thats great and all, but if you throw 100 dollars at a game you should be able to play the entire game without restrictions aye? TERRIBLE idea for the 5 day wait…your gonna spend 100 dollars for an account to send 500 in game gold… crazy…

Except that it has drastically reduced the amount of in-game gold seller spam since it was introduced. It’s irksome (recently encountered this myself on my second account), but not so long a period that it becomes a real problem. It’s not a perfect solution but I honestly think it’s a decent trade-off.

Hi Evan,

You’re very welcome. I’ve managed to finish the collection now (after some insults re: the Shatterer’s mom to get encased in crystal) and am the proud owner of the Rainbow Stick™, but I’ll add anything I can think of that could help get the collection cleaned up for future questers.

The most problematic encounters for me were Vinewrath, Light Golem, and the Basilisk attacks.

The Basilisk attach didn’t always finish properly even if I just stood there turning cheek after cheek after cheek, and when it did hit me with a beam it still took a number of tries to get credit.

Vineyface just didn’t want to register the first several seconds that I stood in his beam taking painful hits.

Light Golem… his painful attacks and limited spawns, combined with quick death in an organised map so he doesn’t even get a chance to beam me up… Difficult to say if I was doing anything particularly “wrong” or “right” here, since he would usually only get one beam in, if that, before dying.

It’s possible that my spamming the item did more harm than good, but the spamming was a result of the buff not being visible and the item description being less than clear about intended use.

I asked around for tips as I was going through the collection and nobody really knew how the Lens worked or what the best method for credit was- so these two points are probably the main challenge. Probably also the easiest to fix! With the collection completed I can’t go back to do more testing though, to see if I can get the Lens to work with just one use a little before starting an encounter even if I can’t see the buff.

GW2 npc romance storyline

Lady Elvea.2847

I think the idea here is a romance between an NPC and the player character, not more intra-NPC romance, because we have plenty of that going on already. In all honesty, the game could use a few more interactive options like that, allowing you to bond more closely (or not) with some of your party members. As things stand, the player character is a pretty static person- in charge and revered, possibly liked on some levels, but with followers more than friends.

Even just the option to build more of a friendship with some characters would help to increase story immersion.

Same here, I hope they still have time to fix this before the weekend.

The game is almost unplayable in this state. If they go home for the weekend without fixing this, they’re going to have a serious problem with the playerbase I think.

I wonder if this is ANet’s way of telling us to just finish map completion on that one alt that can still load into that one uncompleted map?

Could you take a look at Manganese Dioxide drop rates (need 10 to make The Bifrost III’s Jar of Purple Paint)?

It seems really low.

I thought it was absurdly low as well, especially compared to the drop rates of some of the other stuff you need, like the Boar Bristles.

On the other hand, I suspect that some of the collection items were meant to be harder than others. I got my red and blue ooze blobs easily, but the yellow one required quite some slaughter.

Hi Evan,

Thanks for the info- I’ve managed to get the items eventually with considerable trial and error myself. However, I don’t think the buff works infallibly- as stated, even if spamming Use continuously throughout a fight until the attack is used, it’s possible not to get the credit. The attacks are easy enough to recognise, so if the first three times nothing happens and then on the fourth try it triggers… something is off somehow.

The erratic behaviour of the item may make it a little difficult to reproduce though, but could it be that multiple uses of the item turn it off again? Combined with the absence of the visual clue that the item is active or not, it might be what caused the issue.

That should be easy to address though- making sure the item description is clearer and ensuring that the collection buff shows up when it’s active would fix it.

"Taken" names

I certainly wouldn’t like to log onto the game if I inadvertently couldn’t log on for a year, to find “Your character’s name must be changed” and to find someone else has it.

In before someone else does this meme:

Yeah, My main have had his name since Beta of GW1. Would be really po’ed to lose it because someone has zero imagination when it comes to naming there toons.

Honestly, it would feel like identity theft. A lot of your in-game friends know you by that name (or names), possibly across a number of games if you’re a fanatic of have something slightly more specific. For someone to be able to take that away just because you weren’t in game for an undefined amount of time… Urgh. No.

I did actually see the popup for VW, having conveniently put my inventory on the other side of my screen to allow me to keep an eye on when it would register, if at all. It still took a while of standing in the beam and spamming the Lens though… and that thing HURTS if you do. O.o

I think my above two points are a good place to start looking for bugs. That, and fixing how the stupid item should be used in the first place.

Have gone back and done some more testing… eventually managed to get credit with mobs in Mt Maelstrom.

Problem seems to be with 2 things:

  • Crystal stock. The item does not seem to trigger correctly if there is only 1 Quartz Crystal in your inventory. Even though you technically only need 1 per mob type for the credit, having just 1 appears to increase odds of failure.
  • Timing/item sensitivity. Since the double-click feature didn’t appear to work at all, I ended up using the even more convoluted alternative of right-click+use. Combined with the above (keeping a stash of crystals greater than 1 every time) it increased the success rate (but still took several tries every time). I’m not sure what part of the beam attack of any of the mobs is considered to “count” for the credit- for the branded woman it worked just before the attack, for others during/after. Apparently some phases of the attacks don’t register so I ended up spamming the item constantly while taking damage from mobs to get the credit eventually. (I.e. take lots of hits hoping that eventually a beam attack would happen that gave credit, after which it was “safe” to attack and kill the mob. For Vinewrath, I stood in the beam attack for almost its entire duration and it still only registered after about 8 tries.)
For some mobs, like the branded woman and basilisk, you can try again after a kill fairly easily by going to the next mob over or waiting for the quick respawn… but for Vinewrath and the Light-Infused Golem a failure for the credit to register is much more problematic and frustrating. VW at least is guaranteed to do his beam attack at set stages and you can look for an active event map to get another shot quickly, but the Golem might get killed before he ever gets a chance to get his beam attack in (happened to me several times before I finally got it) and as far as I could see it’s the only golem that has a beam attack at all… so you just sit there for 15-30 minutes waiting for his scripted spawn times.

Neither of these things indicate a properly working item, and that’s not even taking into account the obvious design flaw of the open inventory and manual activation mechanic combined with awful overall UI.

So it’s technically possible to get the credit to register eventually, but it’s certainly not working reliably. The sensitivity needs fixing, and quite frankly, so does the overall functionality of the item. Simply having it in the inventory along with a crystal should be enough.

All of them worked fine for me (bar On Swift Wings, which was originally very bugged), but I’ve had to redo some of them because of small missteps that made me fail on some requirement or other. When you go into the instance for the achievement, make sure you have the little bubble among your buffs that tells you if you’re eligible to get it or not, and keep an eye on it as you slowly progress through the instance.

If it’s bugged, you’ll have a better idea of what causes it to fail, and if it’s not bugged, you’ll have a better idea of what you did wrong so you can get it right on the next try. In my experience, it was mostly just doing little things wrong without noticing. Either way, I hope you find out what the problem is with each specific achievement you’re missing.

Yes, it beggars belief that a feature that was so long in the making- precursor crafting- can be released into the game with so many things either broken or completely flawed in design, like requiring events to fail that are known never to fail, requiring events to spawn that are known to have been bugged for years, or requiring a boss attack that never happens because of the way that people fight said boss (Shatterer)… when all of these things could have easily been foreseen to be inanely stupid to include right from the start. Add to that the completely ridiculous amount of broken collection items, and… yeah.

Went back and tried the Right-click+Use on the nearest Basilisk in Mount Maelstrom. Still nothing, even with various kinds of timing (just before, during, after) on the beam attack.

So yeah, basically spent hundreds of gold to get this far into the collection, only to find that even with the Shatterer update on Tuesday I won’t be able to complete my collection because of one stupid broken item.

Probably the most convoluted and broken thing in the collection: standing around getting hit by random monsters, hoping they will use their beam attack eventually, only for absolutely nothing to happen when they do.

Have tried everything, from facing various directions, being actively in combat with the monster, just letting it hit me, double-clicking the freaking item at various times to see what happens… but even if I face the monster, am in combat with it, and time the click just right to match its beam attack… NOTHING FRIGGING HAPPENS.

It’s stupid enough having to keep my inventory open and eating up half my screen thanks to the terrible UI, but for the stupid item to not even work at all… just… urgh.

Spent a small fortune to get this far into the collection for the Legend, and now I learn that I don’t just have to wait until Tuesday before I even have a chance with The Shatterer, but the Jade Maw’s Eye Lens doesn’t even work at all.

Please fix this ridiculous item, ideally so that it will trigger just by being in the inventory when hit with a beam attack.

Hmm, lets check that annoying RMT site we keep getting ads for. 1000g on sale for $120, down from $129. That $120 buys 9600 gems which is about 936g where $129 would be 10320 gems or about 1000g. Ignoring the new delivery problems, the big annoying RMT isn’t really offering much of a deal nowadays.

So why the frowns RMT users. ANet provides a similar safe service, with ease picking up your cash bought gold, while being only 6% less than the RMT with the possible shaddy gold supply. So …

Have gems crashed overnight? I was curious so I just had a look… Gem exchange currently has 2000 gems turning into ~333g. That means you’d need only a meagre 6000 gems for ~1000g. I’m in the EU so I can’t compare to actual ANet $ price tags, but with 4k gems at €50 and 8k gems at €100 that works out at €75 for ~1000g right now. (At current exchange rates that’s around $80-85.)

I may be missing something, but doesn’t this actually make ANet the cheaper option? Sounds like illegal gold buyers are getting a really bad deal!

Right now big RMT is 1000 gold for $110. 8800 gems ($110) is 970 gold.

No. My figures came directly off the in-game gem>gold exchange and when I checked yesterday, 2000 gems were worth ~333g. (Today it’s ~341g.) That means you’d only need 6000 gems, not 8800, to get ~1000g from the TP directly.

Colour me confused, but are there multiple exchanges?

In any case, illegal gold buyers… looks like you can get a better deal directly through ANet and you won’t be risking your account doing it. Go donate some money for HoT development!

I’m at the Gem Exchange right now. 999 gold is 8058 gems … 8040 gems … 8023 gems … 8012 gems … etc, it’s always changing. It looks to me you are looking at the Gold to Gem exchange rate and not the Gem to Gold which is 28-29% less. 2000 gems cost around 345g at the moment.

Nope, I was looking at Gem to Gold, just like you. I know it fluctuates, but not generally by more than a few gold, day to day, when there are no special offers or such to increase demand for gems. Which is why I wondered how it could be possible that I see 2000 gems can be traded for X gold, and you see the same 2000 gems can be traded to get Y gold, with a difference too significant to be explained away by normal fluctuations.

Lack of response on GW1 tickets

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Lady Elvea.2847

Lady Elvea.2847

At the very least, some more info from support about when we can expect to get any form of a reply would be welcome.

I’m “only” a month or so past submitting my ticket to regain access to one of my GW1 accounts. It should be straightforward- I’m the original owner, I’ve supplied some personal details, supplied one of the access keys as requested (have keys from several of the linked campaigns) so it should take all of 5 minutes to resolve after first looking at it. Maybe an hour, if it’s somehow hard to compare the data.

Short of the initial automated thank you though… nothing. No feedback from support, no anwer on the forums, not even a quick reply to say that tickets will be cleared in the next 5 weeks.

I’m honestly not sure what to think of that. GW1 tickets seem to be particularly badly hit, with a priority level roughly equal to When Hell Freezes Over. What are we supposed to think, given the radio silence? Is GW1 goig to be shut down, and does nobody at Support want to bother fixing related tickets anymore for that reason? (I hope not, I love(d) that game!)

And yes… we are still paying customers. Happy customers come back. Unhappy customers go to shop elsewhere. I can’t imagine that support queues of over a month and failure to communicate is doing the good name of GW2 and its team any favours. I’ve left other games over shoddy customer support, and the only saving grace this time is that prior experience with GW Support was a heck of a lot better. Goodwill goes a long way, but won’t last forever. This situation gets more frustrating with every day that passes.

Please for the love of Lyssa could we get a coherent update about what’s taking so long, and how much longer we can expect to be waiting?

Personal Story Restoration update

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lady Elvea.2847

Lady Elvea.2847

Thanks for the detailed update, this takes away a lot of worries.

With 4 characters having made it through the entirity of PS before the NPE and the changes that broke it, I’ve been withholding progress on my other 5 characters since September 2014. I’ve checked them all, and if I understand things correctly:

  • Ele + Necro2: C6 Priory Step 3 – The Ghost Rite (Should be fine, pre any story-breaking/changing steps)
  • Engi: C4 Step 3- Killer Instinct (Currently locked out, access to C4 is now beyond lv40, char is lv30 and unlocked access before NPE)
  • Guard: C7 Step 6 Innocent – A Sad Duty (Appears to be okay, I think I should leave this as is and progress after update goes live to ensure everything happens in proper order?)
  • War: C8 Step 5A – Ossuary of Unquiet Dead (since before NPE, should be fine and leave as is?)

I think that in my case, the best I can do now is wait just a little longer and do nothing, with no dramatic impact to my story. (Yay. I guess.)

However, I have a few points of note/concern with the status quo and impending changes:

  1. Replayable Arah story mode going the way of the dodo. I would like to stress, first and foremost, that I am very happy that Victory or Death will be a scaled instance that can be played solo if wanted/needed.
That said, I don’t see why this must come at the price of no longer being able to replay it other than hitching a ride or playing an alt allll the way to this point in the story. Surely a more balanced solution could have been worked out? 2 versions of the same instance, for example, such as version one being the existing one (ArahStory1.game) and remaining in place as is, and version 2 being the updated version (ArahStory2.game), included in the PS. Both versions could add progress to Dungeon Master (whichever is played first), or just version 2, and the benefit is that it remains re-playable and easily accessible for those who wish to do so. Coding for both versions exists, so why not try to combine that? As others have said here before me, the last thing GW2 needs is even more content that ends up permanently locked beyond a certain point.
  2. Story maps/scenery reflecting the game’s timeline. As in; currently not at all, such as with PS steps in LA showing post-Scarlet scenery. Grating, immersion-breaking, and completely undermining any and all effort to create a valuable story experience. Don’t get me wrong, I like Back 2 the Future and all, but I don’t think it works in a GW2 setting. I’m sure we can expect Tyria to change even more in the future- please take this point into consideration when you’re updating maps and find a way to fix/avoid this issue.
  3. ???
  4. Profit! It looks like the update with intended changes may possibly coincide more or less with my wedding day. (Yay!) It is worth noting that further gestures of goodwill and well-wishing are perfectly acceptable to celebrate the occasion. (Hi ANet, a full set of legendaries in my mail as a wedding gift is totally awesome, but I’m sure I could settle for just one or two. I’m not picky.)

TL;DR version – wait, what? Go read, you lazy forum lurkers! >.>

The servers are a bit overloaded at the moment. If you’re getting the error “Connection errors detected – retrying” upon opening the launcher, let it sit in the background for a few minutes and it should start patching. If you get this happening mid-patch, close the launcher and re-open it, then give it some time to connect. Things should normalize again relatively soon.

I’m back in and my Guild window is showing a few interesting things:

- Guilds are somehow no longer listed alphabetically, but in random order. (Whut?)
- All upgrades that were still pending just before the patch (like my Treasure Trove with 105hrs to go) are now completed. I can live with that, obviously, but before I go dumping a lot of stuff in my private guild bank just to find out this gets “fixed” and my stuff is gone… is it meant to do that? xD

Supposedly they were all caught up and all tickets would be answered today by 6 PM EST, if you went by the time window he gave in the thread, but I have yet to here a peep.

Hi everyone! Gameplan:

All login tickets should be done by this time tomorrow. Password resets, email changes, and authentication removal should all be looked at in 6 hours or less UNLESS you don’t provide enough information to prove ownership of the account (fill out your ticket forms thoroughly!).

Gameplay issues such as deleted items, missing skins, missed rewards are taking the full 72 hour SLA to respond to.

Appeals are also taking longer than normal but we’re getting to them. Again, give us as much info as you can to prove ownership to speed this up.

Guild Wars tickets will soon be handled with GW2 tickets – this will remove the issue of you guys having to wait weeks for help. Note: This will still only apply to game access as we do not support gameplay or bug issues for Guild Wars anymore.

If you read what he said, only certain tickets would be handled by that time frame, if certain criteria was met. If you didn’t put enough information in to prove ownership, then it’s quite possible that’s why you didn’t hear back in time. Also if you weren’t a login issue, password resets, email changes, or authentication removal, it was outside of the time you listed.

Login issue, personal details, and game code provided. Don’t think I missed any fields, so I’m not sure what’s keeping them. Surely if I do need to provide more info, they could just ask me instead of not bother?

Since I’m not meant to be adding new tickets and such, I was hoping a little forum birdie might see this post and give me an idea of when I can expect a response- any sign of life at all- from Support.

(Sorry for double post, this is unrelated to above)

There’s still a story issue that hasn’t been addressed yet: Personal Story and Dungeon Story Mode relations.

Currently, you’ll get a “introduction” by the Herald at level 25. At level 30, you get a letter about Ascalonian Catacombs story. However, at level 40 you have the Destiny’s Edge meeting in which Eir talks about going to Ascalon Catacombs indirectly. And at level 50, you get a letter from your iconic talking about events at AC, TA (level 40 dungeon), and CM (level 50 dungeon).

IMO, the “easiest solution” if the changes to levels of the Personal Story remains unchanged (something I personally don’t mind, though I’m unsure about the “locked until level” part) would be to raise the dungeon levels. Make AC story level 45, TA level 50, and CM level 55 – leave the rest as is, and raise explorable to an appropriate story level+5.

My “preferred solution” would having all explorables at level 80 (makes cross-dungeon balancing easier), have AC story at 50 and each subsequent story dungeon 5 levels higher (TA=55; CM=60; SE=65; rest as is)

Whatever the solution, just figured I’d bring this up on the topic of Personal Story fixes.

I’ll add this to the list of things to investigate. It might just be an issue of changing when we’re triggering the sending of those mails (or how they’re worded).

Could you clarify, for absolute certainly: will the story steps that were re-ordered be returned to their original order (in addition to the restoration of the Greatest Fear arc)? And will the story instance entrances be returned to their original locations, rather than the current airship ‘airdrop’ thing that currently occurs at Fort Trinity?

Yes, the story steps will be restored to their original order. We’re looking into removing the airdrop step as part of the fixes as well.

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU

In other news, do you know when we can expect this update to go live? Will people be grandfathered into the fix again, or will all players get it regardless of their story step?

My fiance recently started playing and I’d like to know at exactly which point I should advise him to put his PS on hold, and how long for.

He’s excited about the game, so please let it be soon!

The Quality Assurance team is aware of the issue and they are working on a fix.

Any ETA on that fix? The state of LFG right now is epileptic.

When I started on GW2 Legendaries cost something like 600g on the TP. That seemed astronomical to me at the time, but it was something I felt I could still work towards eventually and it was just a small segment of the market. Now that I actually could buy an item at that price, I can’t even buy most of the precursors because their prices have skyrocketed… and the number of other items that do cost around 600g has increased exponentially.

That does worry me a little from time to time.

Don’t worry because it’s not true. There was never a 600g legendary on the TP and so once that premise is eliminated your whole “omg inflation” story is pretty weak.

Hopefully they meant Precursors, which have suffered from a great deal of inflation.

Yes, I did mean precursors. Prices on those have skyrocketed and I’m wondering how much of that is down to pure supply and demand.

The majority of it influenced by changes from Anet.

Which they will vehemently deny for the rest of forever.

I log in every few days to play a few hours, just for fun, and I do dungeons, exploration, the occasional fractal or story content… but I couldn’t make that amount of money in a short time frame, it would take me months.

You can enjoy yourself without ascended. That’s good enough right?

I didnt’ really get full ascended on my alt, I still play it time to time.

I do think ascended gear make a difference. But if you get a few piece, I don’t think the difference is that big. And you can work your way for a full set.

I dont’ think ascended gear is too tough to get. The problem is if you spend all your money on ascended gear, you probably don’t have too much to spend on anything else. Which is like most of the game is about.

I’m enjoying myself just fine, and while I’m okay with some things being out of reach due to my play style (which is “have fun”) I’m not okay with many things or almost everything being out of reach.

So investors and TP traders are now also responsible for ascended armor prices?

In a way TP flipping does affect the cost of Ascended items. It takes an insane amount of raw materials to craft a set of Ascended armour (10k Silk for a Light set, iirc) and you do either need to farm yourself silly or drop a lot of cash on the TP.

Half the problem is the material cost itself, of course, but that doesn’t mean that TP investors aren’t also a factor.

I’m not sure why people think that something like 600g is “easy” to earn. I log in every few days to play a few hours, just for fun, and I do dungeons, exploration, the occasional fractal or story content… but I couldn’t make that amount of money in a short time frame, it would take me months.

Either playing the game for fun is the “wrong” way to play (apparently I’m being hideously underrewarded), or the OP has a point and both the incentives and the market are completely warped.

While I am fine with some things being “hard to get”, a quick glance at the prices of stuff on the TP makes me inclined to think the second option is the case.

Infinite Light And a Birthday Ruined

In the spirit of Wintersday: sent a happy birthday message to your friend. I know a thing or two about dark times at a young age, and I’m happy to help a little.

On a different note… they still haven’t fixed this? Ugh. This has been around since launch and I’ve lost items that way as well (although not as important). I hope you can get ANet to pitch in and help fix this, since a mail system this broken should have been fixed ages ago and all resulting grief is essentially their fault. I hope they act on the greedy random’s account, and, keeping with the spirit of the season, do something nice for your friend.

PS: Dear ANet, your broken mail system still makes it possible to accidentally send random people unintended mail through a number of weird ways in which the system takes liberties with the “To” field. For the love of coffee, please fix it.

Except most people I know reacted to that point in GW1 with some variation on “Finally I get to kill him myself and it will actually help the mission!” Kind of like in the Tower of Nightmares when we got to fight Trahearne. People actually like the Order mentors.

(Also, although it’s a standard tactic in GW1 I found it amusing that the best way to do that fight was to aggro him so he ran away from his allies and you could kill him before they had a chance to catch up.)

I actually liked him! Well, as a character anyway… as an NPC not so much. (Made for a great Monk exam though. Keep him alive in HM and you pass!) I also have a sneaking suspicion that we might see him back in GW2 somehow, what with Rytlock and the sword and all… >.>

I’m not sure people actually like the Order mentors, or at least not all of them equally. Tybalt seems to get much love, but the Vigil one was kind of meh (can’t even recall the name!) and Sieran… I think I actually celebrated not having to put up with her anymore.

In any case, I don’t think GW2 would benefit from George R.R. Martin style storytelling. Except maybe if the dragons pitched in more. I would love to see Jormy and Primy go ice and fire over the Deldrimor Steel Throne. Or whatever. xD

Back on track… any news / further details for us in the meantime, Gaile?

Please, allow us to skip cut scenes.

They won’t add the option because its meant to drag out the time it takes to complete the content otherwise known as forced repetition for the sake of faux longevity. I can almost guarantee that this topic was discussed and the change was made a few patches back for exactly this reason, or in short working as intended.

Honestly, at some people will just not bother doing content x/y/z at all anymore because of stupid mechanisms making it a drag… which would really defeat the purpose of trying to make it last longer.

I secretly still hope that this isn’t the reason why there is no skip button for cutscenes.

Newly Acquired Items Now Light Up

The first thing I did after noticing this change was look for some way to turn it off. The glow is too bright and it doesn’t have any additional value to me.

I know what I keep in my inventory permanently, and anything else is new and requires sorting anyway. The glow just made it impossible to see what all the new stuff was in the first place.

Glad they had the good sense to include the off-switch right away.

I know a lot of work has gone into them, and we all really appreciate it, honest. But, please, allow us to skip the cut scenes.

I go make a cuppa when they are on, but truthfully, there is only so much tea and coffee a guy can consume!

This.

I’ll watch them the first time around, and maybe again if I particularly liked it, but if I’m doing a story on any character past #3 they get old REALLY quickly.

Even worse when you’re replaying an instance for achievements and you have to sit through them every single time upon failure due to a bug / an NPC being weird / going afk during a cutscene for coffee.

On the subject of making things more personal to the player character, I really wished that they would have made Zhaitan actually force us to fight the risen version of our order mentor. It almost seemed like they were hinting and hyping that up in the Eye of Zhaitan fight.

I mean, it would have broken my heart, yeah, but it would have been really satisfying to see that comradeship have a physical ending nearing the end of the personal story, and potentially have a chance to liberate them from Zhaitan, sort of as a final tearjerker goodbye.

Trahearne would have had a chance to react upon that scene too (hopefully with actual emotion), giving more sign of comradeship between you and Trahearne. As this would most likely happen after Trahearne had completed his Wyld Hunt, it would make your unified motivation more adamant, since the mentor was close to both you and him.

That would have been more or less a rehash of a major GW:Proph plot point. I’m kind of glad they didn’t go that way… and considering the fact that you already encounter several undead versions of companions, including in one of the MGF storylines I don’t think it would have made that much of an impact at the end to be honest.

I mean, at some point it’s just “yeah, we get it, undead friends come back to chew on us, moving on”.

Fighting Zhaitan could definitely be more interesting, but another undead former ally probably isn’t the best way to do so.

Is she responsible for creating all that living story story stuff? Its could be explanation why we must again and again fight all those plants and dealing with sylvari and all this girl style stuff:-)

“girl style stuff” is not something that exists. But thanks for being completely un-constructive and sexist.

You’re saying frilly and girly things do not exist?

I think the point was that “frilly” (lending your example) is not necessarily girly/girls only, and “girly” shouldn’t be used as a way of saying “bad”.

Because since when does the layout of your body, and the presence or absence of certain bodyparts, have anything to do with the quality and/or intrinsic value of a game?

The way I remember Zhaitan is still coloured by all the post-launch bugs during the first week or so. It took us about 4 restarts to even get to where he shows up (having bugged out several times during the Wraith boss fight which triggered a DC for everyone if he used a certain skill) only to find out that due to some freak glitch…

…Zhaitan never actually showed up. We literally waited for him to spawn for an hour or so making jokes that he ran home to cry to his momma until we finally had to admit that Arah had bugged on us. Again. >.>

When I finally got to fight him I think I was just happy we actually got there and had no more bugs along the way, so I didn’t care too much about how easy it was.

Compared to other story parts, including MGF, the final boss fight was indeed a little underwhelming in scope and style. I still enjoyed the rest of the mission, the end was just anticlimactic.

Removing the good parts of the PS instead of polishing up the bad doesn’t make sense to me. Fingers crossed Gaile will be able to tell us a little more about all this soon.

I believe I understand you’d like to know if the Personal Story can be “reset” to a previous state. I have sent an email to ask about that and will let you know when I get some info for you.

More or less. It could still be in the new chapter format, just with the individual story steps back in the order they were in, including those currently missing.

I really do appreciate your efforts.
