the area of the ground you are running towards. Example of how to dodge: Golem raises his arms: start running left. 1st fire projectile: Dodge right. 2nd fire projectile: Dodge towards the golem.
- Poison Golem: This will seem like a cakewalk after the previous golem. Dodge the poison the best that you can, run away and cleanse/heal if necessary (the poison kills much more slowly than the fire). Feel free to pour on the conditions – this one doesn’t cleanse itself like the fire golem did.
- Iron Forgeman (Final Boss)
- Very fun boss
- When he shoots a lava-laser, run behind one of the walls and spend time DPSing down adds.
- When he stops shooting the laser and reaches for the ceiling, run out from behind the walls (those areas will get covered in lava).
- Adds will drop boulders. Throw these at the boss – they will do massive damage.
When he dies…watch his death animation. It’s awesome.

The ten most important (my opinion, of course):
- LFG/Dungeon Finder.
- “Red Circles” on the ground need to be more prominent.
- The guild you are representing: They have their own unique color/symbol on the mini map apart from alliance and party.
- Louder/different notification of psts/whispers.
- Ability to ‘inspect’ players and have an option to turn this off to prevent others from inspecting you.
- Ability to ‘duel’ with other players.
- Option to have a separate button just for ‘looting’.
- Traveling to Waypoints: Too expensive.
- Make hammer models bigger (seriously they should be not far from greatswords but they all look tiny…).
- Dyes need to be account-wide.
Already available in a way, just not obvious:
- Target Assist.
- Ability to link personal waypoints to chat box.
- Ability to ‘queue’ with your group.
Disagree with:
- Disable the ability to have more than 1 person ‘Finish’ a player. Structured PvP too.
- End of match (Tally Screne) needs to stop all PvP action.

Just stopping by to vote ‘yes.’ Spamming the /m channel until you get the “too many messages” warning is not fun.

“oligopolistic " – very nice. My new word of the day.

And that’s not even taking into consideration the death cost in low level areas.
Yes, I forgot to add the high price of repairing armor adds to the cost of assisting fellow guild-mates when you do more difficult areas. Another cost that can discourage members helping out other members.
There will be a point where a player who liked to help others will begin to wonder, “Just how much is this going to cost me?”
This. I’m only level 55 and I’m already asking myself that question when my lower-level friends want to group up. Rewards need to scale better and/or travel needs to be cheaper…something needs to happen.

I play as a mesmer and do all of my personal story quests at level. I agree with you, snakeboy, the personal story quests are very difficult. I died ~10 times trying to kill the abomination in the “Dead of Winter” quest, and the only reason that I didn’t die many times on Mazdak himself was because I already had a walkthrough open to tell me that I shouldn’t try to use any of the sword’s melee abilities on Mazdak.
“The Battle of Claw Island” is, yes, very difficult. Lots and lots of kiting respawning mobs. The NPCs don’t do significant damage, and the mobs pretty much ignore them. So it’s a lot of 4+ vs 1 fights, which can be very tough if there’s 2+ brutes with knockdown (“Blink” saved me).
My girlfriend enjoys MMOs, but I help her whenever she does a personal story instance that sounds like it’s going to have a big fight. I know that, as a long-time “gamer”, if I’m having difficulty with these instances (arguably supposed to be the most “casual” part of the game), she’s going to become frustrated and quit.
Just so this isn’t all negative, I loved the quests “Bramble Walls” and “The Ghost Rite”. So much fun.

A couple nights ago I pugged TA, and I found a bug with the miniboss right before Faolain (the one that you have to shrink). We threw the three essences at him which shrunk him ask expected. However, as we were fighting him I used Moa Morph. It correctly morphed him into a moa, but after it wore off he turned back into his original giant invulnerable self. We had to acquire and apply one essence to make him small and damageable again.
