Hello,

I am sure this topic has been approached numerous times, but I would like to get this post out there for discussion, in the hopes that it can be addressed at some point.

I really enjoy the crafting system in GW2, but a lot of recipes are so cost restrictive it makes the items uncraftable.

Take Master Maintenance Oil Stations for example, this provides the same scale of benefits as Truffle Steak Feasts, yet is 10x the cost to buy on market, and requires 5 Elonian Squares to craft.

I feel like the cost of crafting some items should be reviewed in order to make them more viable options.

Submitted a ticket and was told the following info -

“Thank you for contacting us.

Our payment processor is currently undergoing maintenance. During this period, all purchases will be delayed. Once the maintenance is over, all serial codes that were purchased during this maintenance will be sent out. I just had the same thing, but didn’t get an email, my invoice and confirmation screen do not show any serial numbers to register with.

Still, I’m gonna hold off on the “OMG! I just lost £40” drama for now, I have a proof of purchase, so do you, it’ll get sorted.

I was wondering if there were any plans to expand the store merchandise sections, there are 6 items in the store, 3 of which are the novels, and one is the artbook, which is sold out.

I would literally be throwing my money at ANet for more of that stuff.. if a book about the artwork has sold out, surely similar items would be profitable?

For example – The lore is massive, not everyone played GW1, wouldn’t a book that delved into that lore be extremely popular?

For me Season 1 got it right.. you had living story updates (nothing will top the Lions Arch battle) but you also had bold, large new game defining features.

Below are features that were added in end of 2012 – 2013, not content updates, like SAB and Tequatl, but game enhancing features that are new and not redesigns of mechanics or UI already in game -

LFG Tool
Costume Brawl
Fractals
Ascended Armour & Weapons
Laurels
Guesting (although redundant, it was still a new feature at the time)
Guild missions, merits and commendations
New PVP maps
WVW Experience and mastery lines
Custom arenas
WvW Traps
Achievement reward system
Wallet
WVW Seasons
Increased crafting levels
New skills

Below is a list for 2014..

Let me be clear that I am listing what I consider to be features – SAB, Tequatl, EOTM, activities and the new zones introduced in recent update are all great additions, but for me they aren’t new features. The last feature update in September was severely lacking in NEW features, almost everything was redesigns of current systems (I am debating collections as a new feature, as they could be considered just a new set of achievements, in the same way a story update brings a new set of achievements).

Don’t get me wrong, I love the recent updates and the new zones kick kitten , but in 2013 there was a lot of new features that were exciting and bold.. especially guild missions, fractals, achievement rewards and WvW Exp and mastery.. these were strong additions that should receive more focus and development. Its new content like this that is the most exciting.

In 2013, you got it right, in 2014 you improved on story delivery at the expense of not growing the feature set of your game. You know the bullet points listed on the back of every game box as great game defining features? That list should grow continuously and I don’t feel in 2014 you have been able to add to it very much.

New content and new features are not the same thing, you need both.

I know this has been discussed to death, so sorry for raising it, but I am literally waiting on this before playing again.

Is there any plans to implement? Has there been any update on the subject in the past 6 months? It cannot be hard to implement considering its already in for SPVP and I havent heard any reasons why it shouldn’t be in.

Someone already pointed out ways the megaserver could have been better. It works on CO and SWTOR for those very reasons.

- You can select an instance to go to by number and meet up with people.

- Divinity’s Reach[#1]
- Divinity’s Reach[#2]
- Divinity’s Reach[#3]

Or you could have easier to find ones that are named

- Divinity’s Reach[RP]

or even by language barriers

- Divinity’s Reach [FR]

The megaserver can work, but there is no way an algorithm can match us up better than having the actual choice ourselves.

But isn’t the point that new maps are created when previous maps are ‘full’? So therefore you couldn’t join via your suggested method anyway? Whereas the algorithm (when working correctly) would dynamically manage who should be where so always ensuring space on the map you want?

I guess population would flow all the time so it wouldn’t be forever until you could join, but I would rather an automated process that places people into the most suitable maps, then sitting there spamming a dropdown box until someone (who doesnt really care what map they are on) left the map I wanted to get into.

They haven’t dropped this new system on us and walked away, I’m sure the algorithm will be improved.

I love the patch.. and appluad ANet on their work. But.. I don’t consider this a feature patch.

I understand that it takes a lot of resource to make these kind of changes, but that’s what the vast majority of it is.. changes, revisions of existing features, fixes, balancing, polishing… not new features.

I include megaserver in that statement, which I wholeheartedly support, but its a revision of server structure, not a new feature.

This isn’t a call for these items, but new features are things like player housing, new mechanics, different avenues of progression, mini games (like the numerous untouched games in cities that should be in already).

PvP reward tracks, I guess that’s a new system? New traits I suppose? Everything else is a revision of an existing system.. not new features.. in my opinion. I feel like I was expecting an expansion of stuff to do, but what I got was the same game with a new gloss of paint.

.. again, note that I love the patch, but a lot of this stuff should of come in between content patches, the term ‘new feature patch’ does not put this patch in the right context.

2. Megaserver system, I believe that the developers foresaw the decline in populations all around after the changes to the trait systems and the rest of the changes I can see people complaining about and that is why they chose to make this megaserver system so it seems the player base has increased.

OR it was made because everyone was complaining about overflows, and underpopulated zones.. but lets go with your reasoning, as its far more dramatic and therefore must be right..

However it does nothing for the players who actually want to play on low population servers to get acquainted with the game

…. What? I play solo a lot, and don’t like to group much.. and I don’t even want that. And what happens once your ‘acquainted’ and start complaining that there’s no one to run events with? or that the world is empty?

and not have a bunch of other players running circles around them and ridiculing them for not knowing the game yet.

Wont happen… never… ever. There may be the odd example of a bad egg, but I reckon your chances of this happening are slim to absolutely nothing, certainly not a factor to change the entire server structure…

Also the language barrier is a mega setback as it will no doubt be the biggest blunder of all time for most Europeans don’t speak more than one language and the rivalry between the countries to this very day are still in effect leading to major problems in-game as players will have a much harder time team-working.

Again, I very much doubt its even a slight factor. Is it possible that your issues come from social anxiety, which is fine, but don’t confuse the problems. Rivalries between countries? The most I have ever seen from anyone that came close to a ‘country rivalry’ is UK not being happy about French servers early dominance of WvW due to French Canadians being able to dominate the map outside of primetime.. and even that was a friendly affair.. please think about what you say before posting? I have no issue playing with anyone from another country, or anyone who speaks another language, and have enjoyed dungeon runs where I was the only English speaker. Please enlighten me as to how sharing a virtual space with people from other countries or languages negatively impacts your experience with examples.

As for your proposed solution, I think you will find that one of the filter aspects that determines what map your on is language. At most, the proposed solution (if one is even needed and I don’t feel it is) is to improve that filter or increase its priority.

Maybe I’m very wrong here, but on every overflow I have played on, in my experience…

During Knight events there is at least a group of 20-25 players who were farming while knight events took place, not participating.

Everyone initially stacked on blue or red, because those were usually downed and so their loot chests are awarded (even I feel encouraged to do the same). Because you do not know who is getting the buff until the event is underway, no one moves.

It seemed the fact that there were clearly a number of people without the appropriate buff not inflicting damage, either didn’t understand the mechanics, or simply ignored them / couldnt be bothered to move to a different knight.

Green was always left to last, and because of the above, had 20 players at most attacking it until red and blue were downed (all too often red went down first.. and then they moved to blue..then to green..)

The events seems to NEED 50 on each knight, so a full map needs to commit to the event. This all gates access to the end of the living story, I have done my meta, but if someone started playing this content today I wouldn’t like their chances of getting in.

I have been on for most of the day, and haven’t got through to holograms once. I started on green all day and so received no loot, except the first run of the morning, when I started on red.

Perhaps the event needs to be tweaked to allow for people who dont understand, cant be bothered, or are in LA doing other things like heirloom / champ farming. At the very least, allow players to claim a buff before the event starts, so we can identify who isnt going to inflict damage, and encourage them directly to move elsewhere.

I am more worried about last 4 servers in EU leagues. These servers are really disadvantaged because they will not get enought tickets to get Mistforged Hero’s Weapon.

It appears to me the gift of heroes is purchasable with tickets OR badges of honour, in which case, even the server who gets the lowest reward of 200 tickets could get 2x mistforged weapons? Maybe they clarified elsewhere this wasn’t the case?

Not sure if this was posted elsewhere in this thread (I’m sure it was, but don’t fancy scrolling through 32 pages to check) but the art direction for Cantha looked amazing, I didn’t play Guild Wars 1 so never experienced the original concept – but I am very saddened by the fact the current intention is to never revisit it based on the below artwork alone, and I entirely understand why the community would be upset.

A simple question for all players of Desolation, I’m really curious, if you look at the score, why focus Vizunah and sabotage your last chance to stay in T1 ?

Don’t you think, logically and obviously, your best shot is to focus SFR to hope don’t be overcome by Elona ?

I just hope you won’t have a bad taste in your mouth soon when you’ll realize you’ve just help another server to take your own place

Your commenting on the basis that the scoreline reflects actual ability – it doesn’t. Our best chance of staying in T1 is taking the fight to VZ in my opinion. SFR have come back very strong.

You just don’t get it do you? Some of the people who play an mmo do not get into crafting at all/ Some do it for the PVP only. So what you just said does not help us at all.

Some people do not like to go into WvWvW but they like “Crafting” . Wonder how they would feel if they had to do WvW in order to finish the daily?

What? It’s easy for me, just go kill 20 people. That only takes me a couple minutes.

I have a friend who doesn’t like combat, he likes to craft and play the TP…. Never came to the forum demanding for the combat system to be removed tho…

Your post is selfish, did you complain about having to harvest nodes? You can still do that and refine the materials in seconds. This is a nothing achievement that I am sure you can easily live with until they add the option to choose different dailies to do… Which they will, step down off your box and relax…. Your gonna be OK.

Some truly epic fights at redbriar on deso border. 3 way war waged over the tower – Golden Horde were awesome to run with, so many times I thought Deso was out of it only to rally together in the dying moments of getting steamrolled by SFR.

I don’t buy in to the drama in this thread, every server in T1 deserves to be in it based on how I just saw all 3 servers compete over the past 6 hours.

I completed the jumping puzzle twice but when jumping into the end box, im taken back to the start, I never got zoned into the reward area.

To prove that I am not going crazy – I got the achievement but no reward (Which I assume Anet can check after the Lost Shores event)

The fact that the invading forces through the portal don’t appear is a technical issue, mesmers dont need fixing, the skills dont need to be changed and no one is wrong for using this tactic (unless ANet state otherwise) – but the problem of not seeing the enemy come through and start dropping AOE does need to be fixed.

If this is a problem with culling then its for ANet to address from a technical perspective. Therefore, should this not be reported as a bug?

[Bug Request] Straits of Devastation Dynamic Event Chains

First off I wanted to thank everyone who has posted detailed information on the various events in Straits of Devastation.

One thing to note:

Additional Details:The event chain involving recovering at artifact in lone post loops, we get an event to defend the post(Defend the Lone Post from the Risen hordes), shortly after an escort spawns(Escort the Pact squad to the conservatory) , another event at the end of the escort to kill a Veteran risen wizard(Kill the Risen Wizard guarding the conservatory) . After a few minutes the event to defend Lone post occurs again and the cycle repeats.

This is actually the design of the events described. What could be indicative of a bug is in escorting reinforcements from the Lone Post to Pact Rally Point. The reinforcement escort event should start any time Capture or Defend events at Lone Post succeed.
With the following exceptions:
- The south reinforcements event is already in progress (look for a shield icon on the map heading from Lone Post to Pact Rally Point)
- The south reinforcements is already completed successfully (Temple of Balthazar Meta status will say “Reinforcements from the southern invasion have arrived at the Pact rally point.”)
- The Temple of Balthazar Meta event is already pushing towards the temple
If none of the above is true, and the south reinforcement escort event is not starting please make note of the full Temple of Balthazar status text in any future reports.

This is definitely the case on Gates of Madness, the defense of Lone post, escort of a team to the conservatory and the killing of the risen wizard loops. The meta event states that the pact is awaiting reinforcements from the south but no other events launch.

The Escort to rally point from lone post is not in progress.
The meta event text states it is waiting on southern reinforcements.
And so they are not pushing toward the temple and the zone isnt progressing.

Also on Gates of Madness, the meta event in Malchors Leap for Lyssa Cathedral is stuck, it requires you to shut down 3 targets, one of which has a team defending a cannon who are asking us to defend them while they repair the cannon, but arent doing anything.

Realise this is for straits of devastation and not in the format needed but didnt have a lot of time and making sure I get the info out somehow.
