They’re trying to use this to inflate participation metrics and squeeze as much out of existing content as they can, under the pretense of ‘making it better’.

ANet? Pay attention, please.

WE DON’T WANT YOU TO ‘MAKE IT BETTER’. WE WANT YOU TO STOP MESSING UP GAME CONTENT THAT IS FINE WITH YOUR RESTRICTIONS ON OUR CHOICES.

For almost a year they’ve been on a campaign to turn ‘play it your way’ into ‘YOU MUST DO IT THIS WAY OR ELSE’. Guess what? OR ELSE is going to turn into ‘so long and thanks for nothing, losers!’ for a lot of players if you keep it up.

Why do people keep shouting about there being no choice but to do Fractals?

WvW and PvP is open to everyone. You have however CHOSEN to not do them. That is not the games fault. It is yours. YOU decide to limit yourself.

Cos as people have said time and time again, we don’t want to do content we hate. Do you want to do content you hate? No? Then please take your fallacious argument out to the pretentiousness dump where it belongs, kthxbai.

Others have put forth an idea I want to support. The addition of a fourth ‘General’ tab to Dailies. In this tab, you put back the old extremely generic activities. None of them give a reward chest, but they act as an additional rounder for folks who don’t want to be forced into the more specific activities(kill THIS boss, do events in THIS zone)and still want to get their daily AP.

It doesn’t need to go, but it does need some overhauling. This is Grade-A bungling on their part, IMO borne of them wanting to artificially inflate metrics on zone activity and content participation.

Perfect example of less choice: Merry Christmas PvE Players, you can today do Fractals or you can do Fractals if you only do PvE for your daily AP. Cos TWO CHOICES FOR PVE TODAY, CHRISTMAS DAY, ARE FRACTALS!

While that is a bit odd, it also means you can get both those dailies for doing only one thing.

This is a perfect example of restricted choice, the whole reason behind this thread. It’s not a feature. This is ANet trying to force people to do moldy old content many people have no interest in doing to inflate metrics and say ‘see? see? people play all our content!’

Two daily fractals where there should be none.
Stop questioning why there are 27 pages to this thread so far.

So much this. TWO PVE ACTIVITIES OF FOUR TODAY, CHRISTMAS DAY, ARE FRACTALS. If you are like me and do not do Fractals and will not do PvP or WvW, this completely screws your daily achievement.

kitten YOU ANET. I WILL NOT BE FORCED INTO CONTENT I DO NOT WANT TO DO.

Now stop kittenting up your game for some wonky ‘juke the metrics’ BULLkitten and GIVE US OUR kittenING OPTIONS BACK!

PvE should ALWAYS have 8 DIFFERENT things to choose from. How many PvP and WvW have I could care less. Give them 8 too if you can make them up, or leave them alone as-is.

I don’t know anyone who is not experiencing this new behaviour. I guess they wanted to fix the problem of usable items getting thrown from the bank into your inventory and vice versa if you right-click-use them since they don’t do that anymore, but that was far less of an annoyance than having to manually “carry” everything from one container into the other.

That’s the thing, though, it worked fine for a day or two, then they broke it trying to fix something else. STILL NOT WORKING RIGHT, ANET!

Since the update I’ve been unable to double-click unstackable items to move them into my personal bank storage. I can double-click to remove, and if an item is stackable(like Essence of Luck), they can be placed in storage this way. Very annoying bug.

There’s an obvious workaround. Aim for a backstop, or underaim the jump. Game on!

There’s an obvious lack of experience with this issue, too. Cos that DOES NOT WORK. Seriously ANet, would it kill you to not need a ground target for that first one so people who do have latency can PLAY THE NEW kittenING CONTENT??

This is pretty restrictive(which I suspect is part of ANet’s new ’let’s pretend we’re making things better by making more ways to suck gold out of you while limiting your ability to earn it’ strategy), but nevertheless, my feedback:

Schedule good, Inflexibility bad.

You need to roll out the Megaservers in all the World Boss zones, and then change it so all world bosses of a spawn class come up at their designated times. Not this one, then this one, then this one. ALL of them.

Then people can actually do the fights they want to instead of just the ones they’re forced to at a given time.

But then people might actually be able to get all the World Bosses farmed in a semi-reasonable timeframe. That’s OP and must be nerfed.

Though I guess next we’ll see World Boss Spawners in the Gem Shop, amirite? :P

Frost gorge train ruined

The fact that you could make money without putting in any effort is the reason why the train needed nerfing.

My 10 millionth speed run of the same dungeon doesn’t require any effort, either. Why do those still give free gold? Why is spamming 1 in a zerg not worth gold but if I do it on my warrior in a dungeon I deserve gold? Lol.

Cos they can kick you out of a dungeon. They can’t kick you off the train.

Maybe FG will be a bit more bearable for me, as before it often went so fast I couldn’t keep up with load times holding me back.

Either way, people are still gonna do it, unless they just make champ bags COMPLETELY worthless/remove them.

I appreciate the notion and that works fine in a single-player game. It makes me think of the old days of RTS games when you played a side campaign and that side won and had its ending. Starcraft brought the twist on that to weaving all the sides into one story.

An online game tends to be more homogenized in its content. Though as someone else pointed out, being able to be a ‘bad guy’ in PvP would be a fun notion. I always liked that innovation on LOTRO’s part.

Perhaps a future wrinkle to WvW will let you be ‘good guys’ and ‘bad guys’ i.e. let you be a Pirate/Inquest/Flame Legion/Nightmare-Toxic/Svanir member, and possibly earn some armor or other skins to use in your Wardrobe as rewards for doing that.

I’m of the opinion the boss spawn schedule needs to be condensed. Because I’d like to actually farm the bosses in a time period not consistent with a full-time job.

Boss Group 1: Six bosses spawn simultaneously at 00:00 and 00:30. Note this is SPAWN. Not ‘start wonky event chain to trigger spawn’. They are up and defeatable in a 15-minute timeframe.

Boss Group 2: Six other bosses spawn simultaneously at 00:15 and 00:45.

This covers 12 World Bosses. IMO the best candidate to ‘drop’ would be the Foulbear Chieftain. The others(SB, Jungle Wurm, Maw, Fire Ele, Commissar, Ulgoth, Shatterer, Jormag, Covington, Fire Shaman, Megadestroyer and Golem)are split into the two groups. This gives you a path of your choosing through all 12 over 3 hours.

But what about the big bads? Tequatl, Tri-Wurm and Karka Queen?

Simple. They all three spawn every 3 hours.

This gives you a neat, easy 3-hour rotation to cover 13 of the 15 bosses. And still lets the big guilds feel special as they can then roll straight into the other two and be done in around a 4-hour stretch.

But I doubt ANet will listen to this, as their boss spawn schedule smells like ‘AMG TOO MUCH LOOT MUST CUT IT DOWN TO SELLZ MOAR GEMZ!!!’ to me.

Time to drop my 2 copper in the pot.

1)Like the idea of a centralized schedule for world boss events. However, limiting them to one at a time per category is too much. Instead, have either all or half of the ones for the lower categories come online each time in rotation. That way, you can always pick where you want to go over the course of the times available.

2)All contestable waypoints contested until on the map is double-dipping in waypoint costs. Especially in light of the champ train nerfs, I suggest removing map travel costs within a zone once you’re in that zone. If necessary, increase cost to travel from zone to zone to compensate, so travelling quickly across the map becomes more expensive, but doing it a slower, cheaper way is also possible via in-zone waypoints(gate to gate, basically).

3)Randomizing ALL node spawns each mapgen is too much. Set rich vein locations need to remain. Removing guesting to other servers to triple-dip on them is a fair enough balance. Furthermore, T6 node spawns need to be set as well to keep costs from skyrocketing. It is not an exploit to access these nodes on multiple characters daily. It is a reward to those who have taken the time to level those characters and can take advantage of that benefit.

TL;DR: If you don’t want to force yet more people to sit around champ farming all day, relax the restrictions on income stream that changes to world boss schedules and availability of valuable gathering nodes will cause. Otherwise you funnel even MORE people into the ‘grind gold to do anything’ gameplay mode. Which is what I thought you were trying to move away from…

This is ludicrous, I’m watching my DL speed swing from 1.9M to 11K, then maybe back to 50-100K, sometimes in the 2-300K range…

Jesus, buy some REAL servers for people to DL from.
