Even if it had a 15s cd (traited), it’d hardly be abusable/op in a zerg situation. Veil is used during the initiation of combat, sometimes with a followup if a rally is needed. The thing is, the enemy will have access to the same thing. More veils will mean more interesting combat, and mesmers more willing to both take it, and use it.
Portal needs a reduction for the same reasons.
Imagine a fight, 40 on 40. Each side has ~5 mesmers. One side is more organized and daisy chains the veils. That side now has permanent, repeatably applied stealth for 40 people.
Skills like Veil and Portal have these long cool downs because under certain circumstances they can (and did) get abused to devastating effect.
Think about portals on a 40s cool down. The whole army you are fighting has constant teleports!
This is clearly a [mesmer skill] that functions in a [bad, overly-weak, actually…it doesn’t function at all] way
I agree completely!
IIRC there are no limits on field effects. You can have 50 people run through it, all of them would get stealth
Sending clones in to shatter and wasting 3 talents in the process does indeed sound absurd. Aside from that, waiting for clones to apply those effects by being killed or over writing them is, in a word, non-functional
e: Or maybe it can work but I don’t think it would be very good

Just out of curiosity – do you know that Crippling Dissipation, Confusing Combatants, and Debilitating Dissipation do not work if you shatter your clones/illusions, only if they are killed by enemies or by you “killing” them by overwriting them.
This is why those traits are almost never taken

I just got the same one and freaked out immediately changing my password and disconnecting logged in accesses (myself). It seems to be some kind of bug in their system. Clearly Anet thinks my blood pressure is too low…well played Anet, well played.
The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

Just want to chip in. On my server it is now standard operating procedure to stack on the commander away from an enemy zerg that has been sighted by scouts. We then run into the middle of them and aoe all around us because we know we will kill them all before they know we are even there. This is not how wuvwuv should be played but it is how it is going to be played until this issue is fixed.
This is an urgent problem and needs to be escalated to the highest level.
The #1 server (HoD) has a lot to gain from artificially placing a server into their #2 spot. This is actually a symbiotic relationship. #1 gains insurance against double teaming from the two other servers in their match-up. #2 gains a comfortable place as the second best WvW server. Whether this is actually happening or not can never really be proved, even if real proof is given it is easily discredited. However, it’s interesting food for thought.

My Wife’s account was stolen on 9/5 and we created a ticket with the appropriate information. So far the only response has been a link to a password reset which CLEARLY will not work because, as stated in the ticket, the e-mail for the account has been changed
