Edited to add: Our primary focus right now is on making the core Gw2 experience as strong and compelling as possible.
You’ve been doing this for the past 10 months. I fail to see how this is your focus when what you’ve been doing thus far is making add-ons to the ‘core GW2 experience’ and then taking them away after a few weeks.
Maybe, just maybe. It’s a PvP achievement?
Like the Dragon Ball achievements?
Like the Crab Toss achievements?
Like the Snowball Mayhem achievements?
Did you complain about having to do non-PvE content to get all of your achievements for the previous events?
Besides, like another person put it; you’re not entitled (oooh that word makes me shiver) to have all of the achievements. Just as if someone that exclusively PvPed and WvWed wailed that they have to slog through PvE content to fill out their achievement panel.
Still in the process of collecting, very few have been added from outside sources (people other than me) :
Hey everyone, for a while now I’ve been trying to find a good stat combination that gives decent direct damage, while not being full glass cannon one-shotted – particularly in dungeons. Naturally, this is a bit tricky as a Thief because we are among the classes with the lowest base HP, and Toughness as a stat does not really shine unless you have high sustained healing (Which, while Thieves can achieve via traiting, it really hampers trait and stat bonuses towards Offense) and some already decent Vitality. I narrowed down some combinations that I’ve seen or heard other people use for the same purpose (Direct damage with survivability):
-Soldier’s and Knight’s
-Soldier’s and Berserker’s
-Knight’s and Valkyrie’s
-Knight’s and Soldier’s
Now, seeing as how we as Thieves have something of a Health problem, I defaulted whichever stat set gave Vitality to the Accessories slots, as those give more stats than Armor slots. You can see the comparisons in the spreadsheet picture.
Some notes:
-The listings for Power, Precision, Vitality and Toughness do not include the 916 base value you get. They instead show what bonuses you get from your gear alone. However, Attack, Critical Damage, Critical Chance, Health and Armor take into account base stats.
-Weapon and jewel/upgrade slots are not accounted for, with one exception: Attack.
-Attack is calculated with an average of 955 for weapon damage, 180 power from a berserker/soldier/valkyrie weapon, and 150 power from a berserker/soldier/valkyrie exquisite gem in accessory slots.
-Armor and health are calculated with a Thief in mind. So Health is working off lowest base, and Armor is working off of Medium Armor.
-No Trait stat bonuses are applied.
-Soldier accessories exist, but only as BoP dungeon drops.
Now, finding the right stat set is all subjective. You might want a bit more damage, or you might want to be a bit tankier. In my opinion, I believe the best option (for me) would be Berserker Armor with Soldier’s Accessories. Knight’s with Soldier’s leans towards the defensive side, and Berserker with Beryl (Valkyrie) leans towards the offensive side. Berserker with Soldier’s and Knight’s with Beryl’s are relatively close, however the former option gets nearly 100 extra power in exchange for losing only 1% critical damage, and 60 toughness (which, again, is negligible when adding/removing in small amounts).
Well, one area of the game that I feel is lacking character progression is the social interaction area. Namely, whenever I idle and just hang out/talk with people I’ve met in game. Simply put, there really isn’t any kind of feeling of progression or advancement of my character when I’m doing this. I believe Anet should implement an “Awkward Silence” condition that will slowly suppress all of your game messages unless you equip yourself with the appropriate infusion. That would do wonders for the lack of progression in the social aspect of the game, imo.
I’ve recently changed households and set up a new internet connection. It’s the same ISP that I’ve used in my old house, only a different modem (ZyXEL PK5001z). Since switching, I can only go around 15-30 minutes (sometimes shorter, sometimes longer) without being disconnected at random. I get booted to the character select screen, with the error message popping up saying,
“The game client lost its connection to the server. Please wait a few minutes before restarting the client and trying again. (Code=7:11:3:189:101)”
I don’t think it’s connectivity issues with my network on the whole, as applications like Mumble and Steam don’t lose connection to their respective services, and my browser still works fine immediately after alt+tabbing after a disconnect. I can also immediately get back in game after a disconnect.
Here’s what I’ve tried:
-Restarting the client and waiting
-Forwarded the necessary ports (80, 443, 6112 and 6600) in modem’s GUI
-Disabled modem’s built-in firewall
-Ran GW2 shortcut with the port test (/clientport 80) in the target line
-Made exceptions for GW2 and its ports in Windows Firewall
-Rebooted my modem and computer
In addition, something I’ve noticed is that if its been a while since I ran GW2, the game will start desyncing (lag spike for around 5-10 seconds) at the random intervals, then it will start disconnecting instead.

I had the time and energy, I’m awesome. Looking forward to next year.
In some seriousness, my current record is 9 completions. It gets much easier the more you finish it. Someone in my guild got to 13 before getting tired/bored. What’s your’s?
Here’s your chance to prove you are better than the rest Arena Net.
You mean lowering the bar like every other MMO dev because a vocal minority screamed and cried when they couldn’t complete a challenging section of the game?

something accomplished, especially by superior ability, special effort, great courage, etc.; a great or heroic deed: Completing the Mad King’s Clocktower is a momentous achievement.
Guess Anet will have to remove sPvP and WvW next.
Scrap costume brawl too.
Also remove all the abilities and just give everyone a basic attack that’s determined by dice rolls.
Does the Endurance Refill effect apply to allies? I know it applies to myself, and I’ve seen it cure a teammate’s condition when activated. The wording is slightly ambiguous on whether or not the endurance refill is also shared when the signet is activated.
Make a gold deposit function at keeps and towers’ quartermasters. Someone drops in some dosh and it’s secured in the keeps’ gold supply. Purchasing keep upgrades comes from the gold supply first, and the player’s pocket second. If a keep is captured, the money it its gold supply is divided into the invader’s event reward.
Make the Jumping Puzzle it’s own map, don’t make the people camping or trying to complete it take up the same slots as people fighting in EB.
Grub should have a more meaningful PvP benefit to killing it.
The unmitigated foolishness of asking for WvW to be balanced on what time of day you play.

Hey OP, give this a rattle through your brain and then tell me how this will not kill the game mode for any server without a strong number of late-night players.

What -possible- incentive do I or anyone else have to keep playing WvW for the rest of the week after pressing B and seeing this?
Trahearne: I personally find him to be probably worst character. :SPOILERS:

Bad character/personality: Yeah, uhm…I don’t really see this. What’s so wrong with him? I actually like him.
He’s a Gary Stu. He has no actual flaws despite seemingly being inexperienced in military affairs. Note the word seemingly however because he makes little to no mistakes in organizing the Pact despite, in his own words, being a scholar and not a general. His script attempts to make him the inspirational leader, however it’s mostly just generic and cliche “We must work together!” said ad-naseum. His voice actor delivers his lines very dully, and without any interest. If you want to say “But he’s a necromancer!”, I point you to Killeen, the Sylvari Necromancer in Ghosts of Ascalon.
Takes credit for your work: Well…yeah. Generally what leaders/historians do. This just seems like people griping that the world isn’t grovelling at their feet. A lot of people do great things that get attributed to their “betters”. It’s just a fact of real life that they put here.
It’s inconsistent. You’re played up to be this rising big-shot. You rise to the top of your Order’s rank after a handful of missions, everyone thinks you’re special (which is why you’re recruited into an Order in the first place). ANets want to make you feel like a hero with Dynamic Events and Personal Story.
“As a structure, the MMO has lost the ability for the player to feel like a hero. Everyone around you is doing the same thing you’re doing. The boss you killed just respawns 10 minutes later. … We do not want to build the same MMO everyone else is building. And in Guild Wars 2 it’s your world, it’s your story.”
-Ree Soesbee
Came outta nowhere and feels weak: Well, for Sylvari, he doesn’t. For everyone else? he’s an expert on Orr. You know. The place we’re fighting. He’s also a necromancer. So very knowledgeable against the undead. The creatures we’re fighting. And every group owes him? Yeah, stretch, but being an expert on the main enemy the three orders are fighting at the moment, as well as being one of the first Sylvari to exist kinda does give him room to make this make some sense.
Played a Charr. As much as Sylvari seem to be the lore writer’s “favorite” race in GW2, the story should still make sense and should still connect to all character backgrounds, not just Sylvari.
Doesn’t do anything: …I got nothing for this one. It’s really a shame he doesn’t. Cause he is pretty powerful. In the OoW option for dealing with Mazdak, Trahearne could usually take Mazdak on his own for a good minute or two, even with Caithe and Cai taken out.
Agreed. Here’s a display of his power in-game during missions:

Since I’ve reported this in the Stress Tests and it’s still here, figured I would put it on the forums, and this time with a video. Since it’s easier to analyze.
It only seems to happen when “falling” with your weapon drawn. The height you need to fall only seems to need to be slightly taller than the height you were originally at to inappropriately trigger the falling scream.

Personal Story becomes Trahearne’s Story after Claw Island, which is really disappointing considering how the events leading up to Claw Island were probably the best moments in PS for me. There’s a large gap in “Player-Importance” for a good chunk of the story. I don’t recall the level ranges exactly but it’s like 50-80. Only after you start the level 80 arc do people actually seem to recognize you as a hero and not Trahearne’s personal assistant. It still falls flat however, and the final boss fight was extremely dull gameplay-wise and narrative-wise. The writers seem to assume I care a great deal about Trahearne, when that’s pretty far from the case as a player.

How is this a fitting end to the story? Watching Trahearne talk about himself and what he has to do after he finishes HIS quest. You could say there’s still killing Zhaitan, but that’s pretty much just Destiny’s Edge + Your group kill the dragon.
In the end, I feel as though after Claw Island the personal story lacks a great deal of the personal bit. None of my previous choices seem to matter, especially the ones I made in the racial story arcs. As a Charr, my sparring partner vanishes after joining an Order. Yes, (s)he oversees the warband in my absence but (s)he doesn’t even show up for the final victory celebration or final boss battle? My sire also told me he would contact me at a later time with the full details of an interesting plot-point, never did. My choices only seem to amount to spawning different kinds of NPCs in my home instance. Which, by the way, don’t remark on or have any special dialogue for me after I’ve killed an ELDER DRAGON.
Hopefully, in future patches or expansions this will be remedied with better writing and resurfacing player choices and consequences.
