This just feels like a big waste of money now.

That sums it up for me as well. Gems could have been spent elsewhere for more value.

This game used to be so fun..

Somehow this post ended up in another topic… reposting it here:
———————————————-

I think your title named it well – the fun factor is missing. Or rather too much of it has been replaced with annoyance after annoyance; limitation after limitation, a new currency every 30 feet, new ways of slowing down progress or a new death wish just trying to harvest materials.

It used to be that the cursed shore areas where places where you couldn’t linger long enough in most areas to enjoy the artistry and creativity of the GW2 world. Now it’s just trying to stay alive while passing through most areas of HoT. And I see others doing the same, like riding a bike in rush hour traffic, just trying to get from one spot to another while spending the least amount of time in-between, with far too many ways of being slowed down, limited, hampered or outright killed. On leaving these areas or dying, I keep expecting to see a sign: Leaving HoT; Don’t come back. Gliding should be a good exploration device, but it’s more often an escape mechanism designed after the frying pan/fire scenario.

There’s a big difference between challenges and annoyances; between helping the player enjoy the game with interface design improvements and simplifying processes,
instead of filling it up with fillers, junk, time limitations and insane respawns and hazards.

There is still a lot to enjoy and I do, but it’s getting harder to find. At least I can stand at a crafting station without being interrupted continually or hoping someone will res me… And in part, having spent money on it, I’m trying to get my money’s worth but still switching to other games when the frustration builds up.

:/ I think I'm done

64-bit client prevented the crashing issue

Lucky you.

The issue for all OS variations seems to stem from the Nov 17th patch. I can’t do (daily) events due to constant crashes – prior to Nov 17th patch, almost no crash issues.

Solution to all the wasted time and costs from the crashes:

Arena Net award us:
1 gold for every crash
BL key every 10th crash

5 rare mats for each failed event due to a crash (currently on my 5th server trying to do the Megadestroyer for the daily and it looks like I’ve missed it now due to crashes and server transfers)

Or better yet, make 3 crashes as the daily! Save a lot of trouble and frustration and time for other games

seemed stable for a little while since today’s patch, then crashed just using Silverwaste Waypoint.
So, recent patch didn’t fix it. Another crash or two will be enough to quit until the next patch.

Starting to think maybe this constant crashing is a new form of Diminished Returns Arena Net is testing out… if they can’t play, they can’t progress…

Crash, crash, crash just doing ordinary things – step out of waypoint, crash, rather than the occasional event crash.

Stopped playing. Waiting for a fix.

Big game design mistake

As an MMO player who doesn’t like platform, I great dislike jump puzzles. For me MMOs are RPG/combat oriented. But if GW2 have or not jumpe puzzles I used to not care…

But with new Mastery points (central Tyria) mechanic, the game requires you to do jump puzzles to progress. I never hated an MMO as I’m hating playing GW2 now. It’s very frustrating to play a game that forces you to play a way it’s not the core gameplay.

Also avoided platforming games in general.

Agreed that the initial core gameplay and gameplay mechanics have changed drastically in places. Original, you could do the story in a variety of ways or not. Now your stuck with a gated story. Had I known HoT was structured so differently than the original, I probably would not have come back to it with high expectations. But unlikely I’ll sink any more money into the game.

Not everyone wants or cares to play the game the way the devs and accountants designed, but it’s unlikely ANET is going to provide alternatives for anything they perceive as ‘working as intended’. So I’ll just stick with the parts that I still enjoy until those start leeching fun from playing it.

Agreed – poor game design dumping you into a totally new movement manner, in an instance and with zero guidance over a vast distance unlike previous game experience. As with others, the 3 modes were not consistent and I died a lot.

Thank you AN for a bad experience and a low desire to continue a gated story line that may also have more poorly implemented ideas. It’s not even a jumping puzzle.

Won’t talk to me either. Exited game and came back in and nothing. Yet another player came up and evidently worked just fine

Can not continue story now or advance mastery.

2 crashes/lock up - can't send crash report

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Laughing Crow.7581

Laughing Crow.7581

Unable to send crash report because that locks up as well as the game – unable to type in data, send or close the crash report window. Occurred at 2 different times during the day.

Task Manager shows 2 programs running with Arena icon, plus GW2.exe

Any suggestions on how to re-engage the report so I can send it?

Needed some Karka shells for crafting.

Killed 40 young Karka

Loot (if you could call it that):
5 chunks crab meat
3 junk spiral shells
2 drops of copper totaling 1 silver 13 copper

As the Harathi sometimes say, “Not worth the effort.”

Guild Missions [merged]

Well why be in a big guild or in a guild at all then? The idea was to reward ppl for being in active guilds not guild that are so small that they have problems making one pt (there is a line that needs to be made the difference between a guild and a pt) or guild that only show up at the end of the month for a week and then everyone goes away waiting for the next update.

First of all, for a lot of people who are in small guilds, it’s a group of friends, often across multiple games. There are many multiplayer games that are not guild focused; a guild is just a convenience for what these people already do as a group. Many people do prefer to be in a small personable group of friends than in a vast guild run by people they don’t even know.

Secondly, a lot of people in small guilds would much rather play the game with friends than spend time running a guild.

If you like challenges, start up a new guild based only on people you meet in the game and tell us how far you get in a month. Tell us how soon you’ll accumulate the influence you need to start a guild mission.

By the way, does the NPC still available in Southsun Cove? The one that can exchange 1000 karka shells for Ancient Karka Shell Earring?

Yes, was just there. But at the current drop rate or at least what I’m getting, that item must be a joke.

Today’s karka tally and harvest:

40 karka killed
5 chunks crab meat
3 spiral shells
1 drop of 75 copper
1 drop of 57 copper

Hardly worth the time and travel cost.

I think Mobs in presents are way overpowered

Laughing Crow.7581

Solo – not worth the effort for the loot they drop. And if you don’t kill them fast enough, the presents are gone. Some areas you can’t kite very far out without dragging in more opponents.

Far faster and easier to farm Karkas; when they do drop, at least I get useful drops that go into my collection.

A snowball fight is festive, as are the decorations or building a snowman. Being swarmed by monsters that can 1 shot you, outrun you and have greater range isn’t what I would call festive. But then I’m old fashioned.

In the Character screen (H) I’d like an option to print out (or provide a plain text file) that character’s statistics (attributes, etc), armor info, weapon info, accessories info and an option to list current Traits.
