So I’ve just recently started a necromancer, and it seems to me like ANet REALLY tried to push condition damage onto Necromancers. I was discussing builds with a friend of mine who mains a Necro, and he said that he primarily uses Deathshroud for a lot of his dps, and traits to reinforce that idea. If I understand correctly, Deathshroud gives extra bonuses to power and precision, as well as crit damage?
In this case, what is the best weapon to build up Life Force? Would it be Axe/x, or Dagger/x? I kind of like warhorn, and the warhorn 4 ability seems more melee, so I’ve been considering D/W.
Are there any other nuker builds? I’m trying to avoid condition damage, given it’s lack luster performance in group content due to the way the game handles condition stacking and condition damage.
Any tips would be appreciated. Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere. I skimmed the first page, but it is late, and I am tired.
Okay. So I’ve recently created an Elementalist. It is still a relatively low level, but I’ve come to find that I do not really enjoy the class, nor do I enjoy that I feel to need to swap attunements quite frequently. A friend suggested that perhaps I was overthinking how to play an Elementalist, so I thought would come here and ask some more experienced veterans.
My friend suggested that you choose two attunements that you use much more frequently than the others. The other two, you only use when the moment warrants one of their abilities. Is this true? I realize that we’re supposed to combo attunements for finishers and fields and such, but constantly swapping attunements, am I hindering my gameplay, and even my enjoyment of the class?
For clarification, I don’t pop into an attunement, blow all of my cooldowns, then swap to another. But in most cases, for example, I’ll use one ability in air, swap to fire and use two, continue on to water and use one, then swap to earth and use three. Am I perhaps swapping attunements way too much?
Any thoughts or criticisms would be greatly appreciated. I’m struggling to find a light armor class that I enjoy, and I was somewhat hoping that Ele would be it.
I understand. Honestly, I despise the Berserker’s meta of this game. It makes the support inside me sad.
I’ll take all of these things into considering and revisit my idea. I was talking to a guardian friend of mine who also suggested Strength In Numbers over Retributive Armor.
So I recently created a Guardian because the class has always looked interested to me. So far I absolutely love it, and I feel like a large part of that has to do with my change of mind when it comes to support in Guild Wars 2. I’ve seen a lot of the guardian support builds out there that run staff/hammer, and I can see why. I am hoping to run a Mace/Shield support build, and would like some feedback and suggestions. This is roughly what I have come up with.

My goal with this build is to still do (hopefully) moderate damage, while applying boons and providing constant healing to my group. Now, I realize that unless you have obscene amounts of healing power, the stat itself isn’t very good. I am also under the impression that regenerative healing is very lackluster, and given burst in dungeons, is very negligible. Would Honor XI therefore outweight Honor XII? Or should I go for Valor XI and heal myself when I give boons to allies? That trait would synergize better with Staff/Hammer, correct? By doing this, I could also drop Virtues IX and put those points elsewhere as well.
Another question is gear. Would running Knight’s or Cleric’s gear be more productive and efficient? Given that I am receiving precision based on my toughness, both sets would help improve damage with Knight’s obviously giving the better damage output. However Cleric’s would still provide moderate toughness, and therefore decent Precision. Is my understanding of the trait correct in that it gives Precision based on ALL Toughness, not just bonus Toughness?
Looking at my abilities, can anyone suggest a utility skill that would perhaps be better than Merciful Intervention? I mostly put that there due to not liking the recharge time on other shouts, but Retreat could be very useful for obvious reasons.
Also, what offhand weapon should I run? I find pretty much every Guardian off hand to be very lackluster. Hammer would provide the Protection buff, which is always valuable, while staff would provide better aoe and the might buff/heal. Any suggestions or thoughts in that regard as well?
Thank you all for taking the time to read this and share your thoughts!
Sounds like a pretty good way to recreate and reintroduce The Underworld to me.
lol, the Underworld?
I would also like to see this implemented. I would also like if when I type in “Gauntlets”, I get items with “Gauntlets” in the name….not chest and leg pieces mixed in with what I am actually looking for.

I was sitting around today, thinking about some of my favorite costumes in Guild Wars. I still log into my account every now and then just to see my Dervish stand there with the Agent of Balthazar costume and his Dhuum’s Reaper.
Are there any plans for such costumes to make a return, preferably as armor, for events and such?
On a similar note, and I understand if nothing can be said yet, can we expect cosmetic items from holiday events, and are they more likely to be town clothes than items we can transmute onto armor?
If they increased the attack speed, the short bow would lose one of it’s perks. Upping the damage could be an alternative.
What gear are you using? I have a friend who uses Knights armor with berserker weapons, and he absolutely loves the damage his longbow does.
The third skill in the #1 Sword chain used to have an Evade tied into it. Does anyone know why they ever took it off?
My Ranger is still a fairly low level, so I haven’t optimized my gear at all, but I likely will not be touching Sword at all now. In betas it was the mokittenn weapon, imo, and the animations for the auto attack are fantastic for human. I feel as though I am paper fighting scissors whenever I use it though; all I do is get torn to shreds before I have any real chance to do anything.

First of all, I realize that there are previous topics covering this, and even one on the first page; I am bringing this up in a manner that was not done in that thread. I would appreciate if this thread were not merged, just to be buried into another.
I have looked at the prices for T2 Cultural Armor after the price update. Those aren’t all that bad. It’s expensive for the level, as it should be, because it forces you to make choices with your money and where you will invest it. However I feel that asking people to pump out 30g for a chest piece at level 80 is a little much, at least given the current state of the game, and the economy. Let’s look at a few things for a moment.
Cultural Armor (and Order Armors, but those are much cheaper), are meant to be somewhat-easily obtainable armor for fresh level 80 characters; a sort of stepping stone between karma gear that is earned from 70-80, and exotic/dungeon gear. However, given the recent “off the deep end” changes to prices, most of the T3 Cultural Armor is just not cost effective. Do they have sweet skins? Some of them do, definitely. But there is easier armor to obtain, that looks just as good. So I feel as though that isn’t a valid argument. I buy the armor to use it, not just for a sweet skin to use later.
Currently on the Trading Post, I can go buy any piece of exotic gear for about 4g. I could likely get it for even cheaper if I have a friend who is willing to take time out of his day to craft it for me if I gather or buy all of the materials.
I realize that quite a bit of the price changes, for Cultural, Order, and the level 80 event armors had to do with players exploiting the game via systems in the game. However, I feel as though some of these changes are just a tad too harsh. I’m not asking for these pieces to be so easy to obtain that a fresh level 80 character can waltz into his races’ capital right after attaining 80, and leave with a fresh set of T3 cultural armor. But maybe a reexamination could do some good.
15g seems more reasonable for a T3 chest piece, 12-10g for the leg and shoulder pieces, and about 8g for the boots and gloves. Still difficult to obtain, and forcing players to make decisions with their money, and still likely keeping people away from spending that much gold just to exploit the system.
Thank you for taking the time to read this suggestion.
History
The Fallen was founded on September 2nd, 2012 by a group of players who are familiar with guilds, and how they operate. Leadership and gaming experience amongst founding members ranges from leadership roles within games such as Dark Age of Camelot, EverQuest, World of Warcraft, Rift and Guild Wars 2, and guilds including The Regulators and EDGE Gaming. After building a solid foundation of experience, those founding members decided that it was time to set out and create a guild all their own – one with fair ideals and perfected operations.
Ideals
We are a guild that is here for the player. We believe in teamwork and unity, respect, and having a good time. We do not believe that players should feel as though they are coming home to a second job. We are a casual-hardcore guild, and understand that we all live in a world that comes with much more important obligations of its own. We are hardcore in the sense that, while in game, we aim to get things done, but also believe that members should be able to dictate how competitive or casual they would like their gaming experience to be. We aim to meld these two primary ideals into one. The one thing we do ask for is consistency.
Leadership
The Fallen is led by a tribunal system along with an officer core. All on-the-spot decisions will be determined by Guild Leaders, and all other topics will be discussed amongst the officer core and leadership.
Guild Wars 2
The Fallen is a PvX guild located on Eredon’s Terrace aiming to enjoy and experience all styles of gameplay within Guild Wars 2, with an emphasis on World versus World. We will be playing alongside guilds such as Resonance, Team Legacy, and Lords of the Dead.
What we’re looking for/Requirements.
- Our minimum age for acceptance is 16, with a preferential age of 18.
- The use of TeamSpeak and forums to socialize and organize is a must.
- Respect amongst all members of the guild and community—we have a NO DRAMA policy that is strictly enforced. You get one shot.
Those interested in joining may proceed to fill out our simple and no-brainer application here. Our website is still somewhat new, and we are making improvements/adjustments almost daily. Please bare with us during this time.
