Thats sad. then why give three different types then per dungeon -_-
to have a decent stat armor till you can afford to transmog….. lol I dunno, a lot of Anet logic eludes me, it seems like they try to prioritize Gem store sales this way
There is a limit to what you can do without the Trinity to make the game fun for traditional MMO players who are use to the whole tank/healer/dps combo
The game is in its early stage and Anet needs to figure out a way to fix these dungeon mechanics
I personally feel that Dungeons are not fun at all, im not asking for a Trinity or anything, it just don’t feel fun for me with all the broken mechanics, 1shot abilities, lack of utility to determine what the enemy is doing( ie castbar of some sort), huge hp pool for no reason whatsoever, they all feel like an illusion to make things seem hard which it isn’t just makes it look like, the best way i can describe it is Dungeons feel Chaotic
I for one hope that Anet improves the dungeons or in the future come out with dungeons that are far more polished than what they have now
The beauty of GW2 though is you have no sub so just quit and wait till they either fix it or come out with better stuff, I haven’t actually logged in for a while now (not since they fracked up with the DR system) I just keep track of changes in the forums, if I like the changes I’ll try it out, if not on to other games
you can you are free to do so, dungeon sets are for skins not stats use a transmog stone that is what they want you to do
illusion of value is the answer, what looks better being rewarded $3 or being rewarded $300? as with any person looking at the higher value feels better
what looks more epic? an item worth 3 tokens or an item worth 300 tokens?
as for bank space that is why there is an option to expand them, buy more bank space or buy bigger bags it is all optional that is what it is, the game is a f2p and there is a cash shop if you choose to use it (for convenience), don’t want to pay money? convert gold to gems farm and get gold and covert to gems to buy more bank space or anything in the gem store
Convenience comes with a price its not free, you will learn this in life as you grow up
The game has only been out a month and half literally
The deep and Urgoz warren didn’t come out till expansion of GW1
You need to relax your horses, why do people speak like there is no other content planned for this game
I have one thing to add, Melee classes are mostly “Forced” to play ranged
What i mean by this is for most of the encounters even regular dungeon mobs, bosses, world event bosses, as a warrior i am “Forced” to go range if i want to survive and deal damage
I feel that being melee we are punished to get in close combat and our survivability is very low compared to range characters, and before you start with the “L2P” and “Gear up right” I don’t have a glass cannon warrior, i use the Vigil armor set with P/T/V and i even use the Dolyak superior rune, but i feel that even with all that i can’t survive lots of aoe and the damage the mobs and bosses output.
Now I haven’t tried specing full defense and health, and using pure defense weapons and see how i survive but wouldn’t that force us to be the so called “tanks” since our damage output will be so minimal, and thats no fun for me since i want to deal damage but with the way the system works if you want to make a difference in dps you will have to go range, and i fell that its “Forced” upon us i mean nobody likes to swing 3-5 times then your downed, or swing dodge swing dodge swing swing downed, or even better swing dodge run swing dodge run why did i craft this nice exotic sword for then i should just stay ranged and deal so much more damage and its easier to avoid damage that way and kite
(edited by Kurzick.6375)
I am looking for an active dungeon guild prefer (EST) to run with mainly CoE and CoF i don’t mind the other dungeons i would still do them
I have a Ranger and a Warrior to run with and no I am not dumb enough to run in dungeons with glass cannon set up
leave a message here or send me a private one
Thanks
i’m not one of those “the sky is falling” criers… but i’ve been around long enough in MMOs (since meridian 59) to see the signs on the wall. i have defended, trumpeted and lauded GW2 EVERYWHERE i could. now you just took alot of my argument ammunition away from me.
One week there is a Dev Post about retaining Dungeon Difficulty, holding firm to their design philosophy of how they want players to have time to Learn the dungeons. The next week, you start to read patch notes about armor and health nerfs. i just dont even care anymore. cant fight it any longer. MMOs wil just eventually become watered down. dont fool us anymore, just start naming games “Sameness 2012, Sameness 2013”. reading between the lines here i see the affect of “low gem sales” and “player grumbling” and NCSoft’s current cutthroat business stance.
funny but the guild i joined ran a forum poll after the first week of release… asking us to rate our favorite dungeons. Crucible of Eternity was #1 by 10 votes (out of 52). now everyone is talking “meh” on voicechat. why do dungeons have to be identical? huh? why couldnt CoE become known as “the dungeon with longer fights” or “the high armor and health” dungeon? do you have some analytic somewhere that says “ALL STORYMODE DUNGEONS MUST HAVE AVERAGE COMPLETION TIMES SO THAT LITTLE BILLY CAN BE DONE BY DINNERTIME”… seems like that..
i know there is other things about GW2 that set it apart from other games… and for that im happy and feel my money was well spent; it will keep me around for a few months i guess. but this doesnt bode well when a top Dev says “we’re firm about our design philosophy” and then flipflops with “heres a happy meal dungeon with a toy in it”.
WHY OHHH WHY do people associate “HIGH HP POOL=HARD”
are you kidding me have you even tried the dungeon after they patched it?? do you even know how much they nerfed the hp of the mobs and bosses??
“Crucible of Eternity
Reduced the difficulty of creatures and bosses, particularly health and armor."
nowhere does it state that they reduced the damage the bosses and trash mobs are doing, they merely drop some of the hp and armor so that you don’t have to spend 234253245 hrs in there
which also pls get it to your head “TIME SPENT IN DUNGEON DOES NOT= HARD”
Vocal minority? there is almost 30000 views on the Dungeon patch discussion that seems like a decent amount considering the rest of the player base are the ones who don’t care that is why they won’t post on the forums
We actually “Care” that is why we are voicing out our opinions here, so what are you trying to say then Anet should cater to the ones who don’t put any effort and posting in the Forums, the people who either farmed out exotic gear pre patch and could care less about dungeons now, and the ones who log in once a month? and where did i expect players to play 24/7 that just makes no sense
Your attitude towards “ohh if you don’t like it leave” that is the right attitude if you want this game to die because soon not only me, tons of people are thinking of leaving and if that happens there goes the Gem shop profit, i was planning on buying some gems for extra character slot bank tabs and bag spaces maybe even the skin or transmog stones but now highly unlikely i don’t see any light at the end of a dark tunnel, and if Anet doesn’t make any profit say goodbye to additional content and look at another SWTOR scenario, if you consider yourself part of the majority and they have that attitude then this game is in serious trouble
(edited by Kurzick.6375)
Artorous.8573 are you blind? I read the forums and so many people complain that they have inactive guilds, its hard to find dungeon groups, even my own guild of 170+ maybe 20 people max are online and maybe a handful are willing to do the dungeons even though they risk being bugged and not properly rewarded, its like playing the lotto “maybe this run ill get 60 tokens or be fracked up and get 5 tokens”.
Again are you blind? Orr has tons of broken events that won’t reset (Balthazar, Grenth, Lyssa are the ones i’ve seen) escort quests that won’t reset, defend events that won’t reset, skills quests that are bugged, even Jormag has been broken for days on my server im not sure if its a matter of a server problem but so many events are broken on my server.
Again being a fanboy and closing your eyes to these broken crap is not going to help better this game
I didn’t mention any difficulty anywhere, 1 reply saying pugs and another saying it. I said Fun, big difference.
And the dungeons are fun for the crowd they were/are intended for. Most of the “Feedback” You see complaining about difficulty is infact by puggers which the dungeons were not designed for. You said they should listen to feed back. Well issue with that is the feedback is not by the intended crowd. Now those complaining about bugs. Thats completely different.
Ermm there not fun for me, I’m sure they were intended for me too.
If there not fun for you. Move on then. Point of the game is to not do what you dont find fun. Content you dont find fun in the end is not ment for you.
Edit: Also since my clicking seems to be ahead of my typing. What would make it fun for you. And if you tell me look at the feedback frankittenhat would put you into what i view as the pugger or give it all to me now crowd.
Too bad 80% of the player base disagree with you even some of the non puggers think its pointless waste of time which lacks a good reward to effort ratio and full of bugs and broken mechanics you think it will be fun if majority of the players “move on” and leave the game?
Also point me to this “move on to another content” you mean the broken world events in the lvl 80 zones? 90% of the level 80 zones are broken so where should i go next? please point me the way ohh so mighty “PRO GAMER” my guess is you farmed CoF pre patch and got all the gear you want
And point me towards the part where they say that some parts of the game will not be accessible to puggers on the box of the game or the manual or the advertising they did, because if a person does not read the Guildwars 2 forums they will not find any information about ohh the dungeons are not meant for the casuals and even then you have to have that in mind and search for it, how many normal players are gonna think that “hmmm I am buying a new game I better read the forums and look to see if there are content that i won’t be able to play”
Too many fanboys defending a broken system isn’t going to help fix this game what will happen though is a small community of fanboys left if the game doesn’t get fixed
2 reasons
Gem to Gold conversion
And soon the actual Tokens will be for sale at the Gem store if not the Tokens the actual skin for each dungeon
I agree with the whole players will be forced to use Gem store to convert to Gold deal, with all the gold sink and now they have reduced the rewards and the so called Anti farming thing most casuals will have problems making money and thats when Anet comes to your rescue as long as you have good credit of course.
There is an answer to all of this
1) No PTR no proper testing and just quick fix and nothing but quick fixes
2) They are trying to buy time because they know they don’t have enough end game content to hold out ( I mean releasing a game called Guildwars without the actual Guild vs Guild is just wrong which is one of the major feature that should have been included at release), but what they don’t understand is people are willing to run dungeons with multiple characters if the dungeons were at a reasonable state and give much more replay value to the so called end game. I for one would love to run the dungeons with different characters maybe even buy more slots to make more but with the current broken dungeons I don’t even want to run for 1 and probably not finish my other planed character.
3) They sold us a “Beta” game, This game is far from complete and polished it feels like a beta and we are suffering for it, I would have gladly waited another year to have a much better game release than this. No Guild vs Guild (I mean this was the bread and butter of GW1 and it should have been one of the main features on release or they could have changed the name to Worldwars or Dragonwars or Dungeonwars or Serverwars), vague descriptions on skills and traits, no proper buff/debuff icons, no casting bar ( I mean we have interrupt skills how are we suppose to know what to interrupt and when, what we just guess on the animation? and memorize all of the animations for each male and female races and professions to use our interrupt properly in pvp?)Events/skill challenges/escort missions half of them are getting stuck and bugged.
Over all the game has turned out to be a disappointment once you hit 80, don’t get me wrong the game is fantastic from 1-80 beautiful landscape, amazing graphics, very fun quests and world events (when they work) but like I said the game isn’t finished and we are playing a “Beta” game, maybe if we think of it as a beta it won’t be so bad, we just paid full in advance to finish the game thats all.

I don’t think people understand the meaning of “grind”
100+ runs for full armor and 2 sets of weapon to get all the tokens you need.
Now 100 runs no matter if you do it in a year or a week is still a “grind”
Grind= doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over…… get my point yet?……. over and over and over
Now just like Grey.9650 said what does it matter if its only a skin, and as of now there is no prestige tied to these dungeon sets just says to the next person beside you that you had a lot of free time, the dungeons are not even that hard mostly broken mechanics so there is no feeling of achievements obtaining the dungeon skins, nobody in LA gonna whisper you while you stand at the Mystic Forge “hey man nice armor you a pro player man”
I feel sad with the majority of the opinions on the dungeon forums, and I feel with the majority I really don’t want to leave the game but unfortunately the game has left a bad taste in my mouth.
I was pumped leveling my first 80 and even more so for my 2nd one and I was going for a 3rd and 4th but my second one is now stuck at 71 and I have no more motivation to playing it through.
I guess I was too blinded by all the new visuals and new game mechanics that I did not see that there is a lot wrong in this game, from broken events, TP going down so often, dungeon encounters and rewards, bugged quests and so on and so forth, at my 2nd play through you start noticing all these.
I for one will not be playing anymore and be moving on, its sad because I really believed in this game but from the comments and posts by Anet it seems they will be making a stand in the way they cater the dungeons to a minor “elite group” and I will not be wasting anymore hours knowing that because of my schedule and the amount of people I can play with that are not the “hardcore gamers” I am denied certain content and certain rewards, although I did purchase this game because of the advertised casual factor but it really is not for casuals after all
From the responses in game and in forums I think majority of the player base does not approve of the changes made and are very unhappy with the current state of the game, I have already seen a steady decline in population in game and it is very sad to see, I hope Anet all the best and luck and hopefully the game does not turn out to be like SWTOR (had lots of potential but failed to deliver)
(edited by Kurzick.6375)
14 pages and counting with a 85% negative feedback and fyi the people not voicing out their opinions here are not the ones enjoying the game right now they are the ones who don’t care to put any effort and go to the forums.
I agree with the majority of your post, but please don’t assume everybody who posts here is just a whiner. all the suggestions and feedback alone should tell you otherwise. a lot of people want to improve the game and to succeed. they even come here to post about it – how much more effort can you put in?
I think you didn’t get what i was trying to say
I am saying that the people that are NOT posting in the forums which means NOT here voicing out their opinions are the ones who do not care for the game
And the ones that are here that is posting are the ones who do care and majority of them have a negative feedback to the current changes
14 pages and counting with a 85% negative feedback and fyi the people not voicing out their opinions here are not the ones enjoying the game right now they are the ones who don’t care to put any effort and go to the forums.
From the ones that do care tho majority of the players feel a slap in the face with the changes made and feel that it is almost pointless to run dungeons, not because of the difficulty but more so on the reward to effort ratio
I mean going into dungeons and coming out negative isn’t anybody’s idea of fun, the cost to reward ratio running dungeons is at a negative and you just end up losing money for the most part, well unless you are one of the so called “elite groups” which from what I feel is Anet starting to cater to more
Anet and some People don’t seem to understand the gravity of their decision on the kind of patches they made and are planning to make.
So let us show them and the other fanboys truly what kind of impact this is going to cause in game
I don’t know about you but I have seen a steady decline in population already and people in my guild stop playing/leave, people in chat saying they will stop playing for now and wait till the game gets better.
I myself is thinking to stop playing even though i really don’t want to, but with the decline in player base its going to be hard to even get dungeons groups. I mean i don’t mind the challenge of a dungeon (even tho some encounters are just plain broken) but knowing that im going to lose money and have no payoff for my efforts running the dungeons, taking up to an hour to find a group willing to take that hit in the pocket to have a bit of fun in the dungeons just puts off most players.
So leave a reply and reason for that reply
Playing still?
Leaving for now till they fix stuff?
Leaving for good and never looking back?
I feel with each nerf like this they seem to be setting things up to push people into using the cash shop. I would not be surprise if they came out with a ton of new cash shop items like skins and the like.
Make it hard for people to get rewards in game then just toss some easy to get rewards in the cash shop.
They already seem to be nerfing ways to earn in game gold via crafting.
another one who sees the light, RIGHT ON!!! brother
Think about it less rewards means less farm
Less farm means less gold to players
Less gold to players means players look at other ways to get gold
Other ways to get gold Gem store
Gem store convert to gold Anet makes money
and there you go, that is the break down for the reward nerf, i mean why should you make a profit running dungeons thats not right Anet should be making the profit so you gotta go buy Gems to convert to gold —-sarcasm-—
Anet true colors come out, plain and simple guys here are the facts the game does not cater to casuals like they said, it is actually for “fanboys” and “elite groups”
1. lower dungeon rewards to not even cover travel cost and repair cost
2. go broke
3. look at gems at gem store
4. convert gold
5. Anet happy, they made money
They don’t care for the majority of the player base they only care about the hardcores and fanboys
You already bought the game they could careless what happens now, they are too proud to admit mistakes specially when a good chunk of players don’t like the changes they make, but again they don’t care you already bought the game and they made their money.
Its wrong to have your own version of fun didn’t you know that, only Anet dictates what kind of fun you should be having, ohh and don’t forget the fanboys they will tell you that this is fun because Anet said so
Let us all listen to the “fanboys” and “elitist” and Anet all casual players should be alienated and begone from the game, they can no longer let casuals have the experience of these so called endgame hardcore dungeons and no access to the elite skins of the specific dungeons because that is only for “fanboys” and “elite groups” because lets be honest for a casual player to even get a full set of dungeon gear would probably take a year, but i mean Anet says that works as intended.
So i purchased a game because of the advertised casual factor to find out that certain parts of it is not for casual gamers…….. hmmmm something odd there.
Now lets see them enjoy a ghost town ………..tumbleweed rolls by
(edited by Kurzick.6375)
I don’t get why these “fanboys” and “elitist” are defending the grind
100+ runs for a set of 1 dungeon gear key word there “ONE” set of dungeon gear, there is 8 of them, regardless of the time spent 1 week or 1 year the sheer amount of runs doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over….. did I make my point yet? and over and over= yea you guessed it “GRIND”
Don’t advertise a game not having grind and being casual friendly if it ain’t then there would be no problems, but Anet decides to pull a marketing scheme on us and attract us with these promises and fails to deliver and gets us to buy the product, what do they care as long as you bought it since there is no monthly fee all they cared about was the initial sales
ALL of the people complaining are people who are trying to grind a non-grind oriented game.
100+ runs for gear just for skin or not, regardless the amount of time you are doing the same thing over and over and over = grind
Anet is fixing the game. You are on top. Everyone else is going to have to work 90% harder to get what you have already achieved…. and yet you complain. You keep slipping through the cracks in anet’s grand game design and then whine when you can’t get what you want easily anymore.
This game is far from a “Grand Design”
Imagine this:
Imagine you hit level 80 in 2 days, and complete all the dungeons and have all the elite armor within a week. Oh man…. so tough. I bet you would sure feel good about having accomplished something that everyone else in the game accomplished within a week. When you get things easily or quickly, those achievements mean next to nothing. When you EARN your rewards and your status, you feel proud of your accomplishments.
This isn’t real life to have proud moments nobody cares about your status getting gear that took 100+ runs isn’t something to be proud off, and the sane people don’t care what you acquired in a dungeon only care about what they got, and when people see you in full COF exotic they just say “wow that guy had a lot of time on his hand” not " wow his a pro player"
Its simple the dungeon system is broken and they are basically saying " look we don’t know what we are doing so we are putting an impossible fix for now so you turn away and do something else until we find a permanent fix"
I hate to say this but from what i see in the posts here and responses in game from all the changes made a good chunk of players are driven away. I don’t mind the dungeon difficulty but it seems some encounters are just plain bugged now. But my main complain was always the rewards for doing dungeons, such as the ridiculous amount of tokens required to get the dungeon gear, the useless drops from chests that don’t even scale for level and aren’t usable, and now they nerf the amount of silvers you get from dungeon, i mean casual players can barely keep up with repair costs and trying to get crafting up and porting to places cause the WP cost so much now its even harder to farm dungeons for some cash?
Fanboys say what you will “ohh we don’t want you here go play something else” well that might actually happen to a good chunk of players, with new games coming out soon and i hate to say this the WoW expansion in a week, boarderlands 2, Black ops 2, Halo 4, all these changes Anet is making might just push a good majority of players out and a huge decline in player base.
Then the game will truly suffer, with all these players gone the main question is, will there be enough casuals to play with? we all know the “elitist” and “fanboys” are going to be around but casuals can’t keep up with those kind of players. Specially with a system like WvWvW you need population to have fun.
Now i love this game its great but having a small population to play with will push even more people away, cause lets face it people play MMO with other players not NPC and with all the negative feed back coming from forums and in game with this broken dungeon system isn’t going to help.
I hope Anet makes the right changes not quick fixes, its bad enough to release a game promising certain things and completely turning around and doing the opposite, casual friendly game not so casual friendly after all.
I don’t call someone who has time to run CoF exp mode option 2 over 100+ times a “Pro Gamer” just someone who has a lot of free time on their hands.
And correct me if I am wrong didn’t Anet advertise this game as Grind free?
and if you think 100+ run of the same dungeon over and over and over isn’t a grind then you need to go outside your house and breathe fresh air.
There is no such thing as pro gamer in GW2 this game was made with the casual gamer in mind
Here is a quote from their own article in the website called “The Endgame Reimagined”
“In the past, we’ve talked about how in Guild Wars 2 we designed the game to avoid a common problem in many MMOs: grinding through chunks of boring, repetitive content to get to the occasional pockets of fun. With Guild Wars 2, we wanted the entire gameplay experience to be something that players enjoyed, regardless of how much time they could dedicate.”

Ok i don’t think people comprehend how bad the reward is for dungeons, I mean some are easy but some are just frustratingly hard, people would probably not mind about he difficulty if they can see some light at the end of the dark tunnel (meaning a attainable reward)
So let me break it down for you people who talk so much about “L2P” and “This is how end game challenge is suppose to be” and probably never spent more than 3-5 runs of the easy mode CoF exp mode
As it stands cost of Dungeon Tokens per piece of gear is:
Helm=180
Shoulder=210
Chest=330
Gloves=180
Legs=300
Boots=180
2h weapon=390
1h weapon=300
Off hand weapon=210
now lets say the average player will just want to get the 6 pieces of armor and get a different weapon so thats a total of 1380 tokens, and per dungeon run you get 20 per run, IF you want that you will need 69 runs of the same dungeon over and over and over again, if you want a full set of weapon and armor your looking at about 90 runs or 100 for two 1 hander. Now if you love the game and would probably make multiple characters/toon multiply that amount by how ever many toon you want to make.
After that break down if you still think that the reward system is fine then you just have TOO much time on your hand and Anet is a big fat lier for advertising a game that is suppose to be “GRIND FREE”
If you think that 100+ runs of the same dungeon easy or not is not a Grind then you need to walk in to your local psychiatrist and have a good check up
I am not suggesting make the dungeons easier just fix it, the game is a different type of dungeon system and learning it is part of it, although there are a few bugs that need to be fixed but the reward system is the major flaw.
I don’t think its enjoyable to do the same dungeon over and over 100+ times to pick up one set of gear for 1 of your toon, what if you want to collect the other dungeon sets or what if you want it for multiple characters/toon.
Some people might say “ohh that is end game and there would be no replayability if you lower the reward” actually that would be the complete opposite, people would probably play more because they know it is attainable and they can do it with multiple toons which would make the dungeon less boring and tedious grind
Learning the Dungeon is not the problem here as the OP said “Incredibly hard, incredibly unrewarding” <———- this exactly. I don’t have any complain about it being hard, or sometimes it takes a certain encounter to do a few times to actually beat but that isn’t the problem, the problem is the reward.
Now about the reward think about this for a second, you do a dungeon you get about 20 tokens 30 for your first time beating it, to get a full set of 6 pieces of gear you need 1380 tokens, to get a set with 1 weapon 1770 tokens, if you use 2 like pistols you need 1980 tokens, and that is only for 1 set what about your switch weapon, on average that is 100 runs. Really? 100 runs for one set and thats only for 1 dungeon set that is wayyyyy to much it makes the reward not worth the effort thus very unrewarding. And don’t argue that “ohh its the prestige set” no my friend if i see someone with that set i just say to myself " he had a lot of time on his hand" because CoF exp mode takes no skill i’ve pugged it so many times it just becomes very boring to run after so many times
Some of you will say “ohh its end game content, they did that for the replay value” ummm no you can easily make new characters play the different story line do the dungeons again with that toon to get him gear and you can do that for 8 professions i mean for casual gamers even hardcore that would take a while
Seriously Anet needs to do something about this because they will lose the so called casual no grind customers they promised to cater too, there is tons of replay option for this game and 100 runs of the same dungeon doing the same thing over and over again is just not fun and not even challenging its just “GRIND” which if i remember they said this game would have non
