Stances apply to allies. So…there is that….
I honestly can’t even believe this is a conversation. More appropriately, I am very disappointed in the player base if the above concept is the general feeling towards expansions. This false sense of entitlement only negatively affects the game. Simple concept. More players = stronger game. More players = more revenue for ANET. More revenue = more content.
Just because people get the base game and hot free with expansion, that doesn’t mean there is an injustice to you. You paid for the exclusivity to play the game for the past x years. So while it might seem they are “getting more than you”, what really is happening is that you gained so much more than them.
Nevermind…Now it’s at Character selection…What the heck? -_-
So for the past hour, i have been unable to play the one thing I actually care about, WvW…
I’ve checked all internet settings and everything is fine. I also dont have any disconnects in PvE content. It is solely when attempting to join WvW…Any ideas?
Simple question. How does everyone feel about the existence of WvW Roaming guilds?
I think they are entertaining and it’s surprising how much damage they can do. So many small guilds will camp an area (whether it be a keep or spawn) and their presence just obliterates. They essentially can cut off life support from a main zerg by killing all reinforcements.
Do you think it’s worth it having them instead of them sticking with the main zerg?
Plethora of pets…..thats what I’m sticking with then…unless you kitten that too….
Also…i can’t say kitten -n-a-l? Kitten nal? Come on…:(
Greetings Reav!
The Ranger is a solid class to play if you are new to Guild Wars 2 and I highly recommend trying it. I’ll go over some key points and I apologize for any grammatical errors. Rushing to respond while hiding in the office.
First of all, the Rangers kitten nal of pets allow them to quickly adapt to any situation. Also, like weapons, pets also have a swap feature. They will tank for you, buff your or provide CC on top of the damage they deal.
For leveling, the longbow will be your weapon of choice. Greatsword is a great secondary due to defensive ability and movement provided. Generally speaking, Power is the solid leveling stat to focus on.
Once you reach 80, the ranger takes a completely different stance with Druid. Passively, druids gain 33% movement speed. As you can imagine, this is a really nice feature. Also, druids is one of the better support classes available. Should you want to stay damage, the ranger provides a solid Damage build via conditions.
Give it a go and I’m sure you will enjoy it. The only downside is you will likely be wearing a lot of trench coats…there is little to no advice I can give to help you there….maybe wear an outfit? Or roll human for smexy chest piece
I am a lonely viper druid…so lonely…much guildlessness…
Simple tip. Learn your class, then learn the class you need to beat. I’m playing trapper thief so I can better understand how to defeat them. Once you play a spec and learn the mindset, it becomes that much easier to counter. I only started playing this build yesterday and i have enough knowledge to counter or beat 97% of the ones I come across.
Welcome to open world PvP…or just PvP in general. PvP is meant to be toxic. We are literally finding the best ways to kill people…Oh and again, condi cleanse is the easy counter…any other game with PvP balancing? Bwahahahaha. WOW, Aion, BDO, Rift. All of them have imbalancing and ALL of them have “OP” “Troll” flavor of the month class builds.
But really, trolling? I wouldn’t call it trolling. It’s called WvW.
This is making me laugh too hard. Literally played this yesterday at a server’s spawn and right outside their keep. So much fun, so much salt.
Hard to counter? It’s main counters are condi clear and you moving on….if you are in WvW and die to this build you are either AFK or really need to rethink your build. Thief jumps you, applies conditions then backs out to re-stealth…all you do is clear conditions and that’s 20-30 seconds of cooldowns for him.
I love how people complain thieves need less survivability or less access to stealth…hahahahahaha. It’s a thief, what do you expect? Stealth is their armor.
Let’s be honest, JQ has more active WvW players than YB. Guilds are leaving YB left and right for TC and SOS (no clue why).
Without cancerous word bashing and blaming? You literally just called all your teammates incompetent a few sentences up…
Not watching animations? How do you fight people, blind folded? In any game, PvP is about anticipating your opponents moves and reacting to them. GW2 allows you to take that a step further by allowing you to see these animations and react faster…
Also, welcome to PvP. You will win. You will lose. Its all part of the game. If you get that depressed over PvP then maybe you should stick to PvE and WvW. The game is about fun and if you don’t like what you are doing, then do something else. Sure, these seasons have ALOT of flaws, but there is no perfect game out there. Also, I prefer quicker fights. I don’t want a 18 minute arena fight like WoW. I’ll pass. I have things to do and ascended shards to farm.
The pool for PvP is extremely small. Especially in the platinum, where you get the same people every game. You can try to pay attention when you also have to find target that goes out/in stealth + chase the target that runs around + kite and dodge the target. I don’t have time for animations when I have to spend those miliseconds checking my cooldowns to make sure I have enough sustain and damage to take them down.
The only reason why I keep doing PvP is because it is the easiest and most focused farming out there that I don’t fall asleep after spending an hour farming SW or frankly, any other farm. That’s the only appeal from this season and frankly, I wish the rewards weren’t so good, so I don’t have to invest so much of my effort into this rancid, putrid, virulent PvP system.
P.S. Ascended Shards stop dropping after you complete Byzantium once. So that goes to show me that you haven’t played enough matches to fully comprehend my perspective. When you do, you will understand my feeling.
Irrelevant. I’ve played about 70ish games and they are all the same. Again, you will lose some and you will win some. It won’t matter if I play 10,000 games. They will all be the same thing. The difference being that I have accepted that.
Also, I really don’t understand everyone’s concern over rating or tier. Who cares, as I mentioned earlier, PvP is flawed. One of the major issues is the way ArenaNet calculates scoring. For 1, the only time another person should affect your personal rating is IF you queue with them. Only allowing solo or duo queue in rating is such a horrible oversight. You want to score me based on the performance of 5 people? Then let me choose my 5 people. Otherwise, when I solo queue I want to be rated on my performance in that match.
If in a game I get 3-4 top stats metals, then I did my job and should get scored as such. Instead, I get scored based on the Guardian who went far, died and caused us to lose the game.
They either need to remove the cap and allow you to queue with 3-5 people or score you based on your personal performance. Only then will the rating matter. Anyone who has a high ranking and brags is really only able to say their RNGESUS is better than yours.

Teef spams 5 on staff. Teef claims he has skill. Teef dies because spamming 5 isn’t a good strategy. Teef blames DH on being op.
Let’s be honest here. For a casual player, DH is a solid pick because of their survivability and decent burst damage. The issue is people rush a DH that’s sitting on a base and die to traps. Then complain. You can’t fight someone in their “environment” and expect to win. Plus, 95% of DH’s I see get countered by Ele and Engi. You want to talk about burst, sustain and survivability, look there. Or what about Necromacer? They can be tanky as heck and deal an insane amount of damage with reaper and boon corruption.
I’ll be the first to admit I’m a kitten player. I placed Plat, but if there was a rank below bronze I would probably be there. Half the time I close my eyes and pray I hit the right buttoms, the other half I die before I can close my eyes.
A skilled player will excel on whatever class they are on. Sure, there are some classes that are more suited for less skillful players, but a skilled player will always defeat them. People complain Revs are garbage but I’ve seen one defeat three people and cap the point.
All I am saying is there are easier to plays classes then there are high-risk high-reward classes. If you are a subpar player and you don’t meet that specific class’s skill requirements, you will lose. Find one that suits you better.
For Mesmer, I would like to see something with Kasmeer (I think that’s her name). Maybe in her absence, she has been training and learned something new.
TC and JQ have an insane amount of people at all hours. Worst of all, they really enjoy grouping up to attack YB.
Howdy folks,
I know everyone is theorizing on elite specs and what they will be, but I honestly care more about how they introduce them. For the ones we received at HOT, you just learn it from playing and grabbing hero points.
It would be cool for the next one to have an introduction quest for each. It would vary depending on the class.
For instance, Revenant would get a letter from Rytlock saying there was mist essence seeping through the floor where he first entered. Then the quest would have them enter the mist to defeat some evil champion. During the fight, they would receive assistance from a fallen ally and use their weapon (Greatsword plx).
Once the quest is finished, you gain the ability to use the weapon and then you unlock everything through hero points.
Just adds a little more to the classes. Thoughts?
Boring. Next elite specialization should provide thieves with ninja weapon kits. End of story. Good day.
What they mean to say is that they have too much time invested into creating useless gem store products (like wings, gliders and backpacks) rather than actually releasing updates to the game itself.
Doesn’t matter. Maybe if we ask them to add it as a gem store product we will see results.
Oh lord. A map with mechanics? Please remove ASAP. How can I be expected to not stand on disappearing floor plates and dodge roll a skyhammer?
Seriously? I haven’t lost a skyhammer because people afk a point and lose. Focus 2 bases and skyhammer. GG. Easy win.
Can you not read? He is clearly saying he wants to walk while dodging. Well today is your lucky day! I am going to introduce you to this lovely lady, Walk. That way you can dodge with Walk while dodging attacks.
Come on. Dodging in place is not dodging. You’re merely standing in one spot, doing the exact opposite of a dodge… I bet if you strafe more you won’t even need to dodge.
Silly thieves. It is known that devs. don’t even check the thief forum. You will have better luck going to the mesmer forums and linking this post. Then they are guaranteed to see it. I do admit the animations could be changed.
I would also like the Daredevil staff abilities to be revised. Give us one that let’s us jump on our staff and avoid damage for a few seconds. Help counter-play guardian traps.
Soon to be confirmed, new elite specialization includes a longbow and channels the Legendary Eir Stagalkin.
RIP. Why ANet….why? This isn’t “Game of Maguuma” you monsters.
If you find this change or any part of the game offensive, please quit the game. I’m serious. I don’t understand why you have to waste another person’s time with your opinion. We don’t care. We dislike you. You are the reason we can’t have nice things. I’m sick of children complaining about religion or plane crashes. Who cares? Planes crash and your God is a potato. Oh, that was a spoiler. Complain about something that matters, like having too many Bone Carved Spoons or how everyone but me seems to have a legendary.
