There are cases where turrets will attack at “any nearest” targets. I do wish that their targeting system would need improvement because sometimes they would attack the nearest enemy object, building, or at times spawn points of those targets (shooting at nothing) and leave us defenseless or useless when traiting all on turrets. it would be better if there can be an option where you can switch between automatic firing and manual targeting.
I feel like ArenaNet thinks engineer will be op, yet it has so many disadvantages mechanics.

i hate how engineers uses rifle like shotgun. literately. all skills are shotgun. I wish it be the reverse from warriors because warriors are up close anyways. why give them a sniper when they hack and slash. heck! their long bow is pretty mid range!
They should give engineer long range attacks rather than giving us close and medium range attacks. stereotyping, warriors are brutes. shotgun suits them more. Engineers are tinker. even their tool trait, they have scope. If ArenaNet changes this, I would be more satisfied playing engineer more.
I wish my engineer can do more when he has duel pistol, rather than leaving one pistol hanging till it is used from 4 and 5 skill. Same for other profession as well where as when dueling certain weapon combinations, you can have different auto attack that uses both weapons, rather than just main hand.
For Engineers (since i only played engineers) :
Duel pistol – I thought it be neat, if the auto attack (skill 1)would have combo like how warrior’s, thief’s and other professions were as it would change skill and animation for each move. I was thinking something like:
[Shoot with Right pistol] -> [Shoot with left] ->[ Shoot with both]. even better if they are all randomized.
Some animations for that poor offhand. I mean.. if I had 2 pistols, I would shoot with both right? This can also apply to Thief as well, but with different name and effects.
Pistol & Shield – it would be optional if the shield would be raised while shooting and gets a guard buff. Sorta similar to Guardian’s guard buff. Thought it would be neat. would work with other shield-wielding profession too.
Not sure if it’s discussed somewhere, but I do wish engineers can change the skins and layout of their kits and turrets. whether its race/faction-based, or special gem bought skins, it brings more uniqueness to everyone other than having the same vintage looking turrets for everyone.
