Another thing is that PvP is now a bomb fight and war as a class has very high 1vs1 dps. Almost every weapon is a melee weapon so it has to stay alive in some way in very high damage team fights ( can’t stay ranged. It has to stay in the middle of high damage range).

If you are looking for cheese mode on after gw2 hot idk. The good old shatter build is a good choice for core gw2. It takes however skills, practice and very good equipment. You should practice first in PvP trying different builds. Dueling in wvw is more about experience, patient, and the best equipment(full ascended, mandatory) if you wanna 1v1 1v2 or 1v3 (run..) Most wvw mesmer post hot patch have condition build. Scepter/shield + staff. You need good mobility as far as possible, swiftness or rune of the traveler +25% movement speed. I personally take lots of advantage of stealth (save life to escape or disorient) so I’m playing with decoy, elite and torch 4. Ascended Knight beighart armor, ascended zojja berserker accessory and weapons. This as far as I like to play is my favorite build.

Is it possible to maintain two games in one? I’m playing this game since beta and with the release of HoT it’s became to me impossible to play everything at medium-high competitive levels. Even if I have 4 years experience in my backpack, it’s almost impossible to play on equal fights.. Gw2 Core builds have totally different mechanics and are ridiculous underpowered compared to Gw2 HoT. I don’t really get the point why I shouldn’t be offended by such thing. Do you (arenanet) have this in account for people not interested in buy the expansion?

It happens to me too.. Bacterias are uselesess and dangerous. I play since beta gw2 mostly pvp, never wanted to form a team. By playing warrior I reached ruby in 4 days. I didn’t upgrade to HoT, needless to say that the difference is abyssal between the two games. People that are arguing only for the warrior have nothing to say. ANET will of course solve this problem, since chicks and turkeys are important. This kind of complaint could have a sense if there would have been raised about old game builds vs new game builds. In terms of support and damage no one of old build characters are not even near to hot build support and capability to make massive aoe damage. Most People have and will have words, unfortunately.

Of course they are, otherwise who will buy the expansion.
For me the poor comedy is the expansion itself. You are basically forced to buy it if your will is to continue to play the game, since the characters concept are totally different, drastically contrasting with the previous one. It’s basically a new game, not an expansion. It’s a total change. At that point ANET should create new GW3 or whatsoever servers. There’s no point that the two game coexist. Really disappointed and annoyed by marketing stuff. I simply deleted the Application and kitten ANET and all the joke industry!

Sounds like you should try the ‘Play Now’ button. It prioritizes servers that are just starting a map, has playable space, and is the same server other people will hop into when they use ‘Play Now’ so that they’re usually never empty and/or fill up quickly.

The problem still persist.
It’s not about find an empty match or whatever, the problem is that Hotjoin is totally broken.
This is because:

  • Leave and join are permitted iteratively.

There is no point that hotjoin exist in this way.
I’m agree that it should be different from ranked matches if it need to exist, but at the same time you need to build a patch to implement new rules to hotjoin.
No one is satisfied with this “hotjoin system”.

A solution should be:

  • Add a button that allow to queue (prioritizing time system) in a match while in the spectator mode to maintain the same amount of players in each team, and instantly join when another player queue; with the amount of comings and goings, it will take more less the same time as now is, to take part of a match.
  • Queue for started match: wait a couple of seconds that someone else queue in that match or just join instantly cause someone else is currently queued.
  • Leaving players: if a player has left the game then 1 random player of the other team gain the amount of rank points earned till that moment and leaves the game, with a queue priority for another match, so if someone else is queued in another random match, this player will instantly join another game.
  • Leaving players: if a player has left the game, autobalance in 5 seconds and another currently queued player can take part into the game.

This will maintain the same amount of players in each team. Autobalance is fine, but it doesn’t work when there is an unbalanced match like 4vs5 or something.

Otherwise just add to hotjoin too a sort of Dishonored debuff, cause some reliability does not clash anywhere.

It’s a nightmare, even in “play now” mode (hot join) 5 times of 6 there is sky hammer while the other 1 is spirit, jesus christ no one want this map.

There should be a short queue to maintain game balanced and funny:

  • Add a button that allow to queue in a match while in the spectator mode to maintain the same amount of players in each team.

Hello, there is a point in hot join that have no sense at all: unbalanced games.
Hotjoin is fine and everything, play button is fine but it has no sense in this way.
When you click “play” there should be a kind of queue in the way that we are keeping balanced games for our fun.
Most of the hot join matches, except the minority, are broken in this way.
It’s not only a fact about points, but when you start a match with 1 player more than the other team is a big help, you can easily cap all the 3 point or in the worst cases 2. After that is a big train to close or under the enemies base, or just 5 people running everywhere, killing you in few seconds.
This is just an enlarged example, but the soup is this.
I mean this could happen even with the queue system but without it it’s a kitten, seriously.
You just keep frustration up, no fun, just log off and kitten off.
Conquest mode is fine, you need to be smart, the system it works quite well for organized matches, but it should work fine also in Hotjoin matches otherwise implement other tipes of pvp for hot join, cause in this way it has no sense at all sometimes.
Please no train even in pvp.. come on.

There isn’t a proper control of the economy in gw2, to arrest the inflation, the speculation and so on.
But Anet doesn’t care that much about it, cause in this case if something “unexpected” happen, it will be in favor of Anet in anycase.
See the answer of that dev.

Precursors increased in the price for about 10% in 1 month.
However is not that normal to grind 1200g for a kittening precursor, neither is normal that the price itself is 1200g, neither is normal that precursors are lucky-drop only.

This game is born to go in the wrong direction.
1.) Endgame based only on appearance is just a dead game since the start.
Endgame is just when you hit lv80. So after 1 week. After 1 week you are going to farm like an idiot (since the release we have seen an exponential decrease of the incoming gold, you have to spend hours and hours in braindead instance to earn the “right” rate of gold/hour to satisfy the addictive shines, otherwise throw out you Credit Card) If you just like to chill, playing here and there, this game is not for you. We should earn gold just because we play this game, not doing determinate stuff. You can’t earn gold doing what you like, usually you have to do what you don’t like to earn gold. Think about this.
2.) As Yoh said, Contents are ridiculous:
It takes 1 or 2 hour to complete the temporary LS
All the instances take no effort to complete, with bad rewards.
3.) As well there is no real cooperation between players.

So, what are we playing for?

You can counter Stance warrior.
While warrior is using Stance, try to stay in the point and stay as far as possible from it, taking the time to evade the right skill to counter it.
5/10 second it’s not the end of the world.
Then attack properly. Don’t waste your skill. It will be fine.
However it’s a kind of noob tactic to use all the stance in once.
So if they do this, after that, you have 50 second to spread off all your stuff, CC, condition, damage and whatever.

So it’s reasonable.
Just play a bit smart, and more important, improve yourself.

Game’s Stimuli and end game contents revolve around fashion and appearance of the character. Sound reasonable, but without real end game content the game is getting boring. This has been said a lot of time.

So:

  • Living World are good. But it’s not enough.
  • Contents:
    High Level contents where veteran and everyone can more and more test themselves, instead of doing iterative and simple things to have “fun”.
    High, Mid, Low Level instances can coexist so it will not affect novices.
    A fairly example could be fractal, where lv 80 is much more harder than lv1.
    All the dungeons and world events should be build in the way that you can choose which level of difficult you want.
    This will implement a new end game part, because High level content will be very hard to finish as well as will be very hard to reach the final reward.
    It’s not for higher or better armor but it’s just to add harder contents to keep people like me in this game.
    It’s not for higher rewards in terms of gold.
    It’s about more fun and more challenges that the game doesn’t have now.
    However if you succeed in a hard thing the reward will be better for sure.
  • Character progression:
    Meanwhile I’ve always known that this game has no vertical progression and it’s not designed for that. However.
    I’d like that characters can earn new stats, new skills throughout the permanence in GW2, an example would be WvW abilities tab, for PvP as well as PvE.
    This would be a long term goal or a slowly progression of characters that for EXAMPLE add a choice of stat, a choice of abilities once, every tot rank points or every tot exp earned… as wxp works for WvW abilities more less.. in the event to maintain the design of GW2.
    Every character will earn something to improve its own abilities and to reward the time spent in GW2.
    This abilities will be separate from PvP to WvW as well as PvE.
    This is pretty much what I’d like to say.

Everything in this post is my own personal opinion.

The Problems in this game are:

  • Inexistent proper rewards for mid/hardcoreskilled players.
    There should be scaled rewards based on experience and skill of players as well as an increased difficult of events, dungeons and so on, in the way that also veterans can still enjoy the game and are always under new tests.
    I don’t like to spend my free time earning things that I don’t need and doing stuff that I don’t like or that became obsolete, but if you want to play this game , you have to.
  • Time is priceless.
    Time in GW2 is not properly compensated.
    We just play for shiny weapon/armor.
    Goals in GW2 are shiny weapons and useless titles.
    All is around aestetich. All smoke and no roast.
  • Mid/Long Term Rewards =/ effort.
    This game lacks of proper mid/long term goals that are not only fashion, title or whatever.
    We need useful things, useful for the players, making the game more enjoyable for veterans than novices, in the way that they feel satisfy for the time and efforts that they put in game.
  • Progression of the characters:
    In the “competitive” modes, particularly PvP, I feel like teased.
    I’ve played a lot of PvP just to be the same as everyone is.
    For sure an experienced player knows a lot more about characters and how to counter them than novices, but this is a normal thing not a reward.
    WvW has like a kind of reasonable (but still childish) progression of the character, with added skills, added stats and so on. This should be the line on which to proceed, but it’s late now, I guess.
  • Proper Rewards:
    There are not serious rewards for the effort and the time that a player put in this game.
    There should be: added skills, added traits, added stats or whatever in every game mode, that improve the character, not only a kitten title, a useless rank, or a super shiny weapon.
    Usually, I’m talking about everything in life, the more effort you put into things, the more you are awarded.
    You do things to earn something useful to yourself, to improve yourself.
    I feel that GW2 totally missed this.
  • Fashion that we don’t need:
    Since the start we have seen an exponential increment of fashion. Nowaday all is around fashion and aestetich in the game, following the rules of the real world. Anet forgot Fun.
    I mean, it’s good to look nice and everything, but I absolutely prefer fun, rewarded time and contents instead of aestetich in a game.
    If a game runs correctly:
    If you don’t look nice you can have fun but if you don’t have fun you’ll quit.
    Remember.

A person feels teasing cause all of this.
I don’t buy this game for grind or became a broker of GW2 Economy.
I just buy this game to have fun, to spend some free time doing stuff that need to entertain me in the best way.
Personally I’ve played more than 4000 hours and now I feel all this in once.
This is the only goal centered from ANet people and devs, keeping me here for 2 years.
I’ve learned something more.

Hey everyone!
As the title says I’m currently looking for a team.
I’m come back in game few months ago after a 8 months break.
I’ve been in top 500TeamQ playing pugs, I never had a Team in GW2.
I earned that rank after 650ish games played with warrior so not because of broken MMR.
I played several CORPG, MOBA, FPS where I earned from these a good experience of team cooperation and understanding of mechanics.
I’m mainly looking for Italian players.
They should be: competitive, smart, with an high understanding of game modes, tactics, rotations , with high individual and group skills.
I’m just looking for some competitive fun.
Relaxed people that take positive criticism are welcome.

It “ridiculously OP” in your opinion but you don’t get the point. I’m not talking about to make a sort of invulnerability while in stealth, never asked this, neither something concerned to this.

I don’t care as well as 50% reduced damage while in stealth, it’s another point.

I’m just saying that in my opinion is really bad designed that channeled skills, iPhantasm and 1 hit skill are able to follow something invisible to the enemies/mobs eyes for several seconds.
It makes no sense at all. It’s bad from an aesthetic point of you, it goes against nature of stealth itself. It’s stupid and a kind of laughing balance to make stealth not too powerful.

So as someone suggest, it’s probably better to change this fact, making people tracked by feet on the ground or something, add new stats as dexterity for more evade, nerf damage, no damage while in stealth or whatever, even remove stealth from the game if necessary instead of keep going on with this sort of stuff.

It works also on insta skills, all the ranged class are able to catch you for 1 or 2 hit after the stealth if they are throwing their bullet while you’re going stealth.
There is a mix of bug and something that “works as designed” so in the end everythings work as designed. Problem solved.

It’s bad designed in my opinion because if they put stealth in the game this should work as stealth, enemies shouldn’t hit something that they cannot see with targeted skills.
I mean, if while I’m going stealth my character is stricken by something in the initial trajectory of the arrow/bullet and I don’t move then it’s my fault. But we have always 1 extra random hit or 2 even on ranged insta skills.
I mean is stupid that the opponent is able to round itself and follow you around with the channeled skill even if in front of him there’s nothing. It makes no sense.
I played several MMO and I never found a design like this. It’s incredible.
What Stooperdale say it’s true, it’s what I usually do, but this design makes me crazy.

@anzeketh yes, as Xenon said all the channeled skills actually do this.
Life Steal was just an example.
I run a condi build with settler amulet to stay alive enough to explain this properly in the “video”.
I don’t understand why… I mean, you can be hit by AoE damage while in stealth, but I really found unfair or just stupid that channeled skill can follow something that they cannot actually see, doing a lot of extra damage for a 1800-2000 armored toon.
You need to go out of range instantly, extra dodge that you need to save to limit the damage, not always able to do it, and it’s another of the preoccupations when you play with someone that knows his/her fact.
Even iPhantasm that does a lot, a lot of damage are able to catch you, as channeled skill too.
I have more experience with mesmer generally, but playing a thief this problem is even bigger.

I was thinking about post this on game bugs forum, but since it would be useless I don’t.
I reported this several times during my permanence in GW2.
Since the release there is this problem.
So at the start I said: “It’s fine, they will fix it later.” Never happen.

The problem is for everyone that are using stealth skill.
I recorded a short video where you can see what I’m talking about.

Now that I have created a thief character I can see this more frequently than before.

Mesmer as thief is affected by this as well as everyone that use stealth or that are stealthed by others.

I mean, we are all agree that AoE have to damage while in stealth, but I can’t really understand how and why someone can catch you with a targeted skill and follow you even if you dodge, evade, move.

So, why?

Since the release TP had problems. 1 day worked and the following day who knows… It’s not a problem of these days.
These days it stopped definitively, but there were bugs never fixed since the release.. so stop to defend the indefensible.

They should make a real Mac version or this sort of thing will happen again.

I doubt this is ever going to happen. Pretty sure the only reason we got a Mac Client in the first place was that the only additional cost would be the cider licensing and the occasional developer time if something breaks (as in this situation). Unless they believe that a real Mac Port would get them a whole lot of new customers, I just don’t see it.

Edit: This is all OT though.

Seeing it or not, it’s something we’re allowed to ask for, we should expect, and would find foolish not to clamor for. The way it was presented was that the game was native for mac in all the ways they tried to attract us to the game. It was a lie of omission and one they alone can put right. It’s a matter of supply and demand. We DEMAND they SUPPLY us with a Native Mac Client.

Absolutely agree.
While in the end of the description they said in collaboration with TrashGame cider client, the whole presentation of the product was a trap. “Beta Client” until the release of the “finalized product”. Where is it? 2 years and the same trash, even worse than before.

There are so many classes/builds that can actually kill an engineer.
If you can’t, your build(?!) sucks kitten.

What disappoint me is that we are talking about it for almost 2 months and we still haven’t an answer from someone.
I mean, there are most of engis and eles here that pretend an answer, not 2 dudes.

It will be fine just yes we are thinking about it or no we don’t care, but as usual they continue to ignore, delete, close the posts.
I will not stay here much longer…

In my opinion the stacking sigil have to work only with the current weapon set that has it. Simple and quick solution.
Engineer: Due to the past nerf of the kits cause of sigils, stacking sigils should also work on kits.
This should be a fair balance.

I don’t like to say anything about ele cause I never played it so I’ll pass the ball.

You cannot drop bundle while in the air.

The advice that someone gives it would work when you touch the ground, you have less than 0.2 seconds to drop the bundle in order to do the action properly.
It’s a bug that need to be fixed.
